September 28, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 28 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers' 30-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday to move to 2-1 on the season. Alex and I discuss the team's perceived health coming out of its third regular-season game in addition to going over the seven players who were inactive for that contest, one of which was once again CB Joey Porter Jr. The trade chatter surrounding Porter Jr. continued to pick up over the weekend so Alex and I go over the possibility of him being jettisoned to another team before Thursday night. The Steelers made several roster moves on Saturday with one of those being rookie OG Gennings Dunker being placed on the Reserve/Injured list. We also discuss the two elevations from the practice squad the team made on Saturday in addition to RB Travis Homer being signed to the 53-man roster. The Steelers offense really looked great against the Bengals, so we start on that side of the football as part of our game recap. We discuss OG Brock Hoffman and OT Max Iheanachor starting against the Bengals on the right side and how both players performed really well. RB Jaylen Warren had a fantastic game on Sunday as did QB Aaron Rodgers. We discuss the effectiveness of the running game against the Bengals and especially when using 12 personnel. The Steelers schemed up several great plays on Sunday with three of those resulting in touchdowns. As great as the offense played on Sunday, Alex and I discuss a few other plays that could have been made in the win. While the Steelers certainly played well enough defensively on Sunday to win, they still allowed the Bengals' offense to move quite easily throughout the game. Even so, we discuss how the defense got big plays from DT Cameron Heyward and DT Derrick Harmon in the fourth quarter to help secure a key AFC North victory. We talk about several snap counts players on the defense registered on Sunday against the Bengals and how the zone-heavy plan on that side of the football only yielded four explosive plays of 20 yards or longer. The Steelers' special teams play against the Bengals was just good enough on Sunday. Alex and I discuss the good, bad and ugly from Sunday’s game when it comes to that phase of the team. We discuss WR DK Metcalf and his drops, the lack of explosive plays on Sunday, and the running game remaining flat overall through two games. Will the Steelers trim down their offensive playbook moving into Week 3? Should there be any personnel changes on the offensive line this coming week? Alex and I attempt to answer those two questions and several more concerning the offense as we move along in this show. The play of rookie WR Germie Bernard was perhaps the most positive thing we saw offensively for the Steelers on Sunday, so we make sure to give him a few props during this show. August 17, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 9 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, that was recorded Sunday night, Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers getting DT Keeanu Benton signed to a four-year, $72 million contract extension a few days ago. Alex and I spend a lot of time talking about the new Benton deal and we speculate what the cash flow might look like through for the contract through the 2027 season and how that amount might be the best way to judge the quality of the signing. We also look back at how the extensions signed earlier in the offseason by OLB Nick Herbig and TE Darnell Washington might compare from a cash flow versus new money average perspective. Alex and I also discuss what Benton’s extension might mean as far as his overall usage and position for at least the 2026 season. We also talk about what the dead cap liability might look like should the Steelers need to part ways with Benton after the 2027 season. Finally, we discuss what areas of Benton's overall play are most likely to improve moving forward into the 2026 season. On the heels of the Benton extension discussion, Alex and I discuss where the Steelers are in terms of available 2026 salary cap space and how the team is likely to restructure at least one contract before the start of the regular season. We also discuss CB Joey Porter Jr. still being likely to sign a contract extension in the next four weeks and how his cash flow average through the 2027 season might come in lower than his new money average. The Steelers have spent a lot more cash than most expected them to spend this offseason so Alex and I discuss how that total could wind up being around $375 million by the start of the regular season. August 14, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 8 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers bringing ILB Elandon Roberts back on a one-year contract. We discuss how he possibly fits on defense moving forward. The Steelers placed DL Logan Lee on the Reserve/Injured list a few days ago, so Alex and I go over what his future looks like. We also pass along the news that OL Lorenzo Thompson has been waived from IR with an injury settlement. The Steelers won their 2026 preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night so Alex I get right into our full recap of that game. We start our game recap by talking about the play of all three quarterbacks, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and rookie Drew Allar. We spend a lot of time looking at the play Thursday night of Howard and Allar as it was the first preseason action for both. After talking extensively about the quarterback play against the Packers, Alex and I then proceed to go position group by position group when it comes to the Thursday night game.
