Less is more. Get rid of the junk that is in your way (hint: it’s not just things)

Why do we have so much stuff that makes us happy for a moment and creates work for us for YEARS after? Can simplifying your life (stuff, activities, work, things, etc.) really give you more? Marie Kondo, the Minimal Mom, Amy Tucker (Salty Britches), and your grandparents have lived life with a lot less. However, advertisements and manufacturers have convinced us we need more things to do, clean, cook with, take care of, maintain, pay for, upgrade, etc. and guess what??? Next year that phone that you HAD TO HAVE is so obsolete you should add more payments to your phone bill in order to keep up with whomever Hollywood says is the next thing… Folks: life is meant to be lived, not purchased. Let’s get into it.

    Traditions on the Gold Coast

In todays episode, we will dive into a tradition that has been passed down the generations even before the English settlers arrived in Maryland- Hunting. Not done now as a necessity for survival, but more as a sporting hobby in many areas. Here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland it has been a long time tradition as well as a business for many, whether directly or indirectly. From restaurants, to farmers leasing land to hunters, the other various small businesses (ie. lodging, gas stations, guide services, meat/game processing shops, grocery stores, gun shops, outdoor stores, you get the picture) all benefit in some way to the enterprise of hunting.  But that is not our focus on this episode. The Next EDventure that we are going on today is more about the memories made with my children (both young adults now, each in their own right) and enjoying the experience. Regardless on your views and how they relate to hunting and firearms, we can all agree that certain family traditions can easily become the next EDventure if you step back and enjoy the moment. Be present in THIS moment. And when you are doing that next trip, or experiencing a family tradition i hope you can take a moment and shift your perspective and if you are lucky it can be your next EDventure. Peace and Blessings, enjoy the podcast.

    Breaking it down... (S1, E2)

On this weeks episode of The Next EDventure we are going to break it down a bit more and unpack as to what direction the podcast will takes us. Both the traditional and less conventional ideas of EDventure: International and local mission and humanitarian work- check, hiking/camping/scouting- check, fishing/hunting/boating- check, food and local business spotlights- check, and all the other ideas that we haven't discussed yet. If we find it interesting and  we can make it EDventurous, then we are going to take action, break camp, and be bold in finding the Next EDventure.
