Taste and See

When your body argues that there’s no good reason to continue, call on your spirit. It agrees with God. 

What makes us “steadfast, immovable” (1 Cor 15:58)? Look back to the cross and ahead to the glory. 

Safe on the Rock, dwelling in His tabernacle, under His wings—mixed metaphors never sounded so good!

How ready God is to give us another chance! Like His wisdom, He is “easy to be entreated” (Jas 3:17, KJV). 

Why should the wicked fear God’s mercy? Because His mercy for us means wrath upon our oppressors. 

Mercy and wrath are united in the character of God. His wrath defends those who trust in His mercy. 

The tribulation will be “unmatched from the beginning of the world until now” (Mt 24:21, BSB). What will the faithful sing? 

“All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies” (Ps 25:10). 

We are “as sheep in the midst of wolves,” so we need to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Mt 10:16). 

You cannot betray a friend without, in the end, finding that you have stabbed your own heart. 

With this psalm, you may feel like you’re reading someone else’s mail. Or others are reading yours! 

“Whoever drinks of the water that I [Christ] shall give him will never thirst” (Jn 4:14). 

Life’s hardest decisions are often choosing to show love to God over loyalty to family (Mt 10:37). 

Like a dual lock on a cask of treasures, David concludes Book I of the Psalms with a double “So be it!”

Early Christians were epistles “known and read by everyone” (2 Cor 3:2, ISV). What says the Epistle by You?

“My ears You have opened.” That the King of kings should thus come to be the Servant of servants!” 

No animal at the same time could be a sweet savor, and non-savor, offering. But Christ is all in all! 

When I trust the Lord, my blessed life becomes evidence to encourage many others to trust Him, too. 

Sometimes we settle for a band-aid solution in life instead of letting the Lord excise the whole problem.

What should we do when we have a build-up of bad feelings? Let it all out? Try to hold it in?

This desert world sucks us dry if we sink our roots in here. But “the river of God is full of water” (Ps 65:9).
