The Gift of Love Broadcast

As human beings, we are all composed of spirit energy, and it is of utmost importance that we remain attuned to the appropriate frequency. Countless frequencies abound, each containing their own set of messages and influences, but it is the frequency of heaven, light, and love that we must strive to synchronize ourselves with. In order to do so, we must heed this timely message regarding the various methods by which we can enhance our spiritual vibration and consequently tune into heaven's frequency.  As we increase our spiritual vibration, a wealth of benefits will arise, including the unfolding of our dreams, a marked rise in our happiness quotient, and a pervasive sense of peace that will infuse every aspect of our lives. Furthermore, our positive energy and the spirit of light and love that radiates from us will be immediately noticeable to those around us. Thus, let us make a conscious effort to enhance our spiritual vibration, and rise to the majestic planes of heaven. 

As we begin the New Year with the hope of turning the corner, and settings our expectations for a positive and productive year, it is important that we focus on balance in our lives. All of our great spiritual traditions teach us that balance is the key to life.  However, so many of us live an imbalanced life and we neglect areas that are important to the life outcomes that we experience. Speak What You Want and Not What You Have   Scripture teaches us that death and life are in the power of the tongue.  We are also told that our words are like a rudder on a ship.  Although a small member, it is most powerful in that it has the power to dictate the direction of our lives. But how many of us use our tongue, or our words to take us in the direction that we really don’t want to go?  How many times do we use our words to affirm where we don’t really want to be as opposed to where we’re trying to go? Let’s imagine this…what if you had the key to your future?  What if you could unlock your potential, immediately, and steer a new course for your life? Well guess what?  That's what your words do.  Your words help to unlock your potential and create the reality that you want.  Your words, are the key to the hopes, dreams, and desires that you have on the inside of you. Instead of unlocking the door to your present with sometimes reckless words affirming what you really do not want,  Use your words to unlock what you do want in your life.  Speak what you want and not what you have. Say I am healthy.  Say I am happy.  Say I am successful.  Say I am Loved.  Say that God loves me the way that I am. Unlock Love in your life with words of Love and not words of pain, despair, and hopelessness. Speak what you want and not what you have.

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving season, I believe that it is important to reflect on what it means to be thankful and the ways in which we can express our thankfulness to God.   To be thankful is to appreciate the many blessings that you have in your life while refusing to focus on what you do not have.  To be thankful is to be joyful where you are, and to decide against being mournful over where you are not.   You know…being unthankful is like little kids who ignore the fact that their parents just took them to buy ice cream, but are unhappy because their parents told them that they could not eat the ice cream in the living room.  Don’t you realize that daddy just bought you the ice cream that is in your hand?  If you focused on that, you would realize the immense joy that is literally at your fingertips.   To be thankful is to say thank you for ice cream dad, I don’t need the living room in order to be happy at this moment.  I have the most important piece of the equation.   Likewise, we have life today.  For many of us, we have a roof over our head, we have family, we have resources, and we have LOVE in our lives.  We have Love to give and we have love to receive.  Let’s be thankful for that today, and recapture our joy.  Because when we are thankful, we re-discover our joy and that's what it's about.   In addition to this…I believe that we should also think of those who do not have.  Jesus is constantly redirecting us towards the suffering and the needs of others.  Not to simply acknowledge them, but Jesus wants us to put on their shoes and empathize with their realities.  Therefore, it is not enough to simply be thankful for what we have.  We should give others something to be thankful for.    To be thankful is to be joyful, and when you are full of joy, you are the light of the world, and we are called to be the light of the world.   Let’s be thankful this holiday season, and spread our joy at home and in our communities.   Challenge   Write down at least ten (10) things that you are thankful for, and share it with each other.  Share it with your spouse, your children, your friends, or your co-workers.  Invite others into your thankfulness circle and spread more joy today.

In this series, we will discuss the importance of discovering your purpose in life.  We will discuss spiritual and practical sign posts that are there to help direct us towards our purpose and help us accomplish it. In part 1, we discuss the different types of individuals there are as it relates to discovering our purpose in life.  Which one are you? 5 Types of People: Which One Are You? Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."   One of the greatest promises of scripture is that we will be directed by the Spirit if we will trust and lean not on our own wisdom.  The comfort in knowing that we have access to infinite knowledge, infinite wisdom, and infinite being is more than we could ever hope for.  However, the prerequisite to receiving direction from heaven is for you and me to trust in the Lord.   Trusting is a process and we build trust by spending time with God in the Spirit.  We also build Trust by reading stories of our faith she/he-roes in scripture who God led through difficult circumstances and into promising lands and lives of tremendous impact and meaning.   Begin your week off right by deciding to trust in the Lord.  Seek God's voice through prayer.  Seek God's wisdom through meditation and scripture.  Step out on what the Spirit is leading you to do and experience God's best for our life as a result of you simply Trusting.   Please share the Gift of Love Broadcast with others.  Help us to spread God's message of Love to the ends of the earth.  You can find us on itunes, spotify, podbean, and anchor radio.

What if we treated every phone call with our loved one's like it was our last?  What if we approached every interaction with friends, family, business associates, or casual acquaintances like it was our last interaction?  What if we considered every event in our lives as divine, valuable, and as our most precious commodity in that moment?  The "Call" principle is about my last conversation with my Father.  At the time, I did not know that it would be my last conversation, but in hindsight, I realize that I would have approached that moment differently had I known.    And in most cases, we will never know the significance of a moment until it has passed.  However, there comes a point in our lives when we can no longer live in hindsight and with constant regrets. Another option is to treat every moment like it's our last.  We have the choice to approach every interaction with carefulness and sensitivity so that we can position ourselves to receive all that we can from that moment.  And if we live a life that consistently values every second, minute, and hour of our day, our belief is that eventually, we will compile a life of triumphant experiences and memorable encounters that matter and have profound meaning. Please be inspired to consider a higher approach in which every moment is divine.  No matter how large or small or insignificant it may feel at the moment, we consider it to be so.  We never know when it will be our last or their last, and we never know how a simple phone call or hello can change our future.  Yet, it will always count if we pour our hearts and our spirits into those moments.

As we celebrate the 4th of July, the National Holiday of Independence for Americans, we also realize that this holiday evokes a conflict of emotions for black and brown folk representing marginalized communities.  To be a proud American does not mean that certain folk are able to easily dismiss the pain, the anger, and the disillusionment that this holiday reminds us of.  The 4th of July in all its glory also reminds many that this day was not meant for them initially.  It reminds us that some had to fight for independence within a Nation that fought for independence but not for them because they were not considered citizens or humans.  In this episode of the Gift of Love Broadcast, this double-consciousness from the perspective of a black American is explored, and an excerpt from Frederick Douglass' 1853 speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?" is read.  My hope is that the discussion of two America's, and the contrasting lens through which this social experiment is viewed are understood and validated as we continue to work towards the realization of these ideals for Americans and the rest of the World. Commitment is defined as the "state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc."  I also believe is when your mind, body, and soul agrees that a goal or outcome must be attained.  In other words, there are no other options except for the completion of the task.  Commitment is what all of our most successful people and stories possess.  It is when we are committed to a vision, a cause, or a project that we find meaning, purpose, happiness, and fulfillment.  Are you committed to something, and if so, when was the last time that you invested in that which you are committed to.  Recount stories of commitment in your life, and remember the joy of accomplishment.  All of our great spiritual teachers were committed to their spiritual potential, and we too are committed to Love and the full expression of our divinity within. 

Community is one of the most important resources that we have at our disposal in our quest for spiritual evolution and realization.  We are designed and created to be in community and to be connected with other people.  And not just other people who reflect our experiences and worldview, but a diverse collection of inclusive community is the path to reaching our human and divine potential.  In this episode, we are encouraged to emphasize and prioritize connecting with other people through intentional community building.  Jesus, our greatest teacher, began his work by creating community as a first priority.  This communicates to us that we are bound in community, and our health (spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical) and success are often tied to the degree of community that we are engaged in. "The Cure Principle" from the series "Lesson From My Father" is an inspirational message about overcoming our own hurt, pain, grief, or unhappiness by focusing on curing someone else's pain and unhappiness.  When we turn our attention away from what we need and use that same energy to meet the needs of someone else, we not only provide a cure for them but for ourselves as well.  I believe that we were designed to be communal, and being communal means being the cure for each other.  In a world that often advocates for individualism as a life worldview, this Lesson and the teaching of many of our great Spiritual teachers show us that becoming 'Others' centered is when we tap into our true potential.  To focus on a cure for someone else is to find a cure for ourselves.  'Give and it shall be given unto You."  "Cure someone else and you shall be cured."  "Your Healing is found in the Healing of Others." Lifted from our ancient religious philosophy of Taoism, finding our flow, or current, in life is one of the most important endeavors we can embark upon.  When we "Find our flow," we find our purpose, our place, and our passion.  This is similar to Jesus teaching us to Seek the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:25).  Listen to this practical teaching that will help us identify the flow of our lives.

In Proverbs 4:23, the scripture teaches us "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."  Guarding our hearts is essential to experiencing a spiritually healthy life, and a life that produces the fruit that we really want.  We are to be judicious about what we allow to enter into our lives from the words that we hear and read, to the examples and advice that we choose to follow.  Guarding Our Hearts is a timely and relevant message that can change the direction of our lives!     

The Bible teaches us in Luke 16:10 "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."  Through parables and through life examples, we understand that God rewards those who prove to be Faithful when no one is watching; when no is celebrating us; and when no one is expecting greatness.  This message encourages us to be faithful over little with the promise that those who are faithful in the lowest of circumstances, like Joseph, will be made rulers!

God is a multiplier and maximizer of all things placed in His hands.  Like the loaves of bread and the Fish, this message encourages all of us to give to God our lives so that the most can be made of it.

The word "Extremist" generally evokes a negative connotation when discussed in the context of religion.  However, what if we were extremist for good?  Extremist for those virtues that draw humanity forward?  What if we were extremist, passionately dedicated to, Love?  Jesus was an extremist, and many of our greatest leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were extremist.
