There are MAJOR Rippling Effects of Knowing God 🔥🔥
What if the biggest problem in your life right now isn't your situation, but how you're seeing it? In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, Phillip Jones sits down with Brayden to talk about the tension between God's reality and our perceived reality. Walking through 2 Kings 6, the story of Elisha and the unseen army becomes a powerful picture of what it looks like to trust God even when you can't see what He's doing. We talk about faith, anxiety, waiting seasons, prayer, pride, and why we're so quick to forget everything God has already done for us. Whether you're struggling to trust God, battling doubt, or just feel stuck in a season of waiting, this conversation will challenge you to see your circumstances differently. God hasn't stopped being faithful. The question is, are we remembering? If this helped you, share it with someone who needs encouragement today.

Make Disciples Who Surpass You | Real Discipleship with Karl Thistle
What if the goal of your life wasn't just to follow Jesus—but to raise people who go further than you ever did? In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, I sit down with Karl Thistle to talk about real, biblical discipleship—not programs, not information dumps, but life-on-life transformation. Using the story of Elijah and Elisha, we unpack what it actually means to make disciples who make disciples. We talk about: • Why discipleship requires risk, time, and vulnerability • How self-doubt keeps us from stepping into what God already called us to • What to do if you feel unqualified to disciple someone • Why being teachable matters more than being smart • How real discipleship happens in everyday life, not just Bible studies • The goal of discipleship: not followers, but people who surpass you Jesus didn't call us to sit and consume—He called us to go and make disciples. The question is… are we actually doing that? If you've ever felt like you don't know enough, aren't ready, or don't know where to start—this conversation is for you.

Why You're Burnt Out and How to Deal With It - With Tony Schultz
Why do so many Christians feel exhausted, even when they're doing all the "right" things? In this episode, we talk about spiritual burnout, not just being busy, but what's actually happening underneath it. A lot of believers aren't walking away from God because they hate Him. They're burning out trying to perform for Him. What if the issue isn't how much you're doing, but how you see God? We break down what Scripture actually says about serving God, sonship, and why Jesus says His burden is light, but many of us feel crushed anyway. If God has started to feel more like a boss than a Father, this conversation is for you. This isn't about doing less. It's about understanding the gospel rightly, and letting that reshape how you live, serve, and rest.

You're Not Being Judged... You're Being Challenged
Why does truth feel like an attack? In this episode, we dive into one of the most intense and powerful moments in the Bible—Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18)—where one man stands against hundreds and calls an entire nation to make a decision. But this isn't just an ancient story… it's a mirror. We talk about what it really means to be challenged in your faith, why so many people today see Christianity as a threat, and how easy it is to confuse conviction with judgment. The reality is, being challenged isn't rejection… it's an invitation to grow. In this conversation, we unpack: -Why people push back against truth (and why it feels personal) -The difference between judgment vs. loving challenge -What happens when you try to live in both worlds of faith and culture -Why following God is a much bigger decision than most people realize -How to stand firm in your beliefs without becoming harsh or self-righteous -The role of God's power, not just words, in transforming lives -Why you might feel alone in your faith (and why you're not) We also get real about something most people don't talk about: 👉 Turning to God means confronting your past, your beliefs, and your identity, and that's not easy. But it's worth it. Elijah didn't just speak truth, he challenged people to respond. And that same challenge still exists today: If God is real… what are you going to do about it? This episode isn't about calling people out. It's about calling people up.

In this episode, we unpack what's actually happening when life feels slow, boring, or directionless, and why those seasons are often where real dependence on God is built. In this epsisode talk about: -Why waiting seasons feel so frustrating -How comfort and distraction keep you restless -What God is doing behind the scenes -How to respond instead of just enduring it If you feel stuck right now, this will help you understand why, and what to do next. Why You Aren't Changing the World [yet] With Guest Savannah Jones
Why aren't you changing the world yet? That question can stir ambition, guilt, insecurity, or frustration, especially if you feel called to more, but your life feels small right now. In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, Phillip Jones is joined by his wife, Savannah Jones, for an honest conversation about calling, faithfulness, and what God is actually doing in seasons that feel slow, difficult, or unnoticed. Using the story of Elijah and Israel's worship of Baal, we talk about culture, freedom, obedience, and why the desire to change the world often causes us to overlook the ministry God has already placed right in front of us. We also share personal stories about planting a church, moving across states, unmet expectations, financial strain, and learning that obedience doesn't always look like success. This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, behind, or discouraged in their calling. Sometimes the issue isn't that you aren't changing the world yet, but that God is forming faithfulness in places you never expected. In this episode, we talk about: Why "changing the world" is often misunderstood Elijah, Baal, and confronting culture faithfully God's sovereignty in uncomfortable seasons Obedience that doesn't look impressive Faithfulness in marriage, parenting, and everyday work The danger of ignoring the ministry right in front of you Why God so often works through weakness instead of strength If you've ever wondered why God hasn't moved you forward yet, this conversation is for you.

When God Makes You Wait: the Painful Blessing of Patience
Waiting on God is one of the hardest parts of the Christian life. When you feel called, ready, willing — and the doors still don't open — it's easy to wonder if God forgot you. In today's episode, Vanessa and Phillip dive deep into the story of Abraham and Sarah to show what godly waiting actually looks like... and what happens when we try to take control into our own hands. We talk about impatience, disappointment, calling, ministry burnout, family pressures, and what Romans 8 really means when it talks about creation groaning. This conversation is honest, funny, challenging, and full of real‑life stories — from parenting, to failed plans, to seasons where God seemed completely silent. If you're in a season of waiting, this is for you. If you feel stuck, overlooked, or confused, this is for you. If you're tempted to force God's promises on your timing… this is definitely for you. This episode is all about trust. Present trust. Future trust. Eternal trust.

Where Is God's Comfort When We Grieve?
Grief is one of the hardest parts of life, and sometimes the hardest part of faith. When we're hurting, we often hear phrases like "God is with you" or "God will comfort you." But what does that actually mean when you're in the middle of loss? In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, we talk honestly about grief, unmet expectations with God, and how faith and pain can exist at the same time. We discuss: • Why Christians still experience deep grief • The difference between running from pain and processing it • What God's comfort actually looks like • How grief can deepen our faith Grief doesn't mean God is absent. But sometimes His comfort looks different than we expect. If you've ever wondered "Where is God when I'm hurting?", this conversation is for you. When God Says NO with Adam of Glasshouse TV
In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, I sit down with my friend Adam from Glasshouse TV to talk honestly about unanswered prayer, God's goodness, sovereignty, and the painful moments when His answer is no or not yet. This episode gets personal. We talk anxiety, frustration, disappointment, and what Scripture actually teaches about prayer and the will of God. We look closely at Paul's thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians 12, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, and what it means that God answers every prayer but often in a way that is different from what we expected. We also talk about the dangers of prosperity teaching, the pressure to perform for God, and how bad theology creates confusion and shame instead of comfort. Adam shares how God used years of closed doors to direct his steps, and I share my own story of praying for God to take my life during the darkest moments of depression and how His no ended up saving me. If you've ever wondered why God doesn't heal something, fix something, open a door, or give clarity when you ask for it, this conversation is for you. God is not ignoring you. He is not mad at you. He is not punishing you. A no or not yet from God is often an act of His goodness and love, even when it hurts. I hope this episode encourages you and helps you see that God's will is better, His timing is wiser, and His grace is sufficient for every weakness.

Is Calling Someone Out Biblical?
Should Christians call other Christians out? Or should we "just focus on our own sin"? In this episode, we wrestle with the tension between Matthew 7's "remove the plank from your own eye" and Matthew 18's "go to your brother". Using the story of David and Nathan in 2 Samuel 12, we unpack: When confrontation is obedience When it becomes pride or bitterness The danger of gossip disguised as concern Why public correction is complicated How to confront with humility and love If you've ever struggled with whether to speak up or stay silent, this conversation is for you. Today on The Dwelling Place Lounge, Phillip sits down with Pastor Eric Knight to talk honestly about brokenness, sin, and the God who restores His children. Using Psalm 51 and David's repentance as the anchor, we walk through what brokenness actually is, why God uses it, and how humility—not self‑pity—is the path back to joy in Christ. We talk through the world's version of brokenness vs. the biblical one, why believers feel the weight of sin differently, and how the Spirit leads us toward repentance rather than condemnation. Phillip also opens up about his own season of brokenness, mental health, misplaced priorities, and learning to cling to Christ with desperation. In this episode, we have an honest conversation about faithfulness in places that feel unseen and overlooked. You're Already in Ministry (Even If You Don't Work at a Church)
You don't need a microphone, a stage, or a church job to be doing ministry. In this episode we talk about: ✅ What ministry actually is ✅ Why faithfulness matters ✅ How simple obedience builds a life that stands out ✅ Living out your faith in a secular workplace ✅ Why comparison kills calling ✅ Supporting the mission of God even if you're not "the one preaching" Your workplace, your family, your community, and your everyday choices can be part of the mission of Jesus. 📖 Scripture: 3 John 🎙️ Topics: calling, obedience, faithfulness, everyday ministry, Christian living If this encouraged you, subscribe, leave a comment, and share it with someone who needs the reminder: you're already in ministry. Why We Reject Grace (Even When We Believe It)
Why is it so hard to accept grace, even when we believe it's true? Do you struggle more with believing you're forgiven, or living like you are? Comment down below! In this episode of The Dwelling Place Lounge, we wrestle with a tension many Christians live in every day: knowing we're forgiven, yet still carrying guilt and shame. Through Luke 2 and Romans 5, we talk about why grace often feels too free, why we keep trying to pay for what Jesus already finished, and how peace with God can exist even when we don't feel it. From the shepherds' invitation to "come and see" to our modern struggle with self-punishment, this conversation explores: -Why we reject grace even when we believe in it -How shame distorts our view of God and ourselves -What it actually means to be justified and at peace with God -Why joy feels hard when forgiveness feels undeserved This episode is for anyone who believes in Jesus, but still struggles to believe He really meant them. In Ecclesiastes 2, Solomon chases joy, value, and identity through pleasure, accomplishments, and wealth—only to find it all meaningless. Intentional Living - Worship
"Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory because of your faithful love, because of your truth. 2 Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" 3 Our God is in heaven and does whatever he pleases. 4 Their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. 5 They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. 6 They have ears but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. 7 They have hands but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk. They cannot make a sound with their throats. 8 Those who make them are just like them, as are all who trust in them." Today we dive in to Psalm 115, Pastor Phillip's favorite Psalm. What does this teach us about the heart of worship? What is the function of worship and role of it in church and the lives of the believer? What makes worship true, and when is it just for show?
