Swish Edition
by Bethwick Media LLC
This long-running comedy and pop culture podcast launched in October 2010. The "Swish Edition" is hosted by Scott Wallis from his 'secret underground studio' in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Robbie Barnett, coming to you from just outside Walla Walla, Washington. The weekly show features news and snarky commentary on the entertainment industry, travel, marketing trends, crazy celebrities, crazier criminals, people behaving badly, and much more. Scott, along with the now-retired Dale Blades, originated the show in Washington, D.C., before moving to Las Vegas in 2018. Episodes have been heard in over 144 countries, have featured hundreds of guests from all walks of life, and, once upon a time, the show reached the top 2% of Apple Podcasts' comedy list. New episodes drop every Wednesday.

Jason Voorhees' Least Favorite Friday
Two episodes in one week?! Yup, it's true. In this Friday BONUS episode, we try to figure out what those people are doing in New York City's sewers at night…question Elmo's allegiance to the Knicks…tell ya what we thought of "Scary Movie 6"…find out why a new movie is being released exclusively on VHS…why an environmentalist drag queen is getting sued by a clothing company…and warn you that AI voice cloning scams are on the rise big time (don't send anybody any money without triple checking if Grandma really is in jail, people). All that and much more. It's a super special bonus episode for Friday, June 12, which is, as you can probably imagine, Jason Voorhees' least favorite kind of Friday. Lipstick on the Airbag
Sometimes great plans don't come together as intended, but then something altogether different happens. This week, Scott wrote an inspired 10-story outline, but he and Robbie only got to four of the topics! So, y'all get today's show, then a bonus episode this coming Friday, June 12. Yup, we've got A LOT to say this week. Episode 518 curiously starts with an age-old question: "Is ketchup an appropriate condiment on a hot dog?' before we pop over to Madonna's surprise mini-concert in Times Square (plus, a review her new short movie that dropped this week on YouTube)…ask if people really should put the phone away at concerts and live in the moment (Madonna says YES, as do we, sort of)…ponder why Hollywood isn't making rewatchable and quotable movies in the 21st century…and then, break down our history with Broadway shows including a little bit about Sunday's Tony Awards. It's certainly a myriad, but it's super fun. We promise. And you always believe us…right? Stream, download, and subscribe to the audio version of the show on most popular podcast distribution apps and sites, such as Spotify, iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Audible, YouTube Music, and Podbean. Hot Fun in the Summertime
With Robbie in Walla Walla, Washington, and Scott in Palm Springs, California, this week, the boys are all over the place even though they attempted to stay on track…but that's what makes the episode more fun! They're talking about a super fun Guinness World Record set in Palm Springs this past weekend; General Motors' fleecing of America; alligators are popping up in unusual places (and in more ways than one); actor Brad Pitt is being sued by a penis cream company; KFC wants to give you a new nickname; the Tony Awards are coming to our TVs this Sunday; "Scary Movie 6" and "Masters of the Universe" are coming to theaters this Friday; "Cape Fear" is getting an AppleTV series remake; and your hosts share their customized Summer music playlists. Cross-Eyed Bear
This week, (an utterly exhausted) Scott is on the east coast and (a much more coherent) Robbie is on the west coast…so they come together in the middle to talk about the suicide-by-commercial-jet incident at Denver International; the enterprising TikTok creator who secured pledges of over $330 million to buy Spirit Airlines; talk about fun and funny misheard pop song lyrics from the 1990's— "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" and "Cross-eyed bear" come to mind first. —the most rewatched movies in the U.S. are tabulated and your hosts each tell you their TOP 5— None of the lists include "Encino Man," y'all! —sources at Disney tell Deadline.com that "Hocus Pocus 3" has allegedly been green lit for a theatrical run; and, the 'Mouth of the South,' the cable TV revolutionary, Ted Turner, has passed away. Past Performance Does Not Guarantee Future Results
It's 05-06-26, y'all! It's fun to say that date out loud. It's also fun to listen and/or watch our newest pop culture round up, as long as you keep in mind that, "Past Performance Does Not Guarantee Future Results." That episode title is kind of a nod to one of our big stories this week…the new concept of 'Blue Dot Fever.' (And don't worry if you don't know what that is; we'll tell ya). Also up this hour: A salute to Mother's Day (it's this coming Sunday) with our Favorite TV Series Moms of All Time Dolly Parton cancels her Vegas residency AGAIN A United Airlines plan descended a bit too soon in Newark A Delta passenger refused to hang up her phone—shocking! Was Monday's MET GALA a boom or a bust? (It was sure busty!) Can anything be done about the 2,000 pound sea lion? And former child actor does porn. Once. All that and more are packed into Episode 513. And for no reason whatsoever, hosts Scott and Robbie are depicted as their vintage selves on a tropical beach for the title card and opening theme. Just because. _________ Stream, download, and subscribe to the audio version of the show on most popular podcast distribution apps and sites, such as Spotify, iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Audible, YouTube Music, and Podbean. Rock Lobster
Robbie and Scott have launched their podcast rocket to planet 'Rock Lobster' in order to explore all the out-of-this-world pop culture news and view of the week, including: We are officially Halfway to Halloween. Star Wars Day is next Monday. Henry Winkler, Laurie Metcalf, and Sally Field tell us stuff we didn't know about classic TV shows and movies. Wile E. Coyote finally gets his day in court. Madonna was back at it again this past weekend. Sex injuries send a lot of people to the ER. Yikes! The super rare two-tone lobster is a thing. Some do-gooder killed a pet lobster. Plus, Red Lobster has lost their damn mind again. And we'll ask…are you a Nazi? All that and the new MICHAEL movie, too! All that, and much more pop culture goodness for April 29, 2026. _________ Stream, download, and subscribe to the audio version of the show on most popular podcast distribution apps and sites, such as Spotify, iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Audible, YouTube Music, and Podbean. A SWISH EXTRA - The "Michael" Biopic Review
The new "Michael" biopic from director Antoine Fuqua and writer John Logan—produced and approved by the (majority of ) the Jackson family—is genuinely a feel-good, sing-along inspiring ride. However, even though it's the biggest film opening of 2026 so far, it is not a hit with professional critics; many have pointed out misaligned timelines and the blaring omission of key people, events, and controversies that made up a significant part of the King of Pop's first 30 years. That aside, we enjoyed the film, and agree the casting and acting are spot on, especially when it comes to Jaafar Jackson as Michael. He uncannily manages to channel the well-documented mannerisms, speaking and singing voices, and even the innovative dancing style of his late uncle. We recommend the movie whether or not you are, or were, a diehard Michael Jackson fan. But we have a warning: what you will be getting is a sanitized version of what really happened (his own daughter, Paris, has publicly said as much). We are also looking forward to the much-anticipated—and now certainly green-lit, though unannounced—sequel that will cover his 30s and 40s. Unfortunately, however, we know how that movie will end. In this 'Swish Extra,' we'll break down the movie and tell you what we think about the biggest celebrity biopic of all time, now playing at a theater near you. NOTE: Do we need a spoiler alert for a uber-documented global superstar's biopic? Yes, we talk about EVERYTHING. If you want to know nothing, like Scott did before he went to the theater, see the movie first, then come back to our in-depth discussion. _________ Stream, download, and subscribe to the audio version of the show on most popular podcast distribution apps and sites, such as Spotify, iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Audible, YouTube Music, and Podbean. Play It As It Lies
From their split studios in Las Vegas and Walla Walla, Scott and Robbie have all the silly pop culture news and views for April 15, 2026. This week they're talking about the death of "H. R. Pufnstuf" creator Sid Krofft; home distilling spirits is no longer banned; the craziness that is the Coachella music festival, including all the headliners and celebrity attendees (like pop singer Katy Perry and her former Canadian prime minister boyfriend Justin Trudeau); tons of Madonna album and TV series rumors; Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding date and location rumors; where is "Who's the Boss?" actor Danny Pintauro now; "Back to the Future" actor Michael J. Fox is NOT dead despite what CNN said; Cameron Diaz is doing a "Troop Beverly Hills" sequel and stars with Keanu Reeves in AppleTV's new "Outcome" movie; and Tom Holland has a new Vuori advertisement that's going viral. Celebrity Overload and Chicken Coops
It seems we like to keep shaking things up here at the 'Swish Edition.' Because Kristin has stepped away from the podcast, Scott recruited one of his longtime friends—a fellow pop culture aficionado—Robbie Barnett to step up to the microphone from his home in Walla Walla, Washington. In this celebrity and movie-heavy episode, the guys talk about the announcement that "Scream 8" is in development; a review of the new "The Drama" dark comedy starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya; Robbie's celebrity-filled con weekend where he got to meet the cast of "Stand By Me," including Will Wheaton, Cory Feldman, and Jerry O'Connell, pop singer Debbie Gibson, actresses Helen Slater and Morgan Fairchild, and actor Reginald VelJohnson; we talk about Hawaiian Airline pilots losing their battle to keep their facial hair; an entire shift of employees are fired from a Chik-fil-A restaurant for a tasteless viral video; another Chik-fil-A encourages patrons to put down the phone while they enjoy their meal with family members; it's rumored that super television producer Ryan Murphy is developing a new mini-series about the love affair between Fleetwood Mac members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks; and, Scott tells his infamous Carrie Fisher cruise ship story. I Find Your Fondness for Fondue Phenomenal
We had a lot of fun this week…and Scott went over the line more than a few times. Kristin, meanwhile, tried to keep it together…and she refused to say the bad words Scott scripted for her. Oh well, there's always next week. This week's topics include the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2026; Metallica's just-announced (and pricy!) Las Vegas Sphere residency; Tampa, Florida is fed up and they want to ban pajamas at their airport; McDonald's debuts the massive Big Arch burger (it's a heart attack waiting to happen); the Pope wants priests to stop using artificial intelligence to write their homilies; Burger King is using AI to spy on their employees; Los Angeles wants you to 'Ride the D;' a TikTok influencer thinks it'd be funny if people washed their underwear in hotel room coffee makers; and, BMW's new line of car colors have tongues wagging…and people seriously divided. Outback Toilet Shattered a Penis, Annoying Wedding at 35,000 Feet, and GLP-1 Drugs Save Airlines Millions
After their four week holiday hiatus, Kristin and Scott are back, kicking off 2026 with pop culture stories all over the map, including: The Oscar telecast is moving to YouTube in 2029. A Outback Steakhouse toilet claims a poor man's penis. The fan-made classic MTV feed that'll take you back to the good ol' days. "Pretty in Pink" turns 40 years old next month (how old do you feel now?!). Taylor Swift's Eras doc is totally worth a watch on Disney+. No, it wasn't us; Amy Poehler wins Best Podcast at the Golden Globes. A couple annoyingly gets married at 35,000 feet on a Southwest flight. BTW, the big airlines are celebrating GLP-1 drugs. Sad Fact of the Week: Scott watched 531 hours of Bravo realty shows last year. LA's "The Brady Bunch" house might be preserved forever and ever.
