The Caring Advisor

Welcome to "The Caring Advisor", I'm so glad you're here! I'm Elizabeth Brickman, "The Caring Advisor"! This podcast is for those who long to experience financial happiness God's way. I'm a former finance professional, credentialed in biblical finance. Ten years ago, I left private practice to write books, because I want all of us, not just those who sat at my desk, to develop an increasingly wonderful and holy relationship with money. We will talk about how to resist financial headwinds that come against us, how to make wise decisions, and how to avoid accidental poverty. I'll share stories about my financial faith heroes, clients who humbled me, inspired me, and taught me. These are everyday men and women just like you who got it right. And they serve as models for all of us about who we can be and how we can financially grow in Christ. Don't miss an episode, subscribe on your favorite podcast platform, so you'll be notified immediately when a new episode airs. And I do hope you w

    113. The Holiness of Receiving, with guest Lori Hatcher

What lies on the other side of generosity? We often talk about the blessing of giving—but what happens when God asks us to set aside our pride and simply receive? In today’s episode, award-winning author Lori Hatcher shares the remarkable story of a financial gift she never expected—and how she later discovered that the gift was part of God’s advance plan for a very special purpose.Sometimes God provides through our own work and resources. And sometimes He provides through the open hand of someone else. But receiving well can require its own kind of humility, trust, and faith.Join Lori and me for a beautiful conversation about the holiness of both giving and receiving—and the faithfulness of a God who often knows what we will need long before we do.Be sure to check out Lori’s latest book, Walking in Faith: 60 Devotions to Renew Your Strength, and learn more about Lori at lorihatcher.com.And while you’re shopping, be sure to check out my books, Wealth Blessed and Wealth Confident, created to help you manage godly wealth with joyful stewardship and holy purpose.I also have two new books coming soon to support your financial journey. 112. Summer Rest for Your Finances

During these last weeks of summer, don't you wish your financial responsibilities would take a vacation? And give your troubled mind a break? 111. Authenticity: The Money-Making Potential of Being Yourself (Part II)

Which would be a more profitable pursuit? Conforming to others? Or just being your unique self? This episode will help you find the courage and make the commitment to be who God wired you to be. Never compare yourself to others or try to imitate the most popular or successful person in your occupation. Why try to fit in if God has wired you to stand out?Psalm 139 reminds us that God is our creator. He created us—and wired each of us —according to His custom plan, for His custom purpose.Your best life—spiritually, financially, socially, professionally, emotionally—will come from being yourself, ever alert and always ready to love and serve those He places along your path.Additional Resources: Wealth BlessedWealth ConfidentElizabeth Brickman WebpageMore from the pen of Elizabeth Brickman

    110. Authenticity: The End Of Pretend (Part I)

We all tend to want to fit in. But God has designed you to stand out. The body of Christ, just like the human body, has many components. (1 Corinthians 12:14-27). Each of us is God’s custom design. (Psalm 139:13-16). The Lord’s purposes are served when we are natural, authentic, and true to Him and to ourselves. When it comes to growing your success, authenticity will not limit you. Rather, it will keep the marketplace from diluting you. Even if you are a franchisee, your authentic style and personality are your secret advantage. Your competition may duplicate your product, process, and procedures—but the one thing they can never duplicate is… you. This episode will help you have the courage to be who God made you to be and discover the power of authenticity. If you’d like to explore this topic further, turn to Chapter 3 of my book, Wealth Confident: 7 Powerful Principles of Godly Success.Additional Resources: Wealth BlessedWealth ConfidentElizabeth Brickman WebpageMore from the pen of Elizabeth Brickman

    109. Who Told You Who You Are?

This episode begins our Wealth Confident series. In this opening episode, Elizabeth Brickman explores one of the most important questions we will ever answer: Whose voice has shaped our identity?Long before success strategies, business plans, or financial goals, there is identity. The way we see ourselves shapes the opportunities we pursue, the risks we take, the dreams we allow ourselves, and the life we ultimately build.Psalm 139 reminds us that we are intentionally created by God—fearfully and wonderfully made. Yet many of us continue to live below the level of confidence, courage, and purpose God intended because we have accepted labels He never gave us.In this episode, Elizabeth discusses:• Why identity always comes before strategy.• How false beliefs quietly limit success.• Why childhood circumstances and painful experiences do not determine your future.• The importance of replacing old soundtracks with God's truth.• How seeing yourself as God sees you unlocks courage, creativity, and confidence.Success is not reserved for those born with advantages. It belongs to those who align themselves with truth.Scriptures ReferencedPsalm 139:13–16Ephesians 2:10John 10:10Proverbs 3:2Thank you for listening to The Caring Advisor Podcast. If you’d like information about Elizabeth’s two upcoming books, sign up on her website, ElizabethBrickman.com, for advance notice of their release, along with pre-order discounts offered from her publisher, End Game Press, as soon as available. If today's episode has encouraged you, please subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review.Wealth BlessedWealth Confident

    108. "What Your Mother Taught You About Money—and What to Do Now"

What you learned about money didn’t start with a spreadsheet—it started at home. Before Mother’s Day, take a fresh look at what shaped you… and what needs to change.A personal message from Elizabeth…If you listen to one podcast before Mother’s Day, may it be this one. Here is my single favorite episode of all #107 episodes across three seasons of The Caring Advisor Podcast.Originally titled “Our Mommy, Our Money,” this episode is deeply personal to me—and I hope it will be deeply impactful to you. I want to help you rethink her influence on your financial life—and realign what matters most. Whether your relationship with your mother is beautiful, strained, distant, or complicated…whether she lives in Heaven or right next door…This episode will meet you—with grace, God’s truth, and a way forward. This may be your moment to close a gap…to heal a hurt…and to put God at the center of your relationship with her.Since I first recorded “Our Mommy, Our Money” on May 3, 2023, we’ve improved the quality of our audio. But there’s no way to improve the depth, honesty, and spiritual weight of what was spoken that day. I hope you receive it. Let me know what it means to you.My prayer is that it shatters any spiritual hindrance holding back your finances. May it free up, brighten, and transform your future.Wealth Confident: 7 Powerful Principles of Godly SuccessBuild a biblical foundation for how you think about money, identity, and purpose. Wealth by Design …. Emotions are often the hidden force behind financial stress.Master them—and everything else begins to change.Whether you feel secure… or stretched thin…your emotions can quietly take control of your financial decisions. In this episode, Elizabeth Brickman shares practical and biblical wisdom for managing theemotional turbulence that money can create. Drawing from 25 years as a financial advisor, sheexplains why financial distress is often caused less by the numbers themselves and more by theemotional reactions surrounding them.In This Episode• Why money triggers powerful emotional reactions• How emotional surges can lead to poor financial decisions• Why your identity must never be tied to financial outcomes• How regret can quietly trap people in financial paralysis• The biblical approach to overcoming financial fear• Why gratitude stabilizes both your heart and your decisionsWhen emotions are wisely managed, money becomes a tool instead of a tyrant — and financialdecisions become calmer, clearer, and more faithful. The goal is not to eliminate emotions. The goal is to lead them wisely. And with God’s help, you absolutely can.Key Scriptures ReferencedProverbs 14:29Ecclesiastes 7:9James 1:19–20Luke 12:15Psalm 139:13–14Romans 8:15–161 John 3:1Philippians 3:13–141 John 1:9Psalm 103:12Proverbs 4:23Psalm 112:72 Corinthians 10:5Isaiah 41:102 Timothy 1:7Joshua 1:91 Thessalonians 5:16–18Psalm 118:24Psalm 90:12Additional ResourcesTo learn more on what it looks like to live wealth blessed, take a look at the first two issues of Elizabeth's four part book series: Wealth Blessed and Wealth Confident. Consider following us wherever you listen to your podcasts so you never miss an episode! Can't get enough? ABOUT THIS SHOW
