The Trump character manages to do the impossible- piss off a bunch of Canadians! It's "Talking Trump Thursday" (a new thing!) which means a new episode of "Talking Trump: The American Emperor Aftershow!" When we last left off, the "Trump Character" had won the election with a disturbing amount of support from the American people. During the stretch drive of his campaign, he revealed a secret weapon of sorts, a man with more money than any other human being in the world, and a new character, "Elon Musk".  Musk's limitless fortunes and social media presence, along with a seeming pivotal 4-hour interview with comedian turned "medical advice giver" Joe Rogan, put the Trump character in the driver's seat and the 4-time indicted felon, who wears orange make-up and incited an insurrection, cruised to victory over an articulate and attractive standing Vice President, who was a former Senator and attorney general.  As season two came to a close we saw the Trump character's 3 other major indictments fade into the ether, long delayed by corrupt judges appointed by the Trump character himself, and he began choosing his cabinet team, each choice more offensive than the last. Russian assets for Director of National Intelligence, a vaccine denier with a "brain worm" for Director of Health and Human Services, and a weekend Fox morning show host for Secretary of Defense. As Season Three of American Emperor begins, the Trump character walks into the same rotunda in the Capitol building, that just four years earlier his supporters broke into, waving Confederate Flags and smearing poop on the walls. The Trump character hits the "town hall circuit", producing a series of increasingly insane shitshows where he takes credit for in vitro fertilization, calls for the military to punish his personal enemies, and calls January 6th a "day of love". It's like "The West Wing", but if it was airing in the Upsidedown from Stranger Things. Meanwhile, the Kamala Harris character heads over to FOX News for an interview with a cyborg programmed to interrupt every answer she gives. And we get our first extended taste of the "richest man in the world" character, who in between sending rockets into space and making electric cars, feels like he should show up in random fields to get cheered on by MAGA's. Will he be te force that pushes the Trump character over the hump?  Will he be too much of a Bond villain rip off, and crash in a helicopter on his way to an actual Jurassic Park that he's funded and made happen? Or will he get a tummy ache from drinking too much Strawberry Nestle's Quick? It's truly anyone's guess. After two tremendous debate episodes it was time for the Vice-Presidential candidates to take their turn in the spotlight, and boy did they not disappoint, if you were looking to be bored. In a ferocious contest, the likes of which we haven't seen since Ambien squared off against Lunesta, the two running-mates stood toe to toe while America wondered if it was too harsh in its review of "watching paint dry".  JD Vance (the world's worst human being, think Donald Trump, but boring) when up against Tim Waltz, who was clearly out of his element (in all fairness, his element is teaching a kid how to ride a bike) and the sparks…also changed the channel. Although most of the evidence for this is anecdotal, the debate was such a snoozer, some people actually changed the channel to watch a baseball game!  As for the candidates, the stakes couldn't be higher, with the winner of this thing moving on to fight Propofol for the championship. Meanwhile, the Trump character went on a merch-debuting, non-sense-spewing rampage. Whether it was diagnosing the Kamala Harris character with mental deficiencies, while actually thinking someone would buy a watch he was selling for 100K, it was a full week, and a phenomenal episode. We are CLEARLY in sweeps!  Part one of a two-part Aftershow round up!  When there is so much going on in a show that an assassination attempt on the main character becomes basically a C-story plotline by the end of an episode, you know producers and writers of the popular but FICTIONAL show "American Emperor" are pulling out all the stops.
