Hosted by Amber Shaw, the Queen of Pre-Selling.The title comes from where my business actually started. After my own divorce, I was lost, broke, and had no idea how I was going to support my kids on my own. I wasn't just grieving my marriage, I was grieving my identity, my security, and the version of me who thought someone else would always have my back. So I did what most women are never taught to do. I rebuilt my life, my confidence, and my income from the ground up by starting an online coaching business. 492. The $40K Month That Almost Ruined My Business
One great month can prove something is possible. It does NOT prove you've built something you can repeat. In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm sharing a story I've never told on the podcast before, and if I'm being real, it's one I haven't always felt comfortable talking about. Back in 2023, my health and wellness business was doing really well. I'd built it to multiple six figures, I was making consistent revenue, and then I hit my first $40K month. I thought I had finally reached the point where I was ready to scale. So I went all in. I hired an ad agency, started spending thousands on ads, and assumed I could take what was working and simply make it bigger. Except I couldn't. Within months, launches were flopping, the debt was climbing, and eventually I found myself $100K in the hole wondering if I had completely screwed up the business I'd spent years building. Today, I'm walking you through what happened next, why I had to strip everything back to the basics, and how returning to the pre-selling strategies that had actually built my business changed the way I think about growth and scaling today. If you've had some wins in your coaching business but still couldn't confidently tell me how to repeat them, then this episode is for you. Resources Mentioned: Join the ReNewU Interest List: https://products.ambershaw.com/signature-waitlist What I Discuss: 02:54 Going back to 2023 and the business I had built at the time 03:47 The $40K month that made me think I was ready to scale 05:19 Why I hired an ad agency and started putting serious money behind growth 07:37 What I learned the hard way about ads, cold audiences, and scaling 09:27 The mistake I made when I scaled based on a feeling instead of data 12:28 How I went from my best month to $100K in debt 14:10 Why I stopped throwing more tactics at the problem and went back to basics 15:25 The pre-selling ecosystem that had actually been driving my business 17:11 How everything I learned in 2023 eventually led me to pivot into business coaching 18:27 How to figure out where your clients are really coming from and what's actually repeatable 20:20 Why you should never scale the win, but the process that created it Find more from Amber Shaw: Instagram: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com

491. The One Thing AI Can't Create for Your Brand
Your story matters but in 2026, your story alone isn't enough to make you stand out. In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm talking about what actually makes you memorable in an online space where AI has made it easier than ever for everyone to create polished content, tell perfectly crafted stories, and—unfortunately—start sounding a whole lot like each other. I'm sharing how I uncovered the bigger belief underneath my own divorce story and how that belief has become such a huge part of my brand and the work I do today. I'm also walking you through a simple way to use AI to help uncover the opinions you already have—not manufacture them for you. If you've been sharing your story but still feel like your content sounds like everyone else's, then this episode is for you. Resources Mentioned: Listen to Episode 489. 486. Why Your Sales Call Isn't Where You Sell | Sold Before the Call Part 2 of 5

Stop trying to sell on them. In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm diving into what I believe is the missing piece almost every coach overlooks when it comes to signing consistent clients: pre-selling. For years, I've watched coaches pour all their energy into creating content and learning what to say on a discovery call, yet they still struggle to turn conversations into paying clients. Why? Because almost no one teaches what happens in between. I'm breaking down the concept of pre-selling—a framework I've refined after 18 years in sales plus seven years as a business coach. It's everything you intentionally build before someone ever books a discovery call, from the trust you create through your content to the conversations you have in the DMs and the connection you build long before an offer is ever made. When you get this right, your sales calls stop feeling like high-pressure events where you have to convince someone to work with you. Instead, they become a natural confirmation that you're the right fit. If you've been wondering why people enjoy your content but aren't booking calls—or why your sales calls feel harder than they should—then this episode is for you. 485. How To Stop Thinking Like A Coach + Start Thinking Like A Sales Rep | Sold Before the Call Part 1 of 5
Ready to implement what you're learning? The Sold Before the Call podcast teaches the mindset. The Selling Sprint teaches the system. Join the interest list to be first in line when I announce everything coming soon… Join the interest list here: https://products.ambershaw.com/signature-waitlist What if the thing keeping your coaching business stuck isn't your content but the way you're thinking about sales? In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm kicking off a brand-new five-part series called Sold Before the Call, where I'm breaking down the sales mindset and systems I believe the coaching industry has been missing. When I first started my coaching business, I thought my biggest job was becoming a great coach. What I wasn't prepared for was all the other hats I'd have to wear—copywriter, content creator, marketer, CEO...and the one role nobody really talks about: salesperson. The truth is, being a great coach and building a successful coaching business are two completely different skill sets. So today I'm sharing why sales isn't a one-time event that happens on a discovery call. It's a mindset. It's a daily practice. And it's the difference between coaches who hope clients show up and coaches who know how to create consistent revenue. I'll also walk you through the daily habits of top-performing sales professionals, how to shift from passive to active energy, and why learning to think like a sales rep doesn't make you pushy—it makes you a better business owner. If you've been spending more time perfecting your content than intentionally creating sales opportunities, then this episode is for you. What I Discuss: 00:59 The many hats coaches wear and the one most people avoid 02:26 Why sales isn't a single event, but a daily mindset 03:10 Why I created the Sold Before the Call series 07:00 A preview of my new Selling Sprint program 07:59 The trap of avoiding sales by staying "busy" with other tasks 10:25 The commission-based mindset that changed how I approach business 13:13 The daily habits every coach can borrow from great sales reps 16:47 Why follow-up, tracking your numbers, and knowing your pipeline matter 21:03 A self-audit to help you identify where you're being passive in your business 22:26 Your homework before Part 2 of the series 24:04 What's coming next in Sold Before the Call Find more from Amber Shaw: Instagram: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com

484. Should You Offer a One-Week Coaching Trial?
If you've ever had someone get all the way to a discovery call only to hesitate because of the investment, uncertainty, or fear that coaching won't work for them, this episode is for you. I'm breaking down why lowering the barrier to entry doesn't mean lowering your value, how a short trial can build trust without giving away your expertise, and why creating quick wins is one of the most powerful ways to help clients confidently move forward. I'll also walk you through how to structure a coaching trial, how to transition into a natural next-steps conversation, and why the best sales conversations never feel like you're convincing someone to buy. Resources Mentioned: Join the waitlist for ReNewU, the step-by-step business roadmap for women who are DONE guessing and finally ready to build a profitable coaching business: https://products.ambershaw.com/signature-waitlist What I Discuss: 01:17 Why one-week coaching trials can help increase conversions 04:08 Why creating quick wins is the fastest way to build trust 06:10 How to structure a one-week coaching trial 07:20 How to lead a natural "next steps" sales conversation after the trial 10:03 Pricing strategy for a one-week coaching trial 12:35 Why the best coaches sell through service, not pressure 14:31 The mindset shift that makes continuing with you feel like the obvious next step Find more from Amber Shaw: Instagram: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com

483. Why You Struggle to Have Predictable Revenue In Your Coaching Business
Have you ever thought, "I know I can coach…so why aren't clients coming in consistently?" In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm talking to the coach who's already proven she can get clients—but still can't seem to create predictable income. Maybe you've signed a beta client. Maybe you've landed a client through a referral, networking, or even Instagram. You know you're capable. You know your coaching works. But your business still feels unstable. In this episode, I'm breaking down why this stage of business is so frustrating, why getting a few clients isn't the same as having a predictable business, and the simple diagnostic I use to figure out where a coaching business is actually breaking down. Resources Mentioned: Book your FREE Client Traction Diagnostic Call: https://calendly.com/amber-shaw/client-traction-diagnostic What I Discuss: 01:46 The biggest insights from my recent DM Dollars workshop 03:07 Why the "weird middle" stage of business feels so frustrating 05:15 The problem with relying on referrals and other unrepeatable client sources 07:26 What I actually mean when I talk about building systems 08:15 The one metric I want you to track this week instead of views and followers 09:40 How to tell whether you have a visibility problem or a sales conversation problem 11:23 A free diagnostic call to help identify your biggest bottleneck 14:05 My challenge for you as you head into the second half of the year Find more from Amber Shaw: Instagram: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com
