Season 6 - Jesus in the Wild - Matthew 4:12-25 - Anna Spray (NT)
We would love to hear from you!Jesus departs from the wilderness and begins his public ministry and he calls his first disciples to come follow Him. Instead of going directly to Jerusalem, he goes to the northern-most territories of Israel and spends time teaching and healing the poor. Jesus does not cater to the powerful, but desires to see freedom from sin for the oppressed, no matter their class or social status.

We would love to hear from you!The Holy Spirit leads Jesus into the wild and the devil aims to disqualify Jesus from being Saviour. Everything Jesus says in response to this testing is wisdom from God written in the scriptures. In the same way, God uses these kinds of testing experiences to empower us and enable us to remain faithful throughout all seasons of life. God's love never lets go of us, even in the times of the wilderness.

Even though he does not need to repent, Jesus chooses to step fully into Israel's story by being baptized and identifying with the need to repent that all others humans face. In this way, he shows that God's righteousness moves TOWARDS sinners, not away from them.
