Five Words Every Leader Avoids: Mortality, Loss, Regret, Identity, Perspective

Today, we're flying into San Diego, California, to chat with coach, scholar, pastor, and speaker Reverend Dr. Seth David Clark. Seth has spent over 20 years working where leadership gets complicated. He's the lead pastor of the First Baptist Church of National City, a multicultural and majority refugee congregation in Southern California. He also served as a hospice chaplain during the COVID-19 pandemic, sitting with dying patients and their families, and that work changed the way he thinks about everything. Death matters because life matters. Seth calls this approach morality-aware leadership: the practice of leading with the knowledge that your time is finite, using that knowledge to make better decisions, build stronger teams, and face loss as well as change with greater courage and resilience, and leave something worth leaving. Spiritual Intelligence: The Missing Link That Turbocharges EQ

Today, we're flying into Palo Alto, California, home of Stanford University, as well as our guest, a licensed clinical psychologist, a CEO leadership coach, an author, and a pioneering researcher in the field of spiritual intelligence, Yosi Amram. Yosi holds a BS and MS in engineering from MIT and an MBA from Harvard and became the founder and CEO of two technology companies that he led through successful IPOs. He went on to earn a PhD in clinical transpersonal psychology and initiated his academic research into spiritual intelligence. Through this research, Yosi developed a groundbreaking theory in spiritual intelligence with an associated model for spiritual intelligence leadership, which has received over 1,000 citations to date. Today, as a therapist and leadership coach working with over 100 CEOs, Yosi has supported many of his clients in building organizations, recruiting and overseeing thousands of employees, and achieving annual revenues in the billions.
