KMOX traffic reporter Rodger Brand joins Chris and Amy following a deadly helicopter crash in Los Angeles; Joe Buck is doing well and got a new contract with ESPN; Cardinals radio voice John Rooney joins from the ballpark ahead of a day game vs the Giants; Meidas Touch's Scott MacFarlane with the scoop from Washington, DC; Gen Z's dream jobs are all 'traditional' ones in a new poll.

Scott MacFarlane says Republicans are, 'trying to avoid a vote on impeaching Pete Hegseth.' and have adjourned Congress for the week and returned to their districts. He also reports on a Senate hearing with Kash Patel that delved into sexual abuse of animals. 'Mitch McConnell can't walk,' says MacFarlane of the longtime Senator's return to the chamber, pointing out that we're 'not going to give us any access to him,' from his handlers. 'Its a hot mess, a July in St Louis hot,' says MacFarlane of the push from Pres Trump's attempts to close and rename the Kennedy Center.

'You think about it [crashing] every time you go up,' Rodger Brand tells Chris and Amy about his role as an airborne traffic reporter for KMOX Radio. Brand was reacting to the apparent engine failure and deadly crash of a TV News helicopter in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening which claimed the lives of pilot George Marciniw & reporter Eliana Moreno. 'It sounds like the engine just completely just shut down,' he says, sharing a story about losing fuel pressure and landing, 'in the infield of a little league ball field.' Brand has reported traffic and news for KMOX from both a helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft.

Miranda Nazzaro, Senior Technology Reporter for The Hill, covers AI and joins Chris and Amy. She looks at the response to recent AI executives' warnings about AI development.

Chris has returned, and so has the heat. Balloons return to Forest Park this weekend to race. Financial planner Dave Simons and KMOV sports reporter Tamar Shar highlight the 2nd hour. Last night Alderwoman Sharon Tyus appeared to threaten Alderman Rahseen Aldridge, he joins to start the 3rd hour to respond and former Mo State Sen Jeff Smith laments the budget cuts to a successful jobs program for formerly incarcerated.

St Louis Alderman Rasheen Aldridge joins Chris and Amy to start the hour and respond to perceived threats from Alderwoman Sharon Tyus; Amy shares a story about raw sewage pouring into St Louis County offices; former MO State Senator is working to get funding restored for a successful program that helped former inmates.

Former Missouri State Senator and Director of the Missouri Workforce Housing Association, Jeff Smith joins Chris and Amy. He's concerned with budget cuts to the Transformative Workforce Academy in Missouri (TWA) which helps people when they leave jail connect to a job. Missouri lawmakers had funding in the budget, but Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe's line-item veto was the result. The Department of Corrections had been in the process of expanding the program across the state. 'It's very penny-wise and pound foolish,' to cut a helpful program, says Smith.

St Louis Alderman (Ward 14) Rasheen Aldridge joins Chris and Amy live following comments from fellow St Louis City (Ward 12) Alderwoman Sharon Tyus. 'The hatred rhetoric,' from Tyus 'I'm used to that,' says Aldridge. He says her anger at him stems from his new legislation regarding the Homer G. Phillips hospital. He says, 'a public apology could go a long way.'

Chris and Amy are joined by financial planner Dave Simons who predicts a rate hike from the Federal Reserve this week; listeners question if the show is on in the midday or not; KMOV's Tamar Sher covers the Cardinals and Mizzou; what happens if the show ranks 1st in the market?

Tamar Sher, sports reporter and anchor at KMOV, joins Chris & Amy today. They chat about the Cardinals season, including the 'Tarps Off' movement and Jordan Walker's Home Run Derby win. 'The little wins are what the Cardinals are focusing on right now,' says Sher. She comments on the players listening to Yadier Molina's Cardinals Hall of Fame speech this weekend.

One Private Wealth Partner & Managing Director Dave Simons joins Chris and Amy ahead of a highly-anticipated Federal reserve announcement this week. How should Americans react to the AI leadership concerns over the dangers of what they created? 'Spend all of your money now?' jokes Simons. He says he's concerned over the speed of the development though and possible government regulations.

Chris returns to the studio for today's show, and he's upset about the heat; Alderwoman Sharon Tyus was caught on tape appearing to threaten Ald Rasheen Aldridge; Jessica Stegen joins from the Great Forest Park Balloon Race; Did you see this? Emmy Awards recap.

'If we could turn back time it would be called the Great Forest Park Balloon CHASE,' jokes Jessica Stegen, Director of the race with Chris and Amy. The 'race' returns this weekend in the traditional 'hare and hound' format where one balloon takes off and places a target for the hound balloons to drop a bag of bird seed on. The flight window begins at 430pm on Saturday. The Balloon 'glow' is Friday evening. 'It truly is a family tradition,' says Stegen.

John Hancock joins Amy for the entire show with Chris out today. Conversations in the 1st hour include Cardinals ceremonies, street takeovers, Kehoe polling and the 'Golden Girls.' Joel Bittle joins in the 2nd hour with his book on craft beer in St Loiuis; and Matt Pauley on the Cardinals weekend. The final hour includes NY Times columnist David French and The Bulwark's Andrew Egger.

White House Correspondent Andrew Egger from The Bulwark, joins Amy and John Hancock. They look back on the Republican mid-term convention last week, and the tepid response to Pres Trump's $5K pledge if Republicans get re-elected, 'the party is not putting much money behind this,' for ads. New ProPublica reporting that a Russian Oligarch with direct ties to Vladimir Putin paid for Donald Trump Jr's recent wedding. 'I don't have a whole Rolodex of Russian Oligarchs,' jokes Egger.

New York Times columnist David French focused on the Missouri redistricting battle in his latest column and joins Amy and John Hancock to explain. Missouri's Secretary of State used, 'a lot of apparently bad faith legal maneuvering,' in order to utilize mid-census maps for the primary election in August, maps that the legislature had drawn up in 2025 in order to eliminate a House seat long controlled by Democrats. Cindy McGinty is a 9/11 Day Ambassador who lost her husband in the 9/11 attacks. 'In some ways it's personally worse for me,' she says as time has passed since her husband's death, noting that he 'missed all those milestones,' of his children growing up. 'You just can't avoid it,' says McGinty of the coverage of 9/11 on this 25th anniversary of the attacks.

Cheri Preston had been with ABC News just 6 months prior to the 9/11 attacks. She witnessed the collapse of the World Trade Center from the rooftop of her apartment in Hoboken, NJ, across the Hudson river from Manhattan. She shares the story of going into Manhattan the evening of September 11 on lonely train from New Jersey. 'It was very deserted, there was no one out,' Preston says of the streets of New York.

They're joined by Matt Pauley who discusses the lost series by the Cardinals; Amy looks back on her memories from 9/11 'my sister said, hey, we need to turn on the tv.'; CBS's Major Garrett joins from Washington, DC with reaction to the Supreme Court's ruling on the Missouri congressional maps; and Did you see this? a blind driver in Ireland.

'Missouri Supreme Court is the governing body,' says CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett. He's referencing Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's ruling today, that the state should use the 2022 census-defined congressional maps in the upcoming election. He says that the mid-term GOP convention, 'generates attention,' and the media has to cover it. Major also spent time with former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card, who informed Pres George W. Bush about the 9/11 attacks.

St Louis Mayor Cara Spencer joins Chris and Amy. They open the conversation talking roller coasters and trash collection before turning to police pay. 'We've got to offer compensation that matches the region,' says Spencer, 'even maybe more generous.' Spencer says her plan would, 'shift it [compensation] into the front end of their careers.' She already points out the parity issue between police and fire department in the city.
