The Magicians, S05E13- Fillory And Further
Thank you so much to Jessie for commissioning this, the final episode of The Magicians! I'm honestly really surprised at how satisfying the ending of this series is considering that this wasn't supposed to be the end of the show, and considering how many balls they still had in the air right up...
-
The Magicians, S05E12- The Balls
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! The main takeaway of this episode my utter disbelief that this is the penultimate episode of the series. It's just so incredibly loaded with half-formed ideas that still need a lot of time to percolate and develop, and knowing there's...
-
The Magicians, S06E11- Be The Hyman
Thank you to Jessie for commissioning this episode! Only three more episodes of this series to go, and I have no idea how we're going to wrap up so quickly! This episode is the one where they sorta come to a conclusion I theorized on last episode, in which I suggested maybe using the World Seed…

The Magicians, S05E10- Purgatory
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode is when we FINALLY get the answer to so many of the questions that I've been asking (and which NOBODY else has been asking, BTW) and it's actually pretty interesting. Turns out that the Takers are the guard dogs of the...
-
The Magicians, S05E09- Cello Squirrel Daffodils
Thank you Jessie for commissioning this episode! Alright so we're starting to get some answers about who the hell the Dark King is and what his motivations are, but I'm so annoyed that nobody wants to know WHY he brought the Takers with him or what they are. This is key information that could…

The Magicians, S5E08- Garden Variety Homicide
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! Alright so I was a little bit unhappy with the last episode, but I think that unhappiness has grown into full-blown concern about the final season at this point. I don't understand what the writers are doing with the Dark King at all. I...
-
The Magicians, S05E07- Acting Dean
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode brings back the alternate timeline thing again, except instead of traveling to one of them, the people from that timeline travel to us. I'm definitely here for a borderline psycho Dean and I'm hoping that we get to see…
more -
The Magicians, S05E06- Oops!... I Did It Again
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I really loved this one, because it was a rare episode in which Elliot gets to have an unqualified success, and also he opens up to friends and in genuinely vulnerable with them. We don't get to see him doing well and believing in...
-
The Magicians, S05E05- Apocalypse? Now?!
Thank you to Jessie for commissioning this episode! So this shit really popped off early, huh? I thought that we weren't going to get this convergence until the end of the season, and instead it looks like we're going to be dealing with a whole other problem which is a direct result of trying to...
-
The Magicians, S05E04- Magicians Anonymous
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! So this is a pretty neat episode that explores a whole other world that we've never seen before, AKA the Etheric Realm (sp?) which seems like a pretty great, chill place to be. Katie and the Dean go there together to find answers, and he winds…

The Magicians, S05E03- The Mountain Of Ghosts
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! I thought this episode was really moving and I was so glad that we get to see Eliot really get to take ownership of the relationship he had with Quentin. It's a shame that his rebound is almost the Dark King, but you know what? Maybe...
-
The Magicians, S05E02- The Wrath Of The Time Bees
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! So we get to see what happens when someone attempts to raise a golem with the wrong intention in their hearts, and poor Alice gets (in a way) the chance to say goodbye that she wanted. It's actually kind of touching, and a nice way to pay homage...
-
The Magicians, S05E01- Do Something Crazy
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! Well it's been a minute since I finished off Season 4, but honestly it feels like it's been about a week, at most. I'm really excited to be starting the new season, and I'm exciting that we're spending a good amount of time with Julia...
-
The Magicians, S04E13- No Better To Be Safe Than Sorry
Thank you very much to Michael for not only commissioning this episode, but also for commissioning a live watch! I was able to hang out on Crowdcast and experience this excellent finale with all of you, and Melanie was in the chat ALSO watching for the first time, which was pretty awesome! I…

The Magicians, S04E12- The Secret Sea
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! In this episode, Josh is a fish. I did not see that one coming. Also, fucking Plover is still alive and I'm disgusted. However, it looks like the gang has a chance to fight back against the monsters, so that's something awesome. Thanks...
-
The Magicians, S04E11- The 4-1-1
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! Well this episode proves to be very enlightening, with the introduction to The Binder, and the revelation on just how the Monster and his sister were made. I really want to know HOW they were made, though, because the whole thing is...
-
The Magicians, S04E10- All That Hard, Glossy Armor
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I loved this episode a ton. I mean, it's Margo-centric, which usually speaks to me, but it's also about women's voices being oppressed and the realization of many young women that they are not going...
-
The Magicians, S04E09- The Serpent
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This was a really good one. I'm a huge fan of Eliot's acting, and I really thought he managed to push himself in this episode to do some things that were pretty unsettling. Also, the fucking scene with Margo and Fen absolutely killed…

The Magicians, S04E08- Home Improvement
Thank you to Ashely for commissioning this episode! I'm really enjoying this season so far, and this was a particularly fun one. I really liked the overall weirdness of a dragon egg that makes everyone want to care for it, and I was a fan of the twist with Alice's mother actually giving a shit...
-
The Magicians, S04E07- The Side Effect
Thank you very much to Nicole for this commission! What a weird episode this is, too! I'm very much here for the way in which this episode emphasizes side character plots and challenges us to think of them as MAIN characters. We are asked, in a way, why we see Quentin as the "main" character, and...
-
The Magicians, S04E06- A Timeline And Place
Thank you so much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! This is kind of a bonkers one, where Penny and Marina travel to a few different realities, but the biggest thing for me is that Alice meets Sheila and I LOVE ALL OF THIS. Thanks for listening!
-
The Magicians, S04E05- Escape From The Happy Place
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This episode was compelling AF and I don't know what to think about the way it wraps because I'm assuming this means the monster was fooled but I'm really worried that it's going to start to catch on. Oh also Penny is kidnapped and I...
-
The Magicians, S04E04- Marry F**k Kill
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! So this episode is a really wild ride, and I actually liked it a lot despite the fact that I take issue with how Josh gets to fuck every hot girl on this show. At the very least, he wasn't the one who suggested it, I suppose. There's a...
-
The Magicians, S04E03- The Bad News Bear
Thank you so much to Ashley for commissioning this episode. First of all, I LOVED this episode. I'm such a huge fan of heist shit, as we all know, and this was a really fun spin on an old standby...the card game. Also, I like when Quentin gets to be good at something. However, I'm really going to...
-
The Magicians, S04E02- Lost, Found, F**ked
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I'm feeling pretty confident about this season so far, and this episode is one of the reasons why. I like seeing the way the spell worked, I loved the humor of the Dean going from one person to another with confessions, and I'm glad…
more -
The Magicians, S04E01- A Flock Of Lost Birds
Thank you to Nicole for commissioning this episode! Well Season 4 is off to a rollicking start, and I'm fascinated by the fact that everyone even LOOKS like someone else. I really should have assumed it would work that way, but I can't tell you how stupid I feel for not picking up on that sooner....
-
The Magicians, S03E13- Will You Play With Me?
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode is a bit bananas and I'm still not entirely sure whether I like it or not. There were parts that I liked, but the things that annoyed me keep nagging at me to the point that it might overshadow the stuff in the pro column....
-
The Magicians, S03E12- The Fillorian Candidate
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! So here's where shit starts to get real, huh? There are a lot of things that happened this episode, but of course the most notable of them is Queen Margo The Destroyer being voted High King. And not only that, but she gets her eye…

The Magicians, S03E11- Twenty-Three
Thank you so much to Ashely for commissioning this episode! So this is a weird one! I will give the writers credit, they decided to find an interesting way to get Penny back into the show without just figuring out a loophole for getting out of the Underworld, and that was some pretty creative...
-
The Magicians, S03E10- The Art Of The Deal
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! WHEW! This episode is very satisfying and packed with action, and I'm pretty delighted by it. I didn't think there was a way for you to make me feel anything like sympathy for the faerie queen, but it turns out I was very very wrong.…

The Magicians, S03E09- All That Josh
This episode is brought to you by Ashley, so thank you so much for commissioning it, Ashley! This episode stays on my good side by not becoming a whole musical, and I appreciate that. There's a lot in this that is super fun, actually. I really enjoy the demon taking on Todd's appearance, because…

The Magicians, S03E08- Six Short Stories About Magic
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! This episode is really interesting and I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. The main thing of interest, to me at least, is that there's a woman named Cassandra who for some reason looks exactly like an older version of…

The Magicians, S03E07- Poached Eggs
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! This episode is when Margo and Elliot try out their blackmail scheme on the fairy queen, and they find out (rather unceremoniously) that Frey isn't even their real daughter. I know we all had our doubts, but there's so much...
-
The Magicians, S03E06- Do You Like Teeth?
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! So in this episode, we're getting to see the fallout from poor Margo's true love Micah being unceremoniously decapitated by his creepy little brother. Turns out that in his culture, a younger brother can't get married or own property,...
-
The Magicians, S03E05- A Life In The Day
Thanks so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! I have a feeling a lot of you were waiting for me to get to this episode, and I totally get why. There's a lot of good stuff going on here, and even though I have a huge problem with the logic behind how Margo's story turned out, even her...
-
The Magicians, S03E04- Be The Penny
Thank you so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! So this episode I find out what's really going on with Penny, and it turns out to be worse than I had feared. Getting back into his body turns out to be the least of his problems, because turns out that nobody can hear or see him and so…

The Magicians, S03E03- The Losses Of Magic
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! Wow, y'all, this episode was a little bonkers wasn't it! I don't know what to make of this development about the boats being alive, but I'm a huge fan of the fact that Margo handled it so well, and I'm hella proud of her for smushing…
more -
The Magicians, S03E02- Heroes And Morons
Thanks so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm totally feeling this season so far, even if this episode felt a little bit sloppy in comparison with the first one. There's no avoiding that, I suppose, when you're linking this many plot threads together. We've got the main quest…

The Magicians, S03E01- The Tale Of The Seven Keys
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I can't believe we're already in Season 3, and damn I can't believe how much more focused and well-organized this season is already in comparison to the start of Season 2! Magic is still missing, and there's no hope in sight...until the Great…

The Magicians, S02E13- We Have Brought You Little Cakes
Thank you so much to Nicole Larsen for commissioning the finale of Season 2 of The Magicians! This episode was a really big surprise to me because I wasn't even aware it was the season finale, so I wasn't prepared for the dramatic turn that the whole story takes. Damn but this all caught me...
-
The Magicians, S02E12- Ramifications
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm going to be honest with y'all and just warn you that I spend a lot of this episode angry and yelling. There is so much to like about this show that it can get really frustrating to me when they don't capitalize on the characters...
-
The Magicians, S02E11- The Rattening
Thank you very much to Ashely for commissioning this episode! It's time for Eliot to tie the knot (again) and he's determined that he will impress his new husband. Unfortunately, things don't exactly go to plan because half the castle turns to rats and that includes his betrothed. Is it the...
-
The Magicians, S02E10- The Girl Who Told Time
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! Eliot desperately wants to do something to win over his people, and he gets it into his head that single combat is the way to go. Except that when he's faced with the opportunity to kill that opposing party, he decides to marry them...
-
The Magicians, S02E09- Lesser Evils
Thank you so much to Ashley for commissioning this episode of The Magicians even though I hated it and it gave me deep anxiety. Listen, folks, I think we all know that making deals with faeries is a real bad plan. Like, so, so terrible. And I would feel this way even if it were Margo's own baby...
-
The Magicians, S02E08- Word As Bond
Thank you again to Mathy for commissioning this episode of The Magicians! I feel well and caught up now. This episode, we get to see the fallout of Quentin's deal with Alice, and it turns out that she's looking for a way to break free of him and continue to live as a Niffin without getting boxed....
-
The Magicians, S02E07- Plan B
Thank you again so much to Mathy for going hard this week with a bunch of episodes of The Magicians in a row this week! This episode was sooooooo much fun. Of course, I might be biased because of the fact that Julia's pregnancy might finally be actually done and over with as a plot point…

The Magicians, S02E06- The Cock Barrens
Thanks so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! It's been a while since I've gotten to cover an episode (and by "a while" I mean two and a half weeks hahaha) and it's bumming me out that since I've been away, Julia hasn't gotten rid of her demon baby yet. I was hoping that would wrap up...
-
The Magicians, S02E05- Cheat Day
Thank you to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This episode of The Magicians is a bit of a bummer in a number of ways. First, of course, there's the incredibly disturbing storyline with Julia's pregnancy and the fact that this thing (at least I think it's the thing) is keeping her from...
-
The Magicians, S02E04- The Flying Forest
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This show has been a really wild ride, and I'm really at a point where I have no idea what's going to happen next. There's this direction that everything is heading that feels totally unfamiliar and out of nowhere, considering that the...

The Magicians, S02E03- Royal Elimination
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm mad about most of what happens here, as should be obvious at this point, but I'm hopeful that some of the consequences we see here aren't permanent. This is when things really take off in terms of the attacks on both Big Bads, and it...
