    JR Aduddell: The Beauty of Shared Challenges

    JR Aduddell is a former Marine CH-53D Avionicsman who served from 1997 to 2006. He was a standout at HMH-463 and became an Aerial Observer (AO), which helped him gain a deeper appreciation for his role in Avionics.JR and John served together at 463 and became part of a tightly knit group of maintainers and flyers. Developing young leaders to carry on the traditions they learned from were among their greatest joys and successes.     Danny Mears, Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt.) and Superintendent with the Air National Guard's 139th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, joins John Logsdon and Craig to discuss the importance of attention to detail in aviation maintenance.     The Story of Alec Langen and Tiger 43 with Steve Langen

    This opens with several minutes of CH-53 and general aviation talk.Steve Langen, former Marine CH-53 crew chief and father of Alec Langen, shares his family's history in the Marine CH-53 community, and the tragedy that took Alec's life aboard a CH-53. Alec was the senior crew chief on board Tiger 43, the HMH-361 CH-53E that crashed in the mountains east of San Diego late the night of February 6th, 2024. Thanks to Steve exposing him to aviation at a young age, Alec got to live his dream as a Marine CH-53 crew chief.     Matthew Crooks: Marine CH-53 Crew Chief, Father, Top Performing Realtor

    Matthew enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps following his graduation from Cactus Shadows High School in 2003. He served with HMH-362 throughout the South Pacific as well as the Naval Aviation Headquarters conducting test and evaluation flights on CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters. Matthew completed 14 months in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and later participated in the development of the CH-53K King Stallion. Following his first combat deployment, he was awarded the Marine Corps' prestigious “Enlisted Aircrew Member” of the year. Matthew most recently served as a recruiter and his station led the state of Arizona in enlisting new Marines. Matthew married his high school sweetheart, Ashley, in 2008. They currently reside in Gilbert, AZ with their 12-year-old daughter, Kaylee, 4-year-old daughter, Campbell, and 2-year-old son, Caden.     Cris Sanchez: Marine CH-53 Flight Equipment Turned Airbus Instructor and Father

    Cris' 20-plus-year aviation career began as a Marine Corps Flight Equipment technician maintaining helmets and flight gear for pilots and aircrew. He then transitioned into a CH-53E mechanic performing in-depth depot level maintenance, where he developed rapidly as an aircraft maintainer. That's also where I met him, around 2007. He later joined Airbus and excelled enough to become a Senior Manager of Technical Training. Cris is one of the funniest people I've had the pleasure of working with, and he's known for bringing great energy, focus and enthusiasm into all environments.

    John Logsdon: What Is It Like Being a Marine CH-53 Helicopter Crew Chief?

    John Logsdon is a 12-year Marine Corps veteran who served from 1994 to 2006. John got his start as an F-18 power line mechanic and transitioned into the role of CH-53D Crew Chief, Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI), Flight Line Supervisor and Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR). He served with HMH-366, HMT-301 and HMH-463. He flew 2,232 hours, 1,213 of those on night vision goggles (NVGs). John now resides in Wisconsin where he owns and operates WeldCo Custom Fab, a hot rod shop specializing in high end custom classic cars with clients from across the country.
