The Sydney Muslim Book Club's third session sat to discuss Toni Morrison's powerful book #Beloved. An incredible tale of love, life, and survival when slavery is the background to the story.

Mohamad Tabbaa is a PhD candidate in Law and Criminology at the University of Melbourne. He currently researches issues of discrimination against Muslim minority groups in the West – particularly in Australia. We will discuss the meanings, explicit and implicit of the terms Human and Rights in today's reality, and how that affects us in Australia and the world today.

Yassir Mursi is a Melbourne based Academic. He lectures at Melbourne University and has just submitted his PhD thesis on race relations. We discuss the Muslim condition with Yassir and try to understand the different issues and concepts surrounding this topic.

Amal Awad is an Australian Palestinian Muslim writer. She self published her muslim chiclit novel "Courting Samira". The story of a young Muslim woman finding love in Sydney in the traditional way. We interview her about the book, the islamic feminine identity, and the difficulties of publishing.

The Contextualising Australian Muslims Summit 2012 will provide the platform for discussions to occur about issues that affect the Australian Muslim community and begin conversations about viable and realistic solutions to these concerns. We speak to Sabrine Khodre, one of the organizers, about this great initiative and what it means for the future of Australian Muslims.
