114. John McAfee Part 1 of 2
Jamie and Kristy cover the early life and escalating chaos of John McAfee, founder of McAfee Antivirus, from his abusive childhood and rumored lies about his father’s death to his rapid rise in the tech world, creation of antivirus software after the Brain virus, and becoming wealthy before selling his shares for $100 million. After divorcing and leaving his family, McAfee’s life spirals into drugs, reckless spending, and legal trouble, leading him to relocate to Belize in 2008, where he lives lavishly, pursues questionable ventures, and grows increasingly paranoid and armed. After McAfee’s nine dogs are poisoned, his neighbor Greg Faull is found murdered with a close-range gunshot and taser marks, and McAfee becomes the prime suspect amid an unsolved investigation. Tune in next week for Part 2 as the story continues with McAfee on the run and more developments.Sources:Who Is John McAfee? ‘Running With the Devil’ Doc Digs Into His Life and Death - Netflix Tudum John McAfee - Wikipedia "20/20" The Rise and Fall of John McAfee (TV Episode 2017) - IMDb Plan Your Fall Getaway at Over 30 Hotel Brands 133: Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John MacAfee Coin Bros "THE MCAFEE EFFECT" (Official Music Video) Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

112. Kay-Alana Turner
Jamie and Kristy cover the case of 27-year-old Margaret “Kay Alana” Turner in Harris County, Texas. After COVID-related PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and recent medication changes, Kay Alana appeared disoriented and sleep-deprived, sent concerning messages, and drove around Texas seeking places to sleep. In Tomball, residents called law enforcement after she was found in a driveway; body cam footage shows a chaotic encounter where she fled, crashed through fences, and ran into dense woods, while deputies made derogatory comments and pursued charges. Her family tried to file a missing person report but were told she was a fugitive, which limited search resources. On April 19, 2024, remains were found about 900 feet from where her car was last seen and were confirmed as Kay Alana on April 24, 2024; the medical examiner found no foul play and no official cause of death.Sources:Bodycam footage:Kay-Alana Turner Bodycam Footage Kay Singing:https://www.instagram.com/reel/CoTzv2NvKqO/?igsh=MTdqNWwzdzB6OGs0Yw== Affects of body on both drugs:Ritalin + Zoloft: Can You Take Them Together? 111. SWAC SNACK: Kurt Sova Revisited- Exclusive interview with Chief John Majoy Part 2 of 2
Jamie and Kristy conclude their interview with Newburgh Heights Police Chief Majoy about the Kurt Sova case, focusing on rumors and the department’s current findings. The Chief explains why claims about “people from Detroit,” a homeless man’s prediction, and theories that Kurt was dragged from the party house could not be validated, noting key witnesses and polygraphs supported the account that Kurt and Sam left the house and Sam later returned for his coat. He addresses how Kurt’s family could have searched the ravine yet missed the body due to distance from the path and high weeds. The Chief critiques the 1981 autopsy’s vague cause of death, discusses reviewing it with a modern medical examiner, and explains why exhumation likely wouldn’t yield new evidence. His opinion is that Kurt likely was not murdered, suggesting intoxication, exposure/hypothermia, or an unknown medical issue as possibilities. The case remains open but inactive, and police still follow tips and encourage anyone with information to contact Newburgh Heights Police or submit anonymously.Submit Leads to Kurts Case Here:Sova - Ohio Attorney GeneralSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

110. SWAC SNACK- Kurt Sova REVISITED- Interview with Police Chief John Majoy Part 1 of 2
Jamie and Kristy revisit the 1981 death of 17-year-old Kurt Sova, found in a Newburgh Heights, Ohio ravine after disappearing from a party, and share an interview with Chief John Majoy about the case. Majoy explains how the case was reopened years later after a box of records was found during a station move, leading to a partnership with Tiffin University, a tip line, and Crime Stoppers involvement. He critiques the original 1981 investigation as incomplete and discusses modern investigative practices that weren’t used then. Majoy describes re-interviewing and polygraphing key figures, including last-known companion Sam Carroll (whom he says was eliminated and later died), the homeowner, and others, and addresses leads involving “Tank,” the Cavett case similarities, the “Franco” van sighting, and other Unsolved Mysteries-related claims as unsubstantiated. 109. Joann Matouk Romain Part 2 of 2
On this week's episode of Speculating Wildly About Crime, Jamie and Kristy conclude their two-part investigation into the mysterious death of Joann Romain Matouk. In this episode, they will discuss the discovery of her body 70 days after she disappeared from outside St. Paul Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. They also explore the troubling questions surrounding the official ruling of suicide, including the condition of Joann's clothing and boots after being found nearly 35 miles away on the Canadian side of the Detroit River. They will then get into some very interesting and conflicting autopsy opinions, as well as evidence that was never tested or was discarded. And of course, will discuss the family's long-running fight to have the investigation reopened. Later on in the episode, potential suspects are discussed along with the theories that continue to fuel debate more than a decade later. While Joann's death remains officially classified as a suicide, her family continues to maintain that she was the victim of homicide and has spent years seeking answers they believe have never been fully investigated. 108. Joann Matouk Romain Pt. 1 of 2
Jamie and Kristy introduce the two-part case of Joanne Matouk Romain, a 55-year-old devout Catholic from affluent Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, who vanished on January 12, 2010 and was later found deceased. After a long day that began with a family court proceeding in Detroit, Joanne dropped her son Michael off, stopped for gas, then arrived late to a prayer service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and left within 10–15 minutes. Witnesses mention a brief car alarm, and later police found the Lexus abandoned and locked near the church, with reports of footprints toward the lake. The episode highlights conflicting timelines, a rapid Coast Guard response and unsuccessful overnight water search, questions about a suicide theory given conditions and circumstances, and oddities involving Joanne’s purse, missing keys, and how keys later appeared with no clear record.Sources:https://joannmatoukromain.comhttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt12924500/ Unsolved Mysterieshttps://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2021/05/14/new-revelations-in-a-grosse-pointe-womans-mysterious-death/https://open.spotify.com/show/4DGvwblkz66PzhZf3bywcZ?si=4e16b710e33740d0Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie and Kristy share a SWAC Snack with recent updates on three missing-person cases they’ve previously covered: Jodi Huisentruit, Brian Shaffer, and Tracy Ocasio. They discuss renewed attention in the Jodi Huisentruit case, including a private investigator receiving tips and circumstantial information leading to one or two suspects and prompting new searches, while urging anyone with information to contact Mason City, Iowa Police. For Brian Shaffer, they clarify his credit card balance was tied to transferring debt to a new card and report police confirmed Douglas Barry as a name previously provided as a lead; they encourage anyone who knows him to contact Columbus Police and note a possible Netflix documentary is in development. They also cover renewed searches in the Tracy Ocasio case around Lake Apopka and nearby waterways and ask for tips to be reported to Ocoee Police.Sources:Tracy Ocasio search: 17 years later, high-tech teams hit Lake Apopka waters to look for missing Ocoee woman | FOX 35 OrlandoNew Leads Emerge In Jodi Huisentruit's Disappearance Case(20+) Brian Shaffer Dead Or Alive Podcast | FacebookSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

106. Toby Anderson
Jamie and Kristy cover the little-known disappearance of 16-year-old Toby Eugene Anderson, who vanished in Selma, Oregon, in November 1986 after a troubled childhood that included time in juvenile detention and being sent from California to live with his uncle, Elmer “Billy,” in a crowded two-bedroom trailer. The family’s account claims Billy caught Toby being inappropriate with one cousin, expelled the family for the night, and later dropped Toby at a police station—after which Toby was said to have “run away,” was signed out of school, and was never reported missing until 2017 when cousin Denise began pushing for an investigation. Denise has since raised concerns that Billy may have harmed Toby, noting Billy’s later 2001 conviction for assaulting children and his release in October 2024, and asks anyone with information to contact law enforcement. 105. Laureen Rahn Collaboration
Jamie and Kristy host a collaborative episode of Speculating Wildly About Crime with guests Missy (Dark Woods Paranormal), Allison (Coffee and Cases), and Kevin (Midnight Mystery Archive) to revisit the 1980 disappearance of 14-year-old Laureen Rahn from Manchester, New Hampshire. They recap key case details from the night she vanished during spring break—unlocked/open doors, a friend in her bed, Laureen’s shoes and belongings left behind, and reports of unscrewed light bulbs—and discuss how limited, repetitive media coverage shaped earlier theories about runaway, abduction, and alleged phone calls. Newer insights from interviews with Laureen’s friends challenge portrayals of a close mother-daughter relationship, question the phone-call narrative, and introduce “Bob,” an uncle by marriage linked to troubling behavior and access to locations like a gravel pit and an abandoned house. The group leans toward someone Laureen knew and highlights a recent law-enforcement push reopening the case and asking classmates, neighbors, and friends to come forward, sharing the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit tip line (603-271-2663) and email ([email protected]).Find our Friends:https://www.youtube.com/ @MidnightMysteryArchive https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=darkwoods @DarkwoodsParanormalPodcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-cases-podcast/id1492318464Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

104. Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan (The Crash)
Jamie and Kristy revisit Ohio to discuss the 2022 case featured in Netflix’s The Crash, focusing on victims Dominic Russo (20) and Davion Flanagan (19) and the events leading to their deaths when 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla drove a 2018 Toyota Camry into a brick building at roughly 90–100 mph. They review the night at a friend’s house, the short six-minute drive before impact, and crash data showing full throttle, no braking, and last-second steering and gear changes that suggest someone tried to stop the car. They cover background on Dominic and Davion, evidence found at the scene, the debate over intent versus a medical event (including POTS), drug-testing gaps, Shirilla’s trial and appeals, and the controversial concurrent 15-years-to-life sentence with a 2037 parole hearing.Sources:Netflix- The CrashKiller Cases- Season 4 Episode 12Prosecutors in the Raw: The Crash https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-crash-part-1/id1513154358?i=1000770989089https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-crash-part-2/id1513154358?i=1000771922638#MackenzieShirilla high speed crash video released.Shirilla intentiona... | mackenzie | TikTok (1) Instagram Mackenzie Shirilla & Mom's Secret Jail Call Language | TikTok Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

103. SWAC SNACK: Gretchen Fleming Update
Hosts Jamie and Kristy share a brief update on the Gretchen Fleming case from Parkersburg, West Virginia, originally covered in Episode 59. Gretchen was last seen December 4, 2022 after bar-hopping; police initially questioned a man named John but ruled him out, and focused on Preston Pierce (also known as Daryl Lott), who said he gave her a ride and dropped her downtown without her purse or phone. After an earlier search of his former home in November 2024 found nothing, a hunter discovered human remains in September 2025, later identified as Gretchen’s in April/May 2026, reportedly on property tied to Pierce’s sister. Pierce was arrested May 15, 2026 in North Carolina, extradited, and indicted for first-degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and concealment/disposal of a body; he was arraigned June 11 without bond and remains in custody as the hosts anticipate a trial in 2027 or later.Source:Preston Pierce, man accused in death of Gretchen Fleming, extradited back to W.Va.Man accused in Gretchen Fleming's death extradited to West VirginiaSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

102. Kurt Sova
Jamie and Kristy cover the 1981 death of 17-year-old Kurt Sova in Newburgh Heights, Ohio, featured on Season 1 of Unsolved Mysteries. Kurt, a trusted, non-partier, went to a house party with Samuel, became heavily intoxicated, was escorted outside, and vanished while Samuel went back inside to retrieve their jackets. After days of searching and a delayed missing-person response, Kurt was found dead five days later in a ravine about 500 yards from the party house—fully clothed but barefoot, with one shoe later recovered and the other never found. The autopsy suggested he died only 24–36 hours before discovery and listed “probable accidental” death despite unanswered questions, a reportedly poor investigation, and a similar nearby teen death months later. Tips are encouraged via Newburgh Heights Police or Cuyahoga County Crime Stoppers (216-25CRIME).Sources:Kurt Sova - Unsolved Mysteries https://open.spotify.com/episode/2q21TpAcGcK3ZUpFD2edsO?si=8fe92b73a5f6487chttps://open.spotify.com/episode/7bb91kMWQ9uUiFyy3L4Duu?si=ac00b711932c4ba2https://open.spotify.com/episode/34j4HCEjGlbtQpFfycsC20?si=64ad510692dc42e9Kurt Sova | Unsolved Mysteries Wiki | Fandom Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

101. Deanna Cremin
Jamie and Kristy discuss the 1995 unsolved murder of 17-year-old Deanna Cremin in Somerville, Massachusetts. Deanna, a well-liked high school junior who loved working with children and hoped to become a preschool teacher, was last seen after spending the evening watching TV with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Tommy LeBlanc. She called her mother to say she’d be late, and Tommy later claimed he walked her only partway home—unusual for him—leaving her to finish the short walk alone. The next morning, her body was found behind a senior living complex about 500 feet from where he said he left her; an autopsy determined she was sexually assaulted and died by manual strangulation. Police collected DNA and pursued multiple persons of interest, including Tommy, firefighter Charlie Howden, neighborhood predator Anthony “Vinnie No Shoes” Delgado, and Deanna’s stepfather Michael Kremin, but the case remains open with a reward and ongoing annual memorial efforts.Sources:https://share.google/RcVWq5eYkSmvoqKYThttps://share.google/jhoLKzw9GrvEOZ8sEhttps://share.google/3i6udVrhHDZxF7GRehttps://share.google/V4FZB3q7AXJi21f5rhttps://share.google/73Vsllngg3uMrcFdohttps://open.spotify.com/track/4IpB4GHf2pBQwBAT7aJZ7S?si=2cd215df7c81412bSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

100. William (Bill) Schnackel
This week on Speculating Wildly About Crime, Jamie and Kristy discuss the 1980 disappearance of 44-year-old Bill Schnackel from Phillips, Wisconsin. Bill, described as kind and hardworking, lived in an old school bus and earned money hauling trash and scrapping metal, sometimes with his roommate Michael Winters. Bill was reported missing on May 20, 1980—over a month after Michael claimed he last saw him on April 16—and Michael said Bill went to Chicago to collect an inheritance, though Bill’s aunt said there was no money and she was in California. Michael was seen driving Bill’s prized truck, gave conflicting explanations about being in the woods, and later moved back to Palm Springs. Investigators searched the property and nearby areas without finding Bill, arrested Michael in 1983 for murder, but he was found not guilty and records of the trial are missing. 99. SWAC Unhinged- Housewives Edition. Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Part 2 of 2.
Jamie, Kristy, David (Surviving-ISH), and Jenny (Unholier Than Thou/Unholier) share their top 3 moments from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City franchise. Some moments include: Angie K’s season five “scroll” confrontation with Meredith, Brittany being caught recording and denying it, Mary’s “hospital smell” comment, and Brittany’s outrage over Angie bringing wine to her Bible study. They discuss how Brittany’s behavior and religious fence-sitting affects the group, debating whether she’s “fake” or “empty,” and whether Angie’s wine gift was passive-aggressive. The group highlights Jen Shah’s season two Sprinter van arrest and its aftermath, Lisa Barlow’s “gout dick sucker” insult at a party, and the season four Bermuda finale where Heather reveals Monica as the faceless account Reality Von Teese with “receipts, timelines, screenshots.” They close by sharing thoughts on Monica, praising Mary’s season five return, and comparing which cast members they each resemble.Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie, Kristy, David (Surviving-ISH), and Jenny (Unholier Than Thou/Unholier) return for a “palate cleanser”. This time, our SWAC Unhinged episode will be focused on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. After introductions and Jenny’s background as a survivor and podcaster, they acknowledge the tragic death of Mary Cosby’s son Robert Jr., reflecting on his on-camera discussion of addiction and mental health and the realities and stigmas families face. Shifting to lighter Housewives talk, they debate favorite cast members (including Heather, Mary, Whitney, and Bronwyn), discuss how deconstruction and cult dynamics color their view of the show, and count down memorable moments such as Heather’s black eye tied to Jen Shah, Meredith’s season-one mask, Lisa’s “Away in a Manger” choir audition, yacht drama (including shoes and a tossed unicorn), the Milwaukee trip, and Lisa’s Zion hot-mic rant. 97. Ashley Summers Part 2 of 2
Jamie and Kristy revisit Ashley Summers’ disappearance as the Cleveland case timeline intersects with the May 6, 2013 rescue of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight from Ariel Castro, ultimately confirming Ashley was never held in the home. They cover the hope sparked by a 2015 FBI tip and ATM surveillance photo, including a Dr. Phil facial recognition analysis suggesting an 80% match, which was later ruled out when the suspect was identified as someone else. They also discuss and eliminate possible links to several offenders (Elias Acevedo, Eric “Big Willie” Wilson, Anthony Sowell, and Israel Keyes) before focusing on concerns around Ashley’s uncle Kevin, including revelations about a broken phone story and his later arrest and conviction for long-term sexual crimes. The episode closes with theories—foul play by someone she knew, trafficking/kidnapping, accident, or suicide—and a call for tips.Sources:Disappearance of Ashley Summers - Wikipedia ASHLEY SUMMERS — FBI "Disappeared" Edge of Fourteen (TV Episode 2018) - IMDb https://open.spotify.com/episode/4OfxijQc0vGfcK2vwNBVfp?si=d5f835b412874d19Ashley Summers: Gone On The 4th Of July – The Unfound Podcast Channel https://www.tiktok.com/@mommy4lifeof3/video/7206354192619867435?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7618400034345731598https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPoA2f11UPkAdditional Sources:Help Find Alexandria Lowitzer - Missing Person KBAA | Memorial and Advocacy Bracelet | Alexandria Joy Lowitzer - Etsy Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

96. Ashley Summers Part 1 of 2
Jamie and Kristy cover Part 1 of the disappearance of 14-year-old Ashley Summers in Cleveland, Ohio, in July 2007. They outline Ashley’s strained home life with her mom Jennifer, her relationship with 16-year-old boyfriend Jean Gill, and how she began staying with great-uncle Kevin after conflict at home. Ashley had previously run away in January 2007. Her last known day is disputed (reports range from July 4–8); she was reportedly seen at a family birthday party on July 4 and said she was walking to Aunt Chris’s house but never arrived. Kevin later claimed a fight occurred and he broke her phone before Ashley packed belongings and left. Jennifer didn’t realize Ashley was missing for days due to family confusion, filed a report July 9, and police initially treated it as a runaway. A month later Jennifer received a brief call from someone she believed was Ashley. In 2008 the FBI reexamined the case due to parallels with nearby disappearances of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus. 95. Jason Landry Part 2 of 2
Jamie and Kristy continue part two of their coverage of missing 21-year-old Jason Landry, focusing on the body-cam footage from the crash scene near Luling, Texas, and the late-night calls to his parents. They discuss concerns about the scene being treated as a simple impaired-driver accident despite Jason’s clothing and belongings left in the roadway, and detail what happened after his family arrived, including locating his phone at the impound lot. The episode covers subsequent search efforts (including drones, dogs, divers, and draining a pond after cadaver dogs alerted), evidence handling issues like untested fingerprints/DNA, and a geofence warrant that produced no leads. Jamie and Kristy review reported sightings and explore competing theories, including head injury/hypothermia, feral hogs, and potential foul play.Sources:The Unending Disappearance of Jason Landry https://youtu.be/3uAt_dnRuFA?si=NVgmXU_YlAuZJhqJDisappeared - S10 E4 The Long Drive Home - ID GO 21-Year-Old's Car Found Abandoned. 94. Jason Landry Part 1 of 2
Jamie and Kristy begin Part 1 on the disappearance of 21-year-old Texas State student Jason Landry, who vanished on December 13, 2020 after leaving San Marcos around 11:05 PM to drive home to Missouri City. Using his digital footprint, they trace him through Martindale to an intersection near Luling where he should have turned toward I-10, but instead continued onto dark rural roads; his phone activity ends around 11:24 PM and his crashed Nissan Altima is found at 12:31 AM. Police later locate Jason’s clothing laid out methodically about 900 feet from the car, plus his backpack containing his wallet, laptop, PlayStation, a deceased fish, and a pill bottle holding eight rolled joints, while his phone is later found wedged in the car. The trooper suggests substance influence and a possible hit-and-run, raising questions about head injury, hypothermia, and investigative gaps.Sources:San Marcos, Texas to Missouri City, Texas - Google MapsSEARCH FOR JASON LANDRY: Raw Facetime video of Landry talking with friend | FOX 7 AustinDPS Trooper Body Cam at Jason Landry Crash SiteThe Unending Disappearance of Jason Landry • Jason Landry /// Part 1 /// 860 Disappeared - S10 E4 The Long Drive Home - ID GO 21-Year-Old's Car Found Abandoned. Jamie and Kristy discuss serial killer Israel Keyes, focusing on his crimes and arrest. They cover the February 1, 2012 abduction of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig from an Anchorage coffee stand, her murder, the staged ransom photo taken weeks later, and the disposal of her remains at an ice-fishing lake. They explain how Keyes used Koenig’s debit card across multiple states, leading Texas police to stop him, find ink-stained cash, her ATM card, and her phone, and extradite him to Alaska. Keyes then partially cooperated with investigators, admitting to the June 8, 2011 Vermont murders of Bill and Lorraine Currier and referencing other possible victims, while withholding details. He died by suicide on December 2, 2012, leaving drawings of 11 skulls in blood; the hosts debate how many victims he truly had.Sources:Kristy Kargus | Wed, Mar 11, 3:18 PM (4 days ago) | | to mehttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-crime-bullsh-the-israel-keyes-investigation/id1443666680American Predator: The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century by Maureen CallahanSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

88. SWAC Snack- Ellen Greenberg Updates
Jamie and Kristy revisit the Ellen Greenberg case as a SWAC Snack to focus on developments since their 2024 coverage, including the Hulu documentary “Death in Apartment 603” and the legal and investigative updates that followed. They recap that the case has remained controversial due to the early suicide ruling and questions about how it was handled, then outline the family’s long effort to challenge the manner of death, including a Pennsylvania Supreme Court appeal in 2024. They discuss a February 2025 settlement with the City of Philadelphia that led to a reexamination and an independent medical review, followed by an October 2025 report reaffirming suicide in a 32-page finding, which they note was a major setback for the family. The most recent update they cover is that in January 2026, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania requested documents related to the case, raising the possibility of federal scrutiny into procedural failures and decision-making by state authorities, though they caution that federal involvement does not automatically mean the ruling will change or that charges will result.Sources:Federal prosecutors have requested documents tied to Ellen Greenberg caseWhat Happened to Ellen Greenberg — Inside the Suspicious Case Behind Death in Apartment 603Judge dumbfounded by error in Ellen Greenberg ‘suicide’ probeWho Killed Beloved Teacher Ellen Greenberg?
