The Magicians, S05E13- Fillory And Further
Thank you so much to Jessie for commissioning this, the final episode of The Magicians! I'm honestly really surprised at how satisfying the ending of this series is considering that this wasn't supposed to be the end of the show, and considering how many balls they still had in the air right up until the last second. It's certainly bittersweet because the gang is split up, but there's also a rightness to the fact that there are still quests happening ad infinitum. That just seems like who these people are, you know? Thanks again to all of you who supported me through this whole series, and I hope you enjoyed the ride! Peaches and plums, my friends.

The Magicians, S05E12- The Balls
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! The main takeaway of this episode my utter disbelief that this is the penultimate episode of the series. It's just so incredibly loaded with half-formed ideas that still need a lot of time to percolate and develop, and knowing there's exactly ONE episode left to explain it all is really a tall order. There's also a bunch of musical stuff in this one, which I can take or leave, and a bunch of heist stuff, which I'm totally here for. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S06E11- Be The Hyman
Thank you to Jessie for commissioning this episode! Only three more episodes of this series to go, and I have no idea how we're going to wrap up so quickly! This episode is the one where they sorta come to a conclusion I theorized on last episode, in which I suggested maybe using the World Seed to create a new Fillory...or something? What it comes down to is that they want to allw Fillory to be destroyed, and Fen is not okay with it. And meanwhile, I'm having mixed feelings about this season and it seems like I'm really not going to be satisfied by the time this is all over. I guess we will have to wait and see!Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S05E10- Purgatory
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode is when we FINALLY get the answer to so many of the questions that I've been asking (and which NOBODY else has been asking, BTW) and it's actually pretty interesting. Turns out that the Takers are the guard dogs of the Underworld, and they've been dragging people away because...I guess they're confused over who is alive and who is dead and deserves to be pulled into Hell? Whatever. We get to see Hades again, and I find him so compelling but ALSO goddamn dude take some fucking responsibility. You fucking BAILED and your shit started to fall apart. This is YOUR fault! WHERE YOU BEEN, bro? Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

61
The Magicians, S05E09- Cello Squirrel Daffodils
Thank you Jessie for commissioning this episode! Alright so we're starting to get some answers about who the hell the Dark King is and what his motivations are, but I'm so annoyed that nobody wants to know WHY he brought the Takers with him or what they are. This is key information that could help you defeat both them AND him, you guys! You should be more interested!Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S5E08- Garden Variety Homicide
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! Alright so I was a little bit unhappy with the last episode, but I think that unhappiness has grown into full-blown concern about the final season at this point. I don't understand what the writers are doing with the Dark King at all. I do not understand why I'm supposed to feel sorry for him, or why anyone else does. I do not understand why nobody is asking questions about him and who he is, who the Takers are and where they come from, what happens to the people they take, literally ANYTHING. Our whole crew is out here planning an assassination with NO FUCKING INFORMATION and I just can't get on board with the story because I'm so distracted by the fact that they don't even seem interested in the reasons why! Ugh. That's all just ugh.

The Magicians, S05E07- Acting Dean
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode brings back the alternate timeline thing again, except instead of traveling to one of them, the people from that timeline travel to us. I'm definitely here for a borderline psycho Dean and I'm hoping that we get to see more of him despite being taken out of play at the end of the episode. Meanwhile, Julia is taking on saving Fillory, and I'm already feeling kind of exhausted by the whole thing. I don't really know what the show is trying to do with the storyline with the Dark King, and this whole thing with Margo being falsely accused of being responsible for the Fey losing their home and power is deeply frustrating. Idk y'all but I'm pretty mad by the end of this episode. Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you again soon!

The Magicians, S05E06- Oops!... I Did It Again
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I really loved this one, because it was a rare episode in which Elliot gets to have an unqualified success, and also he opens up to friends and in genuinely vulnerable with them. We don't get to see him doing well and believing in himself very often, and it's so lovely to see his smile at the start of the time-travel scene when he realizes that the gambit worked and the moon is not yet broken. I loved this! Also, the reveal of who has actually been inside his head is hilarious, although I stand by the fact the the editing of a scene during the previous episode had me CERTAIN that something had happened off-camera. Anyway, thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

57
The Magicians, S05E05- Apocalypse? Now?!
Thank you to Jessie for commissioning this episode! So this shit really popped off early, huh? I thought that we weren't going to get this convergence until the end of the season, and instead it looks like we're going to be dealing with a whole other problem which is a direct result of trying to stop it. Or at least, of Marina interfering with trying to stop it. Ah, Marina. We can always rely on you messing up the works. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
56
The Magicians, S05E04- Magicians Anonymous
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! So this is a pretty neat episode that explores a whole other world that we've never seen before, AKA the Etheric Realm (sp?) which seems like a pretty great, chill place to be. Katie and the Dean go there together to find answers, and he winds up having to stay there, even though Katie was pretty eager to remain behind herself. Understandably! But apparently feeling of personal responsibility aren't welcome, and she's feeling too much of an obligation to help other people to be allowed to stay. Then there's the whole thing with Penny. It's such an odd storyline because we're being fed the barest details in bits and pieces, and I still feel like I have no concept of what's going on there even after the big reveal. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
55
The Magicians, S05E03- The Mountain Of Ghosts
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode!I thought this episode was really moving and I was so glad that we get to see Eliot really get to take ownership of the relationship he had with Quentin. It's a shame that his rebound is almost the Dark King, but you know what? Maybe that would have worked out for him. Or maybe not. Meanwhile, Margo finds out that Josh and Fen had sex after her disappearance, and now Fen is a werewolf. It becomes clear quite quickly that Margo is not in control of her jealousy, and she almost kills Fen...and then reveals that she wasn't the one who sent the message that allowed them to jump ahead in time. Which surprised me, I don't know if I'm just slow or what. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!
-
54
The Magicians, S05E02- The Wrath Of The Time Bees
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! So we get to see what happens when someone attempts to raise a golem with the wrong intention in their hearts, and poor Alice gets (in a way) the chance to say goodbye that she wanted. It's actually kind of touching, and a nice way to pay homage to the time-honored tradition of magicians attempting to raise their dearly departed loved ones. Meanwhile, in Fillory, Margo is trying to fix the fucked-uppedness of her current sitch, and with the help of Elliot and his stolen time-devices, manages to get Josh back! She sacrifices her kingdom for Josh! Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S05E01- Do Something Crazy
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode!Well it's been a minute since I finished off Season 4, but honestly it feels like it's been about a week, at most. I'm really excited to be starting the new season, and I'm exciting that we're spending a good amount of time with Julia because I've liked her a lot for a while now and I have wanted her to have a chance to shine more than she has. Meanwhile, whatever is going on in Fillory is a goddamn nightmare and I hate it. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S04E13- No Better To Be Safe Than Sorry
Thank you very much to Michael for not only commissioning this episode, but also for commissioning a live watch! I was able to hang out on Crowdcast and experience this excellent finale with all of you, and Melanie was in the chat ALSO watching for the first time, which was pretty awesome! I really am impressed with the risk this finale took in killing off a person that many people would consider to be the main character. And while I've often had my suspicions about someone coming back after being killed, I'm pretty confident (due to the handling of his death) that Quentin isn't coming back. Thanks again to everyone for listening, and I will see you next month with the start of Season 5!

The Magicians, S04E12- The Secret Sea
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! In this episode, Josh is a fish. I did not see that one coming. Also, fucking Plover is still alive and I'm disgusted. However, it looks like the gang has a chance to fight back against the monsters, so that's something awesome. Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S04E11- The 4-1-1
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! Well this episode proves to be very enlightening, with the introduction to The Binder, and the revelation on just how the Monster and his sister were made. I really want to know HOW they were made, though, because the whole thing is treated they came to be, though, because he calls them "mistakes" and implies that they were cut up into pieces as babies, which we saw isn't actually true. Can the Binder lie? Meanwhile, Zelda and Kady find out what her old mentor is up to, but it seems like they've ALSO been found out because they're locked in the Poison Room while investigating. Whoops. Really should have had a doorstop or something. Thanks for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!
-
49
The Magicians, S04E10- All That Hard, Glossy Armor
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I loved this episode a ton. I mean, it's Margo-centric, which usually speaks to me, but it's also about women's voices being oppressed and the realization of many young women that they are not going to get what they were promised. Or if they do, it will cost a higher price than anyone cares to admit. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode, and I will be seeing you soon with another!
-
48
The Magicians, S04E09- The Serpent
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This was a really good one. I'm a huge fan of Eliot's acting, and I really thought he managed to push himself in this episode to do some things that were pretty unsettling. Also, the fucking scene with Margo and Fen absolutely killed me. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
47
The Magicians, S04E08- Home Improvement
Thank you to Ashely for commissioning this episode! I'm really enjoying this season so far, and this was a particularly fun one. I really liked the overall weirdness of a dragon egg that makes everyone want to care for it, and I was a fan of the twist with Alice's mother actually giving a shit about her. HOWEVER, I'm not totally on board with this prophesy thing at the end of Fen's storyline. Why is she believing this random creature? MAYBE IT'S A TRICK!Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
46
The Magicians, S04E07- The Side Effect
Thank you very much to Nicole for this commission! What a weird episode this is, too! I'm very much here for the way in which this episode emphasizes side character plots and challenges us to think of them as MAIN characters. We are asked, in a way, why we see Quentin as the "main" character, and then we get to see what's going on with a bunch of the women in the story. I liked it! Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
45
The Magicians, S04E06- A Timeline And Place
Thank you so much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! This is kind of a bonkers one, where Penny and Marina travel to a few different realities, but the biggest thing for me is that Alice meets Sheila and I LOVE ALL OF THIS. Thanks for listening!
-
44
The Magicians, S04E05- Escape From The Happy Place
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This episode was compelling AF and I don't know what to think about the way it wraps because I'm assuming this means the monster was fooled but I'm really worried that it's going to start to catch on. Oh also Penny is kidnapped and I have no idea what that's about? Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
43
The Magicians, S04E04- Marry F**k Kill
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! So this episode is a really wild ride, and I actually liked it a lot despite the fact that I take issue with how Josh gets to fuck every hot girl on this show. At the very least, he wasn't the one who suggested it, I suppose. There's a whole thing with Alice running into Plover, as well, which was a really weird turn of events, and I'm not sure what exactly the show is doing with this. Hmm. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
42
The Magicians, S04E03- The Bad News Bear
Thank you so much to Ashley for commissioning this episode. First of all, I LOVED this episode. I'm such a huge fan of heist shit, as we all know, and this was a really fun spin on an old standby...the card game. Also, I like when Quentin gets to be good at something. However, I'm really going to need Alice to break out of Library jail because damn but I am hardcore BORED of her storyline. Thank god for the Creature being interesting enough to make up for it. Thank you all for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
41
The Magicians, S04E02- Lost, Found, F**ked
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I'm feeling pretty confident about this season so far, and this episode is one of the reasons why. I like seeing the way the spell worked, I loved the humor of the Dean going from one person to another with confessions, and I'm glad that everyone has come back to themselves. But also, I'm glad that Marina doesn't succeed with her spell, because goddamn does she hate her dad. Yikes. Thanks for listening!
-

The Magicians, S04E01- A Flock Of Lost Birds
Thank you to Nicole for commissioning this episode! Well Season 4 is off to a rollicking start, and I'm fascinated by the fact that everyone even LOOKS like someone else. I really should have assumed it would work that way, but I can't tell you how stupid I feel for not picking up on that sooner. I'm going to write less for each of these Spoil Me! posts from now on and let the eps speak for themselves. Thanks for listening, and see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S03E13- Will You Play With Me?
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! This episode is a bit bananas and I'm still not entirely sure whether I like it or not. There were parts that I liked, but the things that annoyed me keep nagging at me to the point that it might overshadow the stuff in the pro column. In the end, we wind up with magic back...kind of. It's being tightly regulated by the library, and the flow isn't consistent enough for them to really accomplish anything. Not only that, but our crew has all had their memories wiped, and their personalities have been replaced by a whole new one. I'm super interested to see what kind of personas they wound up with. Oh, and Eliot is possessed. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with the premiere of Season 4!

38
The Magicians, S03E12- The Fillorian Candidate
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! So here's where shit starts to get real, huh? There are a lot of things that happened this episode, but of course the most notable of them is Queen Margo The Destroyer being voted High King. And not only that, but she gets her eye back! Well, a version of it, anyway. But there's also another thing going on with Julia! She's flat-out accelerating in her magic straight towards being a god, practically, and she's able to restore the Dean's sight and regrow the forest that she burned down when she was shadeless. And man, that was satisfying. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
37
The Magicians, S03E11- Twenty-Three
Thank you so much to Ashely for commissioning this episode! So this is a weird one! I will give the writers credit, they decided to find an interesting way to get Penny back into the show without just figuring out a loophole for getting out of the Underworld, and that was some pretty creative thinking! This episode is mostly about Josh and Julia, who inadvertently wind up in the 23rd timeline that Jane created when trying to figure out how to stop the Beast. In this timeline, the Beast has not yet been defeated, and he wears a key around his neck....oh word? Turns out the Beast isn't who we thought, and there's a specific reason he wants to see Julia. What is it that she let in when she opened the door in his vision? Thanks so much for listening, and i will see you all again soon with a new episode!
-
36
The Magicians, S03E10- The Art Of The Deal
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! WHEW! This episode is very satisfying and packed with action, and I'm pretty delighted by it. I didn't think there was a way for you to make me feel anything like sympathy for the faerie queen, but it turns out I was very very wrong. The fey on earth aren't even aware that they have magic, and I guess that the oldest of them, who still remembers the original deal, probably thought that would just make it easier for all of them to bear what they're going through. But it's heartbreaking to know this is the price they're paying for the new settlement in Fillory, and I'm worried that is where Irene is headed now. Can she know about it? Is she that foolhardy? Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you very shortly with a new episode!
-
35
The Magicians, S03E09- All That Josh
This episode is brought to you by Ashley, so thank you so much for commissioning it, Ashley! This episode stays on my good side by not becoming a whole musical, and I appreciate that. There's a lot in this that is super fun, actually. I really enjoy the demon taking on Todd's appearance, because i just enjoy Todd sneaking back into things here and there. He's just such a weird one. There's a bit of sadness to the joy of this episode, because it turns out that Josh is waiting for his friends to come rescue him and it seems like they've forgotten all about him. In truth, they didn't really come for him in the end, anyway. They came for the key. Poor Josh. Thanks for listening, everyone! See you again soon!

34
The Magicians, S03E08- Six Short Stories About Magic
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! This episode is really interesting and I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. The main thing of interest, to me at least, is that there's a woman named Cassandra who for some reason looks exactly like an older version of Alice, and she's the one writing out the portions of the stories that we see. Why does she look like Alice? Does it matter? Thanks so much to all of you for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!
-
33
The Magicians, S03E07- Poached Eggs
Thank you very much to Jessie for commissioning this episode! This episode is when Margo and Elliot try out their blackmail scheme on the fairy queen, and they find out (rather unceremoniously) that Frey isn't even their real daughter. I know we all had our doubts, but there's so much double-crossing and faking out on this show that I'm not sure I believe that she's not. Could this be a double-fake for some reason? Meanwhile, we get the thing with Julia and Alice and the transferring of power. and after a close call that nearly fucks Julia up, Alice gives it all back. And she tells Julia that she's sure that the power is unique to Julia, which makes Julia feel like she's a little less tainted by Reynard. I appreciate that! Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
32
The Magicians, S03E06- Do You Like Teeth?
Thank you very much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! So in this episode, we're getting to see the fallout from poor Margo's true love Micah being unceremoniously decapitated by his creepy little brother. Turns out that in his culture, a younger brother can't get married or own property, which honestly does seem like a recipe for this kind of shit to happen. Long story short, Eliot is tasked with getting Margo to consummate the marriage...which he makes sure NOT to do. Bless him. Meanwhile, Alice is working on trying to make Penny a new body, and it doesn't go well. There's clearly something going on with the magic she got from Julia, and it seems as if it's too much for her. And then there's the main event, which is a really disturbing development...the other key makes a depression monster. Of yourself. Thanks, I hate it.

The Magicians, S03E05- A Life In The Day
Thanks so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode!I have a feeling a lot of you were waiting for me to get to this episode, and I totally get why. There's a lot of good stuff going on here, and even though I have a huge problem with the logic behind how Margo's story turned out, even her story is riveting this time around rather than just frustrating. But of course, we're all here for the storyline between Quentin and Eliot and their time in past Fillory where magic is back and they're trying to assemble a mosaic. It's a really sweet story of the two of them growing closer, trusting one another, and experiencing the joys and losses of life. I'm totally into it. I really hope that they're able to hold onto that closeness, since it seems by the end of the episode they can remember what happened. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you soon with the next episode!
-
30
The Magicians, S03E04- Be The Penny
Thank you so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! So this episode I find out what's really going on with Penny, and it turns out to be worse than I had feared. Getting back into his body turns out to be the least of his problems, because turns out that nobody can hear or see him and so not a soul is aware he isn't actually dead. Then, by the end of the episode, his body gets burned up...so what the hell? Then there's the whole thing with Julia and the weird messages she's been getting from some unknown force. Thank goodness, too, or else Kady would be dead, and damn what a loss that would be. I really like Kady a lot and I hate watching her go through this. Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

29
The Magicians, S03E03- The Losses Of Magic
Thank you very much to Nicole for commissioning this episode!Wow, y'all, this episode was a little bonkers wasn't it! I don't know what to make of this development about the boats being alive, but I'm a huge fan of the fact that Margo handled it so well, and I'm hella proud of her for smushing her eye. That took some real commitment. But of course, the main issue this episode is the fact that fucking Penny is dead? Kind of? I am just not really sure what this means (of course) because he's not actually passing on into the spirit world or the underworld or whatever you call it. So how does he get back into his body? Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

28
The Magicians, S03E02- Heroes And Morons
Thanks so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm totally feeling this season so far, even if this episode felt a little bit sloppy in comparison with the first one. There's no avoiding that, I suppose, when you're linking this many plot threads together. We've got the main quest, where Eliot is out sailing to a strange island to find one of the seven keys, and then there's the side quest where Quentin, Julia, and Josh are following some vague clues around the city in an effort to track down one of the remaining magical batteries that Mayakovsky made. Turns out, one of their professors is out here doing some bonkers magic and has a grudge against the guy. In the end, though, Kady winds up stealing the remaining battery in order to save Penny. So, now what? Thanks so much for listening, and thank you again to Nicole for commissioning!

27
The Magicians, S03E01- The Tale Of The Seven Keys
Thank you to Ashley for commissioning this episode! I can't believe we're already in Season 3, and damn I can't believe how much more focused and well-organized this season is already in comparison to the start of Season 2!Magic is still missing, and there's no hope in sight...until the Great Cock decides to bestow a Quest on Eliot. This is 100% what I'm talking about. I LOVE a good quest, and I'm here for this, my friends. There's even a loophole to the faeries' constant surveillance; a section of the castle built with stone that the fey are very allergic to. However, it does seem that Margo is an unwitting bug, and she and Eliot are forced to speak in code so that the Fey can't make sense of their conversations. Meanwhile, Quentin and Julia head to a party, and Quentin proves to be just as much of a vibe-killer as we all suspected. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E13- We Have Brought You Little Cakes
Thank you so much to Nicole Larsen for commissioning the finale of Season 2 of The Magicians! This episode was a really big surprise to me because I wasn't even aware it was the season finale, so I wasn't prepared for the dramatic turn that the whole story takes. Damn but this all caught me off-guard! It's hard to know where to begin when talking about this episode, so instead I will just talk about the end; in an attempt to save Fillory, the gang gets together and tries to stop Umber from ruining everything. This culminates in his death, as well as his brother's, and as a result their parent(s) decide(s) to turn off the magic faucet and stop everyone from accessing magic. Well, almost everyone, but the faeries still seem to be able to do their thing. Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

25
The Magicians, S02E12- Ramifications
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm going to be honest with y'all and just warn you that I spend a lot of this episode angry and yelling. There is so much to like about this show that it can get really frustrating to me when they don't capitalize on the characters they've created by having them behave in rational ways. There are a lot of things happening in this episode, from Julia and Kady attempting to trap a god, to Quentin and Eliot trying to find a way back into Fillory and running into a god of their own. Then there's the shit with John and his decision to die in service to killing his own father. Oh and did I mention Penny getting into the Poison Room and apparently getting radiation poisoning? How about Josh trying to be king and getting his whole cabinet killed? OH AND YEAH ALICE IS ALIVE AGAIN.I really want to know what happens next, but I'm also really worried about where this is all going. I don't want to stay angry, y'all! Help! Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

24
The Magicians, S02E11- The Rattening
Thank you very much to Ashely for commissioning this episode! It's time for Eliot to tie the knot (again) and he's determined that he will impress his new husband. Unfortunately, things don't exactly go to plan because half the castle turns to rats and that includes his betrothed. Is it the fairies? They claim it's not, but can they be trusted? Meanwhile, Julia and Quentin head to the underworld, and Julia is stunned to find out that Persephone is Our Lady Underground, and that she's disappeared from the underworld as well. She gets the chance to get her shade back, but appears to sacrifice that chance for the sake of Alice. Penny is trying to get the head librarian's book for tips on how to get into the Poison Room and in an attempt to seduce her, finds himself an ally in the kid supervisor. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
-
23
The Magicians, S02E10- The Girl Who Told Time
Thank you very much to Ashley for commissioning this episode! Eliot desperately wants to do something to win over his people, and he gets it into his head that single combat is the way to go. Except that when he's faced with the opportunity to kill that opposing party, he decides to marry them instead. Oopsies. Meanwhile, Quentin is self-medicating and comes across Julia's shade, which sends him down a rabbit hole with her to find alternate Alice and get information on how to restore the shade he found. I'm really worried about the fact that this might lead to something nefarious, and that Julia isn't really on the level. Lots happening, y'all! Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

22
The Magicians, S02E09- Lesser Evils
Thank you so much to Ashley for commissioning this episode of The Magicians even though I hated it and it gave me deep anxiety. Listen, folks, I think we all know that making deals with faeries is a real bad plan. Like, so, so terrible. And I would feel this way even if it were Margo's own baby that she was giving up (also major props to her for being totally open to getting knocked up for the cause) but considering that she's doing this with Fen's baby...oh dear. Yikes. Then there's the whole thing with Julia and her agency being taken away yet again. She is totally willing to sacrifice Quentin, and it's kinda brutal to watch. I'm glad that Kady is locking her up, and I hope they're able to get the shade back. Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E08- Word As Bond
Thank you again to Mathy for commissioning this episode of The Magicians! I feel well and caught up now. This episode, we get to see the fallout of Quentin's deal with Alice, and it turns out that she's looking for a way to break free of him and continue to live as a Niffin without getting boxed. The only person who can help her is this ancient monk, who is very contemptuous of the fact that Quentin is managing to keep her imprisoned at all. Her assignment is to GTFO of his back. Meanwhile, Julia has basically become a psychopath with no compunction about hurting anyone, and I was glad that Margo ends up locking her up because that girl needs to be taken out of circulation for a minute. Lawd. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E07- Plan B
Thank you again so much to Mathy for going hard this week with a bunch of episodes of The Magicians in a row this week! This episode was sooooooo much fun. Of course, I might be biased because of the fact that Julia's pregnancy might finally be actually done and over with as a plot point, although there's obviously going to be a repercussion that goes on for a few more episodes at least. But of course, the main event this episode is the bank heist. All bank heists are super duper fun to watch, but the music in this one is really something and I'm totally here for the fucking disco ball of doom. YES!Thanks so much to all of you for listening and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E06- The Cock Barrens
Thanks so much to Mathy for commissioning this episode! It's been a while since I've gotten to cover an episode (and by "a while" I mean two and a half weeks hahaha) and it's bumming me out that since I've been away, Julia hasn't gotten rid of her demon baby yet. I was hoping that would wrap up off-screen and we could be done with that plot point. Alas. Then there's the whole thing with Quentin and Alice, and Alice's parents. Having already lost a son, they're understandably not dealing with this super well. Her mother in particular is making everything about Alice's death all about her, and it's really frustrating to watch. Turns out that Alice is actually not a ghost at all, but a niffin trapped in Quentin's back. Whaaaa? Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E05- Cheat Day
Thank you to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This episode of The Magicians is a bit of a bummer in a number of ways. First, of course, there's the incredibly disturbing storyline with Julia's pregnancy and the fact that this thing (at least I think it's the thing) is keeping her from aborting it. That whole storyline is fucking horrifying. Then, of course, there's the grieving that poor Quentyn is going through. I am not a Quentyn fan, but his grief is real and it's terrible to see him try and work through it with this girl who is also going through hell. And don't even get me started on what the fuck is going on with Elliot. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E04- The Flying Forest
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! This show has been a really wild ride, and I'm really at a point where I have no idea what's going to happen next. There's this direction that everything is heading that feels totally unfamiliar and out of nowhere, considering that the episode basically ends with Quentyn turning his back on the magical world. Where does he go from here? At least Penny gets his hands back, even if Quentyn can't get Alice back, although I've been wondering what's going to happen if he comes anywhere near Julia and sees Katy working with her. Which brings us to Marina coming back, albeit briefly. Talk about someone kind of coming back from the dead. Meanwhile, Margo and Elliot are working on a loophole to living a life in a world outside Fillory, and it actually goes really well. In the end, though, Elliot has to choose, and the Dean isn't exactly patient. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you all soon with a new episode!

The Magicians, S02E03- Royal Elimination
Thank you so much to Nicole for commissioning this episode! I'm mad about most of what happens here, as should be obvious at this point, but I'm hopeful that some of the consequences we see here aren't permanent. This is when things really take off in terms of the attacks on both Big Bads, and it really does NOT go well. I wish so much that these fucking characters would sit down and fucking TALK to one another, because guess what...this is the shit that happens. Julia gets wrapped up in gloating over Reynard and doesn't kill him in time, Penny swoops in and grabs the Beast but Julia tags along so their attack on him fails, and overall everyone is getting in the goddamned way. Thanks for listening, and I will see you all soon with a new episode!
