    Womens' Fightback 36, spring 2026

Women's Fightback is a socialist feminist magazine by Workers' Liberty. We stand for trans-inclusive, sex-positive, class struggle feminism. We organise in our workplaces and trade unions, and in the student movement and Labour Party for socialist feminist politics. Get your copy now! As we have entered 2026, we have seen crises on multiple fronts intensify across the globe. In the US, there have been eight ICE-related deaths since 1 January, Trump abducted Venezuela's leader, and continued his nationalistic programme to carve the world into rival blocs. The Epstein files have caused shockwaves across the world, but brought little justice to victims. In the UK, Reform and the far right remain on the march, and Labour hold no answers to oppose them. In this issue, we delve into these crises and stake our claim that the the workers' movement holds the power for solutions. We look at the Epstein files and the institutional betrayal which allowed wealthy men the world over to carry out, and cover up, heinous abuses. We continue to explore women's role in the far right and the institutional violence of immigration controls. We look to Iran and the fight for women's freedom renewed in recent struggles against the regime. We look at the harms caused by anti-trans rhetoric and last year's Supreme Court decision. Articles: Editorial: The world in crisis Not in the Epstein files: an institutional betryal Support Iranian women's fight for freedom ICE and its structural violence: a gendered analysis On anti-trans rhetoric: whose safety matters? Women's Fightback 35, Autumn 2025 — Class struggle feminism | Abortion access | Trans rights | Far right | More

Women's Fightback 35, Autumn 2025. This summer has seen the return of far-right marches through our streets and town centres. Under the false pretence of protecting women, far-right mobs have targeted hotels housing asylum seekers and mosques. Their racist nationalism is increasingly normalised by a Labour government that stretches further to the right to accommodate the demands of Reform. In this issue, we expose where the roots of women's oppression really lie: the system of capitalism. We explore what we mean by class struggle feminism; cover the fight for bodily autonomy – from trans rights to abortion access at home, abroad and across time; the relationship between women and the far right, and how socialists, feminists and trade unionists are fighting back. We cover revolutionary art from poetry to surrealism, and discuss how the way we talk about films, wellness and health sometimes echo broader trends towards social conservatism. Articles: A hot autumn in HE? Women's Fightback 33, Winter/Spring 2025. With Trump back in office, and the far right ascendant across large partsof the world, the challenges facing socialists and feminists are starker than ever. In this issue we hear about the fight for democracy in Putin's Russia, from a military refuser in Israel building the opposition to the occupation of Palestine, and about socialists in the US trying to reorient and rebuild. We explore the 'manosphere' and the alt-right pipeline radicalising young men in the UK, the impact that pornography is having on our sexual horizons, and much more besides – with our usual mix of history, culture, and poetry. We Stand For Workers Liberty — Pamphlet audio

Workers’ Liberty is a socialist organisation. Our members are active in workplaces, Uni campuses, trade unions, the Labour Party, and left politics. We think it is possible to replace capitalism with a better society — socialism. We think that the people who can do this are the working class. Why trade unions should not support the Morning Star — Pamphlet

This short pamphlet explains why trade unions should not be giving political and financial support to a newspaper which is not the "daily paper of the left" but the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Britain (CPB). More online and buy: https://workersliberty.org/morningstar The Morning Star is not an effective way for unions to gain support for their disputes and campaign. And the political cost of backing the Morning Sar is immense: in effect, presenting a vision of “socialism” in which the totalitarian police state of China is held up as desirable, military coups (as in Niger) are hailed as legitimate means of achieving progressive change, and nationalist illusions of “socialism in one country” are promoted as the way forward for Britain. And it’s not even true that the paper allows genuine debate on issues where there are differences on the left.

The Occupation of the Cammell Laird Shipyard in Birkenhead, 1984 — John Cunningham

Audio version of the pamphlet. More here: https://workersliberty.org/laird-occupation In 1984 workers at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead occupied their workplace in defence of jobs. The occupation and the strike which preceded it lasted just over three months, and then on 3 October the occupiers were arrested. 37 of them were found guilty of contempt of court and jailed. There is a campaign to lift the convictions. Workers’ Liberty has published this pamphlet so that we can remember those who took risks to fight to save not just their jobs but the jobs of future generations.

Effective Trade Unionism: Writings by James Connolly | Audiobook

Aiming to replace capitalism with socialism, James Connolly’s organising and ideas evolved considerably. One idea he clung to from the turn of the century to his death in 1916 was industrial unionism, workers’ solidarity across grades and trades and sympathetic strikes. That is how he saw his work with Larkin on the Irish Transport Union: a union for an industry and the members watching the moment until they could take over running the industry. His articles on that theme have never previously been collected compactly, and many appear in this short book — here in audioformat — for the first time in full since original publication. No To War: Solidarity w/Ukraine | Sotsialny Rukh, Ukraine | Ukraine Solidarity Campaign | AWL

No To War - Solidarity with Ukraine Intro and summation speeches from a meeting of the same name, Monday 1 March, 2022. Speakers: • Denys Pilash from the Socialist group Sotsialny Rukh in Ukraine. • Chris Ford from Ukraine Solidarity Campaign. • Dale Street from Workers Liberty. Putins invasion of Ukraine is to force Ukraine to be part of Russia sphere of influence at the very least and may even be about snuffing out Ukraine as an independent nation full stop. This is a naked example of brutal imperialism. Socialists, the trade union movement and Democrats need to oppose this war and support the Ukrainian peoples right to self determination and self defence. We will also be discussing the practical way we can support the Ukrainian community here in Britain. https://workersliberty.org/ukraine This is the link for people to signup and keep in touch with Workers Liberty: http://www.workersliberty.org/signup Sotsialniy Rukh on fb https://www.facebook.com/social.ruh Taras Bilous' letter https://commons.com.ua/ru/letter-western-left-kyiv/ Денис Пілаш: Here is a list of different organizations and charities which work to help Ukrainians in their anti-imperial war against Russia: The Social Movement — The Social Movement is a left-wing public organization. Who was James Connolly? With Micheál MacEoin

James Connolly is most associated with the Easter Rising of 1916 when, amidst the imperialist slaughter of the First World War, Irish republicans and the revolutionary socialist Irish Citizen Army launched an armed uprising against the British Empire. The Rising triggered a series of events, culminating in the Irish War of Independence in 1919 and the Irish Civil War, and shaped the course of modern Irish history. Before 1916, Connolly had almost three decades of activity behind him, as a socialist propagandist and a trade union organiser, in Scotland, Ireland and the United States. So who was Connolly and what were his political ideas? How did he come to be involved in the Rising, and what can socialists learn from his life, writings and political activity? Micheál MacEoin, author of a forthcoming book on Connolly, discussed these questions and more at a Workers' Liberty public meeting: this is the audio recording of the intro speech.

From climate coalition to climate movement: how to stop climate chaos! With Zack Muddle

COP26 has failed us. Humanity remains on a path towards catastrophic climate change. World leaders, serving only narrow nationalist and capitalistic interests won't challenge the power of the system accelerating climate change – so we have to. The coalition of forces taking this on is diverse but in large parts disconnected. From civil society groups like Insulate Britain, student activist networks such as the UK Student climate network, and workplace organisations popping up in various sectors. How do we cohere these groups and others to build a movement capable of stopping climate chaos?
