When the spark burns out
Welcome to Loving the Dark Parts, where we shine light on the parts we’ve been taught to hide with the help of astrology. This one is a deeper look into where I’m currently at in my business, which honestly feels quite vulnerable to share. While it’s vulnerable, it is a physical representation of the current cosmic weather, so here we are.I used to think burnout was loud. I thought it would show up with a bang, but it’s more like a quiet hum. Blink and you might think it’s a bad case of the Mondays, until you realise Monday never ends. One thing I’ve noticed, especially since leaving the world of being employed by others to becoming employed by myself, is that it’s really easy to miss the signs if you’re not paying attention.I’m not sure if it’s burnout per se, at least not full blown yet, which I’m grateful for catching before it has me completely immobilised, but it’s definitely something that has me feeling “not myself.” Maybe it’s easier to catch partly because I’m now aware of how I feel in general since getting sober and un-numbing myself, most days. I tend to go through these phases in my business (and life) where things feel… strange. I try to keep doing what I’ve been doing because it worked before, only to find out that what once worked and had me feeling so excited now has me reaching for a new series to binge instead of doing the work I love. This shows me that something needs to shift. The funny part is not actually funny at all because it makes sense:When I feel flat and I’m bordering burnout, my income stalls and things don’t flow like they did before. I bleed paid subscribers, bookings are non-existent, clients nowhere to be seen, and all of a sudden I’m not excited to show up to do the thing I once loved. Then I feel guilty for not showing up in the same way I did before until that one day during my luteal phase comes around and I need to physically peel my finger off of the big red “BURN IT ALL DOWN” button before I make a big mistake that I’ll regret in a couple days. And don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe income as an entrepreneur is meant to be linear or always growing—I’m a lover of cycles after all—but it is interesting to look deeper at the correlation between money and how I feel on the inside. It’s all energy after all.I had one of my highest income months in January of this year. And I can’t help but notice that after the expansion of income came in, my nervous system collapsed under the weight of it. It wasn’t as easy for me to show up in the same way I had been. Even though nothing changed on the outside, my insides were freaking the f**k out. Then I stopped showing up completely. My body froze, and all of a sudden the limiting beliefs came flooding in like:* Who am I to deserve this?* When will they figure out I’m actually a fraud?* Maybe it’s not as great as they think?* It was a fluke. Don’t get used to it. Hide before they realise.* You’re not going to be able to keep up with this.I’m sorry, what? You’re telling me the moment I actually start getting what I asked for, suddenly it feels like too much and I need to hide like it’s groundhog day?!This is literally all I’ve wanted. To make enough money to live comfortably, travel to see my family and a new place every once in a while, and give back to and support causes and people I believe in from my own creations and skills I’ve been developing for the past six years (and my whole life, if I’m being honest) so I don’t have to ever go back to a soul sucking nine-to-five. To help people fall in love with themselves and feel confident (the irony is not lost on me) to do what they love. Now there are signs of it happening and you can’t survive under the weight of monetary success?????I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and I’ll keep saying it until the day I die:Entrepreneurship is one of the quickest avenues to personal growth that has ever existed. In the past I would be panicking at the lack of funds reaching my bank account and the increasing expenses, but this time I’m oddly calm about it all. I’m trusting that this is the season I’m meant to be in, and that once I find that spark again, momentum will build in the way it’s meant to. I’m teaching myself how to feel safe when things happen, either good or bad, because none of it means anything about who I am. These are the moments I get to build capacity to hold what’s coming next. These are the moments where everything I’ve intellectualised turns into practice and embodiment. The moments where I practice feeling worthy even when the numbers try to tell me otherwise, because I finally understand the two are not related. Sometimes we just need to clear space in order to make room for what’s coming next.Solo travel and entrepreneurship have also allowed me to build self-trust that I didn’t have before. I know things are always working out in my favour—so that’s what I’m leaning on during this time.If there’s one thing I know, hustling and pushing and forcing and panicking is never the answer, so this time: I trust that everything is happening as it should.I will not panic. I am safe. I am worthy.Instead of panicking and hustling, I’ve decided to do something slightly insane—pour into myself.I’ve started learning pottery again because it brings me joy. I hired a coach to hold me through this season because having someone to hold up the mirror is valuable to me. I move my body at pilates every week. I’m getting massages and acupuncture. I hired a cleaner to free up some of my energy. I’m flirting again, with life and men. I’m meeting new people and putting myself out there in new ways. Heck, I even went on my first, first date in four years just the other day.A lot of these things cost money, and in the past I wouldn’t allow myself to invest in myself in fear of my bank account running dry, but this time I know the ROI is going to be worth it because loving on myself has never been a bad thing. My bank account may be dry, but I refuse to be. I trust that these things I’m feeling called to do are serving me in the way I need. I have faith that by pouring into myself I will then be able to pour into my business and my life and my community in a way that lights me up again.I’m excited to see what happens, because this time instead of freezing I’m taking action on the things that actually infuse me with life, even if it doesn’t feel practical.Wondering who the heck I am?Hi, I’m Kaitlyn! Saturn Stories 🪐 with Erin Shetron
On this episode of Saturn Stories 🪐 we’re joined by Erin Shetron who opens up about her experience with having Saturn in Capricorn in the 7th house in her natal chart, while reflecting on how the challenges and gifts of Saturn have shaped her life until this point. We explore themes of career, relationships, early childhood responsibilities, sensitivity, and being on an aligned path (rather than one that sucks the soul out of you).Saturn as an ArchetypeSaturn is often a planet that is feared or looked down upon in the astrology community, and I’m hoping to change that with these conversations. Saturn’s lessons can feel hard, as its placement in our charts is where we are here to learn in this lifetime. The best kept secret to Saturn is to make friends with this part of your chart. Learn how to step into and embrace this energy by taking responsibility in this area of life—the sooner you do, the easier it will get. Oftentimes these calls to “step up” happen at each Saturn cycle, especially the Saturn return period (between the ages of 28-31), but for some the willingness may come easier, or harder depending on how connected we are to this archetype.About ErinErin Shetron is a former startup boss turned newsletter strategist. With her signature combination of "big brain/soft soul," she works with writers and entrepreneurs to help them produce their best, most aligned, most alive work yet. In her down time, Erin enjoys walking her two scruff potatoes (one senior scruff, one puppy scruff), reading fantasy and memoir, dreaming up new visions for the feminine economy, and espousing the benefits of radical, loving honesty. Let us know in the comments! Those with Saturn in Capricorn, was 2020 a big year for you too?The Saturn ‘7-year itch’ CycleSaturn times are a time where we are often called to step up and take responsibility. Saturn wants structure, devotion, and respect. During the periods where Saturn communicates with our natal Saturn (approximately every seven years), we’re often faced with big decisions or opportunities to step into our gifts or recommit to the path we’re on—sometimes through facing challenges along the way.Erin’s Saturn Story (and a touch of Neptune)Saturn Return (29/30 years old): Capricorn* falling out with start up* was on a “traditionally successful path” but not quite the aligned path* drinking more than ever (read Holly Whitaker’s Quit Like a Woman) while reconsidering use* relationship was not right“I have to know it and I have to take responsibility for myself and get myself out of this situation and not wait for us to come to some agreement and peacefully part from each other.” ~ErinThe Lesson:“You might be the most aware person of your situation, you might know exactly all the ways that it is unhealthy, and not working for you, and perhaps even retraumitizing and triggering and just deeply upsetting and you might think that you being on top of it with all that awareness is the thing that’s going to keep you safe, but it’s not… Turning that awareness and transforming it into action is the best way to protect yourself, to live authentically, to make the life that you want… Your awareness isn’t going to save you, it’s the action that comes with it.” ~ ErinNeptune crossing the MidheavenErin talks about how things started shifting for the better after working with Alex Dobrenko` on a fun creative project, which was right around the time Neptune was transiting her midheaven in Pisces. She talks about how she was feeling rejected from the traditional marketing world—the doors were closing and she stumbled onto a more aligned path. When we lean into our Saturn lesson, things begin to flow and we’re often met with deep fulfilment and a sense of purpose on the other side of it.Erin found herself on this new path, and her life “exploded” through word of mouth referrals. She talks about how quickly things took off when she leaned into authenticity and creativity. If that’s not alignment, I dunno what is!Saturn crossing the MidheavenAt the time of this conversation in 2025, Saturn was crossing over Erin’s midheaven. We talked about how she was feeling that this path could be real and she could get comfy here. What once felt “too good to be true” is now feeling like “oh this could be (and is) a real thing.”Want to explore your own Saturn Story?Download this PDF Saturn Guide and follow along with this series. 🌙 Eclipse Season: honouring your uniqueness
I had SO much fun chatting with you guys about the solar eclipse (and the current astrology). There’s something special about being in live conversation with you, because we get to create the experience together. Special thank you to those who were in the room.“Honouring our uniqueness is what’s going to save the world.”We talked about: * what an eclipse is* the energy of the current solar eclipse in Aquarius* what makes us unique/real/human* what we’re feeling pulled (or pushed) towards* outrage and our ability to access anger* desires as a compass* and so much more!I also exposed my truth geckos 🦎🫣 since they had a lot to say.Which house is 28° Aquarius in your chart? This might be where you’re feeling an activation in your life. There’s nothing you need to do, but notice what is coming up. Eclipses can come in to move things around and rearrange what’s needed, so if there’s something ending or beginning, trust there’s a reason for it.Happy eclipse season & lunar new year!If you’re looking for extra support during eclipse season, my books are open for 1:1 sessions. You can book a reading here.New moon workshops for paid members will be back in full swing starting March 18th/19th (depending where in the world you are) under the Pisces new moon. [REPLAY] 🌑 Capricorn New Moon Vision Board Workshop
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit kaitlynramsay.substack.comIn yesterday’s New Moon Workshop we touched on the energetics of the new moon in Capricorn and began envisioning our year ahead. This is the first new moon of 2026, and the last new moon before eclipse season next month! Getting clear on your vision can truly set the tone of what’s to come in the year ahead, especially with Saturn and Neptune about to make their move into Aries, Uranus moving into Gemini, and the nodes shifting signs. Big moves are happening in the sky—and as above, so below.Getting clear on your internal desires now will create clarity for when it’s time to take action. Plant the seeds of desire so the Universe can meet you halfway. I’ve been thinking a lot about the state of the world and our responsibility in it. Each individual change we make shifts the collective, and I believe that’s what 2026 is about. Less about looking outside at everything that’s wrong, more about coming home to ourselves and leading by example. Every move you make ripples out into the world—it doesn’t need to be loud, but it does need to be you. This is the year you become more of who you are, accepting all parts of yourself, hugging the parts you’ve hidden, and allowing all of you to show up. That’s where true, sustainable change begins.Thank you to beej, Erin Shetron, and Shaista Ali for joining in on the call! Below you will find the oracle card pull, a visualisation to gain clarity, and the worksheets we used in the workshop. Upgrade your membership to paid to access the full workshop—which includes a special vision board practice to set the stage for the year ahead. I’ll also be opening up an extra session where we can work on our vision boards together in a cozy setting. More details below!

Saturn Stories 🪐 with Shaista Ali
On this episode of Saturn Stories 🪐 we’re joined by Shaista Ali who opens up about her experience with Saturn in Virgo in the 7th house in her natal, chart while reflecting on how the challenges and gifts of Saturn have shaped her life. At the time of our conversation, Shaista was also coming out of her most recent Saturn opposition, so we talk about the huge changes that were taking place in the present moment. We explore themes of service to self and others, relationships, being in the body, and honouring our needs first.Saturn as an ArchetypeSaturn is often a planet that is feared or looked down upon in the astrology community. Saturn’s lessons can feel hard, as its placement in our charts is where we are here to learn in this lifetime. The best kept secret to Saturn is to make friends with this part of your chart. Oftentimes these calls to “step up” happen at each Saturn cycle, especially the Saturn return period (between the ages of 28-31), but for some the willingness may come easier, or harder.About ShaistaShaista is a seeker. Of connection, of beauty, of truth. She finds it in the corners of the mundane, in the obvious wonders, and even in the shadows of the horrific. Sometimes especially there.Heart Chambers is her Substack of nearly three years, where she tenderly unearths the contours of her inner world. It’s been an exploratory place to remember our shared humanity, to trace the invisible threads that connect us, and to decode ancient blueprints that reveal and find at once.Born of a rich and storied lineage that informs much of her truth, she writes occasionally through the lens of first-generation, while gently releasing identities that no longer serve. She believes we will see the liberation of Palestine in our lifetime and that there is much to learn in the eyes of the oppressed. In this episode, we explore Shaista’s relationship with Saturn in Virgo in the 7th house. Shaista talks us through her own Saturn story as we connect the dots between the astrology chart and lived experience, exploring themes of giving to the point of burnout to learning to create healthy relational dynamics through caring for the self first.Saturn Placement: Virgo in the 7th houseEarth: mundane, grounding, practicality, structure, boundaries, the body, physical mattersVirgo: practicality, discernment, finding spirit in the mundane, service to self, service to others, health and wellness, connection of body mind and spirit, being rather than doing, routine, one day at a time, beauty in the small moments, purpose7th house: relationships, partnership, the shadow, the other, agreementsWhere is Saturn placed in your chart? Let us know in the comments! If you have Saturn in an earth sign, in Virgo, or the 7th house, can you relate to any parts of Shaista’s story? The Saturn ‘7-year itch’ CycleSaturn times are a time where we are often called to step up and take responsibility. As Saturn wants structure and respect. During the periods where Saturn communicates with our natal chart (approximately every seven years), we’re often faced with big decisions or opportunities to step into our gifts or recommit to the path we’re on—sometimes through facing challenges along the way.Shaista’s Saturn StorySaturn Return (28/29 years old): Virgo* working abroad, tense relationship with boss, finding the boundaries between self and service to others* ending a relationship* entering a new relationship“I realized I had more power than I thought I did.” ~ ShaistaSaturn Opposition (44/45 years old): Pisces* clear shift of no longer accepting what was accepted before* dynamic of partnership has run its course* putting self out there again (interviews, new job, writing) “My capacity is no longer the same.” ~ ShaistaThe Lesson:“I want to give and connect, but I’m not going to compromise my own needs.” ~ ShaistaThis lesson shared by Shaista ties beautifully into her Saturn in Virgo in the 7th house. She talks about how making these changes to put her own needs first didn’t mean she had to lose anything. The boundaries she has learned to set in her relationships has made the dynamic of her relationships better and more fulfilling. Shaista also ties this most recent Saturn cycle in 2025 back to her Saturn return in 2008, now knowing when to let a relationship go when it’s run its course instead of staying in toxic loops that don’t serve either person in the relationship.By leaning into Saturn, we create more space for our purpose to unfold naturally. Why the Gregorian New Year actually makes sense astrologically
This post is highly Northern Hemisphere centric, so keep that in mind as you read if you’re from the south (or closer to the equator). There’s a lot of discourse in the Northern Hemisphere at this time of year, specifically in the spiritual community, around the seemingly contradictory nature of having a new year in the dead of winter (although I’m about to outline why it’s not contradictory at all and it’s exactly how nature intended).Capricorn is a feminine sign (where we got it wrong)Capricorn is a feminine sign—earth, yin. It was never meant to be a sign related to the hustle and grind, but somehow this sign and time of year has been long associated with an external measure of success—money, status, material possessions. A dick swinging competition that leaves us feeling dry and empty over time.I believe the resistance comes from misunderstanding the natural world and looking at the sign of Capricorn with a patriarchal lens. As time went on, productivity was pushed on us until January 1st became something it was never intended to be, a time of immediate action and productivity.I used to view Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn) as a man. He was grumpy, authoritarian, and carried a stick around to beat me into shape when I would fall out of step. He had expectations of me I couldn’t uphold even if I was doing everything he said I needed to do. I thought nothing good would come without working hard, even if it killed me in the process. I thought hardening my sensitivities and pushing through with brute force would get me where I needed to go. I thought I had to climb the corporate ladder as I gained more prestige, money, and power above those beneath me. I thought I had to claw my way to the top using the bodies of everyone who was also racing for success because if they got there before me it would mean I had failed—maybe there wouldn’t be enough room at the top by the time I got there. But it never quite felt right.Until one day I realised Saturn is a woman—a wise grandmother, the matriarch—kind, encouraging, soft yet stern, and deeply present above all else. She’s the one who holds the vision for me when I can’t hold it myself, and instead of beating me into shape with a stick, she gently guides me to find my own wisdom from within, allowing me to find answers that are true to me rather than telling me how to do it her way. She knows what she’s responsible for while holding healthy boundaries, and that inspires me to learn what I am responsible for, too. She shows me what it means to be a true leader of my life by holding leadership in her own life—inspiration over authoritarianism, integrity over performance.Softness isn’t weakness, saying no to responsibilities that aren’t mine to shoulder isn’t selfish, listening to the cues of my body and respecting how I feel isn’t failure—it allows me to be present with purpose, and purposeful in my presence. Knowing what I’m responsible for creates clarity, devotion, and a true sense of fulfilment because I know exactly where to place my front foot as I move forward. It allows me to focus on the follow through because each step forward creates muscle memory. I feel so filled with purpose that if my mind tries to have my foot step on someone else’s path it wouldn’t be possible because I’m so in step with who I’m becoming that my body wouldn’t let it happen no matter what my mind has to say about it.The true Capricorn measure of success is what fills you with purpose from the inside. It’s the ability to be present with what is, and having the courage to change course or recommit to your future.“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” — the Serenity Prayer is grandmother Saturn, the essence of Capricorn energy.Darkness comes before the dawn: the return of the lightThis time of year in the Northern Hemisphere brings long nights and shorter days for some, depending on where you live. Things slow down, take longer to wake in the morning, and retreat earlier in the night. There’s a quietness of winter, like when the snow falls and everything around seems to have lost its sound until the only sound you can hear is the snow crunching beneath your feet. It’s barren, cold, and to the untrained eye it could seem like everything is dead—but that’s not the case. When it’s quiet we can hear our inner thoughts without the external noise, which is why this time of year is arguably the best time to set goals, because if we are met with external silence and aligned with our innermost workings, our goals are more likely to be aligned with our true essence and purpose. In modern times, New Year’s Resolutions have taken a different tone, unfortunately. People around the world set goals based on the outside world, they search for the noise even in the dead of night—get thin, get money, get the things that make me look good rather than what makes me feel good. When we remember that Capricorn is a feminine sign, we remember to include our intuition and our inherent sensitivities in our decision making process. We soften into the body, we feel our desires, we notice what’s alive within us knowing that under the blanket of snow is a dream waiting to be birthed, a seed ready to sprout at the first sign of spring.Grandmother Saturn reminds us we are already whole as we are, there’s nothing to fix because we were never broken. The New MoonA part of my soul withers when I see an astrologer discredit this new year, because how can someone tell me the new moon—the darkest night—is a new beginning, but somehow the darkest days are not?Everything begins in the dark. There’s a quiet preparation that happens when there is an absence of light, but societally we’re conditioned to believe the dark is bad and scary, quiet means something is missing, fast pace and productivity rule over presence.Even when the snow covers the land, there are seeds forming under the surface, hot spot embers waiting to catch wind and reignite when the snow melts, dreams waiting to be realised, death nourishing new life. There’s a reason we only dream while we sleep. It’s the mother who wakes up in the early morning before the sun and her kids so she can find presence within herself before taking on the day, connecting with self and creating the structure to be able to hold her responsibilities with full presence after tending to self first. The darkness is the new beginning, and just because it looks like nothing is happening on the outside, there is so much happening under the surface. After the darkness comes the light in both the lunar and solar cycles. The beginning of Capricorn season in the northern hemisphere holds similarities to the new moon phase. Capricorn season begins on the day the light of the sun begins its return—the days start getting longer and our life force slowly comes back. Much like the new moon phase where the light of the moon is returning too. Is returning of the light not cause for celebration itself?New beginnings are slow. Good things take time.Capricorn energy and grandmother Saturn know things that last take time and care to build and bloom, yet in a time where we place more value on speed and convenience, we tend to lose patience for delayed gratification and purpose that’s rooted in integrity. Some of my best ideas were born during the darkest days and nights—both physically and metaphorically. It’s where hope lives, where we can hear our own voice, where we can take a blank slate and create something new out of nothing.Connection to the natural worldThose who are closest to the natural world know this time holds great value in the process. I grew up in a community where farming and fishing fuel our economy, and let me tell you—things don’t stop just because it’s winter. The winter is the time where those who work hard during the on-season now have time and energy to celebrate after a long season. As things slow down externally, bonds are strengthened, parties are had, food is shared, and memories made. The winter can feel dreary and dark, and this celebratory energy brings light in a time when it’s needed most.Capricorn season is when the planning and preparation happens. Traps are rebuilt and gear is repaired, equipment is maintained, crops are planned, stock is accounted for, reviews of what did and didn’t work are conducted, and business plans for the year ahead are made. It’s a slow, quiet preparation, but it’s still movement. If the farmers and fisherman weren’t planning and preparing during this time of year, the community wouldn’t have food to eat.If someone were to look in from the outside, it may look like they’re not doing much, but that’s just not true—the internal and preparatory work is crucial to a successful year ahead, it just looks different than the outward expression of being on the water and in the fields. Again, just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t mean nothing is happening. This time of year lays a solid foundation to build on, and without it the structural integrity of the foundation wouldn’t be strong enough to hold the desired results.Similarly, if we’re to wait until the astrological new year in March to start thinking about our goals and desires, we may find ourselves feeling unprepared and unsure of where to direct our energy when the burst of Aries fire ignites again. How to use the Capricorn New Year energy: setting aligned goals from withinWith all that being said, this time of year isn’t a time for gripping, grasping, and controlling the outcomes. It’s a time to celebrate, to go within, to listen to your intuition, and to use the quiet time to realign your inner and outer worlds. While this is a new beginning, beginnings start and progress slowly (those with staying power, at least). So if you’re leaning into the energy of this new year, it’s a great time to start doing the root work—the work that can’t be seen from the outside. Similar to the new moon, it’s a time worth listening to your intuition, your inner ambitions, and how you feel. Start feeling into what actions would fill you with purpose, plan what you might do when the time is right and the energy is available, and celebrate this beautiful gift of the light and longer days returning again.Gratitude is the key to making your dreams come true, and inner alignment is required to make sure your dreams are actually yours and not for your neighbour instead.Use the darkness to your advantage—it’s not something to fear. Darkness is the womb in which true purpose is conceived. Tune out the external noise and get clear on what you truly desire. Your desires are aligned with your purpose. If we continue to set resolutions based on the external world, we only move further away from the feminine Capricorn archetype. We have more people disconnected from their true essence than ever before, more greed and power imbalances leading us down a path that becomes harder to repair. The darkness is an opportunity to align with intuitive guideposts rather than the street lamps outside of you. Capricorn doesn’t thrive on shoulds. Shoulds are what get us to the top of the wrong mountain—the mountain of greed, status, and disconnection. There’s a patience required as we sit with the darkness of Capricorn season. In modern times, 92% of new years resolutions fail simply because we set goals out of alignment and expect instant gratification without commitment.Capricorn energy and Saturn being the God of time shows us that goals set at the Gregorian new year take time to unfold. It’s not going to happen overnight, which is why it’s important to set goals that are truly aligned from within, because as we find alignment with our inner world we can develop the patience and tenacity to follow through. Goals set around this time of year are foundational, and you can’t build on a wonky base because it’s only a matter of time before it all falls to the ground. So instead of setting goals that hold no weight, think about how you want to feel moving forward in 2026. Align your goals with your internal world and what brings you a sense of purpose and peace, as Grandmother Saturn would guide us to do.* What worked last year?* What didn’t work as well as you would’ve liked?* What actions would fill you with a sense of purpose?* How might you align to that path of purpose in the year ahead? You may find you are actually more disciplined, or shall I say devoted, than you thought.2026 is a year of major astrological shifts that will bring huge collective and individual change. There is an awakening happening, which is why I’ve reconfigured the Star Membership tier to help you align your inner world with your external actions. Saturn Stories 🪐 with Brandy
On this episode of Saturn Stories 🪐 we’re joined by beej who opens up about her experience with having Saturn in Leo in the 11th house in her natal chart while reflecting on how the challenges and gifts of Saturn have shaped her life up until now.We explore themes of early childhood responsibility, drug use and overdose, unexpected pregnancy, and the reclamation of play and purpose through inner child healing.Saturn as an ArchetypeSaturn is often a planet that is feared or looked down upon in the astrology community, and this series is my effort to give Saturn the respect it deserves. Saturn’s lessons can feel hard, as its placement in our chart is where our biggest lesson lies in this lifetime. The best kept secret to Saturn is to make friends with this part of your chart. Learn how to step into and embrace this energy by taking responsibility in this area of your life—the sooner you do, the easier it will get. Oftentimes these calls to “step up” happen at each Saturn cycle (approximately every seven years), especially the Saturn return period (between the ages of 28-31), but for some the willingness may come easier, or harder.About BrandyBrandy is an operations manager in the semiconductor industry, and has spent the past few years navigating intense shifts. This period has challenged her to redefine what success looks like for her, to let go of unhealthy relationships, and to embrace creativity to keep her brain active. Through it, she has discovered a deeper sense of self-worth, purpose/self-awareness, and is excited to share how Saturn’s lessons have shaped her path. Today, she focuses on daily desires—whether it involves her latest passion for swimming, reading books again, or asking herself what she’s thankful for, all whilst continuing to grow through the cycles of transformation. In this episode, we will explore Brandy’s relationship with Saturn in Leo in the 11th house. Brandy will talk us through her own Saturn story as we connect the dots between the astrology chart and her lived experience—from childhood responsibilities taking the place of being a kid to making play a non-negotiable as an adult.Saturn Placement: Leo in the 11th houseFire: expression, play, inspiration, adventure, instinct, passion, life force energyLeo: inner child, the self/ego, play, creativity, children, self-expression, authenticity, vulnerable expression from the heart, overcoming the fear of being seen, standing in the spotlight, generosity of spirit11th house: community, friendships, big dreams and aspirationsWhere is Saturn placed in your chart? Let us know in the comments! If you have Saturn in a fire sign, in Leo, or the 11th house, can you relate to any parts of Brandy’s story? The Saturn ‘7-year itch’ CycleSaturn times are a time where we are often called to step up and take responsibility. Saturn times call for structure and respect. During the periods where Saturn communicates with Saturn in our natal chart (approximately every seven years), we’re often faced with big decisions or opportunities to step into our purpose in a more aligned way or recommit to the path we’re already on—sometimes through facing challenges and overcoming hurdles placed along the way.Brandy’s Saturn Story Through the YearsFirst Saturn square (7 years old): Scorpio* brother was born, had to take on more responsibility at home* making meals, changing diapers, etc.* “kids are to be seen and not heard”“I didn’t get to be a kid.” ~ BrandySaturn opposition (15 years old): Aquarius* mom helped her apply for her first job* starting to contribute financially for things at home“I’ve always worked. I’ve always had to work.” ~ BrandyLast Saturn square (23 years old): Taurus* overdose, car wreck, and having to be brought back to life* unexpected pregnancy that inspired her to turn her life around“The pregnancy is what made me snap out of everything.” ~ BrandySaturn Return (29 years old): Leo* getting involved in a new community* full-time student while working, being a mom, and volunteering in her community* re-living childhood through her kids“I could feel it—like, okay, I’m doing the right thing.” ~ BrandyThe Lesson:“I’m worth the investment” ~ BrandyBrandy shared that her biggest lesson during this time was faith and time-management. She learned to be her own biggest cheerleader when she realised that others weren’t going to cheer her on in the way she needed, because she was carving an unconventional path. By moving over 2,000 miles away from her family and finding new community while juggling it all, she was able to build faith and trust in herself to not only make it work, but to thrive. She now intentionally invests in the things that light her up like swimming, art, unplugging when she can, and travelling once a month. Saturn Stories 🪐 with Kris
On this episode of Saturn Stories 🪐 we’re joined by guest, Kris Onyx, who opens up about her experience with Saturn in Cancer in the 7th house in her natal, chart while reflecting on how the challenges and gifts of Saturn have shaped her life.We explore themes of home, family dynamics, relationships, mental health, emotional wisdom, and finally finding a shell that fits.Saturn as an ArchetypeSaturn is often a planet that is feared or looked down upon in the astrology community. Oftentimes these calls to “step up” happen at each Saturn cycle, especially the Saturn return period (between the ages of 28-31), but for some the willingness may come easier, or harder.About KrisKris Onyx is a reluctant admin assistant, aspiring world traveller, and proud parent of Bodhi the kid and Baxter the cat.In this episode, we will explore Kris’ relationship with Saturn in Cancer in the 7th house. Kris will talk us through her own Saturn story as we connect the dots between the astrology chart and lived experience—from latchkey kid to finding a sense of home from within.Saturn Placement: Cancer in the 7th houseWater: sensitivities, emotions, intuition, flow — learning about the emotional bodyCancer: healing wounds from childhood, nurturing self first, letting go of the past, building legacy from emotional maturity, finding/creating home, family dynamics, traditions, parental relationships7th house: relationships, partnership, the shadow, the other, agreementsIf you have Saturn in a water sign, in Cancer, or the 7th house, can you relate to Kris’ story? The Saturn ‘7-year itch’ CycleSaturn times are a time where we are often called to step up and take responsibility. As Saturn wants structure and respect. During the periods where Saturn communicates with our natal chart (approximately every seven years), we’re often faced with big decisions or opportunities to step into our gifts or recommit to the path we’re on—sometimes through facing challenges along the way.Kris’ Saturn Story Through the YearsFirst Saturn square (7 years old): Libra* challenging family dynamics, and parents’ separation* learning to cope by isolating and getting lost in books* emotionally detaching from the family unit“We were all just going our own way.” ~ KrisSaturn opposition (16 years old): Capricorn* left mother’s home to live with dad* reinvention of self, identity shifts and redefining “home”* a new sense of independenceLast Saturn square (22/23 years old): Aries* moved into punk house* paying the bills and taking the role of “mom” while shouldering the responsibilities of the house“I was the mom. I paid all the bills. I had two jobs. I lost myself completely.” ~ KrisSaturn Return (29 years old): Cancer* navigating depression, exhaustion, and health challenges* identity crisis, feeling like a shell of herself* hearing about the tsunami in Thailand and feeling an urge to help“By my 30th birthday, I didn’t even know who I was anymore.” ~ KrisThe Lesson:“Knowing where my home is, and not making my home in other people.” ~ KrisThis lesson shared by Kris ties into the themes of Saturn in Cancer and the 7th house beautifully. The goal with this placement is to make home within yourself first by nurturing your needs. Trusting the signals of your body and intuition are important. Nurturing the emotional body by letting emotions flow and be released from the physical body will create space rather than letting emotions get stuck and stagnant. Once a sense of safety is created from within creating safe and intimate connections with others will come easier. When we lean into our Saturn lesson, things begin to flow and we’re often met with deep fulfilment and a sense of purpose.Want to explore your own Saturn Story?Download this PDF Saturn Guide and follow along with this series. The Astrology of a Viral Moment: White House East Wing Demolition Photo
When I first saw Katie and Amanda B. Hinton’s live video here on Substack where they talked about Katie’s photo of the East Wing demolition going viral, the first thing I thought was, “I need to know what was going on in her chart.”A misconception about astrology is that it’s all woo, but astrology is actually a language built through collecting data points across the timeline of life and history. It’s a continuous experiment, and experiences like Katie’s are a great opportunity to add to the collection. In our time together, we talked about what astrology is, how it can be helpful for nervous system regulation and being ready for moments like this, and how embodying your natal chart can open opportunities when the planetary transits come around so we can be ready for “right place, right time.” We touched on some signatures in Katie’s own natal chart, and how the sky was activating her natal chart the day she took the photo of the White House from her seat on the plane that day.Right place, right timeKatie’s photo took off as quickly as the plane she was on that day. She explained that there were many moving pieces that had to align to make the picture possible—like getting upgraded last minute, her phone camera, and even being present enough to look out the window and pay attention. Not only was all of this in alignment, it wasn’t anyone else on the plane who took this photo (although it could’ve been)—it was Katie. “It’s what happens when you’re living your chart and moving in alignment with your own energies.” ~ KaitlynThe first thing I noticed about Katie’s natal chart was her Scorpio sun conjunct Uranus in her natal chart. She’s got built in intuition, and Uranus on her sun can have things moving and changing at lightning speed, allowing Katie to be quick on her feet. This intuitive signature was activated by the moving planets in the sky on the day she took the photo. The moon is our emotional reaction; Mercury is the mind, communication, and even social media; and Mars is the instinctual action—these three planets in conjunction to her sun (identity) and Uranus (the unexpected) made magic happen in real time.“I don’t even remember taking the picture, I have to be honest. I think I blacked out. I’ve tried to remember the moment. I remember being like, I should look out the window, and then I remember looking down at my phone and I have pictures. I don’t remember.” ~ KatieNot only was this signature activated, but at that moment the North Node in Pisces was activating her career and public image (MC) and her emotional body (moon) in a favourable way. This one gave me goosebumps. It could’ve been anyone on that side of the plane in that moment to take that photo, and Katie did it by pure instinct. She couldn’t have planned in the moment what would happen after sharing it with the group chat (then socials). It quickly took off and was picked up by major news outlets and her photo was suddenly in the spotlight.Co-creation and being prepared for when luck strikesIn our conversation, we talked about how being prepared is just as important as the moment itself. Katie is living her natal promise and she was ready for the moment when the opportunity was there for the taking. “It’s not just the fact that it was that moment in time and getting lucky in some of those things, but it was all the things that I did before that to be prepared for that particular moment.” ~ KatieShe had already been building before the moment happened—like her relationships with news outlets and social media following. Katie was doing the work in alignment with her chart (whether conscious or not), and all of those pieces led her to being prepared for that moment of fate.Katie referenced Ina Garten’s memoir Be Ready When the Luck Happens—it’s not just the moment that makes things like this happen, but rather how we approach it and move within the moment that makes it work, or not. “We kind of have to do that work in co-creation with the outside forces. It’s not just like this will happen on this day—it’s like, okay, this is the energy that’s available, and are you ready for it?” ~ KaitlynLiving authenticallyIn order to do this co-creation work with the outside forces, we need to be living in alignment with who we truly are, rather than what others expect of us. If we’re trying to follow someone else’s path, opportunities like this will pass us by because we aren’t in the place to receive them.Katie talked about her own life and how she lives unconventionally (hello, Uranus on the sun). Knowing about her Capricorn moon on the MC in the 10th house helped her release guilt around finding fulfilment in her career rather than more traditional path. “I’ve been finding that the more I’ve been learning to work with energy—my energy, the collective energy, the energy of people I’m closest to—I’m becoming more and more in tune with my intuition. It keeps getting louder.” ~ KatieAs we walk in alignment with who we truly are, our intuition gets louder and we build the trust muscle with the Universe. We’re able to recognise what is for us and feel confident in moving towards it, even if it looks different than what others expect from us.Be sure to check out Katie’s work at Anchor Change where you can find “curated news, thoughtful analysis, and personal reflections that bridge the gap between tech and democracy.”Thank you to Katie Harbath for joining me live. And thank you Kristen Luiso, Benjamin, and many others for tuning into our chat! It was nice to have you in the room.If you’re curious about your own natal chart and how you too can live in alignment with your life, strengthen your intuition and trust muscle with the Universe, and be ready for moments of opportunity when they strike, book a 1:1 astrology reading here. [REPLAY] 🌑 Cancer New Moon Workshop
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit kaitlynramsay.substack.comIn yesterday’s New Moon Workshop we touched on the energetics of the new moon in Cancer. The new moon in Cancer held whisperings of home, family, and how we nurture ourselves and others. One of the big things that stood out to me in the chart was the yod including Pluto, Mars, Jupiter, and the sun and moon. To me, this screams expansion of the authentic self through discernment and nurturing of our internal worlds. We’re at a tipping point collectively, and I don’t know about you, but I believe my part in what happens next includes me getting clear on what I feel while also calling myself on my own b******t and taking a different path into the future. It’s time to take care of ourselves so we can show up for others with full hearts and deep compassion. The new moon in Cancer is a great time to plant the seeds.A big thanks to BrandyJean♐️, Erin Shetron, Kris Onyx, and Kristen Luiso for showing up live and making the workshop feel like a warm hug. [REPLAY] Taurus New Moon Workshop
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit kaitlynramsay.substack.comHappy (?) new moon in Taurus! This is the first new moon since the chaotic season that was Aries, eclipses, and retrogrades. Now it’s time to slow down, ground, and create a sense of safety in your body so the roots of your seedling can thrive. Nourishment is the name of the game. This isn’t your regular ol’ peaceful Taurus new moon—there’s tension in the sky between the sun, moon, Mars, and Pluto. There could be something or someone challenging you (especially for those with planets in the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius). While it may be uncomfortable, it’s also creating momentum and motivation that may be needed to create real change. Ask yourself what you want to experience at a cellular level—is your current foundation supporting your nervous system or is there something that could have you feeling safer from within? The full video replay is available to paid members, along with access to the Cosmic Classroom and upcoming workshops. If you’d rather skip this one, here are some free Taurus Season resources instead:I’ve also recorded two Taurus season videos over on YouTube that may be helpful—one about the general season overview, and the second is an oracle card pull for each of the zodiac signs.

You’re Probably Wrong About Astrology
In this episode I give the low down on what astrology CAN and CANNOT do for you. Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. Unpacking Kendrick Lamar's Astrology Chart
One of my favourite ways to learn astrology is to look at charts of those we know; whether it be in our own lives, ourselves, or figures in pop culture. Today we’re going to dive deeper into Kendrick Lamar’s chart since he’s currently having a moment. If you’re reading this in email, you may not be able to see the whole article, so click through to read it on the website if you don’t want to get cut off near the end. Also, the video for the audio post is available on YouTube if you’d like a visual to follow along to while you listen.I don’t watch American football, but like many others who fit into that category, I do enjoy a good halftime show. The other day, I was sitting on the couch wondering what I should do when I opened my laptop and went to YouTube to watch Kendrick Lamar and his team on the stage. Not long after pressing ‘play’ did I realise this was much deeper than entertainment, and even deeper than petty drama, and as soon as Samuel L. Jackson spoke, tears started welling up in the corners of my eyes—I should’ve expected that knowing who Kendrick Lamar is, and by his previous work.Naturally, after the 15 minutes were over and I collected myself and went straight to the internet to find Kendrick Lamar’s birth information so I could geek out on his chart. What makes him, “him?”I was eager to find out.I’m not here to talk about the show specifically—there are many writers out there who can speak more deeply to the symbolism and the deeper meaning and speculations behind the art, and with that being said, art is subjective anyway. If you didn’t understand what was going on, if you didn’t like it, or if you didn’t even give it a chance because of who was on the stage, cool. I’m not here to tell you what to feel, and that’s not how art “works” anyway.I would encourage you to look more deeply into it and possibly learn something new. The show went way past the Drake drama (though a great way to pull people in), and if you didn’t understand it, it might be worth reading some of the pieces linked below. Admittedly, some of it went over my head, and I’ve been deep down the rabbit hole since. Here are some writers unpacking the show itself:Kin+ and Kahlil Greene break down the show and the symbols you might’ve missed.Samantha Perkins touches on Kendrick’s sobriety and how it’s upping her and her husband’s “cool factor” with their kids. We need more examples of badass sober folks on the stage, if you ask me—and Kendrick Lamar is a great example of one of them.Brandon O'Sullivan and Phil put together this guide that runs through Kendrick Lamar’s discography for a broader sense of his artistry. Now, what I’m here for—Kendrick Lamar’s astrology chartThe WordsmithKendrick Lamar’s sun is in Gemini, much like many other big name rappers of our time, which instantly makes sense given that Gemini is the wordsmith. His ability to form and align words in a way that communicates an idea to us in a way that sparks curiosity or sends a message. Many people don’t see the depth of the sign of Gemini at first glance because we often see the surface level embodiment—the pettiness (we may have saw a bit of it on Sunday 👀 hey Drake), the flakiness, the wit, and the humour—but Gemini is much more than that. At the highest expression, Gemini is a channel bringing ideas from heaven to earth—the messenger much like Mercury himself ensuring that the message is received by everyone who needs to hear it. When I look at Lamar’s chart, I see his Gemini sun sits in the 9th house, which is the house of higher education, spirituality and religion, as well as international travel. In a conversation with Rick Rubin, he talks about how he gains much of his inspiration from travel and having conversations with people from all walks of life. It’s the house where the student of life becomes the teacher—it’s giving prophet. A 9th house Gemini sun is the storyteller, the one who teaches through the arc of a story, which is what many of his albums tend to do. Religion and spirituality are themes that run through his music, and seem to be a big part of his own life. When we take it a step deeper, we see his Gemini sun is no usual Gemini sun because it’s conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer. When I saw this, my first question was “I wonder if he has a wound around communication or learning? Was he always able to communicate effectively or did he have to work for this?”Through a quick search I found out he had a stutter when he was younger that continued into High School, and he sometimes struggled to pronounce certain words. Something that often happens with Chiron conjunct sun natives, is they’re drawn to lean into the wound to find creative ways to heal, much like the myth of Chiron himself. They gain tools along the way, and eventually may become someone who helps others heal as they gain wisdom. Lamar leaned way into the art of communication, finding healing in a communication style that worked for him—music. The ArtistThe moon represents our emotional body, and for Kendrick, his emotions are best processed through art, solitude, spirituality, and taking care of his energy. Pisces moons are poets, and they are deeply empathetic. I would imagine Kendrick feels the collective pain, and the pain is then transmuted into art that makes us feel things. The low road of this placement would be getting lost in it. One thing I find cool about him (I may be biased here) is that he’s sober. Pisces moons are extra sensitive, especially to substances. The low road of Pisces placements would be getting lost in the pain, which could lead to trying to escape the human experience by way of drugs, alcohol, video games, or anything that allows us not to feel. I would imagine his sobriety is something that can truly allow him to feel the full spectrum of the human experience, which in turn allows us to feel more through his music. He’s one of the few artists that I completely feel when his music fills my ears. His art transports you to another place and immerses you in an experience even if you haven’t experienced what he talks about. His Pisces moon is in his 5th house of children, romance, and joy. In that conversation with Rick Rubin, he mentions how important children are to his own creative process. Many of his songs were sparked by having conversations with kids and seeing through their fresh perspective. The PeacemakerKendrick Lamar has a Libra rising, which means we meet him as someone who embodies justice, balance, and harmony. His soul is striving for peace—and not the conflict avoidant type. With Pluto in Scorpio in the 1st house, he holds up a mirror in our faces. The internet has been full of people triggered by him and his performance, which to me feels a lot like Pluto pushing the buttons of those who aren’t ready to meet their own shadow. Lamar pushes buttons and elicits the shadow to come out to play as he holds the mirror to parts of us we may be uncomfortable with.I thought it was interesting that his big three are all signs of duality, which is the whole concept of his Pulitzer Prize winning album(s) “Damn.” Here’s a video that goes deep into the album, if it’s something you’re into. The ChangemakerThe first thing I noticed when I looked at Lamar’s chart was Uranus in Sagittarius opposing his Gemini sun. He’s here to speak the uncomfortable truths in the name of justice and change. He’s here to shake up our belief systems by way of communication. This could also be the part of him that is here to create change through storytelling, as Gemini and Sagittarius both represent stories and words—the thing is, it’s not always going to be comfortable and often times what he says will confront deeper parts of us. With his sun in the 9th house, he’s a leader. He’s using story to lead by example for future generations, while using his words (Uranus in the 3rd house) to break through to our current generation, too. Sagittarius is blunt, honest, and straight to the point—he’s not afraid to say what many of us would usually hold back on. He takes a different approach to other artists in his genre, by going deeper than the surface level—he digs deeper into his own emotional body to pull out the full spectrum of the human experience. His work in this lifetime is to own his honesty by being direct. He’s also got Saturn in Sagittarius, which means he’s here to learn to be okay with causing controversy by speaking up. With the task of speaking truth, there’s a price to pay for owning what you say. It may ruffle feathers, but he’s here to lean into it because it’s important work—for him and the collective. The Finger of GodPluto is also at the apex of a yod in his chart, which has been recently activated in his chart. Yods are a call to action—when people have a yod in their chart, they often feel called to a specific purpose.Yods are referred to as the “finger of God,” so you could imagine it carries a bit of weight. Pluto in this case makes an aspect called a quincunx to both Venus and his North Node—but what does this mean in English?I rewrote the devil’s story just to take our power back ~ Kendrick Lamar, ReincarnatedVenus in Gemini (which is the ruler of his chart) is the part of him that values words and communication. It’s in the 8th house of intimacy—his ideas run deep, his words carry depth. He digs quite deep into his own human experience, and he’s talked about how he has taken ideas from his therapy sessions to write songs about what he’s learned in his own life. He’s not here to play it safe.Venus sextiles his North Node in Aries. This is the part of him that is called forward into action to fight for what he believes in. It sits in his 6th house of daily habits, and it’s the part of him that is called to be direct and to take courageous steps forward in his work. When he takes risks, he’s rewarded. Both of these points in his chart are at odds with Pluto in his first house. This is where the weight is felt most deeply. With Pluto in his first house, he is continuously going through transformation. He may feel as though he’s lived many lives in one. Pluto is related to power, so this could bring power struggles and dynamics in relationships with others, and within himself. Not only does he experience in this in his personal life, but on a collective level given the nature of his work. He’s here to level power dynamics, reclaim and redistribute power, unearth truths that were once hidden, and shine a light on the truth for all to see—no matter how uncomfortable the truths may be. His authenticity is his superpower. This is the part of him that inspires others through his own willingness to journey through his own shadows. When we look at the yod as a whole, Lamar is using the communication (Venus in Gemini) of his values to support his courage to fight (NN Aries) to create deep change and transformation (Pluto in Scorpio) and to put it all on the table. He’s holding a mirror up, not only to himself, but to the world through his art. The controversy about Kendrick Lamar directly reflects the divide within society today.Current TransitsCurrently, his Cancer placements are being lit up as well. Natally, he has Mars and Mercury both in Cancer, as well as his midheaven. He’s a natural leader—something people tend to overlook when thinking of the sign of Cancer. Lamar is a leader who cares and nurtures those around him. He’s known for highlighting other artists and sharing the spotlight, which we saw at the halftime show with SZA and Serena Williams. With Mars and Mercury up there, too, he fights for those he cares about. He’s motivated by a deep sense of purpose in protecting loved ones. In his conversation with Rick Rubin, he talks about finding the emotion he felt when he first had a thought or idea for a song, and he taps back into the emotion when he sits with it again to bring it to life through his expression. He’s deeply motivated by his emotional body. He’s in touch with his emotions and he’s not afraid to go deep, which we can feel through his music (I can, at least). He’s currently experiencing his progressed moon in Cancer highlighting his career in the 10th house. This is a time where he’s gaining recognition and he’s in the spotlight, clearly. With this transit, he’s nurturing his career and pouring love into his work. Vulnerability is encouraged to be expressed, and in my opinion, he’s doing a great job.Mars is also straddling his midheaven, natal Mars, and Mercury. There’s extra energy being funnelled into that part of his chart, and his life. We can see it pretty clearly in the mainstream with his new album release, his Grammy wins, and the halftime show.Jupiter is also expanding his value system and bringing light to one of the deepest parts of his chart—the 8th house of shared resources. This is activating the yod I mentioned before.Saturn is now conjunct his moon, so he may be going through a period of emotional maturity. This is probably a more personal experience, and I can’t speak to how he’s feeling, but I would imagine there may be some feelings of restriction around his emotional body, or an upleveling in how he processes those emotions. I would imagine it takes a lot out of him to be in the spotlight, especially with his Pisces moon loving solitude. And lastly, he’s experiencing his Saturn square which is another maturation point. His life lesson (Saturn in Sagittarius) is up for review, and we saw it loud and clear on Sunday.I want to hear from you:* What did you think of the half time show, if you watched it?* If you’re an astrologer (or learning), what did I miss in his chart? The Astrology of February 2025
This is me trying something new as I navigate the shifts and changes going on within and around me—in my business and in my personal life. The Pisces energy in the sky is sitting right smack dab in my 10th house of career, so naturally I’m re-imagining what I want this area to look, and more importantly, feel like. So thank you for being along for the ride.I’d love to hear how these forecasts feel for you, too. Are they helpful or not so much?I’m considering (and currently hyper aware of) the line between current topics and transits vs. depth in personal astrology using the natal chart, as I think about where I want to put my focus in my own work and astrology practice. This is me letting you know what’s going on in my head, and asking for your feedback so I can create a space where we all win, while being mindful of my own limits as I’m a one woman show.Quick RecapIn this episode, I talk about my personal challenges with finding my written word and the influence of astrological transits on my own emotional state and creative energy. I also explore the astro-weather for the month ahead; including the North Node in Pisces, Venus in Aries, and the upcoming Mercury cazimi. I touched on the sun's entry into Pisces and Mars retrograde (soon to be moving direct) in Cancer, and announced the last New Moon workshop before eclipse season.Astrology of FebruaryFebruary 4 - Jupiter directFebruary 5 - Venus enters AriesFebruary 7 - NN conjunct NeptuneFebruary 10 - Mercury cazimiFebruary 12 - Sun square UranusFebruary 12 - Full moon in LeoFebruary 14 - Mercury enters PiscesFebruary 18 - Sun enters PiscesFebruary 24 - Mars direct in CancerFebruary 27/28 - New moon in PiscesIf you’d like to join us for the next New Moon Workshop on February 28th, become a paid member to join us live and/or catch the replay. Navigating Through the Chaos: New Moon in Aquarius Video
I’m opening this one up to all—it’s a complimentary video I recorded in place of the scheduled live New Moon Workshop call that I had to cancel due to feeling sick. Thank you to those who signed up and for understanding. I appreciate you sticking around, and I hope to see you next month at the New Moon in Pisces Workshop.New MoonsAre a time to go within, much like the sky at night during this time—it’s dark. If we’re mimicking our natural rhythms, we may use new moon times as a time to slow down, go within, turn the lights down low, and rest more to allow space for intuitive insights.Working with Aquarius energy:* Zoom out - employ the observers perspective* Unplug from the hive-mind (or the internet) to find new ideas and innovations* Less scrolling, more time alone, detach if needed* Grounding. Uranian energy can be electrifying—if you’re feeling anxious, get out in nature or employ any grounding techniques that work for you)* Connect with your community for support (or to be of support to them)New Moon in Aquarius Journal Prompts:* In what area of your life have you been staying inside the box?* Is there something you’ve been obsessing over?* Where are you feeling pulled to break the rules or live more unconventionally?Look to where 9° Aquarius falls in your own chart for extra insight around these questions. Pop which house this is for you in the comments below and I’ll give you some astro-aligned insights, or share anything that came up as you journaled.Oracle Card Pull for the New Moon in Aquarius“When Badger Spirit comes to protect you, he reminds you that anger or aggression, argumentative behavior, and being pushy or manipulative will not result in a positive outcome. Perhaps someone close to you has excess Badger energy, or perhaps that energy is pent up in you. Either way, now is the time to calm down and allow the energy to pass through you. Go for a hike or brisk walk, shake it off, dance it out so you can return to the situation determined and committed, but not so intense that you overwhelm others and ourself. The appearance of Badger Spirit also serves as a reminder if you have been relentless pursuing something that keeps eluding you. The message is that it’s time to surrender it up to your Higher Power and focus on something else. Badger Spirit wants to protect you from self-will run rampant—from being obsessed with getting what you want in the form you prefer, in timing that fits perfectly with your notions of what has to be. Remember, the world doesn’t revolve around your wants. Better, more beautiful opportunities will be the result when you release some of that Badger Spirit intensity along with your need to have it your way one hundred percent.”~ The Spirit Animal Oracle by Colette Baron-ReidWhat’s going on at LTDP…* Sign up for the upcoming new moon workshops to put it in your calendar and receive reminders when the time is near! Everything is Unfolding as It Should
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋 I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. My focus is to inspire you to feel confident enough to shine without the fear, regardless of the expectations of others.Reflection—North Node Aries, South Node Libra—July 2023 to Jan 2025For the past year and a half, we’ve been moving through a period of evolution in our relationships. You may have noticed your relationships of all sorts going through an upgrade, including the most important relationship—the one to yourself. The nodes of the moon offer us 18 month windows of opportunity to balance out a certain axis of our life. From July 2023 until this month, the North Node has been in the sign of Aries, the self, while the South Node has been in the sign of Libra, the other.North Node: where we’re headed - our growth edgeSouth Node: where we’ve been - our comfort zoneSome astrologers say the South Node is what we’re meant to leave behind, but that’s not how we roll here. There’s a balance that needs to be found between the two energies—they are similar, while also being opposites—by creating a cohesive conversation between both ends of the spectrum. One can’t exist without the other, they work in tandem. The South Node is often where we find comfort, where we come back to for safety and refuge, where we’ve become masterful—our gifts. Please don’t throw away your gifts, use them to propel you forward rather than getting lost in them. Looking at your own South Node will give you clues as to where this comfort is for you, and while the South Node moves through the sky, we will also experience this energy highlighted in our lives collectively, as well as individually.Since 2023, we’ve been letting go of old habits relating to the sign of Libra in the area of our lives where this energy is expressed in our chart. Some of these low road Libra habits could be people-pleasing, indecisiveness, inability to commit, being nice rather than direct and honest, and codependency. During this time, there could’ve been tension created from these unhealthy habits, prompting you to use the valuable lessons to move towards the North Node in Aries. Leaning into the North Node in Aries could bring more direct communication, instinctual action, individuation, and independence. One thing I’ve noticed from observing the nodes, is that we often start at the low road of the south node, swing the pendulum to the low road of the north node, and then the pendulum continues to swing back and forth until we find a healthy balance. By the end of the cycle, we feel more equipped in the areas of life that have been highlighted, finding a flow that works for us.Libra and Aries are cardinal signs which means you might have noticed the past year and a half was about getting s**t done, standing up, and taking charge in new ways.Unbalanced SN Libra:* People pleasing* Codependency* Indecisiveness/flakiness* Beating around the bushUnbalanced NN Aries:* Aggressive and rude* My way or the highway attitude* Violence* Acting impulsively without considering the consequencesBalanced Aries/Libra:* Healthy boundaries* Interdependence* Ability to make decisions* Direct and respectful communication* Self trust and consideration for othersDuring this period, I was in my first romantic relationship since I had decided to get sober. It was with someone who I had known in what I often refer to as “my past life” as a drinker; we didn’t really know each other well, and we had brief history, but he slid into my DMs and I thought “what’s the harm?” We met for coffee and continued from then.I learned a lot about myself as a sober person in a relationship with someone who works in a bar and brews beer for a living—in hindsight, we were kind of setting ourselves up for failure from the jump. What this relationship taught me was how important it is to have values and lifestyles that are aligned, as well as how to honour my own needs without falling into codependent habits and morphing into someone more palatable for the sake of a relationship. While I was in bed by 9pm, he was slinging drinks until the early hours of the morning. While he was sleeping in after a hard night’s work, I was drinking my first coffee and getting my day started. We rarely saw each other, and I think that’s probably why we stayed together so long—we didn’t really get much of an opportunity to get to know each other deeply, which is something I now realise is a core value of mine in relationships.During this period of the nodes being in Libra and Aries, I learned how to identify and ask for what I need. My boundaries became more clear (even though I didn’t always honour them in the beginning) and I was able to speak up about how I felt. This makes sense astrologically because the South Node was blitzing through my 5th house of romantic relationships. When we broke up in March, we were able to talk about what happened, and what brought us to this breaking point. It was mutual, we both needed something the other person couldn’t provide, and we realised the relationship had hit a dead end. No hard feelings, just mutual respect.Later when he came back to ask to try again, I knew in my heart I couldn’t live a life with this person—not because of his character, but because if it hadn’t worked by this point, we weren’t going to be able to make it work without some major lifestyle shifts that neither of us were willing to make. I stayed true to myself in a situation that I would have folded on in the past, out of a need to be loved by someone other than myself. What decisions have you made in honour of your own needs over the past 18 months? The nodes transiting through Libra and Aries allowed me the opportunity to provide what I needed to myself first, so if and when I do meet someone new, a relationship won’t be coming from a place of lack and a need being filled, but rather from a place of mutual understanding and interdependence where we can grow individually and together. On the other hand, after my romantic relationship ended, I went into a bit of isolation. I didn’t spend much time with others, and I really soaked in my own energy. I didn’t fully lean into the North Node being in my 11th house of community. Looking back, my boundaries did a pendulum swing to the other end of the spectrum and I blocked out the world. At this point, I’m finding the balance between how much time I need to spend on my own versus how I want my relationships (of all varieties) to progress, knowing that in order to connect with others I need to put myself out there. What is one thing you’ve learned about yourself and your relationships since July 2023?Looking ahead—North Node Pisces, South Node Virgo—Jan 2025 - July 2026Virgo and Pisces are mutable signs, which means we may be letting things go over the next 18 months. I’ve already noticed how people are approaching the year ahead by slowing down, easing in, and doing less rather than taking on more. Starting the year with Mars retrograde is helpful for that, and I think we’ll continue to see this trend over the next year and a half.Saturn has already been in Pisces since early 2023, so we’ve been experiencing an initiation into the Pisces themes in our lives. The North Node will just amplify our attention and continue to balance the areas of our chart ruled by Virgo and Pisces. Here are the outs and ins of 2025/26 from the lens of the current South and North Nodes.Out:* Criticism of self and others* Placing blame* Perfectionism and the need to be “right”* Martyrdom and staying in situations that bring you down* Hyper-rigidity without room for flow* Anxiety, overwhelm, and worry* Getting stuck in the details and logic* Escapism/numbing/trying to get out of the 3D* Lack of boundariesIn:* Compassion for self and others* Locking in your spiritual practices/faith* Finding God in the mundane* Creating and sustaining boundaries* Knowing what you want to be responsible for and letting God handle the rest* Leaning into compassion for self and others* Inviting more flow, imagination, and trusting a higher power* Being mindful of where you put your attention and energy* Spending time in solitude/with spirit/(co)creating/imagining* Meditation and down time* Creative acts* Seeing people as they are, accepting them, and releasing the need to change them* GratitudeAs we move through the next 18 months, you may find yourself teetering between these two places. Leaning into your spiritual practices will be helpful—maybe you take up meditation, slow walks, pottery (like me), yoga, painting, or other creative endeavours. It may also be a time of revisiting your relationship with God, the Universe, Creator, Higher Power—anything outside of yourself that you put faith into. I think this will be a time where we see more value placed into “woo” as more people discover the value in our unseen resources. It’s also a time to bring any dreams into reality. Pisces is the dreamer—the one with its head in the clouds, imagining worlds and ideas that possibly come straight from Source itself. Virgo is devoted—the one who can bring a dream to life through practical application, it can make and execute the plan step-by-step, parsing away anything that isn’t useful (I repeat—getting rid of unnecessary stress/actions/bs), leaving the rest to shape into something tangible.Look to where Pisces lands in your own chart, this is where your growth edge is for the next cycle. Where does Virgo land? This is where you have some cleaning up to do. Let me know in the comments and I’ll give you some insight. If you need help finding the houses in your chart, here’s a video that may help.I can slowly feel myself feeling more—I’m not sure if it’s the big fat Cancer full moon in the sky (accompanied by Mars), all the water in the sky, the collective grief, or if it’s just the initiation into being present with what is happening within and around me—but I know I’m feeling sensitive, and I’m not mad about it.Over the past year and a half while the nodes were in Aries and Libra, I didn’t honour my sensitivities, I walled myself off and intellectualised what was happening, which has value, but no more. I can feel myself opening up to the possibility of connecting with my community in a new way, through our similarities and our differences. So much so that my word for this year is “connect.” It’s easy for me to isolate, and this year I’m making it a point to lean into seeing myself in others, and them in me.As an addict in recovery, my go to move is to escape—recently it has been into work or scrolling and reading the amazing Substack posts, binge-watching tv, etc. My boundaries with people have gone up, while my energetic boundaries have taken a back seat. I’m consuming more and I can feel my nervous system taking a toll. I’m at a point where I want to create more than I consume, try new things, get back into music (I’ve been scouring the internet for a digital piano so I can tickle the ivory plastic once again), get my hands into clay with pottery, look into the eyes of everyone I come in contact with even if just for a moment, share laughs with strangers and friends, and believe in myself more than ever before. I want to feel connected again, because I’ve spent much of these almost five years of sobriety protecting myself and my new found sensitivities, which is exactly why I drank in the first place. I’m ready to feel it all. I’ve already noticed a difference within myself as I have started making this a priority. My eyes are welling up just thinking about how much I’ve isolated myself, robbing myself of beautiful connections. I can’t be too hard on myself, though, because at least now I know what I don’t want. Life is too short to hold back, and I’m ready to put more of my trust into powers outside of me, because it’s f*****g exhausting trying to control every damn outcome. What’s going on at LTDP:* The next Cosmic Classroom article will teach you all about the modes in astrology. The Shadow of the "Opposition" Lives Within You and Me
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋 I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. My focus is to inspire you to feel confident enough to shine without the fear, regardless of the expectations of others. In this post I will touch on the current political landscape and take a time machine back to the pandemic. If you’re not in a space to read about it, feel free to come back another time, or skip it all together. If you do continue to read, I ask that you keep an open mind and be gentle with yourself and anyone who you may come in contact with in the comments. The wave of the past week is starting to level out. I battled with my inner world throughout the past few days as my own emotional wave ebbed, flowed, crashed, and burned. I bit my tongue because I felt an unexpected fire within me—not from the election results themselves, but from the aftermath. It was an interesting ride to grapple with, and an unexpected one because I’m not even American (though I would argue that what happens in the US affects many of us all over the globe in one way or another, even if not exclusively through a political lens), but I am human.I witnessed as some Liberals turned into those they claim to hate—spewing harsh words towards their “opponents.” Words like idiot, psycho, rapist, racist, misogynist, and more flooded my feeds coming from the fingertips of those who I once considered myself to align with. Confusion and heartbreak took over my body as I watched the people I once related to and agreed with turn into the oppressors they claim to hate—I wondered if they realised the irony of the hate speech they were spewing. For a group that prides themselves on inclusivity, exclusivity is one of the strongest approaches to how many are now moving in the world these days. I understand the feelings around it, as I felt some of them myself, but it’s important to remember the power we continue to hold. The Great Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction of 2020As the days went on I felt my body go back to 2020, around the time of the vaccine rollout during the pandemic. Many of those names above were names I was called back then, all because of a decision I made for my own body. I was told I didn’t care about the wellbeing of others—that I was the problem. I still wonder if I would’ve been invited to family dinners or shunned like the rest. Luckily I was on my way back to Thailand at the beginning of 2021, where I was greeted with smiles, fresh roses, never once being asked about my “status” still to this day, nothing but love and feelings of inclusion, so I didn’t get to find out. Before we go any further, if your views oppose mine on this topic, and you’re feeling any type of way as you read what I just said. I would invite you to pause, take a breath, and dig deeper into why you may be having this particular reaction. It’s okay to leave, I fully support you taking care of yourself in the best way possible for you, but consider that inquiring within may be what’s best in this moment. * Name the feeling/emotion* Ask yourself why you might be feeling this way (does it challenge your beliefs, is it fear, a reaction to something from the past, or something else?)* Think about a time when you felt this before—what did you make it mean about yourself? How might things be different now?* Send some love to that version of yourself, and you now. * Take a breath, check in with yourself, and ask yourself if you want to continue readingDuring this time in 2020, we experienced the beginning of a new Jupiter and Saturn cycle. Jupiter and Saturn are less personal, and more about what’s going on around us collectively. Jupiter represents our beliefs, world view, and education—while Saturn rules over our systems, governments, and authority. At the end of 2020, these two planets were holding hands in the sky in the sign of Aquarius. We lived through the contradiction of these two energies during the pandemic, seeing a line of division drawn in the sand (or concrete?) with many people not willing to budge. We saw restrictions placed on our local communities, expansion of systemic issues (and our leaders doubling down), free speech was limited and anything that went against the mainstream was labelled as misinformation. There were new developments in medical technology (aka the jab), and while we couldn’t meet in person, the rise of online communities expanded allowing us to connect through space and time. This was when I was newly sober, and I was scared to speak up about my own beliefs because they went against what I was told to believe. People would assume I had chosen the same as them and I didn’t correct them much at that time because I was filled with fear. I was scared to confront others because I was trying so hard to confront myself, while not risking my own sobriety—a delicate balance. I knew I wasn’t an evil person like they said I was, but somehow when you’re suddenly being called racist, misogynist, careless, and a killer, it does something to your wellbeing. I didn’t know what power lied within me yet, and I was scared to be true to myself in fear of hurting others. This led me to recover from alcoholism quietly, without community other than some new connections I made online.Interestingly enough, during my journey with sobriety, and around the time of the pandemic, I battled with my identity—especially in relationship with politics and the world around me. Not having the bottle to numb out my intuition and sensitivities had me consistently looking outside of myself for clues on how to be human, re-learning how to connect to my innate knowing. Was I careless? Was I a murderer? Was I racist? These were questions I asked myself when names would be thrown my way by those I once respected, including those leading my country. I had to dig deep to unravel the layers within—the light and the dark. It takes a special brand of honesty to confront parts of ourselves that we would rather instantly negate and ignore. Your beliefs (Jupiter) and the government (Saturn) had to align, or you were cast out of the group. Whichever “side” you were on, you experienced it at some level. Either you believed you were protecting your loved ones from danger by getting vaccinated and shunning those who didn’t, or you were on the receiving end of the shunning and left to your own devices while having blame placed on you for the global situation we found ourselves in, bearing the weight of all the problems in the world on our one set of tiny shoulders. There were also those who chose not to get vaccinated cut off those who did—again, a line in the sand. Students were banned from schools, workers fired from places of business, and others were afraid to speak their mind. Small businesses were incentivised to keep us out, while big named corporations were free-for-alls. We saw the underbelly of our societal weaknesses playing out live time, all purely based in fear and financial gain. As time went on and I continued to stay sober, I dove deep into my own psyche and wounds; leaned into my practices of yoga, astrology, exercise, play, writing, and meditation; and I learned to trust myself. I became so grounded and connected in my being that I could discern between what felt right and true for me and what didn’t. I opened my eyes to what was really going on, and I grieved. I felt my identity crumble, and with the crumbling of my identity I was able to build from a place of true reverence. I leaned into my new found practices to hold me, and my new found strength from within, and from spirit that I was no longer pushing away.I found my power within, and that is something nobody will ever take from me again. I have my morals and my values, which don’t fit in any one political box, and I try my best to live by them every day. I see both “sides,” and I can relate to both “sides.” I see in grayscale rather than black and white. I will never truly fit within one box, and my beliefs are ever changing as I continue to have conversations, ask questions, and feel into what is right by my own standards. I’m no longer afraid of being disliked (although that beast still rears its ugly head at times, like as I write this post and anticipate the possibility of you leaving), and I stand firm in my being while allowing others to do the same without feeling as though my own identity is threatened. It’s okay if we don’t agree, and I won’t try to convince you to follow my beliefs because I understand we are all individuals who make up a whole community. There are parts of us that others will never understand, and I won’t try to take that from you—you get to decide what is right for you.Needless to say, I’ve already been called all the names you could call me, so my skin is pretty tough at this point, and luckily my heart is still soft. Even through the hate I believe most people are inherently good. We want the same things, we just can’t seem to agree on how to get there. The Current Jupiter/Saturn SquareWe’re now at the opening square of this cycle that began in 2020, where Jupiter in Gemini is in tension with Saturn in Pisces. This brings up any conflict between our beliefs and our systems, a clash in opinions and a bump in the road as we try to move forward, maybe even a tension between your own beliefs and the system you grew up with and continue to benefit from and live within, much like I experienced in 2020. Both of these signs (Gemini and Pisces) are dualistic in nature, so it’s no surprise that we’re in this predicament. There are similarities between the pandemic and now. There’s a large division between political viewpoints leading people to cut off loved ones purely based on who they voted for, without having constructive conversations. It’s like an unorganised pile of yarn, different strands and colours balled up and knotted together, and we’re slowly picking through, following the strands and untangling the knots. Where has my identity become tied up with my beliefs? Where are the knots so tight that I need to step back and take a breath before continuing to pull at the yarn so the knots don’t just become tighter. It takes gentle care to unravel our identities from the system that created us (and that we created). It takes patience, love, and maybe a few breaks so we can continue to come back to the knots with fresh eyes and an open heart.A friend of mine reached out to me after the election, asking me if there was any sort of witchy seance we could do to make this go away. My response was one she wasn’t expecting, and I realise it may have felt harsh (I later apologised for my delivery), but I couldn’t silence my own voice and feelings in the moment. I responded with “the only witchy seance is to actually take action and change our own behaviours because we’re no different than the dudes at the top. No loving and lighting the way out of this one.” I expressed that I recognised it’s not the answer she was expecting, but I’m tired of us pushing blame onto others, flinging s**t around without taking accountability for our own actions. She wasn’t happy with my answer.Dr. Gabor Mate explains, “Whenever you get triggered, somebody pulled that trigger perhaps. But who is the one carrying the ammunition? How you handle people who trigger you, that is your call. But at least know that you are the one with all the explosives inside you, and you gain so much liberation if you find out what that ammunition is and how you got it by getting to know yourself.” We can start to get to know ourselves by recognising when we feel activated by something in the zeitgeist. Look at the “opposition.” What is it about this person that irks you? It may be how they carry themselves, their beliefs, their actions. Put it on paper and make a list. Sit with the list and ask yourself where this lives within you—it may bring up things from your past, beliefs you hold, maybe you’ll even see parts of these qualities in your own actions. For those who are name-calling, angry, or upset in any way, I invite you to look into why. What feelings are coming up for you? What lies underneath the hate? Dive deeper into the why and the part you play. With the North Node having been in Aries for the past year and a half, I have been working on using my own voice rather than watering myself down to make myself more palatable to others. I have a voice for a reason, and I’m going to use it. It’s scary as f**k, but it’s even scarier to stay silent. This is the time where we’re putting down the people-pleasing tendencies and finding our voice. Relationships may be tattered beyond repair, and I would argue that this might be a good thing because it means you’re growing and becoming clearer on what you value. New relationships may be built as a result of honouring yourself. The problem comes when we’re unwilling to listen and have constructive conversations with those who have different views, instantly resorting to name-calling instead of diving deeper into our own emotional bodies, recalibrating, and coming from a place of love.Saturn in Pisces Saturn first moved into Pisces in March 2023 and it will remain there until May 2025. Since 2023, we’ve been faced with lessons of Pisces topics like boundaries, compassion, spirit, and trusting our intuition. As our great teacher, Saturn is a planet of lessons and maturity—we’re currently in the process of learning how to place proper boundaries, protect our energy, and employ compassion. There’s a coming back to the notion that we are not separate, which is why the practice of noticing qualities you see in others (both desirable and undesirable) is important at this time. What you see in another lives within you—we’re not separate.Jupiter in GeminiJupiter has been in Gemini since May of this year. I won’t go too deeply into this, but if you’d like to listen to the podcast I recorded about it back in May, you can listen to it here:Pluto at the last degree of CapricornIf there’s one thing all “sides” can agree on, it’s that our current systems are crumbling. The shadow side of Capricorn is well exposed at this point, and the good news is we now get to do something about it instead of letting it fester below the surface. It was always there, and now we’re able to see it. It feels confronting because as a society we’ve been taught to look the other way—out of sight, out of mind. It’s harder to ignore and pretend there’s nothing wrong with the world when it’s falling onto our laps. Now is the time to reflect on how you support the beast. Venus has just moved into Capricorn, and we’re about to have a full moon in Taurus. Venus represents our values, relationships, and finances. It may be worth taking a moment to see where you vote with your wallet, time, and energy everyday. The real work is reflected by our daily actions and interactions with others and the world around us. It’s easy to say you support something, but are you actually putting your money where your mouth is? It’s one thing to be a keyboard warrior, and a whole other thing to actually do the work. Why not take the energy used to tell others what they’re doing wrong, and use it to do something right? In the spirit of this post and the current climate, please refrain from any hateful comments directed at anyone, including yourself. It takes courage to dig deeper within, with compassion, and I ask that if you are going to comment today, be courageous. In the next post I’ll dive deeper into how to work with the full moon in Taurus to align our actions with our values; work that I believe is more important now than ever before because this is where real change happens. If you want to be notified when this post goes live, and continue to have access to a no BS, no spiritual bypassing approach to astrology (and life in general), become a free or paid subscriber. What’s going on at LTDP…Our next New Moon Workshop is on December 1st at 6pm PT/9pm ET (December 2nd at 9am ICT/ AEST).There’s still time to upgrade your subscription and lock in the current price of $5 USD monthly or $50 USD annually before the price increase on December 1st. One Year of Loving the Dark Parts
This week marks one year since my first post on Substack (the platform you’re receiving this email from)—a milestone I’m proud of because it means it has been one year of putting myself out there in a new, uncomfortable, and deeply healing way, while building deeper, more meaningful connections with you.In that post, I wrote about my goals for this space:a place where we can be open, vulnerable, and feel connected. This past year of showing up consistently has allowed Loving the Dark Parts to become exactly that, and so much more. While this publication has been alive since 2023, I’ve actually been “loving the dark parts” since 2020 when I decided to put down the bottle and start down the path of sobriety. The most important part of my own recovery journey has been looking at all of my own s**t—the good, bad, and the ugly—since I no longer had a method of numbing those parts out. Before sobriety, I was scared to feel anything. Getting sober was hands down the best thing I’ve done for myself. I wouldn’t be here writing this if I hadn’t taken that courageous leap.I’ve done a lot of crazy things in my life—like jumping out of an airplane, driving and camping solo across the Nullarbor, solo-woman travel in general, relocating to Northern Thailand from Canada, among many others—and sobriety has been the scariest and most rewarding act of them all.In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what this space would turn into.I started by just writing from the heart (I still am). Many of you immediately started supporting my work through reading, likes, comments, shares, and by becoming free, paid, and founding subscribers. I’m consistently overwhelmed by your support in the best way.As I continued to write, this space has blossomed into a community like no other. You being here has inspired me to launch the Cosmic Classroom, Starlight Saturday, the Speak to the Dark Parts Podcast, and to breathe new life into the New Moon Workshops. With these additions over the past year, I’ve decided it’s time to raise the subscription prices to reflect the increased value of what I’m offering. On December 1st, the price for paid subscriptions will rise to $6 USD/month and $60 USD annually. That gives you a whole month to jump in while the waters warm, and while the price is hot!If you’re already a paid subscriber, your rate is locked in—yay!! If you jump in within the month of November, you’ll also be grandfathered in at the current rate of $5 USD/month or $50 USD/year.Subscribe hereWhether you choose to join as a paid subscriber or not, please know I’m deeply grateful for you being here in any capacity that feels right for you. Thank you for sharing this space with me, and helping to co-create this beautiful community, because without you, there is no community.* Free subscribers will continue to have access to all free posts.* Paid subscribers gain access to the Cosmic Classroom, New Moon Workshops, and a discount for my astrology and coaching offers.* Founding members receive all the above, a free astrology reading, and a hand-written letter sent to you via snail mail.During this past year, I’ve had the chance to connect with some of you in real life for the first time ever.I couldn’t have ever imagined this would be possible, and building these deep, real life connections has been one of the most exciting side effects of showing up online.Gwen Yi 🌻 and I met when she went through astrology school. I was working for DSA at that point, and I had the pleasure of helping to facilitate her Level 3 weekend. Since that weekend we’ve stayed connected. Earlier in the year I visited her in Malaysia, and it was such an honour to meet her and to give her a big ol’ hug! She’s an amazing astrologer, and an even better friend.Meeting Krissy was a byproduct of my budding relationship with Gwen Yi 🌻! We’ve since stayed connected via hours (days?) worth of voice notes back and forth. We found out we have so much in common and it feels as though meeting her was written in the stars. I consider her one of my closest friends, and I’m so f*****g blessed to know her—and to have someone who understands my dumb b***h Libra moon tendencies like no other human.Sydney Chris was my first (and only) irl meet up with someone I first met here, on Substack. She was travelling through my home base in Northern Thailand when Dana Leigh Lyons connected us on Notes, and we scheduled a time to meet up. I whizzed in on my Honda Wave to pick her up for a sunset date (we got dinner instead because I got lost trying to find her) and her energy was infectious. Not gonna lie, I had first date jitters, but we clicked so fast and had a great couple of weeks exploring and sharing our hearts—and bonding through getting stuck on a mountain.I first found Ron Lim back in the day on IG where he has been sharing his words for years (you might’ve heard of him @ronwritings). When Threads launched, we connected during the first days of the absolute chaos over there and have stayed in touch here and there. He’s since come to Northern Thailand and we’ve been able to hang out while he’s here. We share the nomadic connection, as he’s been travelling for almost as long as I’ve been gone from Canada. He’s super cool and easy to talk to, and has just published his second book! Meeting him has given me so much new found inspiration in my own journey with writing. Some other influential voices here, that I’ve yet to meet in real life, but hold in my heart until the day it may be possible, have been Dana Leigh Lyons of Sober Soulful, Allison Deraney of Dare to Be Dry, Giselle La Pompe-Moore of Be Difficult, Darling, Josh Luton of Gone Dry, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth of dialoguing. Every time I see a new post from these beautiful humans, I run to read it. There are more writers I love here, but this post is already reaching the email length limit—so I’m cutting it short. And lastly, to the twenty-two publications recommending Loving the Dark Parts: thank you. To know you are confident recommending me to your own audience warms my heart. I appreciate you. Your trust in me doesn’t go unnoticed.Thank you for being here, whether you’ve been here for a moment or since the beginning, or anywhere in between—I’m grateful we’ve crossed paths. This publication wouldn’t be what it is without you, the reader, and I’m blessed to have you here as a co-creator of a safe and welcoming community. What’s going on at LTDP…* the schedule for the Q4 New Moon Workshops is live! The next New Moon Workshop is on November 2nd for the New Moon in Scorpio. Scorpio Season: Everyday is Halloween When We’re Afraid of Intimacy
There’s no mistake that Halloween happens during Scorpio season.Everyday we walk around with metaphorical masks on our faces, meeting others on the street, smiling when we’re not even happy, saying “I’m fine” when we’re actually dying inside, and holding back our true feelings in fear of rejection or *insert your special brand of fear here.* Everyday is Halloween when we’re afraid of intimacy—into-me-see.Before we can be completely comfortable sharing our whole, true selves with another, we need to feel comfortable being ourselves in the comfort of our own company. This evening as I danced around my living room (a common occurrence these days) seemingly alone, I noticed another presence in the room. It wasn’t a ghost, per se, but it was someone I haven’t seen in a long while. My mind went to imagining a handsome gentleman coming to sweep me away for a dance, so I met where I imagined his eyes to be, but he wasn't there. My eyes darted lower, realising this guest was a lot smaller than the man I had first imagined. It was a young girl, shorter than me, her head reaching about mid-thigh. As we danced together I was brought to tears of joy that she felt safe enough to join me. I wonder if she felt pride that I, too, felt safe enough to dance with her. We twirled around without a care in the world as we held eachother in the moment of vulnerability—building trust. She was my inner child, I realised. The sign of Scorpio demands authenticity. It’s the only sign that will completely destroy itself in the name of finding its soul. It’s the phoenix rising from the ashes, transforming time and time again because to know pain is the only way we can truly know pleasure. Each time we rise from the ashes, a layer of what was never ours burns away, leaving only what is true. Some of my most painful moments have been in relationship with Scorpios, and my most pleasurable moments, too. The Scorpios of my past have taught me how to truly harness my internal power, how to surrender to forces outside of my control, and how to truly see myself and others. They taught me how to be seen, soul bare, vulnerable, and to still feel beautiful and worthy in the process of being fully exposed. They taught me how to be present with what is, without needing it to be anything other than what it is. Part of this process has been by walking me through the deepest, darkest pain of my life—or pushing me into the fire—pain that I wouldn’t wish on another, and pain that I needed to feel in order to truly grow. This month, during Scorpio Season, I invite you to join me in being more honest and vulnerable—whether with yourself or with others in your life—in order to build deeper, more meaningful connections. How can you show up as yourself in the moment, live time, without a mask?It may look like:* Giving someone a genuine compliment instead of holding it in* Naming discomfort if boundaries are crossed, and taking action to create a safer space* Telling someone how you truly feel (positive or negative, or anything in between), or writing about it if you’re not ready to say it out loud* Releasing ownership of anything outside of your control* Seeing a situation as it is instead of trying to make it into something you want it to beFor a more in depth look into your own chart, check to see which house is occupied by the sign of Scorpio—pop the answer in the comments and I will give you a little insight into which area of life you’re being called to lean into more authentically. To go a step further, look to your natal Pluto placement. How can you lean more deeply in the sign and house of where Pluto resides in your chart?Wishing you a passionate month of authentic connection. What’s going on at LTDP…* the schedule for the Q4 New Moon Workshops is live! Living with Loss, Grief, and Finding Home
The past few weeks of eclipse season has felt like a portal sucked me up and spit me out on another timeline, as eclipses tend to do. Somehow it’s only been a few weeks, but it feels like an entire year went by in that same span of time. During the first (lunar) eclipse at the end of September, the release began for me as I watched How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, a new Thai film that will pull on your heart strings. Something that has been heavy on my mind in the past year has been my relationship to home and family, and this movie confronted my fears in a new way. I’ve been away from my home country for eight years, and before that I lived on the opposite side of said country, away from my family for four years before that. As I get older, and my family does, too, I wonder if I’m doing the right thing by staying so far away. Where is the line between my own desires and closeness to family—or is closeness a newly found desire? Is it a true desire or is it rooted in fear? After opening the taps (aka the tear ducts), I found myself grieving parts of a romantic relationship I thought was long done and gone, but this relationship ended during similar eclipses back in 2016, and it made sense why it was suddenly rushing in again. The relationship ending was the catalyst for me leaving the country eight years ago. I had given up everything I thought I had been building towards—the career, the home, the family, my possessions, and the happily ever after—as I boarded a plane on a one way ticket to Australia. I realised the grief is not entirely about the guy (which is news to me), but rather about the concept of home and family, and what I believe those things to be. A big part of my grief around this relationship ending is how deeply I felt for his family, feeling as though they were part of my own. Home is something I’ve tussled with for my whole life, from childhood, leaving the home of a not-so-happy family when my parents divorced, finding refuge in temporary homes until finding one more permanent, moving to a new home as a teen just to move back into an old one, leaving home as soon as I could at eighteen years old, and leaving the country in search of my own home at age twenty-four.The Impermanence of LifeSince watching the Thai movie weeks ago, I’ve been reflecting on the impermanence of life—especially with family members (and myself) getting older—while being so far away. Coincidentally, just over a week ago, I got word of my own grandmother’s passing; it’s hard news to hear when you’re on the opposite side of the globe. Without giving away the plot of the movie for anyone wanting to watch, I'll just say the feelings that came up when I watched it became permanently real in my own personal life, and I'll never get the opportunity to spend another moment with my nanny, who I would've loved to get to know more now that I'm older.I previously wrote about the pain of living abroad (spoiler alert: it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—life still goes on), but I haven’t experienced a permanent loss like this in the time I’ve been away. It puts things into perspective, as this eclipse season pulls the strings of my roots and family lineage—essentially my sense of home (the 4th house).Just in the past month I’ve been thinking about nanny a lot and where she came from. She immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands, something I’ve recently become more curious about, as I’ve never been there myself. I found myself searching iTalki for a Dutch tutor and looked up visa options for spending time in her homeland. I'm now aged out of the working holiday visa requirements, which seems like some sick metaphor for the fact that it's also now too late to get to know her, from her own perspective. We’ve not been close throughout my life, mostly because of religious differences that I didn’t understand when I was young, family dynamics that were challenging, and living in different provinces, but I do wish I could’ve sat down with her one last time. Nanny is the first person in my life who wrote to me. She would send me cards that when you open them, they would come alive in front of your eyes. The bright colours and cutouts of flowers that would become 3D when the card was opened felt so magical when I was young, and they probably still would today. I remember wondering where she found cards so cool, because I’ve never seen anything like them. I learned the value of the written word from her before I even made it to my first years of school. I can still see her graceful cursive curving and taking shape around the flowers popping off the page. The feeling of opening her letters and cards is one that lives deep within me—she made me feel special—her words made me feel special. She taught me that words are a bridge of connection, even through religious differences, language barriers, and physical distance.I don’t remember when the letters stopped, but that’s usually how it goes, isn’t it? We get busy, our priorities shift and change, and we lose touch with those we take for granted, until it's too late.Connection and RelationshipsAll of my life I chose solitude as a safety mechanism. If I was alone, nobody could hurt me. If I kept my distance, I would be safe. Kids are to be seen and not heard, but I learned not to even be seen, because maybe that means I will be even more safe.I think that’s why I knew I would be leaving my hometown since I was in junior high. I couldn’t wait to leave the small town bubble to see what else was out there. I’ve done so many scary things like skydiving, driving solo and camping across the Nullarbor Plain, living in a foreign country for almost a decade, travelling as a solo woman, getting sober—but when I look back, those were the easy things. The hardest things for me were (and still are) when there were other people involved—when I chose to open my heart and be seen, be heard, and claim my space in the world. Trusting another human being with my heart sometimes feels too risky—that’s where the work is for me.This eclipse season has me focused on the importance of all types of relationships and how we keep the connections alive, invite them in, or choose to let them go. As someone who has crossed the globe to find home in a place (with no luck finding the physical place, yet), I subscribed to the idea that home is a place we find within ourselves—a comfort in being who we are, wherever we are. But as I (and those around me) continue to grow older and leave this earth, I’m realising that home may just be where the people you love are. The more I think about it, maybe the reason I can’t find home in one physical place is because I have a little bit of home sprinkled all over the map.Loving the Dark Parts is a reader-supported publication. Creating Magic in the Mundane Moments
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋 I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. My focus is to inspire you to feel confident enough to shine without the fear, regardless of the expectations of others.I recently spent three days in bed, nursing a migraine that squelched my appetite and had me wondering if this was the end—dramatic, I know. Usually when this happens, it’s because I’ve strayed from the path of presence and simplicity. We spent the past month connecting with our hearts—leaning into play, fun, and heart centered action as the sun lit up the Leo area of our lives. I started dancing again, watched trash tv, painted, indulged in multiple massages, and romanced myself in new ways. The transition from fire (Leo) to earth (Virgo) can feel a bit like waking up after eating way too much delicious food—the heaviness and the notion that something has to change—a sense that we need to “get back on track,” whatever that track is for you. For me, this track is presence. Leaning into PresenceAs I sit in the middle of my living room, beads of sweat dripping down my hairline, all the way down between my breasts and beyond, I stop dead in my tracks from a deep cleaning/dancing session and think to myself, “when did we take the magic out of the mundane?”As humans in our modern society, we tend to curl up our nose in disgust at certain jobs, chores, and tasks on our to-do list. I’d rather be having fun, or be anywhere else than here—that’s not the case for me most days, but of course I’m still human and have days where I don’t want to do any of it.Something shifted in me a few years back when I noticed myself rushing through daily tasks like doing the dishes, vacuuming the floor, cleaning the windows, when I realized I could literally just decide to look at it differently. Modern spirituality is something I roll my eyes at often when I hear of people trying to transcend the 3D world as if it doesn’t hold value—why else would we be here in a physical body if we weren’t meant to experience it? You’re here on earth and you’re already trying to get back to where you came from? Excuse me?I get it. I was deep in an addiction to alcohol for half of my life—it’s not much different than the modern new age spiritual bypassing model, if you think about it. But when I got created my second chance at life, I started to get curious about what I was running away from to begin with. Why was I deeply uncomfortable feeling the sensations of discomfort in my body? I felt like an alien since I was a child, and here I was running away from reality time and time again. When I started to feel the feelings that I didn’t feel safe to feel before, I noticed my emotions as the spectrum they were, still feeling tempted to numb them out, because what the f**k is happening in my body? I didn’t like it. It felt unnatural to feel. But I was curious. The more I meet my emotional body and physical sensations with curiosity, the more I learn about myself, and about the human condition. Usually the things we’re running from are not the sensations themselves, but from the story we attach to them. We’ve taught ourselves (or learned from others) what is pleasurable, and what is painful or uncomfortable, but it’s just that—learned. What is painful to some is pleasurable to others, and vice versa. It’s up to us to unlearn and rewrite. As I clean my home today, I access my feeling body—I go slowly, feeling the muscles in my arms and back as I scrub the bathroom floor, I smell the god awful chemicals that I’ve been telling myself I’m going to nix and swap for a more natural solution (but again, I’m only human, so until then I will continue to f**k up my hormones, my lungs, and the environment). I feel the sweat dripping down my skin until it pools in a crevice along the way, until the crevice floods and the waterfall continues. I take breaks when a catchy song comes on as I trace my fingers up and down the skin of my legs, swaying back and forth with the beat. I listen to the words and allow myself the pleasure of singing without being heard (or maybe my neighbours can, but I don’t care), feeling the vibrations in my chest all the way up my throat and through my teeth, because it feels good.I don’t need to be sitting on a beach with my toes in the sand to feel good. I have access to my body again, something I didn’t have just five years ago because I was scared and numbing it with alcohol—the cousin to the chemicals on my bathroom floor.Joy is presence—and it’s accessible at any moment. We just need to tap in.We don’t need to speed through the mundane parts of life to get to the “more important things” or the “more pleasurable acts,” it’s a f*****g miracle that you’re here right now, why not take full advantage of the short decades we may be blessed to have on this earth by enjoying every part of it—the good, bad, the ugly, dirty, messy, and ultimately boring parts of being human, because that’s what it means to be alive. It’s never too late to rewrite the story, even if it’s by finding sensual pleasure in the temperature of the water as you sink into the act of washing dishes with love, because how is that any different than feeling the soft caress of a lover under the moonlight? Meet the act with love, and you will be met with pleasure.I spent enough time running away from my life, and now I take time to create the magic in the mundane. I no longer need to bolt at the first sign of discomfort, and I create the life I desire, simply by being present. I don’t need to wait for a week of vacation to enjoy my life, because life is happening everyday.Someone messaged me the other day saying something along the lines of them feeling behind on their spiritual journey, to which I answered, “Honestly, I think the most spiritual thing we can do is just live our lives.” You’re not missing out on anything if you find pleasure in exactly where you are. Here are three practical ways to create magic in the mundane moments, starting right now:* Take a big belly breath - right now, do it with me. Breathe in as deeply as you can, feel the tension (if there is any, I’m going to make an educated guess that there is), exhale. One more time, breathe in, notice if the tension has shifted or softened, or maybe increased, exhale again. And one more time; deep inhale, hold it for a moment as you experience the pause at the bottom of the inhale, and let it all out with a sigh, or a scream. Shake it off.* Slow down - there’s no need to rush through the task at hand. When we wish for it to be over, we’re already losing. Take a moment to intentionally slow your speed down by at least half. Notice when you’re rushing through what’s right in front of you. One helpful way to do this is to come back into the body by noticing the sensations you feel. If you’re doing the dishes, tap into the feeling of the water on your hands; if you’re in the shower, feel your fingertips lathering the shampoo into your scalp; if you hear a catchy song, take a moment to tap your foot or sway with the beat.* Take a walk - after reading this (or right now if you’re feeling rebellious) put down your device and go breathe some fresh air. Step away from the screen for just a moment and take in the sensual world at your fingertips. Go outside, notice the scents, temperature of the wind (or lack thereof), sounds, and look at the sky. What’s going on at LTDP…* Postcard send out: I’m selecting seven people to receive a postcard from my current home—Pai, Thailand. If you’d like the chance to get one via snail mail, comment on this note, or hit reply if you’re receiving this by email.* New Moon Workshop: Join me live on Zoom, September 3rd at 8pm Pacific Time for our Virgo New Moon Workshop, where we will dive into the energy of the final new moon before eclipse season (a great time to plant seeds of intention)! This workshop is open to everyone—and the replay will be available for paid subs only. Come live for the chance to receive a mini-reading on the spot.* Birthday month discount: In honour of my 32nd trip around the sun, I’m offering a special annual discount that will end in two days! Are you being your whole self and nothing but yourself, so help you God?
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋 I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. My focus is to inspire you to feel confident enough to shine without the fear, regardless of the expectations of others.Tensions are high as the energy builds to the full moon in Aquarius. This week may be the moment the top pops off and you decide that space you’ve been trying so hard to fit into was never meant for you in the first place, because you were never meant to be stuffed in a box. There was a time where I went along with what everyone else wanted for me, until I couldn’t anymore. I had the corporate job, went to university, tried to settle down, but I still felt empty. Invite fresh energy by leaning into your heartDuring this full moon in Aquarius, there may be tension between your head and your heart. Sometimes we let our mind rule the show (needed at times), and with Mercury retrograde in Leo, our mind may be running over all of the reasons we can’t, or won’t, or *insert lame excuse here*, but the key is leaning into what the heart wants. Something inside may be asking you to level up, you know you can’t keep going on like you have been, and the only way through is to let go of control over what’s out of your hands. Be open to change. Be honest with yourself and trust when you lean into your authenticity and share your uniqueness with the world, you will be met with true connections and opportunities you may not have previously imagined. Stop white knuckling your old life—I know it feels safe to be uncomfortable in a familiar situation, but imagine what could happen if you release your grip and stay open to new possibilities. Imagine what could happen if you truly valued yourself and what you desire.“Come to a limit and transcend it; come to a limit and transcend it. Our only security is our ability to change.” - John LillyWhen I quit my job, sold my things, and booked a one way ticket to Australia at the eclipses of 2016. I was terrified because everything was changing and unfamiliar, but when I leaned into trust and the dust finally settled, I found freedom. There’s something about being in a new country, knowing absolutely nobody and nothing, without a plan, that releases the shackles of the need to be who you always were. But remember, even if you’re not throwing your old life away and moving to a new country, you can still be anyone you want to be, at any time, don’t let the expectations of those around you keep you boxed in.The same thing happened when I dropped the mask of the bottle and had to learn how to be myself for the first time ever. * What masks are you wearing? * How can you slowly start dropping the mask and lean boldly into your truest expression? Now at this pressure point between authenticity and expectations, I’m finding myself shedding old layers of who I thought I was and being open to what’s to come. I’ve built a new found confidence over the past year that is allowing me to stand strong in my being. I’m leaning into the discomfort of the unknown, as I stand on the edge of what feels like the old and the new.Find compassion and curiosityBack in May, I talked about the Jupiter and Saturn square that we’re now under, on the podcast. This cycle opened in December 2020.The first quarter square is a point of tension in the bigger story, between our structures and joy, restriction and expansion, systems and the greater good. We’re at the point of the cycle where we may be questioning these things, especially on a more global scale. We’re at the point where we can no longer continue in the way we’ve done things—again, change. There’s a lot of side taking, black and white, this or that—but the true wisdom lies in the ability to hold more than one truth. Mars and Jupiter meet and activate our ability to be curious, to ask questions. On the low road, we get angry and speak without listening, spewing our opinions as facts. You may notice your values are changing, or coming into more clarity during this time. Just because we each have our own unique set of values, doesn’t mean the others are wrong. Dana Leigh Lyons just wrote a brilliant piece on hate and politics that I think is worth a read. It sums up a lot of what we’re moving through, and how we might possibly hold space for new information without being hateful.* Can we hold compassion and love for “the other side” while still staying true to our own values? * Can I accept the possibility of multiple truths?* Can I respect other religions, beliefs, cultures, and communities even if my own ideals differ? We’re all human, after all.Now is a good time to check in on your own progress since: * December 2020 at the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius. * How have your beliefs shifted since then? * How can you stay grounded when new information comes to the surface? * Are you willing to open your mind to new possibilities and an evolution of truth?* February 2024 at the new moon in Aquarius. * What seed was being planted then? * How have you grown and changed since this new beginning? Share anything that comes up below, if you’re feeling inspired to be witnessed 🔥The new moon in Aquarius was around the time I wrote about my relationship standards changing, and I’m proud I’ve since found freedom (as a result of bravery) in my heart by walking away from a relationship that was unfulfilling. And a reminder that as we move through change, it’s important to stay connected to our heart, our body, and our joy. Check out this thread where we talked about what we enjoyed doing as children, and committed to recultivating that joy now, as adults. Benjamin climbed some trees, Sandra Pawula leaned into colouring, Brandy played in the water and swam, Gwen Yi 🌻 tried contemporary, and I started dancing again. Reading the comments have been giving me joy, alone—so pop over to find some sparks for your own enjoyment!I’ll be honest, I’m still not sure what’s to come for me as I question my life, my business, and my existence on this planet—but what I do know is that by leaning into joy and releasing the pressure of needing it to be what I expect it to be, it feels a lot more enjoyable to live it one day at a time and leaning into pleasure.Let go of what’s out of your control, lean into what makes you happy, and the rest will fall into place. If you found this post insightful, please tap the little ♡ below to help it reach more people who may find it insightful, too.p.s. there’s still a special birthday sale on now until the end of the month! Paid members get access to the Cosmic Classroom and new moon circles (which are getting a revamp and coming over to Substack exclusively). You’re also contributing to keeping my work here alive ❤️ If you’re not able to contribute financially, that’s okay! Your presence is greatly appreciated! I still can’t believe there are 242 of you sharing your time and energy with me. 🥹🫶I love you!! This is a public episode. What Was I Made For?
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn 👋I write about real life through the lens of astrology. My goal is to help as many people as possible learn to love themselves for who they are—dark parts and all. I believe the parts we were taught to hide are where our true gifts lie. My focus is to inspire you to feel confident enough to shine without the fear, regardless of the expectations of others. What if it isn’t as good as the last one?I ask myself as I sit here, feeling frustrated that I’ve seemingly taken ten steps backwards in my business. Stalling the launch of my newest program on purpose (on purpose?), feeling like an imposter as I wonder if I’m on the right track, once again.I’ve been feeling lost, much like when I was four years old and had wandered a little too far into the forest in the backyard of my dad’s house, as kids did back then. I walked and walked with my cousin by my side, until we turned around one too many times and couldn’t find our way back out. Fear and embarrassment flooded my cheeks in the form of redness and cool tears fell down those heated cheeks as I realised I had failed. Since Saturn stationed retrograde a month ago, I’ve slowed down, too.My business has been essentially paused—which is an act (or lack thereof) I tend to lean into when something good happens and I start to question my abilities to do this.To do any of it.The business, the life abroad, the hobbies, the friends, the family, the community—life itself. At least back then I was lost in the forest with my cousin by my side, and my Border Collie to lead us back to the light of day after hearing our cries in the distance. Now it’s just me, trying to dig myself out of self doubt and finding a pace that feels truly satisfying—one step at a time.Saturn has been moving through my tenth house of vocation since March, and now that it is seemingly moving backwards in the sky, I’m left with the task of reviewing boundaries and the structures in that area of my life.Look to where 12-19° Pisces lies in your own chart, and this will tell you which area of your life is up for a similar review. You may be feeling it now, even without looking to your chart. Feel free to share in the comments if you’d like.Saturn is the timekeeper, and this point in his journey can have us reflecting on the construct of time, as we either feel we have too much of it, or not enough. I find it’s usually the latter. The first half of the year was productive—whatever that means.I’m currently at war with the conditioned me, and the me I want to be (and truly am), so I’ve noticed myself challenging what these terms like “productive, rest, worth, and identity” truly mean to me. At the beginning of the year, I went all in on my business. I hired a coach, started posting on social media more, launched and ran a successful group program, and put more energy into this newsletter and Substack as a whole. I travelled to Malaysia and Japan, left a relationship, put my heart into the gym, and took care of myself in new ways.Damn. That’s a lot, looking back.As I reflect, the parts that brought me the most joy (a feeling I’m now trying to use as a compass to success) were the group program and this community. Before the Emotionally Empowered Group Program was born, I knew I wanted to help other women connect to their emotional body by way of their moon sign, while connecting to their own natural cycles by following the moon and using it as a practical tool. I was nervous to launch, but to my surprise, three beautiful women signed up and trusted me to guide them. It was life-changing for all of us.I’ve not felt such joy and alignment in my business for a while, if ever. I immediately moved forward in planning a second round, without really tapping into my own desires and capacity—was it something I actually wanted to do? Or was I running on the adrenaline reserves? As the dust settled, it quickly became clear I didn’t want to do the second round right away, and I let it fall to the side.Substack (this newsletter) has also been a beacon of joy for me. The slow pace and opportunity to truly connect with readers and other writers has been a joy I don’t feel on other platforms—maybe it’s the energy I bring to each separate platform, or maybe it’s the platform itself. I’m not entirely sure. There are also parts that were less fulfilling, like social media—a relationship I’m currently getting more curious about. This morning I received an email from one of the women from the previous group program, asking how she can pay for the next program. That’s when it clicked.I have something to offer that can truly help others, and I’m doing them a disservice by holding myself back. I’m also doing a disservice to myself, and my own purpose, by keeping it all inside out of fear.Often when I connect with my fear in relation to my business, it’s a fear of success—which may sound absolutely insane. There’s a lot to unpack there, so let’s leave that for another post. The email came at the perfect time, as I needed a reminder of how much joy I felt leading a group. As I’ve spent the last while leaning into rest, I’ve also started feeling antsy, waiting for clues that would lead me back onto the path.Getting lost isn’t as bad as it sounds. When my cousin and I were lost in the forest, we were free. We followed the rusty old trailer covered with wildflowers after years of hiding, the bees bouncing from flower to flower, the birds singing their songs, and our imagination as we lived a scene similar to one straight out of Indiana Jones—our senses leading us further away from the beaten path, but closer to our hearts—our joy.My purpose isn’t found in what I produce—it can be expressed there, but it’s not all of it.It’s found in every small action I take throughout the day. It’s found when I follow my joy. It doesn’t go away when I’m in a season of rest—it shows up in the way I get ready for bed, the way I make breakfast in the morning, the way I care for my dog, and how I care for myself. It shows in conversations with strangers and loved ones, in the smile to the barista, and the thanks for my morning coffee. It shows up in the lives of those I’ve served in the past, whether through a short interaction or long, as they continue to walk their own path, and as I walk mine. It shows up in those who I’ve yet to serve, as they await my next season of emergence. It’s not in the money I make or the content I put on my feed. It’s in the words I choose to speak because I know every word is a spell. It’s the meaning behind why I wake up every morning, why I choose to stay on this earth, and why my soul chose to incarnate in the first place. I am not my work, but through my work is one way I can express my purpose. So, that brings me to the official launch of Pathway to Purpose—a group program designed to lead you to alignment, where you’ll be walking your own pathway to purpose. It’s not a straight path, but knowing these parts of you will make it easier to get back on the path, or to forge a new one when the time is right. We will work to shed the expectations placed on you by leaning into your true essence; working in tandem with your personal astrology and your own internal compass. This program is about finding purpose and truly living it from the inside out, rather than chasing external successes—because purpose isn’t only found in what you produce. We will start on August 14, 2024 for eight weeks. This program is for you if you are:* in a period of reflection or wondering what’s next* considering a big life transition or a refresh* ready to feel confident walking the path you know you’re destined to take (and already on)* wanting to create a sense of internal confidence, rather than relying on external success metricsEach week we will dive into a specific part of your astrology chart to unlock the parts of your journey that make up your purpose. You will learn how to turn challenges into gifts, to embody your soul-led self, find inner confidence and clarity on what’s next for you, and to use your astrology as a tool to know yourself more deeply. This isn’t the typical purpose driven course asking you to push, push, push; but rather a Pathway to Purpose back to your soul, your essence, and your being (not your doing). It’s a coming home—a moving with intention and releasing expectations.Find your purpose in the day to day moments, and bring those parts of yourself into everything you do.https://buy.stripe.com/6oE3fo71Fe3n3du9AE *Paid Substack Subscribers get 10% off. Reach out to me at [email protected] if you’re ready to jump in!**Payment plans are also available on request.Important Program Details:* We will meet on Zoom once a week starting mid-August for a lesson and unpacking your individual chart.* You receive one free 1:1 video call with me to use at any point during the 8-weeks.* Access to a private Telegram group during our time together.* PDF worksheets, slides, and more! This program is unique because it uses a specific framework created from my own experiences and knowledge of astrology. Participants receive personalised information based on their unique astrology chart—no cookie-cutter paths here.If you have questions, reach out directly or comment below. If you found this post insightful, please tap the little ♡ below to help it reach more people who may find it insightful, too. EP02: Jupiter in Gemini—Belief Changes, Opinions, and the Continuation of the 2020 Cycle
In this episode, Kaitlyn talks about the current transit of Jupiter in Gemini, and what it means as a collective. Looking back to the last time Jupiter was in Gemini, a lot has changed. You may see similar themes from 2012 and 2013 resurfacing.I’ve also got my eye on the upcoming Jupiter/Saturn square, which is bound to continue the story that started in December 2020.What was going on in your life in December 2020?We’re feeling it build already, with the current genocide happening in Gaza. It’s more important than ever to remember the high road of Jupiter in Gemini and the lesson of Saturn in Pisces. I talk about how that was the time my business was just a seed barely planted, and how far I’ve come since then. I expect my own business to really shift and change this year while Jupiter is in Gemini, too. Coming Soon: Speak to the Dark Parts Podcast
Welcome to Speak to the Dark Parts, the podcast where we explore real life through the lens of astrology.I'm Kaitlyn, your Empowerment Coach and Astrologer—and your guide on this journey of self love and acceptance.✨ Are you someone who feels like they don't fit in?✨ Do you know deep down there's more waiting for you on the other side of fear?If so, you're in the right place. Here, we embrace the dark parts—the parts we have been taught to hide—the very parts that make us unique and beautiful, like our sensitivity, insecurity, creativity, and desires. These are the parts we learned to hide in order to fit in and make those around us feel more comfortable, while denying our own truth—which leads to shame, anxiety, depression, and finding unhealthy ways to cope with living a life on someone else's terms.Through the wisdom of astrology and our own inner compass, we learn to fall in love with the parts we once wanted to hide, allowing us to shine brightly in a world that needs our light. So, if you know you are destined for more, and are ready to break the mold, let's dive in.✩✩✩🌑 JOIN THE EMAIL LIST!
