    When The Justice System Fails

In this episode we discuss our brief encounter with Joshua Cottrell. We had the opportunity to pray with Josh Cottrell just weeks before he committed a double murder of Kayla Blake, 37, and her 13-year-old daughter Kennedi McWhorter dead in their Morehead, Kentucky home   Based on publicly reported court and news records, Joshua Cottrell is a Kentucky man whose criminal history includes two separate homicide cases spanning more than 20 years. 2003–2005 Homicide Case Cottrell was charged in the death of 36-year-old Richie Phillips in Hardin County, Kentucky. He admitted killing Phillips but claimed self-defense, alleging Phillips made unwanted sexual advances and a fight followed. A jury convicted him of second-degree manslaughter rather than murder. He was also convicted of theft and tampering with physical evidence. He received a 20-year prison sentence but was reportedly paroled after approximately 2½ years.   2025 Rowan County Double Murder Case In September 2025, authorities found Kayla Blake, 37, and her 13-year-old daughter Kennedi McWhorter dead in their Morehead, Kentucky home after a welfare check. Investigators alleged that Cottrell stabbed both victims and moved their bodies, leading to charges of two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Reports indicated he was located at a hospital in the Paducah area and was found with blood on his clothing.   Guilty Plea and Sentence On April 28, 2026, Cottrell pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murders, along with a concurrent five-year sentence for evidence tampering.     We ask that you continue to pray for the victims families of this horrific incident.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry. Rod Diaz Escaping The Ramp

The Ramp, it is commonly described by critics and former members as a highly controlling, high-pressure ministry based in Hamilton, Alabama, founded by Karen Wheaton, with a school of ministry that some former participants explicitly label a cult.  Accounts from ex-members describe intense emotional manipulation using themes of sin, shame, and fear of damnation, along with strong pressure to give sacrificial financial offerings and to prioritize the ministry over family and outside relationships.  More recent reporting has also documented serious leadership failures, including the firing of the founder’s son‑in‑law from a leadership role after he admitted to sexually abusing minors, which has intensified public scrutiny of the culture and oversight at The Ramp. Life Coach & Author Amanda Stout.

Christian life coach and author Amanda K. Stout shares the story behind writing her book The Awakening, a heartfelt message for believers who feel exhausted by religion yet still long for real freedom in Christ. She talks about how God led her through her own season of overwhelm and confusion, and how that journey awakened her to the difference between performing for God and actually walking in His grace. During the conversation she unpacks key themes from the book—aligning belief and behavior, embracing truth without losing love, and stepping out of fear-based faith into a more honest, Spirit-led relationship with Jesus. By the end of the episode, listeners are invited to see “awakening” not as a one-time moment but as an ongoing process of letting God realign their heart, identity, and daily life with His truth and freedom. Avoiding Pitfalls in Marriage

In this imagined episode of The Free at Last Podcast, Mick and Tami open by sharing that, after 20‑plus years of marriage and over a decade in ministry, they’ve watched many Christian couples drift into trouble not through one big crisis, but through a series of small, unaddressed issues.  They frame the conversation around the idea that “revival in households” has to start with honesty about what’s really going wrong between husbands and wives, not just better church involvement.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry. The Testimony of AJ Justice.

AJ Justice joins us to share how Jesus rescued him from years of bondage to drugs and the destructive lifestyle that came with it. He recalls a childhood marked by hurt and bad influences, early experimentation that spiraled into full-blown addiction, and the lies he believed about himself—that he was too far gone, too broken, and beyond God’s reach. AJ walks listeners through the lowest points: broken relationships, run-ins with the law, and moments when he genuinely did not care whether he lived or died, until one desperate night when he finally cried out to Jesus for help.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry. Resisting Religious Spirits

In this episode of The Free at Last Podcast, Mick and Tami open with Proverbs 4:23, reminding listeners that everything in life flows from the condition of the heart. They explain what they mean by a “religious spirit”: a mindset that looks spiritual on the outside but is fueled by pride, performance, and control rather than a real relationship with Jesus. Drawing from stories in their own ministry and conversations with people who have come out of legalistic or high‑control church environments, they show how a religious spirit can twist good things—like Bible reading, serving, or church attendance—into ways of earning God’s approval instead of responding to His grace.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry. Are You Satisfied?

In an episode of the Free At Last podcast, hosts Mick and Tami Sammons engage their audience with a heartfelt discussion about spiritual satisfaction in Jesus. The episode opens with Mick and Tami posing the central, reflective question to listeners: “Are you satisfied in Jesus?” They encourage the audience to pause and honestly evaluate their own walk with Christ and whether their hearts find true fulfillment in Him or in other things. Throughout the episode, Mick and Tami draw on real-life stories—both from their own spiritual journeys and from guests who have faced challenges such as addiction, broken relationships, or emotional struggles. These testimonies illustrate how lives are transformed when individuals anchor their satisfaction in Jesus rather than fleeting pursuits. The hosts explain that satisfaction in Christ means embracing His love, accepting His forgiveness, and experiencing inner peace, even in the midst of trials. They invite listeners to interact, asking them to share how Jesus has satisfied their deepest needs or where they still wrestle with finding fulfillment. By fostering this dialogue, Mick and Tami emphasize that satisfaction in Jesus is a continual process—a journey of turning from temporary solutions to the lasting hope found in Him.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry. Megan Layne

This episode features a heartfelt conversation with Megan, who shares her personal journey of faith and transformation. Growing up, Megan describes being in and out of church during her childhood, often attending services with family but never fully understanding what it meant to have a personal relationship with God. As she entered adulthood, she realized that spiritual routine without genuine connection left her feeling empty and directionless. When life challenges began to surface, Megan sensed God calling her to draw closer and make her faith her own. In the episode, she explains how that turning point led her to commit to a consistent walk with the Lord through daily devotionals—spending time each morning praying, reading Scripture, and journaling what God places on her heart. She discusses the difference this new discipline made in her spiritual growth, bringing peace, clarity, and joy back into her life. Listeners will be inspired by Megan’s honesty about her ups and downs, her renewed dedication to living for Christ, and her encouragement for others to seek a personal, daily connection with God rather than relying on occasional church attendance or emotion-based faith experiences. Choose This Day!

In this episode, Mick and Tami dive into one of life’s most defining questions: Which kingdom will you serve—the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness? Drawing from Scripture, they unpack what it means to live under the reign of Christ’s light, contrasted with the subtle entanglements that pull people toward darkness. The conversation is both practical and personal. Mick reflects on how daily decisions reveal allegiance to one kingdom or the other, while Tami brings insight on how culture often masks darkness in attractive ways. Together, they challenge listeners to examine the values shaping their choices and to recognize the eternal consequences of spiritual allegiance. Listeners will come away with a fresh perspective on the seriousness of this decision, as well as encouragement that choosing the kingdom of light brings freedom, hope, and true identity in Christ.   We want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support for this ministry.
