On Grief - with Paul Sain
Grief is something every preacher encounters—not only in the lives of the people we serve, but eventually in our own lives as well. How can we better walk alongside those who are grieving? And what happens when the preacher becomes the one who needs comfort?Robert is joined by longtime gospel preacher and publisher Paul Sain for a personal conversation about grief. Drawing from his own experiences of walking alongside his wife, LaDon, through Alzheimer’s disease and ultimately through the pain of losing her, Paul shares lessons he has learned about sorrow, caregiving, encouragement, and the importance of simply being present for people who hurt. This conversation offers encouragement for preachers who regularly minister to grieving families while also reminding us that ministers are not immune to grief themselves. Sometimes the person who spends so much time comforting others must learn how to receive comfort, too.Resources[Book] Our Journey Down Alzheimer’s Lane by Paul Sain — Paul shares lessons learned from his and LaDon’s journey through Alzheimer’s, including practical help for those caring for someone they love.[Book] My Journey Facing Grief Mountain by Paul Sain — A companion to Our Journey Down Alzheimer’s Lane focusing on Paul’s experience of facing grief.[Cards] Burden Bearing Cards — Cards designed to make it easier to reach out and encourage people who are carrying difficult burdens. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

10 Things I Want To Tell My Girls (Authentically Adam S14E3)
What are the things every father wants his daughters to know?In this episode of Authentically Adam, Wayne shares ten lessons he hopes his girls will carry with them throughout their lives. The greatest hope a Christian father can have for his daughters is that they remain faithful to God—and that one day, the entire family will be together in heaven. An episode for fathers, daughters, and anyone who understands just how special that relationship can be. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Love and Respect
In this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, we continue our journey through Ephesians 5 by exploring two foundational qualities God calls husbands and wives to cultivate in marriage: love and respect. Paul points us back to Christ and the church as the pattern for our marriages, showing us that a husband’s biblical love is meant to look like Christ’s compassionate, sacrificial leadership, while a wife’s respect is not rooted in fear or intimidation, but in reverence for the God-given role her husband has been called to fulfill. This episode considers what it looks like to respect our husbands in the everyday moments of marriage—not belittling, nagging, gossiping about, comparing, or making them the punchline, but instead encouraging, honoring, and building them up.For husbands, the calling is equally high: love your wives as Christ loved the church. That means sacrificially protecting, cherishing, nourishing, and pursuing what is ultimately good and holy for your wife and your family. When husbands love like Christ and wives respect and submit as to the Lord, marriage becomes a beautiful picture of Christ and His church. In a culture that so often distorts God’s design for marriage, we are challenged to be intentional about living differently—to fix our eyes on Jesus, resist the patterns that undermine our homes, and faithfully fulfill the roles God has given us. The goal is not simply to have a successful marriage, but to use our marriages to show the world who Christ is and how deeply He loves His people. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Five Things Members Wish Their Preachers Knew - with Hiram Kemp
Preachers spend considerable time thinking about what their congregations need to hear—but how often do they consider what it is like to listen from the pew?Robert is joined by Hiram Kemp to discuss his article, “5 Things Members Wish Their Preachers Knew.” Together, they explore how preachers can communicate biblical truth with greater clarity, compassion, practicality, and hope.In this episode:Bible study is difficult for some members—and many are sincerely trying.Scholarship should clarify Scripture rather than confuse listeners.Members need to know that their preacher struggles too.Biblical preaching should connect Scripture to everyday life.Every sermon should ultimately point people to Jesus and offer hope. This conversation encourages preachers to step away from the pulpit for a moment, consider the perspective of those in the pew, and remember that preachers and members are working toward the same goal.ResourcesRead “5 Things Members Wish Their Preachers Knew”Subscribe to Hiram Kemp’s Words for Our Time ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Ending The Shift (Authentically Adam S14E2)
Blame-shifting is nothing new. In fact, it’s as old as sin itself. In this episode of Authentically Adam, Wayne uses Major League Baseball’s decision to “end the shift” as a starting point for a much more important discussion: our tendency to shift responsibility when our decisions go wrong.Scripture gives us three memorable examples. Adam blamed Eve—and indirectly God—for his sin. Aaron blamed the people for the golden calf and offered the almost comical explanation that he threw the gold into the fire and “out came this calf.” King Saul insisted he had obeyed God while blaming the people for the parts of God’s command he ignored.Different men. Different circumstances. Same problem.Blame-shifting often reveals something deeper: we have abandoned the responsibility God gave us and allowed the pressures, desires, fears, or expectations of others to rule our hearts. For men called to lead in their homes, churches, and communities, ending the shift requires three things:• Take responsibility — Own your decisions and actions.• Limit your empathy — Don’t allow the emotions and expectations of others to replace conviction.• Let God rule again — Allow His truth, rather than pressure or passion, to direct your heart.Mature leadership begins when we stop explaining away our failures and start owning them. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Headship and Submission
In this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, we take a closer look at one of the most contested aspects of God’s design for marriage: headship and submission. Looking at Ephesians 5 alongside the example of Christ, we see that biblical headship is not about control, domination, or having the loudest voice—it is about sacrificial leadership, protection, provision, gentleness, nourishment, and care. Husbands are called to model their leadership after Christ, who loved the church enough to give Himself for her.Wives are called to model their submission after Christ, who willingly humbled Himself and submitted to the Father’s will. Submission does not mean weakness, silence, having no opinions, or obeying a husband when he asks us to disobey God. Rather, it is a willing posture of humility and service rooted first in our submission to Christ. Through examples like Abigail, Esther, and others, we see that godly submission can coexist with wisdom, strength, courage, and action.Ultimately, God’s design gives husbands and wives different roles while maintaining equal value before Him. As we seek to live out those roles faithfully, may our marriages become places where Christ is seen more clearly—through sacrificial headship, willing submission, and a shared desire to do things God’s way. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Controlling Our Passions (Authentically Adam S14E1)
We’ve heard plenty of warnings about controlling our passions—especially when it comes to lust and sexual temptation. But what if the biblical conversation about passion is much bigger than that?In the Season 14 premiere of Authentically Adam, Wayne explores how our passions include the desires, fears, anger, impulses, and emotions that influence how we respond to life. Passions aren’t always sinful, but they aren’t always trustworthy either. Left unchecked, they can control our reactions, shape our attitudes, and even drive us toward passivity, isolation, worry, and frustration.Using examples from David and Elijah, along with biblical teaching from Romans, Ephesians, Titus, 1 Thessalonians, and 1 Peter, this episode considers how godly men can understand and properly direct their passions. The goal isn’t simply to suppress what we feel. Instead, our passions must be ruled by a mind that is itself ruled by God.Three qualities can help us get there:• Clarity of mind — 1 Thessalonians 5:4–8• Stability of soul — Titus 2:2• Readiness to act — 1 Peter 1:13Godly masculinity isn’t passionless. It is passion brought under the rule of God.Episode Resources:"Leadership and Emotional Sabotage" by Joe Rignely ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Belonging to One Another
Marriage is designed by God to be more than simply two people sharing a life—it is two becoming one. In this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, we explore what it means for husbands and wives to truly belong to one another, embracing the unique closeness, trust, vulnerability, and intimacy God intended for marriage. This intimacy is not merely physical; it encompasses the merging of our lives, goals, finances, emotions, and even our autonomy as we move from “me” to “us.” When cultivated with mutual honor, care, and respect, this unique bond becomes a beautiful gift that provides safety, security, and connection within the marriage.Ultimately, our marriages are not about us—they are about glorifying God and helping one another see Christ more clearly. We consider what it means to honor our spouse, serve rather than control, protect the sacredness of marital intimacy, and resist the ways the world has distorted God’s good design. Whether your marriage is thriving or hurting, this episode is an encouragement to pursue God’s pattern for becoming one and to pray for marriages around us. May our marriages point both our spouses and the watching world toward the love of Christ and His church. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Leaving and Cleaving
In this episode, we go back to Genesis 2 to explore God’s foundational design for marriage: leaving father and mother, holding fast to your spouse, and becoming one flesh. “Leaving” doesn’t mean abandoning or dishonoring your parents—it means recognizing that marriage creates a new family that should be prioritized. We can bring the good things we learned from our families of origin into our marriages, but we must build our own home together rather than simply continuing the traditions and expectations we grew up with. And leaving and cleaving isn’t just a decision we make on our wedding day. Throughout every season of marriage, we have opportunities to choose our spouse, cling to one another, and keep other voices in their proper place. Wise counsel from parents and others can be a blessing, but ultimately our marriage belongs to us, our spouse, and God. Because marriage is meant to reflect Christ and His church, we are called to continually choose each other, protect our union, and hold fast to the one God has joined us to. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

When Jesus cried, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He was not simply describing a moment—He was revealing a way of life. Wholly Bright
In this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily Hatfield walks through Luke 11:33-36 and challenges Christian women to examine whether their faith is truly shining from the inside out. Jesus calls His followers to be “wholly bright” — not merely outwardly religious, but genuinely transformed by hearts that are fully seeking Him.Emily explores the contrast between sincere discipleship and the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, reminding listeners that God desires wholehearted followers whose inner devotion matches their outward profession.
