In this episode of The Brazen Maven Society, Gabriela and Sasha sit down with MaryAnn Lentini, a veteran social worker and life care manager with over 45 years of experience supporting families through serious illness and end-of-life care. MaryAnn demystifies hospice and palliative care, explains what services are actually available (often at no cost through Medicare), and shares how these programs support not only patients, but also overwhelmed caregivers and families. Ep.1 - Welcome to The Brazen Maven Society!
Welcome to The Brazen Maven Society, a podcast for women and men navigating the bold, beautiful, complicated decades after 50. If you’ve ever felt like this stage of life is supposed to be quieter, smaller, or somehow less important… we’re here to say the opposite. This is the era where wisdom meets freedom, where experience finally has a voice, and where the rules get rewritten. Hosted by Gabriela Brown and Sasha Travassos, The Brazen Maven Society explores the real conversations people over 50 are having—but rarely hear out loud. We talk about aging, relationships, health, family dynamics, grief, reinvention, finances, beauty, retirement, and the strange and wonderful process of becoming fully ourselves. Some episodes will bring in experts—doctors, financial advisors, therapists, and industry leaders—to help us navigate the practical side of life. Other episodes will simply be two friends talking honestly about the things we’re all going through but don’t always say. Expect insight, humor, a little irreverence, and a lot of truth. Because getting older isn’t the end of the story. In many ways, it’s where the real one begins. In this, our first episode: Gabriela and Sasha introduce their podcast, "Brazen Mavens," focused on life over 50. Gabriela shares her personal journey of reconnecting with her mother before her passing and the importance of open discussions about aging. Sasha, with a background in finance and senior care, emphasizes the need for better understanding and support for seniors. They discuss their shared experiences in blended families and senior care, aiming to demystify aging and provide valuable insights. The podcast will feature raw, uncut conversations, with future episodes including expert guests and structured discussions on various topics relevant to their audience.

Ep2. Dad's Passing
Welcome back to The Brazen Maven Society — conversations about life after 50 with insight, humor, and sometimes a little irreverence… because this stage of life deserves honesty. You may have noticed that it’s been about four months since our first episode. When we recorded that one, we had every intention of jumping right into the next. But life had other plans. Not long after we launched the podcast, my father passed away, and like many of you who have experienced the loss of a parent, I discovered that grief has its own rhythm. There are things you think you’ll be ready to talk about… until suddenly you realize you’re not. So we took some time. Time to process, time to sit with it, and honestly, time to understand what this loss meant — not just as a daughter, but as someone who is now fully in that stage of life where many of us find ourselves saying goodbye to the people who raised us. Today’s episode is about that experience. We’re going to talk about what it’s like when a parent passes, how it changes you, the strange quiet that follows, and some of the unexpected emotions that come with it. If you’ve already been through it, you may recognize a lot of what we’re talking about. And if you haven’t yet, this may help you understand a little more about what that moment in life can feel like. So thank you for being here with us, and welcome back to The Brazen Maven Society!
