We have one mandate – make disciples of all the nations through the proclamation of the gospel and the establishment of strong local churches through the preaching and living of the Word of God – and thus in every part of our lives we are to be engaged in this task. There is a time for Word-informed prayer, and there is a time for Word-directed work, but even when it is time to work we must continue to pray because a God-glorifying outcome is always dependent of God’s power. We are to pray, and work, and continue to pray. Keywords: Prayer, Providence, Work

In order for the people of God to accomplish the purposes of God through prayer they must continually deepen in their knowledge and understanding of the Word of God which enables them to pray with depth, wisdom, and insight. Christ is the supreme King, Redeemer, Creator, Lord, and Man who alone is worthy of our worship, adoration, and obedience because He alone is the provider of salvation from eternal death, salvation to eternal life, and satisfaction of every true need and desire. In order for the people of God to accomplish the purposes of God they must first humble themselves, confess their sin, and take hold of God’s divine resources by thankfully asking for His favor, provision, and power. In order to make the most of our new facility we must pursue opportunities for growth and change in our relationships and ministries, but must stand firm in the exercise of our fundamental biblical purposes as a church. God sovereignly preservers a remnant of His people and raises up leaders to shepherd them in accomplishing His purpose to establish His kingdom through the redemption accomplished in the the person and work of the promised Messiah. Those who fear God are quick to acknowledge their sin, not only the commission of sin, but also the true guilt that sin brings, and so they humbly cry out to God for His mercy and lovingkindness, apart from which they would surely perish. God sovereignly supports and strengthens His people to live faithful lives of humility, integrity, and industry so that God is glorified as His purposes are accomplished.
