The Pentagon needed the department's 1950s-era Mack Ladder Truck 16 because it was small enough to fit through a 10-foot entrance and into the Pentagon's inner courtyard. A crew from Woodsboro answered that call and headed for Washington. Strawsbaugh shares what he remembers from September 11, 2001, how the Woodsboro volunteers became part of the massive response at the Pentagon, and the story of the old fire truck that became known as “the little truck that could.” The crew spent roughly 13 hours at the Pentagon helping contain the fire and working alongside first responders from across the region.
