Recently I rediscovered this long lost vinyl Jam, recorded around 20 years ago during a recovery session sometime in the mid 2000's Featuring tracks from the early 90's through til the year 2000. It's full of classic tunes from the golden era of trance alongside some well and lesser known House & Rave anthems , many of which I still love to this day. Big Thank you to the Valley Doof crew for an awesome weekend. You guys had every base covered and it was great catching up with ya'll and making some new connections as well. I jumped up to play some Techno just after Midnight. With the heat of the day gone, I thought I would bump up the tempo a little and let the crowd dictate the direction of the sound. I ended up dropping a fairly eclectic set, that on paper probably shouldn't work. But.... “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” and when layered correctly opposites definitely do attract. Since 2017, Esoteric has become a staple on the Australian festival calendar. Held over the Labour Day weekend, the event attracts over 7000 people showcasing Music, Art & Workshops across 7 Stages. 2024 was my 6th year performing on the Ascension Stage and It's always one of the highlights of my year. Big Thanks to Mike and his extended team for the incredible job they do consistently presenting us with quality artists and world class stage production. Like most years, Saturday's Psytrance line up was huge. Magik kicked off the evening followed by Hypnocoustics, Braincell, Scorb, Banjhaks, Farebi Jalebi, Farseer, Wiser with myself and Megapixel welcoming the morning. It was a real thrill playing the Sunrise Set after such an epic night of tunes. Following a truly mind bending set from Wiser, I kicked off with a track from Lunarave giving the crowd a much needed moment to reset and catch their breath. From there I continued with a selection of psychedelic tunes, slowly increasing the energy to peak just as daylight was poking over the horizon. Nearing the end of my set I wanted to include a Space Tribe track as a small tribute to the great man before finishing with something from his long time collaborator the one & only Electric Universe. This month I opened the night with a Vinyl techno set full of some of my favourite tunes I've collected during the last couple of years. Most tunes throughout the mix have a warehouse vibe with plenty of acid lines layered throughout. Hey guys, Here is my closing set from this years edition of Sunshine Gathering in Melbourne, Australia. Once again the Contact High crew delivered a really awesome event. It was great to see the one and only Electric Universe again who as expected played a stellar set that was enjoyed by all. Once again I was tasked with closing the night. Last weekend Mindhertz dropped into the PBS studio's to drop a special live set on "The BPM Show" with Simon Sez. Dan is no stranger to the Australian Psychedelic scene. From the Yarra Valley in Victoria. He was first introduced into the Aussie Doof Community in 2002, becoming instantly hooked by the outdoor sound. In 2005 he started writing his own brand of slamming full on 150 bpm melodic Psy/Goa Trance under the name Mindhertz. His music is best described as a true trance experience with no stop/start bullshit. Full power from start to finish with deep driving baselines, twisted melody's and spooky atmospheres with a unique energetic edge. Big thanks to Matty, Jade & the whole crew involved in this years Return to the Source. Set in a beautiful location just north of Melbourne, it was a great gathering with a diverse bunch of artists all bringing something different to the table. After a blasting Psytrance session throughout the first night, I played the final set closing the stage the stage from 5 to 6am. Following on from Cyan, I tried to keep the psychedelic energy flowing as the sun slowly rose. As 6am approached I'd planned to finish up on a Goa vibe with a couple of classic tracks from Electric Universe & Hypnoxock. However with good vibes all around & no official word to stop the tunes, the stage kept running for an extra 90 mins. After about 100 minutes of pretty blasting Psytrance. I decided to flip the mood on it's head. Starting with a classic track from DnB maestro Amit, I then proceeded to work my way through some of the more psychedelic Techno I happened to have with me. Needless to say the good times continued setting the mood for the awesome day ahead. I had a blast playing my set, mad respect goes out to all those rocking out right til the end. Some live with disabilities, mental illnesses and other medical conditions, while others might be caring for someone with a disability or illness. We may have financial issues. And some of us might just be feeling a bit lost, and we’re still trying to find our way. But if there is one thing that we would love everyone to take away from this party, its that we cannot allow ourselves to disconnect! This party is not just about reconnecting with old friends. It’s also a chance to reconnect with ourselves, and take back control of our lives. Take some time to remember all the things that used to make you happy, we all get too caught up in life’s worries sometimes that we forget to take some time out for ourselves! Take some time to RECONNECT with life! Go smell a flower. Call a friend just to say gday! Say hi to a stranger in the street. Go out tomorrow and do something crazy just for a laugh! Hey guys, Here is a Hard House/Dance jam I recorded way back in 2003. This mix was just a jam session that I happened to record at home. There's a lot of Tidy & Tidy Two tracks in there so not a great deal of variation. Either way just I though I'd share it. At the time Melbourne's weekly club scene was really strong. On the Friday alone you had @tmosphere (Roxannes,) Hard Kandy (Billboards) & Bass Station (CBD Bar)all pulling big numbers week in week out. Each had a dedicated following and distinct sound synonymous with the night. For many years I attended all 3 more times that i can count. Overall it was Hard Kandy I ended up at the most. At some point I saw many of the artists from this mix perform there and many big nights were had. As the years ticked over and Hard House slowly turned into hard Dance, my tastes drifted more towards Techno, Acid & Psytrance. I still have a large archive of my Promo mixes, Event Recordings & random jams recorded as JFX during the Vinyl era. Each mix was numbered from #1 up to somewhere in the 90's and spanned genres like Hard Trance, Acid techno, Hard House, Tek Trance, 90's Rave, Trance & Techno. Thomas P Heckmann aka DRAX would be one of my all time favourite artists and definitely one of my biggest overall inspirations. Roughly 30 years into his career he is still going strong. Exclusively from his bandcamp his limited vinyl releases routinely sell out during the presale stage. Which he then labels & posts all around the globe himself. Last weekend saw the 4th Industrial Jungle take place a few hrs outta Melbourne. I wanna send a huge thanks to UE & Crew for all the hard work putting the event together. With some testing conditions to deal with no amount of rain could dampen the superb vibe you guys create. It's great to add this year to the awesome memories from the first 3 parties all those years ago and I actually still have the little spanner everyone got at the 2nd or 3rd installment of Industrial . Thank you for asking me to perform at each event it's definatly a gathering I have a special place for and it's always great catching up with all you guys. Gotta say as expected the music was exceptional all weekend. This year my set was scheduled for Sunday afternoon. After much thought about what direction to take the music it so late in the party. I decided to drop about 3 or 4 bpm's off my usual pace and give it one last psychedelic blast before Smilk & Evoka rounded out day with a mesmerizing session of groovy & hypnotic beats. High Five & much respect to all those rocking out in the crowd. Collectively the energy was pulsing. I really had a blast cranking out my set & having all those smiles beaming back really makes a fun thing that much better.
