The Night Stalker - Richard Ramirez Part One

This week on Grim Curriculum, we begin our 200th episode series on one of the most infamous serial killers in American history, Richard Ramirez, better known as the “Night Stalker.”In Part One, we trace Ramirez’s early life, his family history, and the deeply disturbing environment that shaped his formative years before his move to Los Angeles at just 18 years old. Even at this stage of the story, the warning signs are staggering. Violence, trauma, abuse, and dangerous influences surrounded Ramirez from an early age, raising difficult questions about nature, nurture, and how monsters are made. While there is no excuse for the horrors Richard Ramirez would later commit, this episode examines the circumstances that may have helped create the man he became. Was he born evil, or was he shaped into it by the people and experiences around him?We want to hear your thoughts.Watch the video episode on Patreon & YouTubehttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumFollow us on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/thegrimcurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comFor all the other places you can support us by checking out our TGC Merch, & Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/thegrimcurriculum

EXTRA CREDIT: It's All About The Ladies Today, Folks.

This week on Extra Credit, we’ve got a lineup of cases that just so happen to share one common thread, women, for better or for worse.Dina brings three shorter stories to the table, while Charlotte delivers a longer history lesson, each case offering its own mix of chaos and consequences. Totally unplanned, but somehow perfectly aligned. And don’t worry, Dina didn’t forget to include a Florida Woman story. Our strange and unusual death this week is the only one that doesn’t centre a woman, but let’s just say… it’s a classic case of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".Wanna see us do some ghost hunting? Horrific Asylums of the Past

This week we are stepping inside some of the most notorious asylums of the past, places where those deemed “unwell” were hidden away, often forgotten, and too often mistreated. Institutions like Philadelphia State Hospital, Danvers State Hospital, and Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum were meant to provide care, but behind their walls, overcrowding, neglect, and harmful “treatments” became the reality for many patients. We also examine the work of Nellie Bly, who risked her own safety by having herself committed to expose the conditions inside these institutions, bringing the public face to face with what was happening out of sight. These were not just places of treatment, but places of control, where fear, misunderstanding, and authority often dictated who was confined and how they were treated. In episode 199, we confront the human cost of these institutions, the stories that emerged from within them, and the systems that allowed such suffering to continue unchecked.Watch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumFollow us on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/thegrimcurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comFor all the other places you can support us by checking out our TGC Merch, & Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/thegrimcurriculum

Love Has Won - An Internet Cult

This week on The Grim Curriculum, we step into one of the internet age’s most bizarre and unsettling fringe groups: the Love Has Won cult, led by Amy Carlson. What began as a spiritual movement quickly spiralled into something far stranger, blending New Age beliefs, online devotion, and increasingly extreme behaviour. Followers believed Carlson to be a divine being, a figure they called “Mother God”, and their dedication led them down a path that blurred the line between faith and control. At the centre of it all is a striking contradiction: Carlson, who was revered as “Mother” by her followers, had previously left behind her own husband and three children in pursuit of this new identity, a reality that adds another unsettling layer to the story. In this episode, we break down the rise of Love Has Won, the inner workings of the group, and the disturbing reality behind its public image. From livestreams and loyal followers to the shocking events that ultimately drew widespread attention, this is a story that feels as surreal as it is deeply unsettling.Watch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumFollow us on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/thegrimcurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comFor all the other places you can support us by checking out our TGC Merch, & Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/thegrimcurriculum

EXTRA CREDIT: Updates, Crime Dogs, Corruption, and Catastrophic Decisions

Charlotte starts us off with an update in the Gerhardt Konig case, while Dina brings the latest from the Long Island Serial Killer investigation. Charlotte then shares some shocking old news from 2011 involving the actor behind McGruff the Crime Dog, proving that even the voices behind familiar faces can have a darker side. Dina follows with a truly horrifying home invasion story that feels like something straight out of a nightmare. Thankfully, Charlotte lightens things up with the tale of a flamboyant Florida gangster and fire chief whose disappearance remains unsolved to this day. Dina brings us right back into chaos with another Florida story, this time involving a surgeon who is in serious trouble after removing the wrong organ. Charlotte’s final story takes us back to 1946 with the Battle of Athens, a rare example of ordinary people standing up against corruption and winning. And of course, we wrap things up with this week’s Strange and Unusual Death. This one is as gruesome as it is cautionary, and might be one of the most memorable arguments against driving under the influence we’ve ever heard.Watch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumNEW DESIGNS IN THE GRIM MERCH SHOPthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comAll the other places you can support us https://linktr.ee/thegrimcurriculum

Lizzie Halliday - “The Worst Woman on Earth”

Known for a trail of deception, violence, and suspicion that followed her across multiple states, Halliday was married multiple times, with several of her husbands dying under suspicious circumstances. At a time when female offenders were often underestimated or overlooked, her case stood out in a way few others did. She was a woman often described as one of the most dangerous in American history, she would go on to become the first woman in the United States sentenced to death by the electric chair, a decision that shocked the public and had the newspapers foaming at the mouth. EXTRA CREDIT: Closure, Conspiracies, and Questionable Decisions Involving WWI Artifacts

This week on Extra Credit we’re covering a mix of long awaited updates, ongoing trials, and stories that are as bizarre as they are unsettling.Dina starts us off with an update on a long unsolved case linked to Ted Bundy. While we never enjoy talking about him, we are glad to share that another victim’s family has finally received some long overdue closure.Charlotte follows up with a recent case out of Hawaii involving a doctor accused of attempting to murder his wife in what some are calling an “alpine divorce” style case. The trial is ongoing and the details are as disturbing as they are complex.Dina then brings a truly bizarre murder case, and honestly, it is one you’re going to have to hear to believe.Charlotte shifts gears slightly with a medical case tied to World War history that will have you asking one very specific question: what won’t someone stick where the sun doesn’t shine? We also touch on the latest developments involving the Duggar family, a name long time listeners will remember from the early days of The Grim Curriculum. As always, we wrap things up with a Strange and Unusual Death, and this week’s is no exception.Wanna see us do some ghost hunting? Let's Not Meet

This week on The Grim Curriculum, we step away from the history books and into something a little more immediate, and a lot more unsettling. Drawing from Reddit’s “Let’s Not Meet” community, we explore a collection of real-life encounters that came far too close for comfort. These are moments where ordinary people found themselves face to face with something deeply wrong, situations that could have ended very differently with just one small change. From eerie gut feelings to narrow escapes, each story carries that lingering question: how close can you get to danger before you even realise you are in it?Featuring stories shared by Reddit users florianizer, SweatyEV, Banluil, ba_ko-s, and puddingtree, this episode is a reminder that sometimes the most chilling stories are the ones that almost happened.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumFollow us on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/thegrimcurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! Monster of the Miramichi: Allan Legere: Part 2

After escaping from custody, Legere unleashed a wave of violence that sent shockwaves through Miramichi and surrounding communities. Fear took hold quickly. Residents locked their doors, routines changed overnight, and at the height of the panic, Halloween celebrations were even cancelled as the community grappled with the very real threat he posed.Despite being physically strong, Legere repeatedly targeted vulnerable individuals. Senior citizens, isolated residents, and even members of the clergy were not safe from his attacks, adding another layer of fear and outrage to an already shaken community. In this episode, we examine the rampage, the response from law enforcement, and the atmosphere of terror that defined this chapter of the case, finally ending with his capture and final prison sentence. EXTRA CREDIT: Audacity, Conspiracies, and the Slowest Police Chase

Dina kicks things off with a case out of Utah involving Kouri Richins, who has now been sentenced. While the list of charges is extensive, we can’t help but feel like audacity should be included as well.Charlotte then takes us into conspiracy territory with the Phantom Time Conspiracy, a theory that raises eyebrows, asks questions, and ultimately makes very little sense, but still manages to make you go “hmmm.”Dina keeps things a little lighter with a recent story involving a slow moving, scaly reptile that somehow led to what might be the world’s slowest police chase.Charlotte brings us back to Canada with one of the country’s oldest unsolved mysteries, Jerome of Sandy Cove, a case that continues to puzzle people to this day. As always, we wrap things up with a Strange and Unusual Death. This week’s story involves another influencer, and while we won’t spoil anything, it’s safe to say this is not a way anyone would expect to go.Wanna see us do some ghost hunting? Monster of the Miramichi: Allan Legere: Part 1

This week on Grim Curriculum, we are beginning our deep dive into the life and crimes of Canadian serial killer Allan Legere, the man known as the “Monster of the Miramichi.” In Part One, we start at the beginning, tracing Legere’s early life in Miramichi, where the warning signs were already present. What unfolds is a story that grows darker with time, as troubling behaviour escalates quickly into something way more disturbing. This was a case we knew very little about until Legere’s recent death in March 2026, and what we uncovered was far worse than we expected. The 1917 Halifax Explosion

On the morning of December 6, 1917, a collision in the harbour of Halifax triggered a chain of events that would end in catastrophe. When the munitions ship SS Mont-Blanc exploded, the blast devastated the city and created one of the largest non-nuclear explosions ever recorded. In this episode, we unpack the moments leading up to the disaster, the shocking aftermath, and the incredible acts of bravery and selflessness that emerged from the chaos. EXTRA CREDIT: Crime, Chaos, and a Very Bad Game of UNO

Dina starts things off with a quick update on the case of the eleven year old boy who recently shot his father following an argument about a Nintendo Switch. She then follows it up with another tragic story out of Tipp City, Ohio, where a former worship leader and previous American Idol hopeful has been charged in the murder of his wife. To break up the heavier stories, Charlotte brings a few true crime cases that are strange enough they might actually have you giggling. Dina then brings things back into gruesome territory with a story involving an inmate who has inflicted some very serious injuries on himself, yet has still been deemed mentally fit to stand trial. Next up is a case involving an UNO game that got completely out of hand. And we mean way out of hand. Peter Stumpp - The Werewolf of Bedburg

This week on Grim Curriculum, we travel back to 16th century Germany to examine the chilling legend of Peter Stumpp, better known as the “Werewolf of Bedburg." A man known by several different names, Stumpp was accused of a catalogue of horrifying crimes. According to the accounts of the time, he was not only a serial killer and cannibal, but a man who could transform into a wolf and stalk the countryside in search of victims. His arrest in 1590 led to a brutal confession under torture and an execution that was meant to serve as a warning to others. But centuries later, historians are left wondering how much of the story is fact, and how much may have been shaped by fear, folklore, and the intense religious tensions of the era. Was Peter Stumpp truly the monstrous figure the authorities claimed, or was he something else entirely, a man caught in the crosshairs of superstition and persecution?Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel - Part 2

This week on Grim Curriculum, we return to the case of Anneliese Michel for Part Two. In this episode, we examine the exorcisms she endured, the physical toll they took, and the devastating final chapter of her life. What happened behind closed doors was not a single ritual, but a prolonged series of sanctioned rites carried out while her health continued to deteriorate. We then turn to the courtroom, where her parents and the priests involved were forced to answer for their decisions. The trial raised difficult questions about faith, medical responsibility, and where belief must give way to reason. We also explore a troubling modern reality, exorcisms are not relics of the past. In fact, they are reported to be more prevalent today than ever before. This is a case that leaves us angry, frustrated, and heartbroken. The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel - Part 1

The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel - Part 1This week on Grim Curriculum, we step into a case that sits at the crossroads of faith, fear, and fatal conviction, the exorcism of Anneliese Michel. In 1970s West Germany, a young woman’s suffering was interpreted not as illness, but as possession. As her condition worsened, those closest to her became convinced that what they were witnessing was not medical, but demonic. Rituals were performed. Prayers were repeated with increasing desperation. And intervention came not from medical professionals, but from the Church. What unfolded behind closed doors would shock a nation and eventually the world and leave a haunting question in everyone's minds, when belief overrides reason, who pays the price?Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! EVEN MORE Lesser know Cryptids

This week on Grim Curriculum, we’re taking a break from the heavy stuff and diving back into one of our favourite palette cleanser topics, even more lesser known cryptids. These episodes give us the perfect excuse to explore the stranger, sillier, and more mysterious corners of folklore without the usual grim weight. From eerie encounters to downright bizarre sightings, this week’s lineup is full of creatures that do not get nearly enough attention. We’re chatting about the Skrimsl from Iceland, the unsettling Mantis Man from New Jersey, and the legendary Sheepsquatch said to roam West Virginia and the wider Appalachia. Dina brings one from her own neck of the woods with Šumske Dekle, while Charlotte has a new personal favourite, the bizarre mystery of the UB-85 Monstrosity. EXTRA CREDIT: Skiing Witches, Atomic Martinis and Gruesome Crimes

This week on Extra Credit, we’re bouncing between updates, history, and stories that sound too strange to be real.We start with an update from a previous Extra Credit episode. A Michigan woman who pretended to be a registered nurse has now been sentenced to prison time. We break down the sentence and want to hear from you. Was the punishment fair, too harsh, or not nearly enough?Dina then brings a developing and particularly gruesome case out of Derby in the UK. A woman has been accused of killing her girlfriend using a horse figurine. As shocking as that sounds, it is somehow not the most unbelievable part of the story.Charlotte lightens the mood with a look at a winter tradition from Switzerland involving skiing witches. We dig into the folklore behind the celebration and the original witch whose legend inspired the tradition in the first place.Dina follows with Nuclear Tourism 101. Believe it or not, one of the more popular activities in 1950s Las Vegas was watching nuclear detonations, martini in hand. What happens in Vegas might stay in Vegas, but the atomic fallout certainly did not.Charlotte then takes us through some famous riots from history that began for reasons so bizarre they almost sound fictional. As always, we wrap things up with a Strange and Unusual Death. The Last Man Hanged in Alberta - Robert Raymond Cook

Robert Raymond Cook is remembered as the last man executed in Alberta, and one of the most controversial figures in Canadian criminal history. In 1959, Cook was arrested for the murder of his 7 family members but only convicted of one; the murder of his father, Raymond Cook, whose body was found shot inside the family home in Stettler, Alberta. The case against Cook was largely circumstantial, built on inconsistencies in his statements, forensic evidence that was later questioned, and a confession he claimed was coerced after prolonged police interrogation.Cook maintained his innocence throughout his trial and right up to his execution. Despite appeals and growing public unease about the reliability of the evidence, after less than a year on death row, he was hanged on November 30, 1960 at the Fort Saskatchewan jail. He was just 22 years old.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! We are diving into the infamous Club Kids scene of 1990s New York and the shocking murder that brought it all crashing down. Michael Alig was once the self proclaimed king of the Club Kids, a group known for outrageous fashion, excess, and a nightlife built on spectacle and drugs. But behind the glitter and chaos was a darker reality. In 1996, Alig and his associates murdered fellow club kid and drug dealer Angel Melendez, a crime that would expose the violence, paranoia, and moral decay beneath the surface of the scene. In this episode, we trace Alig’s rise to fame, the culture that enabled his behaviour, and the events leading up to Angel Melendez’s death. We also examine how fame, addiction, and unchecked ego collided with devastating consequences, turning a party scene into a true crime nightmare.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! EXTRA CREDIT: Deadpool Killer Glow Downs, Laundromat Horror and Other Unhinged Stories

Today’s Extra Credit is stacked with some of the most unhinged stories we’ve covered in a while. We kick things off by talking about Wade Wilson, also known as the “Deadpool Killer”, and his dramatic change in appearance. For those who were disturbingly drawn to him for his looks, the glow down may be hard to ignore, even if the crimes never should have been. Next, we turn our attention to Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic athlete turned alleged drug kingpin. After his arrest in Mexico, Wedding is now in the United States awaiting trial. As of this episode’s release, he has entered a plea of not guilty. Dina then brings a shocking case out of Pennsylvania involving an eleven year old boy arrested for an extremely serious crime, one that could result in life-long incarceration. Charlotte follows with a deeply disturbing case from the UK. A 56 year old woman from Gloucestershire, and mother of ten, has been found guilty of modern day slavery and abuse after holding a vulnerable woman captive in her home for more than twenty years. Things somehow escalate further when Dina delivers a jaw dropping case involving a man dismembered at a laundromat. If you think that sounds like the peak of chaos, you would be very wrong. With Dina’s uranium glass collection glowing in the studio, Charlotte briefly lightens the mood with a crash course in science, offering a quick History of Radium Emanators 101. Dina then takes us to Seattle and the infamous McDonald’s known as “McStabby’s”, a location so notorious its reputation alone might make you rethink a late night Quarter Pounder run. As always, we wrap up Extra Credit with a Strange and Unusual Death. This week’s story is both bizarre and cautionary, serving as a reminder to stay well clear of flying livestock near railways.Wanna see us do some ghost hunting? Hadden Clark - Part Two: When the Rot Is Revealed

In the final part of our series on Hadden Clark, the story moves out of the shadows and into the public eye. This episode follows Clark’s arrest and the investigation that finally brought his crimes to light. After the murder of a woman whose mother believed Hadden deserved a second chance, investigators knew they could not afford to let him walk free again. What followed was a long and frustrating investigation. Clark was deliberately uncooperative, evasive, and often openly obnoxious, doing everything he could to derail the process. But eventually, the persona known as “Kristen” emerged, and with it came cracks in Hadden's story. Little by little, the truth began to surface. Hadden Clark - Part One: The Beginning of Something Rotten

In Episode 185, we begin a new series on Hadden Clark, a man known to many as the cross-dressing cannibal. As we always do, we start at the beginning. This first chapter focuses on Clark’s parents, his family lineage, and the environment that shaped his early life. Hadden was one of four siblings, and he would not be the only one in the family to find himself on a very dark path. On the surface, his upbringing appeared stable, even respectable. But beneath that polished exterior was a household marked by dysfunction, secrecy, and deeply troubling dynamics. Clark’s story raises uncomfortable questions about nature versus nurture. Was violence always there, waiting to surface, or was it cultivated over time through trauma and instability? As we dig into his childhood and family history, it becomes clear that whatever the answer, the foundation was far from healthy. This is only the start. And it is anything but sunshine and rainbows.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! Extra Credit: From Citizen Arrests to Cemetery Thefts

We start with the upcoming documentary on Wade Wilson, a murderer known for his violence against women who, unbelievably, still has online fangirls. From there, we move into the recent death of Mr. Doyle, the man best known for his citizen’s arrest of serial killer Charles Ng. Charlotte then dives into the bizarre case of Jonathan Christian Gerlach, a modern day “Igor” accused of grave robbing and facing hundreds of charges connected to stolen human remains. Dina follows with a story that feels like it could only come out of Florida. Susan Avalon has allegedly shot and killed two ex-husbands, both in December, in a case that is as shocking as it is tragic. We also take a quick look at a few local cases heading to trial in early 2026, including the Calgary man accused of tunnelling into his neighbour’s home. Dina brings an Ohio case involving drugs sent to a bank in a very unconventional way, proving that criminals do not always choose the most logical route. As always, we wrap up Extra Credit with a strange and unusual death. This week’s case follows a man who defied death again and again, only to finally meet his end in a way neither he nor you would expect.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! Ruth Snyder: Love, Betrayal, and Old Sparky

In this week’s episode, we travel back to the 1920s, a time of speakeasies, jazz, and newspaper headlines has jaws dropping everyday. At the centre of one of New York's most sensational stories was Ruth Snyder, a suburban housewife whose plan to be rid of her husband set off a chain of events that would shock the public and change crime reporting forever. We walk through Ruth’s marriage to Albert Snyder, the sordid affair with corset salesman Henry Judd Gray, and the clumsy murder plot that spiralled into front-page scandal. And of course, we couldn't talk about this case without mentioning the infamous hidden-camera photograph that captured Ruth’s final moments in the electric chair, an image that became one of the most recognisable crime photos of the twentieth century.Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosExtra Credit Every Second Wednesday at at 12pm (mst)!https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_u7l4tepCoX4zW6PW05-Oyo703LL7wx5&si=sUvQwGsOJNFIymELWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! This week we recap the biggest case updates of the year and where they stand now.We start with the Menendez brothers and the latest developments in their parole hearings. We then revisit Brian Kohberger, whose case has concluded and who is now serving his sentence, and we talk about life behind bars so far. We discuss the shocking allegations that Victoria Goodwin plotted to have her husband, Aaron Goodwin of Ghost Adventures, murdered by hiring a hitman. We also touch on Yolanda Saldívar’s most recent parole denial in the decades-old murder of Selena. We cover the escape, and very fast recapture, of Morgan Geyser from the “Slenderman stabbing” case. This attempt at freedom from her group home did her no favours and has only complicated things further. This week’s Extra Credit episode covers a wide range of recent and unsettling cases. We begin with the shocking murders of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, and the early details that have emerged in what has become a deeply tragic family case. We also cover the extraordinary discovery of a decades old child abduction, where a woman kidnapped by her mother more than 40 years ago was finally found after a cold case was reopened and a crucial tip came in. EXTRA CREDIT: Cold Case Breakthroughs, Fake Abductions, and Fabergé Eggs

This week’s Extra Credit opens with an in-depth discussion on the Canadian moose, an unexpectedly educational start that you are welcome to skip ahead about five minutes if you want to jump straight into the true crime. We begin with an update on Ryan Wedding, a name longtime listeners may recognize. Since we last covered him, he has managed to climb even further in the criminal world, and not in a way anyone should be proud of. From there, we discuss the recent escape of Morgan Geyser, known for the Slender Man stabbing case, after she fled from her group home placement. We then bring things closer to home with a story out of Alberta. In 2003, a Lethbridge city councillor claimed she was abducted during a business trip, but the truth turned out to be far more complicated. Next, we share a rare bit of justice, with a decades-old cold case finally solved through DNA. The 40-year-old murder of Rhonda Marie Fisher has now been linked to one of Colorado’s most prolific serial killers. We also somehow ended up with two stories about Fabergé eggs in the same episode, which is not something we ever expected, but here we are. As always, we close out with Strange and Unusual Deaths. Dennis Nilsen: Part Two – The Kindly Killer

We’re back with Part Two of our series on Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen, and things are only getting darker. In this episode, we begin discussing his first murders and the disturbing ways his behaviour began to escalate. Nilsen was unlike most serial killers in one very unexpected respect; he didn’t actually enjoy killing his victims. We explore why that was, and how his warped sense of control and obsession drove his actions to even more gruesome extremes.Quite frankly he made our skin crawl in part one and this episode doesn’t let that feeling fade. Just think of the smell....Come hang out with us on YouTube on Saturdays at 12pm (mst)! https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrimCurriculum/videosWatch the video episode on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/c/TheGrimCurriculumPUT OUR MERCH ON YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR HOMEthegrimcurriculum.threadless.comTell YOUR stories on the next episode of Grim Encounters! Dennis Nilsen: Part One – The Kindly Killer

We’re kicking off a new series on Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Also known as “The Kindly Killer,” Nilsen’s story is as unsettling as it is fascinating and this series is going to get particularly weird and gruesome as we go along. In Part One, we’re not yet diving into the murders themselves, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t strange already. From his isolated childhood to his time in the army and his complicated relationship with identity and loneliness, the groundwork for what’s to come is already deeply disturbing. Oh and we should warn you, nothing Nilsen says is worth taking at face value because oh boy does he like to change his story.
