Meanwhile, Alien: Romulus, directed by Fede Alvarez, releases on August 16, following a spaceship crew battling relentless Xenomorphs. Legendary Bollywood actress, Asha Parekh has criticised the makers of The Kashmir Files. During a recent interview, Parekh questioned why the controversial film’s profits were not used to aid the Kashmiri pandits. The film written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, became a blockbuster hit grossing over ₹400 crores at the Indian box office. Agnihotri has been accused by a few of using the plight of the Kashmiri pandits to promote his film. Parekh also questioned as to why not even ₹50 crores were donated.

There has been growing speculation in recent months that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is working on his next project after starring in Laal Singh Chadha. New reports suggest that Khan is indeed working on a project titled Sitaare Zameen Par. The film’s reported name has already sparked a lot of speculation among fans, who are questioning whether it’s a remake or sequel to Khan's acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The plot revolves around a sports coach and his heartwarming bond with a team of differently-abled children. Further details about the project have been kept under wraps.

The hit live-action Japanese series Alice in Borderland, has been renewed for a third season. The news comes as a relief to fans of the series after season two ended in a major cliffhanger. The Netflix TV show is based on the eponymous manga series, and it is a sci-fi tale about an ardent gamer who is inexplicably pulled into an alternate reality of Tokyo along with his friends, and forced to play a deadly survival game. The hit pro-wrestling drama TV series Heels, starring Steven Amell and Alexander Ludwig, has been cancelled after two seasons. The Starz original series revolves around two brothers vying for control over their father’s modest wrestling company. Starz also announced the cancellation of Blindspotting, Run the World, and The Venery of Samantha Bird. While both Blindspotting and Run the World ran for two seasons, the Katherine Langford-led series The Venery of Samantha Bird has been scrapped before releasing a single episode.

Emerald Fennell, best known for helming the critically-acclaimed thriller Promising Young Woman, is set to release her second feature film Saltburn. The film premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival earlier this year. Saltburn is expected to receive a limited theatrical release in the UK and US on November 17, before releasing worldwide on November 22. The psychological thriller features a star-studded ensemble of Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, and Archie Madekwe. Director Fennell is currently working on the script for the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which is scheduled to release in 2024.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the highly anticipated Disney+ series based on Rick Riordan's best-selling young adult novels, has finally released its trailer. The new clip features The Adam Project star Walker Scobell as the titular demigod, who is seen travelling to Camp Half-Blood. Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries essay the roles of Percy’s friends Grover and Annabeth, while Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jason Mantzoukas, Jay Duplass, Adam Copeland, Timothy Omundson, and Megan Mullally among others play other prominent roles. Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres on December 20, 2023, on Disney and on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's latest blockbuster, Jawan, has already broken several major box office records since it hit theatres earlier this month. The Atlee directorial has surpassed $96 million at the global box office and is expected to cross the $100 million mark soon. Khan’s Pathaan, which released earlier this year grossed $130 million globally and is the next potential milestone for Jawan. Jawan has also become the eighth highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s production company, Aamir Khan Productions, will join hands with Jio Studios to bankroll Kiran Rao’s next project. Titled Laapata Ladies, the film will be Rao’s second directorial after the 2011 film Dhobi Ghat. Laapata Ladies is set in 2001 in rural India and follows the hilarious tale of two brides who get lost after a train journey. Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan essay prominent roles in the film.

American comedian Kevin Hart’s upcoming heist comedy, Lift, has postponed its release. The Netflix original film, helmed by Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, was initially scheduled to release on 25th August this year but will now release on January 12, 2024. The film features a star-studded ensemble including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jean and Reno, along with Peaky Blinders actor Paul Anderson and Avatar lead actor Sam Worthington. Kevin Hart fans will have to stay put for this one and while comedy crime is a genre that is yet to be milked to its potential, we’re sure this one will be worth the wait.

India’s Panorama Studios is set to team up with South Korea’s Anthology Studios to remake the Drishyam franchise in Korean. The Drishyam franchise released its first film in 2013 and was written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and was headlined by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. It has since been remade in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Sinhala. It was also remade into Mandarin titled Sheep Without A Shepherd in 2019.

Hollywood veteran Eddie Murphy is close to signing a deal to play the lead in the Pink Panther reboot. Murphy will reportedly essay the role of the iconic Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The role of the humbling French detective was previously played by Steve Martin in the 2006 film The Pink Panther and its 2009 sequel. Further details regarding the film have been kept under wraps.

Yet another popular Netflix series has been confirmed for a 2023 release, and it is the fourth season of the hit comedy series Sex Education. The third season ended on a cliffhanger with Emma Mackey’s character Maeve and Asa Butterfield's Otis going their separate ways. Mimi Keene and Ncuti Gatwa will also reprise their roles while Jodie Turner-Smith has been added to the cast along with Schitt’s Creek’s Dan Levy.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is set to slip into a new avatar for the upcoming film Lal Salaam. He will make a special appearance in the film, directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth will essay the lead roles in the film, while Rajinikanth will play a pivotal cameo as Moideen Bhai in a plot set against the backdrop of cricketing action.

Veteran comedian Raju Srivastav passed away at the age of 58 on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a cardiac arrest on August 10th. The much-loved comedian gained recognition after participating in the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He has acted in films such as Baazigar, Big Brother, Bombay to Goa and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

National Award-winning actor Dhanush's bilingual film Sir will hit theatres on December 2nd. The film will release as Sir in Telugu and as Vaathi in Tamil. The big-budget film is written and directed by Venky Atluri and will feature Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. Dhanush will essay the role of Bala Gangadhar Tilak, a junior lecturer.

Acclaimed actress Kate Winslet was rushed to a hospital after she slipped and hurt her leg during the filming of her upcoming film in Croatia. As per the latest reports, the actress is recovering and will resume production this week. Winslet will play the role of World War II photojournalist Lee Miller in the historical drama Lee which is being helmed by Ellen Kuras, who has worked as a cinematographer in several films including Winslet’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The Apple TV+ original series Ted Lasso also bagged several top honors this year. Best Drama Series HBO's Succession dominated the 2022 Emmys by winning four awards out of 25 nominations, including Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. Succession beat Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Ozark, Severance, Squid Game, Stranger Things, and Yellowjackets to bag the Emmy.  Best Actor In A Drama Series South Korea’s Lee Jung-jae made history by becoming the first Asian to bag the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the Netflix series Squid Game. In the series, Jung-jae plays Player 456 or Seong Gi-hun who participates in a deadly game in order to win cash prizes.  Best Actress In A Drama Series Zendaya bagged the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for the second time for Euphoria. Her portrayal of Rue Benett in the series fetched her an Emmy in 2020 as well.  Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series Julia Garner won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for portraying Ruth in the Netflix series Ozark. This is Garner’s third Emmy win. Best Supporting Actor In A Drama Series Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The actor, who plays Shiv Roy in the hit HBO series, was previously nominated for the award in 2020. Best Comedy Series There were no surprises in the Best Comedy Series category as the  Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudekis won for the second year in a row. The comedy-drama series, about an American football coach who ends up coaching European football in England, has garnered multiple awards and accolades over the past two years.  Best Actor In A Comedy Series Ted Lasso lead star Jason Sudekis took home the Emmy for Best Actor In a Comedy series whereas his co-star Brett Goldstein won Best Supporting Actor in a comedy series.  Best Actress In A Comedy Series   Veteran Hollywood star Jean Smart, who was nominated for Emmys 2020 and 2021 for Watchmen and Mare of Eastown has finally grabbed an Emmy this year. She won the coveted prize for Best Actress In A Comedy Series for her lead role in Hacks. Best Limited Or Anthology Series The Best Limited Or Anthology Series award went to the HBO series The White Lotus. The comedy-drama series is among the several HBO shows that won big at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards this year. Best Animated Series The critically acclaimed Netflix Original series, Arcane, became the first streaming animated series ever to win an Emmy for the Best Animated Series. A prequel to The Omen franchise is in the works at 20th Century Fox. Game of Thrones alum Nell Tiger Free, who essayed the role of Princess Myrcella Baratheon, has been cast in the lead role for the film titled, First Omen. This will be the young actress’s second major role in a horror product after having essayed the role of Leanne Grayson in M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant. Directed by Arkasha Stevenson, it will be the first major feature film in the Omen franchise in nearly 15 years.

Russo Brothers’s latest film The Gray Man has been dominating the Global Top 10 chart of Netflix since its release.  Maria Bakalova to star in two upcoming films Bodies Bodies Bodies actress Maria Bakalova is set to feature in not one, but two films. She has joined the cast of Andrew Durham’s Fairyland, a feature-length film based on Alysia Abbott’s book Fairyland: A Memoir of My Father which chronicles the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco during the 70s and 80s. Bakalova has also signed to star in the Netflix’s film Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. The film features a star-studded cast of Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Hugh Grant, and James Marsden. Set in 1963 Michigan, the film will depict the origin story of the popular breakfast delicacy Pop-Tarts. Tosin Cole to lead Netflix’s superhero series  61st Street star Tosin Cole is set to headline Netflix’s upcoming superhero series, Supacell. Cole will essay the role of Michael Lasaki, a van driver, in the series which revolves around six people with superhuman abilities. Adelayo Adedayo, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku, Rayxia Ojo, and Giacomo Mancini complete the cast of the series.  Quinta Brunson signs deal with Warner Bros Quinta Brunson, the creator and star of Emmy-nominated TV series Abbott Elementary, have signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. TV. As per the agreement, the actress will create new projects for the studio. Her show Abbott Elementary which revolves around the teachers and students of a Philadelphia public school has been nominated for seven Emmys. It is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar in India. Lauren Ambrose joins season 2 of Yellowjackets Six Feet Under alum Lauren Ambrose has joined the second season of Showtime’s Emmy-nominated series  Yellowjackets. According to an entertainment website, the actor has been in talks to join the MCU. The actor recently shared that while his fans would like to see him essay popular supervillains such as Doctor Doom or Magneto, he was more keen to play a hero like Professor X, if he were given an option. Hero or villain, we just can’t wait to see Esposito rock an MCU franchise in his signature style. Never Have I Ever S03 episode names revealed Fans of the teen drama Never Have I Ever are struggling to keep calm this week. After all, this happens to be the week when the show’s third season is expected to drop. Dhanush to return as The Lone Wolf  Next up, we have a big announcement for Dhanush fans. The actor has recently shared a voice note that reveals that his character The Lone Wolf will be back soon. The voice note went as follows: “Six, this is Lone Wolf, I hear we are both looking for the same man. I want to offer you some advice. Stop looking, you are wasting your time. Because if I find him first, there will be nothing left for you to look for and if you find him first, then I will find you. When quizzed if his parents were happy with his recent success, the actor remarked that though his success hardly mattered to them, they were now assured that their son won't die of hunger. Shahid Kapoor may star in another south Indian remake Looks like Shahid Kapoor is set to star in another south Indian remake. This time, it’s the award-winning Malayalam film Mumbai Police. As per reports, Kapoor is in talks to star in the Hindi remake of the film which featured Prithviraj Sukumaran in the role of a police officer. Rosshan Andrrews who helmed the original will direct the remake as well. Kapoor has earlier starred in the Hindi remakes of commercially successful Telugu films Arjun Reddy and Jersey. The shocking news comes in the wake of the media giant’s lacklustre showing at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con recently. Eragon live-action series greenlit at Disney+The popular fantasy novel Eragon by Christopher Paolini is set to be adapted into a live-action TV series by Disney+. The book series collectively called The Inheritance Cycle was published in 2002 and was also adapted into a film in 2006 which was universally panned. For the new series, Paolini has been added as co-writ er and co-showrunner, with Bert Salke as the executive producer.  David Harbour and Pedro Pascal to star in new HBO true crime series Two of television’s biggest stars David Harbour and Pedro Pascal are set to star in a new upcoming true crime series for HBO titled My Dentist’s Murder Trial. Pascal, famous for The Mandalorian, Narcos, and Game of Thrones, will essay the role of Dr Gilberto Nunez, a man who was indicted for the murder of his friend. Stranger Things star, Harbour, will also play an important role but details regarding his character are yet to be disclosed. Kate Winslet to star in yet another HBO limited series British actress Kate Winslet is set to continue her partnership with HBO after having signed a deal to star in an upcoming limited series titled The Palace. She recently played the lead in the Emmy award-winning HBO series Mare of Eastown, and she is also set to star in another HBO series titled Trust. The Palace will feature the unraveling of an authoritarian regime and will be directed by Stephen Frears.  The Gray Man sequel and spin-off announced The new Netflix action film, The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Chris Evans will have a sequel. Gosling will return for the sequel with the Russo brothers also returning to helm the project. A spin-off for the film is also in development with Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese attached to the project.  Destin Daniel to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Marvel Studios have announced that the next Avengers film titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the 2021 Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. There was speculation earlier whether the Russo brothers would return to direct the film which is scheduled for a 2025 release date. The plot of the film will most likely revolve around the supervillain named Kang the conqueror, who was played by Jonathan Majors in the Marvel TV series Loki.  Ashton Kutcher cast in B J Novak’s directorial debut film Popular for playing Ryan Howard in the hit TV series, The Office, B J Novak has since become an accomplished writer as well. He is set to star and direct a new film, titled Vengence, and it is about a journalist who travels to Texas to investigate the death of a woman with whom he once had a very brief relationship. Ashton Kutcher will also star in the film as a record producer who crosses paths with Novak’s character. Disney announces Percy Jackson and the Olympians series A reboot of the popular Percy Jackson franchise based on the novels by Rick Riordan is in the works at Disney+. The new series will star Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri in lead roles and is expected for a 2024 release. The franchise was previously adapted into films with Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario in lead roles. The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 announced  Amazon Prime’s hit coming-of-age drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty will return for a second season. Filming has already commenced for the follow-up season with Lola Tung to reprise her role as the lead. The series is based on the novel by popular writer Jenny Han. Rosamund Pike to narrate audiobook adaptations of The Wheel of Time  Rosamund Pike, the star of the hit Amazon Prime TV series The Wheel of Time, is set to serve as narrator for the audiobooks ‘The Great Hunt' and 'The Dragon Reborn' based on Robert Jordan's novels of the same name from The Wheel of Time franchise. The live-action series debuted on Amazon Prime last year with a second season set to be released soon.  Goodfellas actor Paul Sorvino dies aged 83 Paul Sorvino, the actor most famous for playing Paulie Cicero in the iconic gangster film, Goodfellas, has passed away due to natural causes at the age of 83. The news was announced by his wife Dee Dee. Sorvino is the father of Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino. First look of new Dhanush film revealed  Tamil superstar Dhanush, who recently starred in the Netflix action film The Gray Man, is set to play the lead in the new Tamil-Telugu film Vaathi. Directed by Venky Atluri, the period drama will be set in the 80s and will also star Samyuktha Menon in the lead role. The film is titled Sir, in Telugu.    Regé-Jean Page will not appear in new Avengers film Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page who also recently starred in the film The Gray Man was initially announced to be part of the cast list for the Marvel series Secret Invasion starring Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L Jackson, and Cobie Smulders. However, Marvel Studios have backtracked saying that Regé-Jean Page’s name was listed by accident and that he won't be appearing in the series. KGF’s Ravi Basrur to compose music for Prithviraj’s Kaaliyan Prithviraj Sukumaran’s big-budget period film Kaaliyan which has been in the works for the past four years is finally making some headway. Jackman will voice the character of Big Greg, the head of the town council.  Abbott Elementary’s creator accused of copyright infringement A week after ABC’s Abbott Elementary fetched seven Emmy nominations, allegations of copyright infringement have been raised against ABC and show creator Quinta Brunson. Aspiring writer and actress Christine Davis have claimed that the premise of Abbott Elementary was lifted from her show called This School Year. Davis also alleged that many of the characters were nearly identical to her show’s characters. Abbott Elementary revolves around the teachers and students of a Philadelphia public school and is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar in India.   Madame Web’s release postponed Sony has pushed the release of the Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web from July 7 to October 6 next year. Kartik Aaryan to join hands with Kabir Khan Kartik Aaryan, who is riding high on the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, is set to collaborate with Kabir Khan for an upcoming film. The film which is based on a true story will be jointly produced by Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala and will go on floors early next year.  Salman Khan to shoot for two films at one location Juggling between multiple films can be draining for any actor. But Bollywood superstar Salman Khan seems to manage it well. Khan, who is busy shooting for Bhaijaan, will feature in a special number for Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Godfather. To make things easier for the actor, the filming for both these films have been scheduled at the same location. In an interview, Wainwright revealed that the BBC is interested in renewing the show. The series set in 19th-century Yorkshire is based on the real-life story of Anne Lister who is often referred to as The First Modern Lesbian and is a co-production between HBO and the BBC. Nintendo to acquire Dynamo Pictures Video game company Nintendo plans to buy out Dynamo Pictures, a Tokyo-based CG animation studio, with an aim to develop original visual content with Nintendo IPs. Doordarshan's Captain Vyom remake in the works  The hit Doordarshan series Captain Vyom, which aired during the late 90s, starring Milind Soman is set to be remade into a web series. Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd will revive the series, but details about the cast and crew are yet to be confirmed.  Netflix to partner with Microsoft Streaming giant Netflix has announced a partnership with tech giants Microsoft as Netflix explores the possibility of introducing advertisements to the platform. The news comes in the wake of Netflix suffering huge losses recently after losing up to 200,000 subscribers, and the move is Netflix's attempt at offering affordable rates to a wider audience to access their award-winning content.  Jeff Goldblum to replace Hugh Grant as Zeus in new series Hollywood star Jeff Goldblum, who recently reprised his role as Dr Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Dominion, has replaced Hugh Grant in the upcoming series Kaos. Her love interest in the series, Ola, played by Patricia Allison will not return either for the upcoming season.    Daniel Kaluuya not returning for Black Panther 2 Daniel Kaluuya, who essayed the role of W’Kabi, the best friend of T’Challa aka Black Panther, will not reprise his role for the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. He has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Jordan Peele’s upcoming thriller Nope. The news is yet another setback for the film which has already lost its titular character after lead actor Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away in 2020. Titled, The Fall of the House of Usher, the series is based on Edgar Allan Poe’1839 anthology, Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque. The series has wrapped production and is expected to release on Netflix later this year or early 2023.  John Abraham film Tehran begins filming The highly anticipated film, Tehran, starring Bollywood star John Abraham has begun filming. Helmed by the creators of Badlapur, Stree, and Mimi, the film is set to be an action-thriller loosely based on true events. Directed by Arun Gopalan and written by Prakash Verma and Ritesh Shah, the film is a geopolitical thriller which delves into the Russian-Ukraine conflict and the roles of China and Iran in the ongoing war.  Abraham is also busy with another project titled Mike. Series on Bass Reeves in the works Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary’s production company Revelations Entertainment is developing a series revolving around the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal, Bass Reeves. Titled Twin Territories, the series is based on a novel written by Reeves’ historian Art T. Burton. The series which was bought by Amazon in 2019 will explore how Reeves played a pivotal role in the statehood of Oklahoma. Godzilla and Titans series’ cast announced Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski have been cast in Apple TV+’s upcoming live-action Godzilla and Titans series. The untitled project is centered on the battle between Godzilla and the Titans and how one family is linked to a secret organization called the Monarch. Matt Fraction and Chris Black have created the series. Kate Winslet’s look in Avatar: The Way of Water revealed Avatar: The Way of Water, the sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster Avatar, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The first look of actress Kate Winslet in the film has been released. The actress essays the role of Ronal, a Na’vi warrior. The film is expected to hit theaters in December this year. Four more actors join The Horror of Dolores Roach The makers of Amazon’s upcoming thriller series The Horror of Dolores Roach have added four more actors to its cast. Machado plays Dolores in the series.  Dune: Part 2 release postponed Dune: Part 2, which was scheduled to be released on October 20th next year, will release on November 17, 2023 instead. With the change in release date, Dune: Part 2 will now hit theaters on the same day as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.  Kim Cattrall to star in Netflix series  Golden Globe winner and Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall has been signed to star in the  Netflix drama series Glamorous. Cattrall will play Madolyn Addison, the founder of a beauty line which is set in the cosmetics industry.  Apart from Cattrall, the series will feature Zane Phillips, Jade Payton, Michael Hsu Rosen, Ayesha Harris, and Graham Parkhurst. Kareena, Karisma, Malaika and Amrita may unite for Netflix reality series As per reports, Bollywood besties Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora, Malaika Arora, and Karisma Kapoor are set to collaborate for a Netflix series titled, Guts. The reality series will give a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their glamorous lives and will be filmed in Paris, New York, London, and Singapore. Mortensen and Farrell play divers John Volanthen and Richard Stanton in the film which revolves around the 2018 Thai cave rescue mission. The two men were part of the team that rescued 13 members of a football team who were trapped inside the Tham Luang cave in Thailand. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to get a global release Sony’s film adaptation of the hit anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will get a global theatrical release. The story is centered on 37-year-old Minami Satoru who is reincarnated as a slime in a new world.  Russo brothers reunites with Netflix for The Electric State Anthony and Joe Russo, who are best known for directing blockbusters like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, are reuniting with Netflix for a film titled, The Electric State.
