In this edition, we take a detour from our normal audio magazine format. In preparation for the Purim holiday, we present Part One of a dramatization of the Megillah (Book of Esther). The original version aired on A Taste of Torah, a popular program produced by the OU and hosted by Rabbi Peretz Eichler. Some time back, well-known Jewish novelist Libby Lazewnik (La-ZEV-nik) sat down with Gavriel to discuss her perspective on Jewish fiction today, how she gleans plot devices, and what being a writer means to her.  

Missionary street preachers are popping up all over Israel. Armed with personal PA systems, they proclaim loudly that Jews have no mechanism for acquiring forgiveness from the Al-Mighty since there is no priesthood, no temple, and no sacrifice system. I was witness to a most unexpected question at a recent Shabbat dinner. Behind the question was another world. Find out why those two words were eye-openers to a perceive a higher plane of living.  

Sara Yoheved Rigler is a celebrated author and lecturer. Her personal Jewish journey from an ashram to Aish Hatorah is moving. Here she shares one of her upbeat stories from her book 'Lights from Jerusalem'.

Some time back, I featured Dr. Jeffery Weber on The Gavriel Sanders Show in NY. He's a celebrated healer in the NY Jewish community and beyond. Ben Zion Shenker A'H was an acclaimed composer who authored over 400 songs, starting in 1941, including Aishes Chayil and many other popular melodies. He was associated with the Modzitz branch of chassidus, a tradition known for its love of song.
