Sticky Jazz

Welcome to Sticky Jazz, the music show of a Million different opinions on music. I am Jeremy Hinks, a "Gonzo" music journalist in Salt Lake City Utah, I am also the music editor at large for the LGBTQ publication instinct magazine, (nice of them to let a straight guy write for them isn't it?) I will give you the music you might have heard, might not have heard, but definitely should have heard. I'll give you interviews with some big names, some new people, and someone you heard long ago, and they still are kicking. No music is taboo on my show, I'll cover it all. If you like what I do, Please consider sending a donation to help pay for the production, and advertisement of the show. patreon | facebook | twitter | email  #musicjournalism #musicinterviews #gonzojournalism

Sticky Jazz interview Chris Garneau (round 2)

My second interview with acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Garneau, marking four years since our first conversation. In this wide-ranging and deeply philosophical discussion, explore creativity, change, and artistic evolution—delving into territory that left many prepared questions behind in favor of organic, thought-provoking dialogue. These are the best kind of interviews, when the conversation takes on a life of its own.Much has changed in Garneau’s world since the last encounter. Having relocated from upstate New York to “The City,” the artist channeled the energy, intensity, and new experiences of urban life into his bold new album, In Reverse The record represents a striking sonic departure, blending resurrected 1989 indie aesthetics with lush dream pop, while fluidly navigating the spaces between goth and shoegaze. Nothing was off limits.During the interview, Garneau reflects on the unpredictable journey of the album’s creation. Several songs evolved into completely different entities than originally envisioned, resulting in a finished product that bears little resemblance to its earliest iterations. The final work delivers a rich, immersive experience full of texture and surprise. The conversation also dives into the album’s lyrical landscape, which pushes boundaries in the tradition of Tom Waits’ nonsensical poetry on RAINDOGS and the ethereal, otherworldly vocals of Liz Fraser with Cocteau Twins. Listeners can expect everything from introspective storytelling to abstract, dreamlike expression.“There is something for everyone on this album,”. From sonic adventurers to those drawn to profound lyricism, "In Reverse" offers a compelling and multifaceted body of work.Tune in to hear Chris Garneau discuss his artistic evolution, the influence of his new environment, and the unexpected paths that led to one of his most ambitious releases to date.Website Instagram Spotify #chrisgarneau #gaysingers
