The Bible Outlaw

When millions are declaring a No Kings moment in history -- I'll stand and proudly declare a 'King Jesus is all' eternity. Of course nobody wants a bad king but this is all leading somewhere; to a heavenly kingdom with the Son of God as our most trusted leader. So lets run through the Bible and the Disney kingdom to see how we all got here and where the fun really begins --- and ends. 

Does the Bible really boast that the Christian God is not able to change His mind? Ever? In any situation? It appears that the Bible translaters have very much written themselves into a corner. But the Bible Outlaw is here to come out fighting. Let's see if the atheists indeed found a contradiction or if the Bible is anything other than trixie or false. 

I'm pretty sure the entire planet has heard about Ozzy Osbourne. He's that infamous rock musician who bit the head off a bat and was said to have worshiped the devil. But what does the Bible have to say about celebrities like that. Yes he had a lot of religious imagery in his music and often said "God Bless You All" but what is his final resting place? Let's explore his life.

Well, if you leave humans unattended for a few weeks - we'll attempt to build an extremely faulty tower to the heavens. And if we're lucky, all God will do is laugh at us... or change our language. So It's time we learned what happened and why - and how quickly mankind is currently doing it again. Enjoy!

It's time for a Gospel Music album review. Seldom does a great Outlaw Gospel album come out that's worthy of a Bible Outlaw podcast: but this one is exceptional of course. Let's look and listen for hardcore theology and musicianship from Anne's 2nd major release. I hope you love it like I do. Enjoy - and buy it for someone for Christmas.

Yes indeed, God Bless us rebellious theologians who dare dig for truth at all costs. Oh Yeah! There's some street credibility in being the most Outlaw thinker in the room (or church).  So If God has blessed you with this desire and career/hobby path - then HANG ON --- it might get bumpy. But the truth of God's Word is worth it. Jesus needs a few of us so that Christianity doesn't get too comfortable. This week on the Bible Outlaw

Here's every verse in the Bible that tells us about the Outlaw Joseph - enough to make him the official Christmas Outlaw. It was basically the Wild West of the middle east circa A.D. 01..  Just a Cowboy protecting his wife and son from surrounding evil.Enjoy! and Merry Christmas.

Few discuss it - but there was indeed a war in heaven. The Book of Revelation has a chapter about it... well, it mentions it briefly in chapter 12 anyway. So let's see what the rest of the bible has to say about this cosmic battlefied and the characters involved. What does this mean for us humans?

Well, I had to do a rapture podcast eventually. It's a rather enjoyable subject with more than a few Bible verses to keep it deeply theological. And of course I'll spill in some Pop-culture references and prophecies to boot. Hang on - the END might be near.

What should we do with that old (VERY OLD) commandment to rest/worship? on the Sabbath? Did the church somehow get confused over the centuries and make an error in switching worship from Saturday to Sunday? Or worse - will God still kill us for this (like he did to "stick collecting guy")? I did some research. A LOT of research. Enjoy.

So why would an outlaw become a Christian? Because even outlaws have a code and need something to make sense of their reality. A lawless existence would be meaningless and its universe wouldn't be worth living in. The Bible has a lot to say about this - and the Biblical God gave us the 10 commandments to deal with specifically this issue. Then the Thief on the Cross brought it all home. Enjoy!

Time to study John's 2nd letter to the Elect lady, or is that the church? Or perhaps a mistress? or just some special lady and her tots. We'll study this short letter and see what we can learn and figure out. God certainly thought it was special enough to be preserved through the ages. Enjoy.

The Book of life is mentioned more than a few times throughout the Old and New Testament. Can you be blotted out of it - or inked into it? Well, God has a few things to hint at about this strange collection and its contents.  Let's explore every single passage that the Bible mentions about it -  and see if it's as big and scary as the Harry Potter "Monster Book of Monsters".

It's 2023, time to achieve some new goals - like switching from Itunes to Amazon Music (small victories). But i'm also looking for a new church for my family, and the Apostle John made a list of church challenges in his Book of Revelation. So let's use it to see what I should look for while church shopping. Hint: Lukewarm churches are a bad idea.

Have you heard of that peculiar moment in the Gospel of Mark (during Jesus' arrest in the garden of Gethsemane) where a young man escapes from the angry mob and leaves all his clothes behind? Thomas "The Disciple" spent three years with Jesus, and he saw it all.  There was no reason for him to doubt anything about Jesus - and yet he did. We haven't spent three years with Jesus - and yet we are called "blessed" for believing without seeing. God has given us faith and logic to overcome doubt. There's no reason to believe anything else.

Let's fully learn about the book/letter of James. It's all about having faith and acting on it. Unlike the demons, we are to tame that tongue and not act worldly. We've got better things to do - instructions sent directly from God. Here's some new testament wisdom for living like a 21st century Christian or Jew.

Let's look back at my book review of Avi Steinberg's The Lost Book Of Mormon. It’s a hilarious travelogue that deserves to be discussed - because anytime an author writes a religious/comedy offering, it's worthy of a Bible Outlaw critique. From this we can learn about Avi's time spent tracing the pilgrimage of historical Mormon characters from the middle east to north america - and we might just step in some stinky theology along the way. Be sure to wash your feet afterwords. 

A few years ago, the Mars Hill Church in Seattle Washington imploded from within. The Christian world quickly blamed the pastor for being a bully. That was a huge part of it, but the entire church should have held him accountable for his actions - before it was too late. Let's have a quick look at what happened, and see if we can learn anything for ourselves. We'll also check in on some biblical wisdom from Moses, Jethro and Paul that should help guide our churches.

Here's my introduction to the dusty, dangerous world you are about to enter. If something or somebody mentions the Bible - I plan to deal with it.  There's no going back now, so buckle up!

Every day I come across internet media that informs me of what specifically is wrong with my  Christianity. But what's really wrong is that very few seem capable of properly defining this "Christianity" that they're evaluating. So let's see what exactly IT IS - and explore if it's really broken or faulty in any way. And we'll compare it to fast cars and sports,  just to see if folks are being fair. 

The world has gone insane over the right to murder infants in the womb. Does the Bible have much to say on this issue?  Hell yes! And so does the toughest female missionary who ever lived: Amy Carmichael. 

So what do we instantly recall about the minor prophet Joel and his short "3 chapter" book? Be honest... almost nothing. Some might know that the Apostle Peter quoted him and got charismatics all excited for 2,000 years. But Joel's point is really that a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, is about to come for the people God doesn't tolerate. There's lots to learn about this theme that runs through much of the Bible. 

Once every few years a rather great Gospel album actually gets made. Do not miss this one - it really is that good. So here's my Bible Outlaw appreciation and review of Anne Wilson's MY JESUS.  Probably won't be another one till Jesus comes back (or Anne hires me to play guitar and we make a live album at the Royal Albert Hall... let's not get ahead of ourselves). Just in case, "Anne, here's my phone number: it's 1-604...." 

Remember back in March of 1997, when 39 hardcore religious/Star Trek fans did their darnedest to catch up with a spaceship travelling on the tail of the Hale-Bopp comet by killing themselves to get to the celestial heavenly kingdom? Well, incase you missed it - here's everything you need to know and even how the Bible was lightly involved in this mayhem.Hang on for a ride through the cosmos... ummmh, that never quite happened. As far as we know. 

Here's another religious book that I reviewed, "Jim and Casper Go to Church".  A somewhat liberal-progressive church expert drags an atheist to a few famous churches and we get to read about it. Fun stuff eh? So what did they learn --- and what do I think of their conclusions? Well, you can probably guess already. Enjoy!

Someone wrote a book called, "the Gospel according to the Beatles". Well, pretty much zero biblical christianity was buried in that rubbish - but Alice Cooper (the villain of Rock and Roll) actually has more biblical gospel than most realize. Since i've been a huge fan of Alice for almost 40 years, let's spend an episode discussing any value or merit this debaucherous rockstar might possess. Some of it might surprise you. 

Let's fully read Paul's last written letter - written in AD 67. Is there enough there to keep Christians from joining cults and following false prophets? It appears so.  It's personal and brutally theological all at the same time. Good-bye Paul - God speed, good soldier. I'll see you in heaven. 

Does God not know all the crazy human insanities happening on the planet? Isn't He paying attention? Oh yeah! He gave us a 1,000 page book all about it - nothing new under the sun. Maybe we should turn to it before, during, and after "we humans" make a colossal mess of everything. Nah. We'll just assume we're the good guys and everyone else is bad. We'll pray for peace and save the day.But Jeremiah had some dangerous writings about this in the Old Testament. Let's have a look.

Well, it's time to discuss covid and politics and me being a Canadian truck driver AND Nascar. Yes!~ I'm posting this on the Daytona 500 weekend (don't tell me who won - i'm not done watching it yet)Let's deal with Kings throughout the entire Bible. From Adam & Eve to King Jesus to the Anti-christ ruling from Babylon. What are these power-mad monarchies up to exactly --- and how does it affect us today. 

So what is this Christmas holiday really about? Well, it's the Dear Lord baby Jesus bit of the Bible. So let's read the Christmas story - and once again be thankful for all the Outlaws that made the story happen, you know: like the Wise Men and Shepherds, and Joseph and Mary,  getting the job done. God used these amazing people for His own glory. What an honor. Merry Christmas indeed.

You've probably heard many people say that the Bible is confusing, or even "as clear as mud". But is it? Can so many millions of people be confused by words on a page? Is this the reason we have 30,000 Christian denominations and differing comprehensions of the Bible and God's commands? No! the problem - as usual - is us. Let's explore it.

Let's have a look at what passes for failed christianity in the eyes of the youtube hero "the genetically modified atheist".  He's certainly has a huge success, and impact, with his almost 700,000 views per "atheist" video - but is he actually a skeptic? Does his atheist claims have merit? Is his new atheist community really any different from the oppressive independant "christian fundamental" cult he left? To be fair: it would take months to deeply explore this - but let's have a quick look and see what immediately rises to the top. 

Everyone seems to have an opinion on heaven. But we don't care for opinions - what's the Bible say specifically. That is what matters. I rounded up every verse in the Bible that deals with heaven and I picked the most essential ones to tie it all together. Now let's learn about your future home and eternity - and how many pets you can bring.

Here's a book review I did of an amusing atheist book: Why There Is No God: Simple Responses to 20 Common Arguments for the Existence of Godby Armin NavabiNO harm in reading this stuff and seeing what profound questions they might ask --- or lazy attacks they thrust forth.  But it's a fine reason to brush up on my apologetics and theological skills.  I almost felt sorry for the author: he assumed all religions were equal and are afraid to be questioned. Hey, this Bible loving Christian LOVES questions. And laughingly, these were easy ones.  This will save you from having to actually read the book. Enjoy~

There's over a 100 verses in the Bible about music and instruments. And yet the Church seems to have gotten music wrong for 2000 years. Let's find out why and how. Did Jesus mess with music? Did Paul? Maybe Daniel or Moses? Who made the 1st instrument and will instruments be used in heaven? And worst of all - did scholars and translators confuse instruments throughout scripture?  (I remixed the song at the end... check it out)

Since you all appear to be listening to Christian podcasts --- I'll fill you in on the current state of things, and why my Christian podcast is hopefully worth listening to and mucho entertaining! You'll learn about some of my favorites and a few that I hate, and how they SHOULD be all about Jesus.

As much as we appreciate Chuck Norris for all the bad guys he's stopped - God was already sending brainless muscle-heads to protect His people over 3,000 years ago.  And yes, they had the same problem with sexy women and weapons that our modern defender Chuck has.But there's more to the story than that - even a guest appearance by Jesus...possibly. Let's read it slowly.  You might learn some things you missed before.

Those silly atheists are at it again: they found a Bible verse that just might have Jesus begging and demanding unity amongst his church goers --- but since it doesn't appear to happen elsewhere in scripture, is this a contradiction? Let's rip into it and find out. Don't worry - it ends well.

The Apostle Paul's small letter to his buddy Philemon deals with some major issues like Christian responsibility and even slavery - and so does my favourite movie of all time "The Equalizer".  YES! This book actually shut down slavery as the world knows it --- it's just that very few people paid attention. But it's never too late to "do the right thing".

One of my favourite Bible characters has always been the thief on the cross immediately beside Jesus (the good thief, not the other guy...). Here's a podcast that might have you thinking a bit deeper about his moment of eternal street cred. Yep! For all of eternity he will be able to claim a special place that no other can boast of: being on the physical cross with Jesus. So what can we learn from him? More than most can imagine --- he did everything right in his last few moments of humanity. He went out in style - and he's a hero "used by God" to me today.

Many people quickly read past the mention of a flaming sword obscuring the path to the tree of life and the garden of Eden. But it may be more cool than we know. It tells us a fair bit about God and theology and angels and demons -- yes, just when you thought the Bible was possibly getting boring... along comes the angel Uriel and his pitiless saber (not to mention flaming chariots and bursts of fire from heaven above. Oh? I just did.) Can I borrow that for my son's birthday party? 

Have you met people who attempt to read the Bible but just can't make sense of it? Or worse - they spend their life being confused by stories you learned in sunday school as a child? Yep, God's book is rather magical and only God's children can have it speak to them. But nobody knows until they open its pages and read... It's not Harry Potter's sorting hat: but it's close. 

So what do you do when those kind, young mormon boys or girls come to your front door? Quickly show them all the spiritual options they're failing to mention, and then, demand they explain why theirs is the Best or Truest of all. What's this got to do with Dracula and Van Helsing you ask? Well, nasty monster-fighters and demonic villains have to deal with spiritual truth and choice too. My job is to make it fun. Enjoy!
