Examining Bethel | When Power Shapes the Anointing

There are few words in modern charismatic Christianity more familiar than the anointing. We speak of seeking it, carrying it, protecting it, increasing it, and even imparting it. But what does Scripture actually teach? Has our understanding of the anointing been shaped more by the Bible, or by modern revival culture? In this episode of the Bold Apologia Podcast, we continue our careful examination of Bill Johnson’s When Heaven Invades Earth by exploring one of its most influential themes. Join us as we compare Scripture with contemporary teaching and ask whether our pursuit of power has reshaped our understanding of the anointing. As always, our aim is not controversy for controversy’s sake, but a deeper love for Christ and a greater commitment to the truth of God’s Word.#BoldApologia #BethelDoctrineSeries #BillJohnson #WhenHeavenInvadesEarth #BiblicalTheology #Discernment #Apologetics #ChristianPodcast #HolySpirit #Anointing #ScriptureAlone

#94 - Is Being Holy Good or Bad For Evangelism? I Dare to Be Different So You Can Make a Difference (Part 1)

What does it really mean for Christians to be different? Is holiness a barrier to evangelism—or is it one of the greatest tools God uses to draw people to Himself? In this episode of Gospel Talks, George Binoka and Jeff Musgrave explore the biblical call to live as "sojourners and exiles" (1 Peter 2:11-12). They discuss why genuine Christlikeness—not legalism or trying to be "weird"—is what makes the gospel compelling. Together they examine the difference between outward behavior modification and inward heart transformation, how believers can engage culture without compromising biblical convictions, and why holiness is essential for effective relational evangelism. You'll also hear practical warnings about the subtle ways Christians blend into culture through entertainment, alcohol, immorality, and unchecked attitudes, along with encouragement to let Christ live His life through us.If you've ever wondered how to faithfully reach unbelievers without becoming like the world, this conversation is for you—and it's only Part 1.

Why Did God Give the Ten Commandments? Understanding Grace, Law, and Biblical Freedom

Many people think of the Ten Commandments as a list of rules to follow, but what if we've been missing the bigger picture? In this first episode of our new series, we don't begin with "You shall not..."—we begin with who God is and why He gave the Law in the first place. Before God ever commanded Israel to obey, He first reminded them that He had already rescued them from slavery. That order changes everything.Join us as we explore the historical context of Exodus 20, the purpose of the Law, and how the Ten Commandments reveal God's character rather than simply His authority. We discuss legalism, grace, freedom, the culture of ancient Egypt, and why obedience has always been a response to God's redemption—not a way to earn it.Clarity in chaos. The Book of Mormon: Part 39 (3 Nephi chapters 19-30)

This episode is part 39 in a series going through the story of the Book of Mormon. This episode covers chapters 19-30 of the book of 3 Nephi. The Mormon Jesus teaches his disciples more about prayer. He prays away from them, with them, and at them, and they all glow bright white. The Mormon Jesus also gives more prophecy about the end times, the revealing of the Book of Mormon, and the regathering of Israel and the descendants of Lehi. He gave them Isaiah chapters 52 and 54 and Malachi chapters 3-4. Three of the twelve disciples get a special gift of immortality until the end. Supposedly they and the Apostle John are still out there somewhere walking among us, but harder to find even than Bigfoot.Further research:"Question: What is known about the name Greek name "Timothy" in the Book of Mormon?" Didaché - Jonathan Shuttlesworth's Shocking (And Disqualifying) Gutter Language

A man on X asked prosperity preacher Jonathan Shuttlesworth a simple question — "How's that private jet treating you?" — and Shuttlesworth publicly replied, "Not as well as your mom." A full day later it was still posted, unretracted. The man's answer? "Thanks, my mom's dead. What a great representation of Christ you are."Justin Peters takes that exchange straight to Scripture. He walks through Ephesians 4:29 and Ephesians 5:3-4, where Paul places filthiness and coarse jesting alongside actual sexual immorality — not as a lesser offence, but as evidence of a heart already given over to it. He then measures Shuttlesworth against the qualifications for an overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-4 and Titus 1, showing what "above reproach" and "husband of one wife" actually require of a man who calls himself pastor. From 2 Peter 2 and Jude, Peters lays out the two consistent marks of false teachers: greed and sensuality — hearts trained in greed, eyes full of adultery, exploiting people they do not love. Because false teachers are unregenerate, he argues, there is no indwelling Holy Spirit to restrain the flesh.Shuttlesworth is scheduled to preach at Kenneth Copeland's Southwest Believers Convention alongside Bill Johnson, Jesse Duplantis, Creflo Dollar and Benny Hinn. Justin closes with a direct gospel appeal to Shuttlesworth himself and a plain call to those following him: flee. This episode matters because God's standards for the pulpit are high, and Scripture tells us exactly how to recognise a wolf.➡️ Click here to find all of Justin’s essential links.

Understanding the Democrat Socialists of America

The discourse centers around the intricate interplay between personal belief systems and the theological underpinnings of various religious doctrines, particularly focusing on the criticisms directed at the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). The speakers engage in a profound examination of the cognitive dissonance that often accompanies religious adherence, noting how individuals adeptly discern fallacies within opposing faiths while remaining oblivious to similar inconsistencies within their own. A pivotal moment arises as the conversation pivots to the inherent human tendency towards confirmation bias, which can distort one's perception of truth, especially when it comes to deeply held beliefs. The dialogue further delves into the implications of original sin and the flawed notion of a utopian society devoid of personal accountability, challenging the audience to consider the realities of human nature in the context of societal constructs. This thought-provoking exchange ultimately invites listeners to reflect on the broader implications of their beliefs and the vital importance of rigorous intellectual scrutiny within their faith journeys.

Didaché - Satan Appears To Bobby Conner (And Why That Is A Big Problem For Bobby Conner)

Bobby Conner says he has seen Satan twice in 49 years of preaching — and that when the devil showed up, he came "winsome and handsome," a brilliant, stunningly beautiful figure who looked like a chiseled Spanish prince, offering all the kingdoms of the world if Conner would abandon his message of sonship.Justin Peters brings on his friend Jim Osman, author of Truth or Territory: A Biblical Approach to Spiritual Warfare, to work through the clip line by line. Together they ask the question the charismatic movement never asks: does Scripture anywhere lead a believer to expect a personal appearance from Satan? Osman shows that the New Testament gives no example, no instruction and no warning about such an encounter — and that the arrogance of claiming to be tempted exactly as Christ was in Matthew 4 is itself a mark of a false teacher. They handle 2 Corinthians 11:14 and the angel of light, Michael the archangel refusing to pronounce a railing accusation against Satan in Jude, and Peter's description of men with seared consciences who revile angelic authorities. Peters recounts Conner's other claims — speaking a squirrel into existence, fishing with Jesus, time-travelling to the crucifixion, God telling him to suck a hickey on a man's neck — and notes Bethel Church's embrace of him.The practical takeaway is blunt: Christians have no business talking to Satan at all.➡️ Click here to find all of Justin’s essential links.

Echo Chambers and Tribalism: The Pitfalls of Social Media in Christianity

Greg Moore and Andrew Rappaport dive into the intricate world of echo chambers and tribalism in the Christian community, highlighting the detrimental effects of social media on genuine discourse. They unpack the idea that many Christians tend to surround themselves exclusively with those who share their beliefs, which can lead to a dangerous lack of critical engagement and understanding. Andrew stresses the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone and engaging with differing perspectives, as he recounts his experiences at conferences where he often finds himself as the theological outlier. The conversation takes a humorous turn as they discuss the absurdity of some social media antics, showcasing how online behavior can skew perceptions of reality. Ultimately, they advocate for face-to-face discussions over coffee to foster real understanding and humility, asserting that genuine Christian fellowship is far more enriching than the echo chambers formed online.Takeaways:Andrew Rappaport and Greg Moore delve into the intricate issues of echo chambers and tribalism within Christianity, emphasizing the dangers of reinforcing our biases instead of engaging with differing viewpoints. They explore how social media exacerbates tribal behavior, noting that divisions often arise from a desire for clicks and online validation rather than genuine theological discourse. The conversation highlights the necessity of humility in Christian dialogue, stressing that true conviction should lead to grace rather than arrogance in our interactions with others.Andrew shares personal anecdotes about how friendships can flourish even amidst theological disagreements, advocating for the importance of face-to-face discussions over social media arguments.Greg and Andrew discuss how many Christians, while claiming to seek truth, often fall prey to the same tribalism they criticize in others, leading to a culture of superficial knowledge rather than deep understanding. The episode concludes with practical advice on avoiding tribalism, such as prioritizing in-person conversations and surrounding oneself with diverse theological perspectives to foster genuine growth.Mentioned in this episode:What do We Believe by Andrew Rappaport

Didaché - My Installation As Pastor of Grace & Truth Community Church

Phil Johnson, just weeks into retirement after 43 years alongside John MacArthur at Grace to You, stood up in a small Montana church and warned that some of the loudest voices claiming to do discernment ministry have disqualified themselves from eldership altogether. This episode is a recording of the installation service of Justin Peters as pastor of Grace and Truth Community Church, which meets at The Front Porch in Laurel, Montana. Peters opens with a few minutes on how a congregation of around 25 people came to prevail upon him to take the pastorate himself, then hands the pulpit to Johnson and Jim Osman.Johnson preaches 2 Timothy 2:14-26 on Paul's charge to guard the good deposit, laying out three duties: be an approved workman and guard your teaching, be a sanctified vessel and guard your heart, be a humble slave and guard your attitude. He works through Hymenaeus and Philetus — whose claim that the resurrection had already happened he compares to today's hyper-preterism — and shows why Paul names heretics plainly yet refuses to quarrel with them. False teaching from inside the visible church, Johnson insists, is a far greater threat than all the hostility outside it, and 1 Timothy 3:3's ban on the pugnacious man applies squarely to caustic online discernment podcasters.Osman then preaches Hebrews 13:17 on the congregation's duty to obey and submit to leaders who keep watch over their souls. It matters because guarding the truth without guarding your own heart and tone forfeits credibility in everything else you say.➡️ Click here to find all of Justin’s essential links.

#73 Christ Alone: Debating the Foundations of Eastern Orthodox Beliefs

Pastor Tony Costa joins host Phil Sessa to engage in a profound discourse regarding Eastern Orthodoxy, a tradition that asserts its identity as the one holy, catholic, and apostolic church established by Jesus Christ. Throughout our conversation, we delve into the historical roots and theological distinctions that set Eastern Orthodoxy apart from Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, particularly examining its rejection of papal authority and its adherence to ancient liturgical practices. We explore the implications of these beliefs on concepts such as salvation, original sin, and the veneration of icons. As we unpack these critical topics, we aim to encourage listeners to think critically about their faith and the tenets of various Christian traditions. Join us as we navigate this complex theological landscape and strive to understand the essence of Eastern Orthodoxy in the context of biblical Christianity.Takeaways:In this episode, we delve into the complexities of Eastern Orthodoxy, exploring its historical roots and theological distinctives in relation to other Christian traditions.Pastor Tony Costa elucidates the significance of the Great Schism of 1054, which marked the division between the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, shaping the theological landscape of Christianity. We examine the unique views of Eastern Orthodoxy regarding salvation, emphasizing their rejection of original sin and the implications this has on their understanding of the atonement. The discussion highlights the modern appeal of Eastern Orthodoxy to disillusioned evangelicals, particularly among young men seeking a more traditional and structured expression of faith.Pastor Costa contrasts the beliefs of Eastern Orthodoxy with those of Protestantism, particularly in areas such as the authority of scripture and the nature of grace, emphasizing the differences in understanding salvation and church authority.Throughout the podcast, we advocate for a return to biblical teaching and the importance of discernment in understanding the nuances of church history and doctrine.Links referenced in this episode:stopandthinkpodcast.comsoulfishingministries.orgchristoverall.comzondervan.com

This episode delves into the contentious yet vital subject of spiritual gifts, particularly the debate surrounding their cessation or continuation within the modern church context. The discussion is enriched by the diverse perspectives of the hosts and guests, who represent a spectrum of beliefs regarding the operation of such gifts today. Among the salient points addressed are the implications of 1 Corinthians 13 on the nature of prophecy, knowledge, and the prophetic gifts, as well as the theological ramifications of these interpretations. The speakers engage in a rigorous examination of scriptural texts, weighing the historical and contemporary applications of spiritual gifts against the backdrop of their theological convictions. Listeners will find valuable insights into how these discussions reflect broader issues within Christianity, as well as an invitation to reflect on their own beliefs regarding the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This engaging dialogue promises to challenge and deepen one's understanding of this critical aspect of faith.Takeaways:The podcast emphasizes the necessity of maintaining a respectful dialogue among Christians, even amidst theological disagreements.Cessationism posits that the apostolic sign gifts have ceased with the death of the apostles, which is a central point of contention in the discussion. The speakers argue that while God can perform miracles today, the gifts of healing and prophecy are not normative in the contemporary church. The concept of 'the perfect' in 1 Corinthians 13 is debated, with some asserting it refers to the completion of the biblical canon rather than the second coming of Christ.

Didaché - Bobby Conner Makes One Of The Most Blasphemous Claims I've Ever Heard

A man claims he once spoke a squirrel into existence in the East Texas woods. That man is Bobby Conner, and Justin Peters returns to him here with a clip that goes far beyond squirrels — Conner telling audiences he was sucked up out of his office, thrown back 2,000 years in history, and landed on the cobblestone streets of Jerusalem, where he watched Christ carry His cross and "his eyes met my eyes."Peters calls that what it is: blasphemy, made up out of whole cloth to exploit people. He notes how closely Conner's story echoes Jesse Duplantis being sucked out of his room, flags the "what?" shouted mid-story as a technique to keep listeners believing he is more spiritual than they are, and identifies the whole thing as a modern version of Gnosticism. He also shows why Conner's judgment will be more severe: the man can quote 2 Corinthians 5:21 and knows the gospel intellectually, yet lies about Christ without any prick of conscience — evidence, Justin argues, of a heart that is darkened and unregenerate, without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He takes aim at the Assemblies of God and Bethel platforms that host him, the churches that handed out his book by the tens of thousands, and the followers with the same Bible who hear this and sound no alarm.Peters closes not with hatred but with trembling, and a direct call to Conner to repent — because false teachers are themselves part of God's judgment, and discernment here is a matter of the soul.➡️ Click here to find all of Justin’s essential links.

Was Jesus a Socialist? (part 12)

In this episode of Truthspresso I chat about Jesus and socialism.A coworker a while ago made the claim to me that Jesus was a socialist. I have certainly heard this claim before, but I figured I would address it.In part 12 we look at the account of Mary, sister of Martha, anointing Jesus with expensive perfume for His burial. Jesus' disciples murmured about the "waste," and Judas Iscariot suggested that it should have been sold and given to the poor. Jesus, knowing Judas was a thief, answered in a way that a politician might think was calloused and insensitive.Looking at recent arguments from politicians that sound like Judas' question, I observe what I term "Judas Iscariot socialists." The Judas question repeats itself in modern political posturing and virtue signaling.Scriptures Referenced:John 12:1-8John 6:64, 70-71Hebrews 5:14Matthew 26:6-13Mark 14:3-9Sources Referenced:Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders), "While working families at home struggle," X (formerly Twitter), July 1, 2026 11:00 a.m.House Democrats (@HouseDemocrats), "Donald Trump is spending MILLIONS on a UFC fight," X (formerly Twitter), June 12, 2026 2:21 p.m."Stolen SNAP Benefits Cost Beneficiaries Millions," Government Accountability Office, December 2, 2025.We value your feedback!Have questions for Truthspresso? What Should I Focus on to Start Doing Apologetics.

This open Q&A show addresses a young man's question about what he should focus starting out in apologetics. Takeaways:Engaging in apologetics necessitates a combination of humility and an understanding of critical hermeneutics to effectively communicate the gospel message. It is imperative to recognize that theological disagreements should not impede the essential unity of the Christian faith. The importance of addressing contemporary cultural issues within the framework of biblical truth is essential for effective evangelism and discipleship.Understanding the principles of penal substitutionary atonement is crucial for grasping the core of the gospel message and its implications for salvation.Christians must approach discussions with love and patience, emphasizing their identity in Christ rather than divisive theological positions.

Didaché - Clouds Without Water in an Assembly of God Church?? YEP! And Jonathan Shuttlesworth is Big Mad!

When a Word Faith prosperity preacher publicly loses his temper over a cessationist being invited to preach at an Assembly of God church, it says something about what's actually at stake. Justin Peters is bringing his seminar, Clouds Without Water — a biblical refutation of the Word of Faith, New Apostolic Reformation, and Prosperity Gospel movements — to Faith Assembly Church in Lisbon, North Dakota, and Jonathan Shuttlesworth is, in Justin's words, "fit to be tied."Peters lays out who Shuttlesworth is: a friend of Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, and Bill Johnson, a private-jet preacher, and an upcoming speaker at Copeland's Southwest Believers Convention in Fort Worth alongside Jesse Duplantis. He also addresses Shuttlesworth's appeal to 1906 — the Azusa Street Revival — which, Justin says, was no revival at all once you look at its history. The heart of the episode is a plain test of the Holy Spirit's true work. The Spirit does not produce unintelligible ecstatic gibberish, false prophecies, words put in God's mouth that He never said, manufactured signs and wonders, or preachers exploiting the poor, the sick, and widows to fund private jets, Bentleys, and Rolexes. That, Justin says, is the work of a demonic spirit. The Spirit brings people out of deception into truth, out of darkness into light — which is exactly what He is doing in pastor Jeff Williams and his congregation. This matters because discernment isn't tribal loyalty. We have an audience of One, and one day each of us gives an account to Christ — not to a board, a committee, or a denomination.Link to the CWW ConferenceMy Reply to Jonathan ShuttlesworthHistory of the charismatic movement➡️ Click here to find all of Justin’s essential links.

Didaché - Sufficiency of Scripture Summit

Ask almost any evangelical pastor whether Scripture is authoritative, inspired, and inerrant, and you'll get a yes on all three. Ask about its sufficiency, and the confidence tends to evaporate — and that, Justin Peters argues, is exactly where the battle is being fought and lost today.Peters welcomes back Dr. Abner Chou, president of The Master's University, to discuss the Sufficiency Summit, coming November 6–7 at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, where a statement modeled on the Chicago Statement on Inerrancy is being prepared. Chou lays out how sufficiency differs from inspiration and inerrancy: Scripture is the final word on everything it touches, everything for life and godliness, as 2 Peter 1 puts it.From there they name the fronts where sufficiency is under attack — the charismatic movement, which Justin says is a de facto rejection of sufficiency by elevating experience alongside Scripture; Roman Catholicism and the magisterium; seeker-sensitive, market-driven churches (Craig Groeschel's Life.church movie sermon series gets shown on screen); psychology dressed up as biblical counseling; and the deliberate omission of sufficiency from the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. The pattern is always a loophole — something else gets to speak, or a category is declared off-limits to Scripture. This episode matters because closing that loophole is how a generation keeps the truth instead of losing it.Link to Register for the Conference

    S6E23 – REPLAY (Defending Theonomy, Part 3)

REPLAY:All legislation, or law, is a declaration of value. The question is what we will value and how value will be determined. There is always a standard, but the debate is on what standard will be used. The law that God gave to Israel was not just for Israel but was meant to be an example to the nations. For example, in God's word we find principles of federalism, rule of law, and separation of powers. Finally, I briefly address the concept of natural law and its relationship to God's law.
