Since James chapter 2 is important, I also addressed the controversies circling James's and Paul’s respective theologies. Update: July 27, 2024

I have endeavored to research the Book of James to determine some of the history of the book, the issues the early church had with the book, and the conflict between Paul and James concerning justification (faith and works). I am working on the research, and research takes time. This will be at least five episodes, maybe more. So, the remainder of this year will be mostly about the book of James, but, I can assure you it will be an interesting ride.

Episode 17: I'm Not Sacrificing That!

Sacrifice is usually not something we enjoy. We sacrifice time with family to work and make money. Some sacrifice their ethics and morals to make more money; some seem to sacrifice everything and still end up with nothing. God demands sacrifice from His people but sacrificing for God always benefits the believer. The unfortunate thing is many don’t understand that anymore. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onesimuscollective/message

Episode 16: Suffer the Little Children

This week we will hear a story about a little boy. Not a lot of detail is given, but we gather he is from the inner city and drugs and alcohol affect his life in horrible ways. For a small boy, he comes across as gritty and tough. However, he is just a little boy who needs Jesus. What do you think of when you hear the word “Crusades?” Do you think of knights with big red crosses across their chests or the senseless killing in the name of the Cross of Christ? By the way, except for many of those doing the fighting, the Crusades were not about the Cross of Christ. We will also talk a little about the science of soteriology, which studies the doctrine of salvation as well as the importance of the Book of Genesis in God’s plan of salvation. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onesimuscollective/message

    Episode 11: These Dreams

In this episode, I will discuss two dreams I have had in my life. One when I was a child, the other more recently. No, this is not hocus-pocus or netherworld thinking. It begins and ends with Jesus, but you will have to listen to see how it shakes out. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onesimuscollective/message

Episode 10: A Narration of “The 26 Guards”

This week, we look, for a moment, into 2 Kings to see God’s flaming army at work. As well, we will present a narration of a story known as “The 26 Guards.” A story suspected of being fictional but inspiring just the same. Hope you enjoy it, and please let us know what you think. Episode 9: "The Prayer"

In this episode, there will be a discussion of what Scripture says about becoming a Christian. As well, “the prayer” prayed by preachers, in their streaming or recorded messages, as well as by well-meaning children’s ministry workers, will be considered. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onesimuscollective/message

    Episode 8: A God-Centered God

Just because we might think we are autonomous persons doesn’t mean God won’t intervene in our lives and use us for His purpose. In this episode, we will briefly discuss a man named Cyrus whom God commissioned, without Cyrus’s knowledge, to help Israel. The question is, why? Well, it comes down to God’s focus on God’s glory - we will talk about that as well. Bibliography Rigney, Joe. “Why God Does Everything He Does.” Desiring God (blog).
