Following up Sunday's sermon on Genesis 1, Josh addresses the topic of how God created the universe as it relates to challenges by modern science.

Popular opinion is heavily divided. In the aftermath of the declared mistrial of Lindsay Clancy, people are apt to proclaim her innocence or the condemnation as a monster. But where should we as Christians find ourselves in the midst of this court of public opinion? What does the Word of God speak into this situation? And how can the Church be the body of Christ in response to the world's responses? This week, we discuss how to love sinners and call everyone to the hope found only in Jesus Christ.

Too often in American Evangelicalism we treat the church as another commodity to be shopped for. We look for the church that fits my desires and then leave if it no longer serves me how I want it to. But the church isn't for you, at least not in the sense that we have made it to be. We are sinners in need of spiritual nourishment, so let's remind ourselves that the Church is Christ's!

In this second part to answering why I am catholic, I look at the development of theology in the Church with particular attention on the development of the Roman Catholic Church as we see it today in comparison to the vision of catholicity seen within the apostolic catholic faith throughout Church history.

The Reformers never viewed themselves as departing from the Catholic faith, but they were attempting to return to the Catholic Faith seen in the Church Fathers, the Ecumenical Councils, and under the authority of Scripture. This past week the Evangelical Presbyterian Church held their 46th General Assembly, and things got tense. Many churches joined the EPC from the PCUSA in order to retreat from affirming theology in regards to homosexuality and ordination. Should men who experience same sex attraction be eligible for ordination? Or should there be a blanket barring of those who experience same sex attraction from ordained ministry and leadership in the church? That is what we will discuss today along with other issues discussed at General Assembly.
