The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Máire Durkan: Friggswoman, Heathen Minister, Author, & Green Witch
Send us Fan MailNEW🌙🦋💐Tune in with the extraordinary Máire Durkan as we uncover the power & magick of Frigg and her sovereign council of 12 allied goddesses!🌙✨Máire Durkan is an interfaith hospital chaplain, certified birth doula, ordained inclusive Heathen minister, Green Witch, and dedicated Friggswoman (devotee of the goddess Frigg). She serves as Clergy Coordinator for The Troth, one of the oldest international inclusive Heathen organizations. She specializes in creating and leading inclusive rituals and workshops rooted in intersectional feminist spirituality. Her latest book, Frigg’s Twelvefold Flame: Creating Justice and Healing with the Goddess and Her Court (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2026), explores how connecting with Frigg and her council of allied goddesses can support personal growth, justice and healing.Máire’s early beginnings took place in the countryside of Wilmington, Delaware with older siblings and spending a lot of time in the woods immersed in Nature and reading books by JRR Tolkien and others. Later in life, a Heathen ritual or Blot at the Free Spirit Gathering in Maryland, to the Norse God Týr made a powerful impression on Máire. She describes the Galdr or chanting was about victory through sacrifice to the rune of Tiwaz which is about justice, leadership, honor and sacrifice. Máire was changed by this spiritual experience. She was also writing about Norse Goddesses Frigg, Freya and God Odin at the time too. The Divine Feminine was very important to Máire and she was drawn to Frigg the All Mother and wife to Odin who resonated with her.Máire began incorporating Frigg’s symbols of the Heron, Spinning Wheel, and Spindle to connect with Frigg’s energy with her Heathen community: The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel, they do Aspecting as part of their rituals.. She started feeling at home with her and really clicked with Frigg. The nurturing, caring, weaving of respectful harmony and uniting communities are all part of Frigg’s All Mother attributes. Máire was inspired to write her book: Frigg’s Twelvefold Flame: Creating Justice and Healing with the Goddess and Her Court because of the challenging times we live in and the urging of Frigg and her 12 allied Goddesses that she works with each carrying a different aspect of Frigg’s power and presence with shared leadership and collaborative sovereignty. . Neo-Pagans, Heathens, Wiccans and their communities embrace inclusivity and eco sustainability as part of their great work. Maire’s book became a call to activism since Goddess Frigg stands for action, justice, care, foresight and responsibility for others as well as the Divine Feminine spirit. Maire tells us that Frigg encourages us to really examine whats beneath the surface and look at the root causes of injustice and oppression and then navigate the complexities with intention. We can lead with both care and strategy and look at the long game. Frigg reframes activism with sacred care work such as advocacy, community support for the under served, which matters as much as policy change. Máire ends our episode with a short invocation to Frigg - Lady of the Keys - for a call to action for justice work and creating positive change in the world where all beings are valued and respected. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Yesbelt Fernandez: Tarot Teacher/Reader, Lunar Guide & Author
Send us Fan MailDive into the New Moon Yesspiral system blending Lunar Cycles, Tarot & Astrology with Yesbelt Fernandez! Yesbelt is a tarot teacher and lunar guide based in New York City who helps people design intentional lives. She leads new and full moon circles, offers seasonal rituals and tarot readings. She is the author of: New Moon Life Design: Manifest the Life You Want Using Lunar Cycles, Tarot, and Astrology (Weiser Books, April 2026). For over a decade, Yesbelt blends practical systems with intuitive wisdom, teaching people how to work with the phases and cycles of the moon and set intentions they can follow through on. She believes in saying yes to what spirals us into synchronicity!Yesbelt found out about tarot for the first time in the Dominican Republic whilst sitting on a beach after a funeral. A Tarot reader happened to be walking by and offered Yesbelt a Tarot reading. She bought her first tarot deck after that and began studying Tarot and attended different lectures and classes in NYC. She met Joanna Powell Colbert at a readers' studio and then attended one of Joanna’s retreats on Whidbey Island, WA. Being a young mother at age 16 kept her very busy until her 30's when she awakened to her spirituality. Yesbelt studied herbalism at a shop in NYC called Flower Power. She was invited to host lunar circles there and to sell her workbooks that she made every month. Theresa Reed (aka The Tarot Lady) came into the Flower Power store once and saw her workbook and later contacted Yesbelt and asked her if she wanted to write a book. It was through all those synchronicities and spirals that Yesbelt ended up writing and publishing her first book.We delve into Yesbelt’s New Moon Life Design (Yesspiral system) a cyclical journey weaving Tarot cards, Astrology and Moon cycles starts with a journaling practice. In simple parts: the lunar cycle is the Calendar, astrology is the archetypes of the planet's Focus and the tarot is the emotional Mirror. The real magic behind this process is setting our intentions and then taking conscious action steps. Pick an intention and make it into a Smart goal at the New Moon this is where we Begin- then we Build with the Waxing Moon and we Celebrate & Forgive at the Full Moon - Reset at the Waning moon and Release at the Dark Moon.We chat about the next New Moon in Aries on 4/17/26 and it’s zodiac model is: “I Am”. This New Moon is about setting intentions around what your personal brand or who you see yourself authentically in the world and redesign/update that. We end the episode with Yesbelt pulling Tarot Cards for a “Moonth” using her New Moon Yesspiral system starting with the New Moon in Aries on 4/17 and onwards through the next New Moon in Taurus on May 16. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Enid Baxter Ryce: Author, Artist, Professor & Education Advocate
Send us Fan MailExplore the meaning and power behind spells and incantations with Enid Baxter Ryce! Enid is an award-winning Author, Artist, and Professor whose work spans books, film, visual art, and education advocacy. Her books include Plant Magic at Home (Running Press, 2025), Grace Flows Through You (Amber Lotus, 2026), and Field Guide to Fort Ord (multiple printings), and her latest book called: Ancient Spells and Incantations - Echoes of Magic Through the Ages & Across Cultures. By Red Wheel/Weiser Books due out in April. Her work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Art, the Library of Congress, the Getty, and the Arnolfini. She is Professor of Cinematic Arts and Technology at CSU Monterey Bay. As a descendant of 3 Salem Witches; Enid embodies a long family history of natural magical practices. Enid’s early beginnings took place in rural Pennsylvania and spending a lot of time alone in the woods immersed in Nature. Her mother who was Scotch/ Irish had knowledge of plants/botanicals for healing that she taught to Enid. She took a crafts class as a small girl which influenced her artistic abilities. And later she was enrolled in an art program at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia which gave her a sense of belonging, helped her get a scholarship and set her on her artistic path. Enid is a descendant of 3 Salem Witches that were hanged in the Salem Witch Trials back in 1692 for refusing to confess to being a Witch. Enid wrote a book called: Plant Magic at Home from her knowledge passed down from her mother as well as her own research and experience. While she was researching her plant magic book she came across several magical incantations which she started collecting. She realized that these were going to be her next book that she found in witch trial transcripts. Through her extensive research in university libraries, Enid uncovered ancient spells adapted from text unearthed from grimoires, letters, and trial transcripts from across the ages and around the world. These are special! We delve into the purpose of spells across cultures and the power of words to create and shape reality. Enid tells us that everyone across time and cultures want love/affection or experiences anger or want protection and have questions about the unknown. Spells and incantations are written in a way like poetry to connect us to the mystery of spirit for manifestation, prophecy, love, protection, healing, bless, curses, and even vengeance. They are opportunities to set intentions and pay attention to them. What we put focus and intention on flourishes; what we do not put our energy into withers. Enid also illustrated her book using plant based inks and with magical methods for creating artwork to match the subject matter of the spells in her book. The essence of spells and incantations reveal how universal human beings vulnerabilities are across time and cultures and how we all have similar needs expressed. It makes you realize what we all share and have in common throughout history. Enid has made these spells accessible to today's Witches. Enid ends the episode by reading us a New Moon incantation translated from Gaelic from her book. Tune in and be enlightened! The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Laura Tempest Zakroff - Artist, Performer Author & Witch
Send us Fan MailTarot unleashed with Laura Tempest Zakroff! Laura is a professional Artist, Author, Performer, and Modern Traditional Witch based in New England. Laura is the author of several bestselling Llewellyn books including Weave the Liminal, Sigil Witchery, Visual Alchemy, and Anatomy of a Witch, as well as the artist and author of the Sigil Witchery Oracle, Anatomy of a Witch Oracle, and The Liminal Spirits Oracle. Laura has a new book called: Tarot by Tempest by Llewellyn Worldwide. She is the creative force behind several community events and teaches workshops online and worldwide. We start off chatting about Laura's early beginnings with her creativity and spirituality. Her parents sent Laura to art classes around the age of 3 years old and she pursued formal art training from grammar school all the way through college. At Brown University she took independent study classes about mythology, beliefs, occultism and spirituality. Laura created her first tarot deck with her own designs and etchings based on Tennyson’s poem: Lady of Shallot. After college, she started reading Tarot at various metaphysical stores in Rhode Island and in the Bay Area. Laura tells us this was a wonderful learning experience for her.We jump into Laura’s latest book: Tarot by Tempest - Playing with Numbers, Meaning and Movement. During the pandemic Laura was teaching online workshops and she started teaching this as a class which was so successful that she was encouraged to put it into book format because her students really liked her straightforward, multi layered and intuitive approach to reading Tarot cards. When she looks at the numbers first and what the Major and Minor arcana are, what suits are showing up and what are the numbers. The numbers of a Tarot card have certain meanings and from there you can look at the images, what symbols are portrayed, and how the people are depicted. We talk about the Movement aspect in Laura’s book and she says most of us have a habit of dwelling too much in our heads. She suggests in her book to try and sit or stand in the position of the people in the Tarot card(s) that you pull. Take for instance, The Magician card with the As Above, So Below stance that the Magician is doing with one arm upwards and one arm lowered to the ground; we would try and assume that pose and take a moment to feel the energy of that posture in your body. This energy can unlock the meaning or feeling of that card for you - whether its the outcome card or just a part of a spread with other cards. Ask yourself: What can this card teach me? See how your body responds when you are physically engaged in a card’s body position and really listen to your intuition. We live in a society that tells us not to trust our intuition and not to trust our bodies. Laura believes that the poses of the characters in Tarot cards have meaning and power to them. And getting into our bodies more helps us spot the colors, symbols, and patterns in Tarot because we are perceiving rather than overthinking. Tune into this enchanted conversation and be enlightened! The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Dodie Graham McKay - Author, Filmmaker & Green Witch
Send us Fan MailDiscover how magic of animals and Witchcraft intersect with Dodie Graham McKay! Dodie is an Author, Green Witch, and Filmmaker. She is inspired to document and share stories that capture the beauty of nature and the visible and invisible realms of magic and Witchcraft. She is the author of “A Witch's Ally Oracle Deck” - Illustrated by Laura Tempest Zakroff, and several books: Earth Magic: The Elements of Witchcraft and The Witch's Ally: Building a Magical Relationship with Familiars & Animal Companions by Llewellyn Worldwide. Her documentary films include The WinniPagans, Starry Nights, and the Fibe TV four-part series Exploring the Sacred. Dodie spends her spare time walking her dogs, teaching Witchcraft, and facilitating a busy coven. She lives in Canada.Dodie’s love for animals included her best friend, familiar and life companion Obin who was quite a magical dog. Her dog had epilepsy at an early age but Dodie never gave up and Obin lived a long and good life. He led Dodie on a journey on what the world could look like from his point of view. He was an inspiration to Dodie and he showed her sacred wisdom and even actively participated in her Wiccan rituals. We delve into the terms Pet, Companion, Familiar and Ally in Dodie’s book and Oracle deck A Witches Ally and how these terms are framed around the lens of Witchcraft. Her and Laura Tempest Zakroff the illustrator and how: The Witches Ally Oracle Deck came together beautifully. Each card has a unique sigil as well as stunning artwork. The companion book has a bit about the natural history mythology, symbols and sacred messages associated with each animal which you can take into your spiritual practice. Dodie wanted to create an animal deck that can be woven into a person’s Witchcraft practice. Witches have held a close connection with Nature throughout history. We discover that how we perceive animals is a projection that comes from a human point of view. We are not the only species that perceives in the world. Dodie explains that the perception of an animal is going to be unique to that animal. How an animal senses reveal hidden realms around us and each living thing on this planet sits in its own bubble of perception with different vibrations, sounds, smells, tastes, electromagnetic fields that we as humans may or may not be able to see. The immensity can be beyond our capacity to understand. Dodie believes that there is so much mystery around us and the web of life is so woven all around us. If we can find the humility to respect, honor this and try to understand this instead of being exploitative and destructive to nature and all living beings on this planet.Dodie explains how we can learn and develop a spiritual connection with an animal by not extending that invitation on our terms. She suggests we do some research into understanding the natural history, the behavior, the instinct, and priorities of that animal creature that we want to reach out to and form a spiritual connection with first. After your initial research on an animal then it's discerning which magical techniques will match up best with how that animal sees the world. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Jen Sankey - Author, Deck Creator, Tarot Reader & Witch
Send us Fan MailExplore Lunar Magic with Jen Sankey! Jen is an author, deck creator, tarot reader, professional witch, and speaker. She blends tarot, lunar magic, and spiritual guidance to create transformative tools. Her works include the award-winning Stardust Wanderer Tarot (Self-Published), Enchanted Forest Felines Tarot (Llewellyn), Manifesting by the Moon: A Lunar Guide to Magic (Llewellyn), Feb 2026, and Goblin Whispers Tarot (2027, Llewellyn). Jen shares her knowledge through workshops, events, and online platforms, inspiring others to enhance their intuition and magical potential. We chat about Jen’s early beginnings and as a kid she spent a lot of time alone wandering in the woods in nature. Her family moved around several times, and she grew up poor. This adversity taught her resiliency and independence. Coming of age pre-internet gives us a different perspective and makes us more self-disciplined in figuring out and learning about how to be a Witch we both agree! Jen’s tells us about new book “Manifesting by The Moon” and how she wanted to teach people how to harness the energy and power of the moon phases and tie it in with manifesting. As Witches a lot of spell work is about bringing in our intentions to our lives. Jen wanted to write an uncomplicated workbook so people can harness the moon phases and to get them to trust their intuition. She invites the reader to use her book like a lunar map to bring in our manifestations. Jen helps us to reframe our thinking to incorporate the mind, the body and the spirit self to mirror each lunar phase with tarot spreads, magical exercises, spells, meditations, lunar teas and sigils so that the reader can explore through sections and a format that is easy to follow for each of the moon phases and for mind, body and spirit connection. We jump into how the different lunar phases and Jen describes the energy of each phase and suggests what energies we can align our intentional spell work for physical, emotional and spiritual integration. We are the magicians of our lives and can co-create with the moon’s phases energies and so there is effort. This is intentional and grounding. It takes patience and trust. As we work with our intentions through each of the lunar phases and working towards our manifesting, we might change our minds and discover new ideas or information and in this process, we learn about ourselves.Lunar Magic is a potent, cyclical, and embodied practice that is accessible to all of us which can enrich our bodies, minds and spirits, bringing us balance of the light and dark within and magic on many levels throughout our lives. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Sande Hart - Author- President of The Global Woman’s Village - Women's Empowerment Leader/Speaker - Compassion Activist
Send us Fan MailJoin us in this episode as we discover the importance & potentiality of the liminal with Sande Hart! Sande is an award-winning leader in the fields of Women’s empowerment and interfaith community building, and Author of Nautilus Award winning The Liminal Odyssey - The Alchemical Power of the Spaces In-Between. She is the Founding President of The Global Woman’s Village, since 2001, originally named S.A.R.A.H. (The Spiritual And Religious Alliance for Hope.) Sande developed and served as Director for the Women and Girls sector for the Charter for Compassion and served on the Women’s Task Force for The Parliament of The World’s Religions 2015-2023. We delve into Sande’s book: “The Liminal Odyssey”. This is about her stories, wild experiences and synchronicities woven together as a guide on how we can understand and embrace our threshold in between times. Each chapter or story is anchored in a methodology of social psychology, science, indigenous wisdom, the trust wisdom philosophy, etc. Jean Shinoda Bolen told Sande about a word that she loved called: Liminal and from there Sande thought about her own experiences and thresholds and what made them possible and what was the seed or life lesson within her thresholds experiences. All these chapters lead us towards cultivating awareness of potentiality and our divine assignment(s) within a threshold or liminal time/experience. It’s this questioning that Sande believes is the greatest gift that we can give our soul.Sande says that what The Liminal Odyssey is all about is how she slowed down and created a condition of “tunefulness” to notice all the seeds of truth and meaning behind significant threshold experiences in her life we need to slow down in order to see/understand/embrace them. It's our job to say yes to them because who knows what they will grow into?We chat about the significance of the Heroes/Sheroes journey and how the signposts of where we are headed most often do not show up in a linear fashion. We need a new construct and be open to what wants to emerge as the new myth of our life. The steps were developed by Carl Jung and popularized by Joseph Campbell, Disney and George Lucas since its in every movie plot as the arc of a character’s story from beginning to end where the character after going through the heroes’ journey finds their actualized agency. And every day we can find ourselves at a new beginning. Sande thinks we should enjoy the struggle and pain involved in change and inner work. We get to experience and feel the struggle, pain and confusion of the liminal phases and heroes/sheroes journey to get to our next actualized evolved state. We end with Sande giving us a guided meditation on learning a new way of being and the power of the feminine principle from the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. Tune in and be enlightened! Spirit is the divine substance and the animating force of the universe that binds all the other Elements together. It’s the energy behind all of nature and humanity that makes everything work. Spirit is also intertwined with all the other Elements by the relationship with Animism. Recognizing that everything human, animal, plant, trees, rocks etc. has its own distinct animating life force and energy and that is its spirit.Gods, Goddesses and Deities are also in connection with Spirit. Phoenix is a polytheist, and she teaches workshops about many Gods/Goddesses/Deities. Her favorite is the primordial Star Goddess. Phoenix feels that the Star Goddess is the perfect representation of Spirit. Ritual connects us with the spirit world, and we discuss how different Wiccan/Pagan traditions invoke spirit in sacred ritual each with their own unique emphasis and structure on how spirit moves through the individual within a coven or circle.Phoenix was inspired to write this book about the ethereal 5th Element (Spirit) since she loves paradox, liminality, quintessence, and dark matter. She researched and did deep dives into all the other Elements individually (Air, Fire Water, Earth). ‘Spirit Magic” is part of the Elements series by Llewellyn Worldwide and follows the same format of the other 4 books in this series. The entire Elements series an amazing deep dive into foundational Witchcraft! There are a multitude of ways from very elaborate to simple everyday practices to connect with something greater than yourself. I invite you to take a guided meditation journey with me to connect with the ancient Celtic Goddess of Sanctuary: Nemetona for the December New Moon. This guided meditation and more are available in my 3 books and audiobooks titled:The Oracle of Luna: Meditations with the Moon Goddess- Volumes 1,2, & 3 available on Amazon & Audible.Let’s start with a bit of history on Goddess Nemetona. Nemetona is an Ancient Romano-Celtic Goddess. She is the Lady of Sanctuary, of Sacred Groves and Sacred Spaces. Her name ‘She of the Sacred grove’ whispers to our heart of protection, safety, a connection with nature as divine ‘sanctuary’. She was known in ancient Gaul, Germany and in Spain. The Nemetes were the main worshippers of Nemetona. The word Nemeton means Sacred Grove, and in this regard, she is connected with Druids before and during the Roman empire. She relates to the healing and wisdom of Trees. The Hawthorne Tree being one of her symbols.Engaging with Goddess Nemetona allows the spirit of the Divine to move through us with our receptivity towards her. This is the inspiration and spiritual life force that connects all things. Nemetona is a Goddess of the Druidic concept of: Awen. Giving is essential in our consumerist culture, and it demands so much of our spirits and energy. Especially at this time of Yule and Christmas! We need to balance consumerism with the inspiration & balance we receive from sacred nature, where if we exploit nature too much ; it dies. Nemetona is present within the home, within our sacred groves, our ceremonies and in all the spaces that we hold dear to our hearts. She is a liminal creature, who is at her most powerful at dawn and at dusk. The invitation of Nemetona to you is to connect to the sacred and Yin energy of quiet, stillness, mindfulness and peace. .The sacred grove can be a physical space in a forest, a clearing in the busy mind, or an invitation into the imagination or dreamworld. It can be an inner sanctuary of the heart, a sacred space for meditation and contemplation a corner of a room where you can just sit and be quiet or an altar space. This is where Nemetona meets us to commune with divinity. She soothes and stills, and whispers to us of belonging, and of the innate holiness of all things. So…Get comfortable and let’s take a guided journey to connect with the Goddess Nememtona and connect to your own sanctuary within. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Sara Haydon – Author of “Winter Magic: A Witch’s Yule” & Intentional Living Advocate
Send us Fan MailGet ready to dive into Yule magic with Sara Haydon! Sara is an author and advocate for slow, intentional living. Her debut book, Winter Magic: A Witch’s Yule (Atlantic Books, 2024), explores the intersection of nature, seasonal living and personal spirituality. With a background in Psychology and years of experience in mental health and offender rehabilitation, she now writes and supports others on their journeys of inner transformation. From her cabin in the Finnish woods or while wandering the English countryside with her family, Sara shares moments of everyday magic on her much-beloved Instagram platform, @HawthornHollowsSara thought about how magic shows up in her everyday life and combined with her Finnish heritage shares it in her book to make her Yule magic accessible to everyone. We delve into Sara’s book: Winter Magic: A Witch’s Yule. She felt inspired to create and foster a celebration for the Winter Solstice. She wanted to create a book that was gentle, grounding and enchanting for readers to navigate this season and sample different Witchcraft aspects while going through the journey of Yule. Since Sara grew up in Finland, she wrote her book from a unique Nordic perspective where the magic and mysticism of Yule mixes with nostalgia, coziness, folklore and a deep relationship with nature.Yet there is the paradox between the darkness of December, the returning of the light at Winter Solstice as well as reconnecting with spirit(s) and old ways. Yule is very rich in mythology folklore and stories especially with elves, gnomes or “Tonttu” which act as guardian spirits of household and farm and are a huge art of the Nordic folklore. Nordic deities such as Freya and Odin are part of the interplay with darkness of winter. Sara includes rituals, spells, everyday magic with her book. Honoring the deities, archetypes and their symbology honors aspects of ourselves. These traditions are rooted in gratitude, respect, balance and the reciprocity of give and take from spirits. Sara believes this is the kind of quiet, gentle pagan magic doesn't scream Witchcraft. Sara mentions that Yule/Winter Solstice doesn’t need to be ritualistic; it can be comfortable and what feels aligned for you. Honoring nature and weaving your generosity into candles, food, good wishes.Yule magic is about folding in those moments of intention into the life you are already living in. And it can be as simple as lighting a candle with a quick intention before you start the day or drinking something warm to ground yourself. For creating some Yule magic, you can bring in certain scents and flavors such as pine, citrus or cinnamon which shifts the energy. It’s those tiny pauses and small pockets of seasonal reminders that create magic. The Nordic traditions of Yule/Winter Solstice with the sense of coziness are so beautiful, simple and adaptable for those of us who are city Pagans/Wiccans living in small spaces or places that do not have snow or forests.Yuletide magic is not tied to any certain landscape, country, culture or aesthetic. The Yule season is a threshold time as we shift from one cycle that is ending as we live through the darkest time of the year and now move towards lighter days which is very magical ritual in itself. Its nature’s enchanted gift to us and brings us hope. Tune in and be enlightened! She later read StarHawk’s seminal book The Spiral Dance which opened up the idea of the Neo-Pagan Wheel of the Year (the 8 sabbats). This concept and the reclaiming tradition felt right for Flora. She later went to college and studied theater/acting but then turned her focus to music and developing her skills as a singer. She got a diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Voice which was a very rich starting point for her vocal journey. A year after graduating Flora was introduced to Vocal Sound Healing which was another pivotal moment in her musical life and spiritual journey. She understood then that her voice was not just for entertainment but it could be used as a part of her sacred practice. We delve into the role of Song Priestesses throughout history and what this role entails in contemporary times for Flora. Sound, voice, drums, music from paleolithic times have all been used by shamans and priests/priestesses and later bards for connecting to divine energy, creating sacred space and to foster community. The Song Priestess knows the power of vibrational and the energetic alchemy of sound. It's not entertainment, it's using our voices in sacred ritual through voice and sound healing to elevate our connection to the divine. Flora tells us that sound is vibrational healing and an attunement to harmonious frequencies. We chat about Flora’s newest album: “The Center of the Pentacle” and how it focuses on Lunar Magick, New Moon, Full Moon song spells/chants and invocations to Goddesses designed to integrate with a group or personal ritual. This is a counterpoint to her previous album: “Songs for the Wheel of the Year” which were about the solar 8 sabbats. Her songs, music and song circles empower the Divine Feminine within and bring the feminine principle forward.Flora’s mission is to bring the sacred feminine back into balance with the sacred masculine. Flora continues to challenge herself musically and she is passionate about taking her voice and song priestessing to new edges whether it be online or in person ceremonies, EarthSong Temple rituals, song circles or album recordings. Growing up she became aware of voices and spirits in her family’s house. She noticed her psychic abilities would sharpen in her college years every Fall. Nikki started researching The Wheel of the Year and modern-day witchcraft. This was a huge spiritual awakening for her and from then on, she knew she was a witch for life. After college, she became a physical therapist and tells us she would not be where she is as an occult teacher had it not been for her studies of healing on a holistic level. Nikki then began studying reiki, yoga, meditation and eventually got her master’s degree in Integrative Health & Healing which then led to her Shamanic certifications and skills that inform her magick and lucid dream practice. She also interned with Robert Moss a well renown shamanic dream teacher.Lucid dreaming is being fully aware of yourself while you are dreaming and so essentially, you’re conscious within a dream state. Adding magick and cultivating spell work to lucid dreaming is what her newest Dream Sorcery book explores. She gives the reader tools to engage in dream sorcery even if you are not a seasoned magickal practitioner. This book is important for the magical or enchanted community because it’s not written from the viewpoint of western psychiatry. Nikki firmly believes that dream sorcery can evolve our spiritual practice, and she hopes that the magickal reader will read her book and explore their own dream world where the rules of physics don’t limit the effect of the endless possibilities and realities. Nikki believes we can go from spectator to active magician in our dreams. Tune in and be enlightened! Deborah suggests some simple ways such as when you are taking a walk you can notice and connect with nature. Listen to the birds, feel the air on your skin, watch for omens, etc. If you cook, then kitchen witchery is the simplest way to integrate magic into what you are already cooking. Sprinkle in some fresh herbs and add your own intentions to the food you’re cooking. Experiment and have fun and as Deborah says: “There is no wrong way to do it. Whatever works for you is your kind of everyday witchcraft!”Deborah ends with a short meditation from her book: A Year and a Day of Everyday Magic for quiet and peace. Send us Fan MailJoin us, for a fascinating and meaningful conversation with Tiffany Hopkins! Tiffany Hopkins has has been a year-round resident of Lily Dale, NY since moving into her great-great grandmother’s cottage in 2018. Tiffany gives mediumship readings and works to share the unique experience of living surrounded by people who practice mediumship in Lily Dale through: Normalize Talking to The Dead, a Website, Podcast, and Residency. Her first book, “Beyond: A Living Person’s Guide to the Dead” (June 10, 2025) shares her story of moving to Lily Dale; a community that shares a rich history of mediumship, healing, social reform, freethinking, and walks readers through how to find their own approach to Mediumship. Tiffany has degrees in Cognitive Science, Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts & Music, and Business. *Stay tuned until the end where Tiffany gives us a short, guided meditation to open and close connection to contacting beyond the veil. *We start out by chatting about the captivating history of Lily Dale, an intentional Spiritualist community in New York state which has had a rich history of hosting freethinkers, social and political reformists, and mediums since the 1850’s. Originally Lily Dale was a summer camp for Spiritualists. There have been connections with the suffragette movement, labor movement, abolition and alternative religious beliefs with many famous mediums and notable people such as Susan B. Anthony who spoke about women's rights, as regular visitors, and speakers there. Gradually Lily Dale became a year-round live in community for professional mediums. We talk about Tiffany’s new book “Beyond: A Living Person’s Guide to the Dead” and how it developed from her research project in mediumship studies. Tiffany wrote a paper on the process of channeling which she expanded on into step-by-step approach explaining the channeling process for people to figure out how it can work for them. Tiffany believes people can learn mediumship just by doing and practicing it and paying attention to the subtleties. Tiffany believes that it is a natural human ability to connect with the spirits beyond the veil and that psychic work has been misunderstood. She thinks that anyone can do mediumship and connect with their departed loved ones on the other side, but it does take time and consistent practice. We can start with two powerful tools we all have to develop our psychic abilities and to reignite our connection with a departed loved one: our memories and our imaginations. She talks about how living in a supportive community of mediums at Lily Dale has helped her accept that it's normal to talk to spirits. Her goal with her book, classes and podcast is to help others develop their mediumship skills and abilities so that they can feel comfortable doing this on their own. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Irisanya Moon: Author, Witch, Priestess, Poet and International Teacher in the Reclaiming Witchcraft Tradition
Send us Fan MailJoin us, for an intriguing conversation with Irisanya Moon! Irisanya is a Witch, Priestess, Author of several books, Poet and devotee of Aphrodite. She teaches classes and camps in the Reclaiming Witchcraft tradition around the world. Her latest book is: “HESTIA: Goddess of Hearth, Home and Community” She lives in Sonoma county California. *Stay tuned until the end where Irisanya gives us a short Hestia blessing for the home*Originally from the Midwest; Irisanya moved to California and has been invested in the Reclaiming Witchcraft tradition since 2008. This is an Eco-Feminist tradition that seeks to unify spirit and politics and encompasses many viewpoints on deity. Irisanya began her spiritual journey by first attending a Witch Camp - a 7 day retreat and loved it. She found a mentor named Copper Persephone who mentored her on her Reclaiming Witchcraft path and was a good friend. Irisanya continued with priestess training and student teaching with Copper for several years before teaching on her own.We chat about Hestia the Goddess of the hearth and community in all her Greek mythological complexity. Basically, Hestia is/was the flame that connects everyone- the flame that is essential for humankind. She was worshipped in the home but also in the civic/political communities of ancient Greece. Hestia elected to never marry and to remain an eternal Virgin Goddess, one owned by no man and forever tended to the hearth of Olympus. Hestia offered sanctuary from persecution to those who honored and respected Her and punished those who offended Her. She was worshipped and celebrated around the hearth that is central to family(births, deaths, marriages) etc.as well as community rites of passages and events. The Olympic torch was/is a symbol of the eternal flame of Hestia lit at Mt. Olympus in Her honor.Irisanya talks to us about how Hestia has influenced her writing this book as a result of teaching at various in-person events, classes and Witchcamps after the Covid lockdown in 2023 and how she worked to bring community together and rebuild community after people have gone through so much. In a way Hestia collaborated with Irisanya while writing this book about her! Irisanya believes that community is essential now more than ever and Irisanya works hard to figure out group cohesion and how people can support each other as well as feel comfortable with giving and receiving around each other. It's about belonging and meeting people where they are at, which is not easy whether it is in a magical Pagan or Wiccan ritual or at work or any other type of community.Irisanya’s book is full of invocations, meditations, prayers and other useful information so that anyone can connect with Goddess Hestia. And Hestia is there for us to honor and celebrate at home even if we don't have a community around us. We can always call on Her and ask for her wisdom, support, nourishment and blessings regardless of our spiritual background or where we live in the world. We end the episode with Irisanya leading us in a lovely Hestia blessing for the home. Tune in and be enlightened! The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Joey Morris: Celtic Hedge Witch, Priestess of Morrigan, Author & Creatrix of Starry Eyed Supplies
Send us Fan MailJoin us, for an enthralling conversation with Joey Morris! Joey Morris is a Celtic Hedge Witch, Priestess of the Morrigan, Author, and Creatrix behind Starry Eyed Supplies. She shares information on topics such as: Paganism and Celtic Hedge Witchcraft on her Starry Eyed Witch Youtube channel since 2012. Joey has been serving the Pagan community with videos, books, poetry and Witch items for over ten years. Trained as a Priestess of Morrigan, she has a unique perspective on integrating Celtic Paganism for a modern age. Her latest book is: “Celtic Hedge Witchery: A Modern Approach.” She lives in Plymouth, England. *Stay tuned until the end where Joey takes us on a powerful guided visualization to our own sacred grove*Originally from Nottingham Shire, Joey always felt at home in forests and in nature and loved writing. She was doing Witchy things before she knew what the term Witch meant and she was obsessed with Nature as a kid but later in life she realized that she was a Celtic Witch.Joey developed an interest in the Morrigan early and she says the Morrigan was always with her and Joey got to know her mythology and combined with her own personal gnosis she was self - initiated as a Priestess of the Morrigan. Joey deeply identified with Morrigan’s shapeshifting aspect. And being a Hedge Witch fit Joey as the label that she naturally gravitated towards. She believes that Hedge Witchery crosses the boundary between spirit working and green witchcraft/herbalism. Joey was always fascinated by hedgerows and drawn to them growing up in rural England finding them to be very magical and liminal. Hedgerows are quintessentially British and seen mostly at the edges of farming fields and woodlands. They are half man made and half wild grown structures of trees and bushes that became living fences creating whole ecosystems and habitats within them. Joey tells us she believes hedgerows are more than a physical boundaries. There is folklore about Witches ”jumping the Hedge” which is a phrase meaning when we cross over into the Spirit world or go on astral travels. This means that Hedgerows aren't just a physical thing. They can be mysterious gateways to the Otherworlds. Joey believes that a Hedge Witch is a spirit worker first and foremost who is very connected to the Earth including trees, plants, animals in the physical world and also with the Spiritual Ecosystem-all the spirits that are interconnected. We chat about creativity, inspiration and being led by the universal force of Awen. Joey’s book "Celtic Hedge Witchery: A Modern Approach” grew out of years of her Hedge Witchcraft practice and all the things she's been writing about in her blogs, poetry and creating videos around. It is a beautiful love letter to the spiritual path that Joey has been walking on and shaping. How can we become Hedge Witches wherever we are in the world? Joey tells us that the memory of the destroyed physical eco systems of the Hedgerows live on in the spiritual world and that we can tap into those spirits wherever we are and create a connection to the divine even if we are not near an actual hedgerow. Going on guided inner journeys and meditations is a good way to start your practice for this Joey tells us. We all have a sacred grove within us and we can co-create with the universe within ourselves at any time or place. The “Mana” or spiritual energy of Hawaii is very strong and carries through Leiliani’s beliefs and teachings as a Dianic Priestess and Kahuna. Leilani went back to get her masters degree and studied Women’s Spirituality in the SF Bay area and was taught by such legendary women as Luisah Teish and Vickie Noble. Leilani took a class in Priestessing that was taught by the legendary Z. Budapest - the founder of Dianic Wicca. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Lorraine Monteagut PhD - Latine Witch- Author of: BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color
Send us Fan MailJoin us, for an illuminating conversation with Lorraine Monteagut! Lorraine Monteagut, Ph.D., is a queer Latine Witch and author of BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color. Lorraine's scholarship in occult ancestral spiritualities traces the diverse traditions of contemporary magical practices. Lorraine's second book, Modern Witchcraft for Dummies is forthcoming in April 2025. She is the creator of Witchy Heights, a community space for practical magic and spiritual activism. *Stay tuned until the end when Lorraine gives us a short sacred ancestor invocation ** Lorraine chats about her early Witchcraft beginnings and being influenced by her great grandmother who was a spirit medium in Cuba who helped people connect with their lost loved ones who passed over. Lorraine speaks as a millennial being influenced by the pop cultural moments that were available to her with such TV shows as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and movies like :”The Craft”. As a young 12 year old she identified as a Witch. Lorraine talks about how now in the modern moment there is a reclaiming of the word : Bruja. Bruja is the Spanish word for Witch. Its an identity that continues to evolve just like the word Witch does to encompass all the new things we are doing. And with all gendered versions of the word. While reclaiming the past. She sees Brujas emerging within the intersectional feminism where Witches of color are taking the lead. And bringing their own cultural mythologies and touchstones to the larger Witchcraft movement. Brujas are also creating communities centered around activism. She sees the Bruja as a nexus of all of the new pathways away from Witchcraft that was centered around European traditions or Greco- Roman mythologies.Learning about the folk magic , customs and the rituals of indigenous folks who lived on the land that you or your family came from in different parts of the world is valuable investigative work that can enriches you as a Bruja or Witch. In her book BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color she also includes cultural ancestors in addition to blood ancestors that we can incorporate into our magic. Also Lorraine suggests we can create a personal ancestor altar that can help us speak and connect with our ancestors even if they are land spirits, community elders, spiritual teachers, or cultural icons and remind us that we are not alone. We also chat about magical activism and creating spiritual communities that can help each other. By centering our values, lifting each other up and try to make the world a better place for all especially during the tense political landscape we are in now. We are all complex and come from different perspectives. and there is no simple narrative and Witchcraft needs to reflect this. This is the power of Brujas and the modern Witchcraft moment. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Evelyn Rysdyk - Shaman - Teacher & Author of: "Shamanic Creativity"
Send us Fan MailJoin us in this episode, for a fascinating conversation with Evelyn Rysdyk! Evelyn is an internationally recognized, Shamanic Teacher and Author of several best selling books including, The Norse Shaman, Spirit Walking a Course in Shamanic Power, The Nepalese Shamanic Path: Practices for Negotiating the Spirit World and her latest book: Shamanic Creativity. She is also the founder of Spirit Passages Academy and the New Humans• New Earth Summit. We chat about how Evelyn was drawn to Shamanism as an alternative to psychotherapy for her depression and how journeying did more for her than standard therapy and medication. It opened a door to a more fuller version of herself. She then dove deeper into Shamanism and journeying and then eventually shared with other people what she had learned. Through her many years of training with teachers from places like Peru and Nepal - Evelyn began teaching others the value of opening their minds to their creative potential and to experience the expansive world of spirit and healing for themselves.Evelyn was then drawn to write step by step manuscripts for her students of how to do journeying. Over the decades she has written and published several books and she believes that there is no threshold on how far your creativity can go. Creativity is innate in us but the way we are schooled and how society doesn't place value on creativity can deaden our capability. Creativity is also a powerful part of our well being as we engage our different brain waves that open our capacity for inspiration and connection to spirit and the larger universal energy that can transcend space and time.Shamanistic methods and journeying are powerful tools for sharpening our capacity for new ideas and finding new solutions to obstacles and challenges.Evelyn loves supporting people to remember their sacred place in All That Is and uses her humor and passion to open people’s hearts and inspire them to live more joyful, fulfilling and purposeful lives in harmony with Nature. Pauline is a Priestess of Brigid and the Author of several books including: “Brigid: Goddess and Saint of Ireland”, “Maman Brigitte: Dark Goddess of Africa and Ireland” and "Brigantia- War Goddess” . Pauline is passionate about researching and sharing all the various faces of Goddess Brigid. She lives in Ireland. *And Pauline gives us a short invocation to Maman Brigitte at the end of the episode-so stay tuned! We chat about Pauline's early years as a Catholic and her connection with Saint Brigid and then later in life she discovered the Pagan Brigid. Pauline had an epiphany moment while in meditation with Marion Brigantia, her teacher, in Glastonbury, England. She then had another 'aha' moment when she traveled to Portugal to a church in Lumiar where part of St Brigid’s skull is enshrined. From then on Pauline was hooked and she became immersed in the many aspects of Brigid. While researching her first book, Pauline began her fascination on how the Saint Brigid travelled with the Irish to the Caribbean and onto the Americas. Pauline tells us about Maman Brigitte’s emergence in Haiti during the slave trade, tracing her development into a prominent figure for both Haitian and Irish immigrants who experienced similar social and economic circumstances in Haiti and in New Orleans, Louisiana. A unique blend of Afro-Haitian Lwa religion of VouDou (or VooDoo) and Catholic Irish Brigid; Maman Brigitte emerges as the Dark Goddess and Great Mother that guides and protects the forgotten, the outcasts and the marginalized in life through their our darkest times and ultimately in death. But death takes many forms. Parts of us die all the time with changes in jobs, relationships, situations, homes, projects, health, life circumstances…etc. We are always shedding. Sometimes these “deaths” are very difficult and Maman Brigitte is there to hold space for those feelings, that grief process and to bridge that past into our future.Pauline is not a VouDou practitioner or initiated in VouDou religion nor is she familiar with the Yoruban system of spirituality but when writing her book she was looking at Maman Brigitte through the lens of the Irish and how far Goddess Brigid traveled, morphed and was incorporated into other religious practices. Pauline believes we need the Dark Goddesses such as Maman Brigitte now because they can guide us and show us the root cause of our suffering and teach us that our darkest nights are our ultimate power. And to take this deep journey is where Maman Brigitte’s wisdom and healing comes in.Brigid in all her aspects is as relevant in 2025 as in the pre-Christian Ireland. As Pauline tells us; “There is room for everyone under Brigid’s mantle”. And Brigid continues to shine her flame in her many variations such as Maman Brigitte to all who are open to her in this very moment in time and beyond with her eternal love and power. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Leeza Robertson - Author, Tarot Deck Creator & Priestess
Send us Fan MailJoin us in this episode, for a conversation with the Author, Priestess, and Tarot Deck Creator: Leeza Roberston! Leeza Robertson is an international bestselling author with Llewellyn Worldwide. She has created and published several Tarot Decks since 2016. She is passionate about exploring the connection between the Goddess and the Priestess path. Leeza is from the Aussie bush and is living her best life in Las Vegas, Nevada.Leeza tells us she is not a spiritual person as much as she is a researcher. Her wife influenced Leeza with opening up to her up to Reiki and alternative healing when she was sick and it helped with her healing. Leeza got into Tarot when she lost her eyesight for a while due to a sinus infection. She dreamed of Tarot cards in the darkness. When that was healed she attended an event by Barbara Moore, one of the matriarchs of Tarot. And afterwards Leeza took a lesson with Barbara. In 2016 Leeza published her first Tarot Deck, Animal Totem Tarot and she has published over 7 more Tarot Decks since then. Leeza chats about the process of publishing a Tarot deck with her publisher: Llewellyn Worldwide. We also talk about one of her books: Tarot Priestess. Leeza identifies as a Priestess and not as a Witch. She noticed that there was not much information or literature for those who are on the Priestess path but much more on the path of the Witch. The Priestess lineage for Women has been somewhat neglected or misunderstood. Leeza struggled with the Divine Femininity theory as a Queer woman and she began looking for the Goddess in Nature as a sacred space of growth, success and building. She started to drop my biased walls of belief and open herself up to building her own personal unique relationship with the Goddess.Leeza feels that divination and cartomancy is a devotional and ritualistic practice to the Goddess and definitely part of the Priestess path. Leeza wants to communicate and explore how the path of the Witch is very different from the path of the Priestess. If we can create space with communication with the Goddess through our Tarot or Oracle Cards; that can slow us down, center us and open our receptivity to the teachings and wisdom of the Goddess. Nora died in 2014 but expressed that Angie continue her work. Angie then became certified to teach.Angie believes that Death is the Final rite of passage and a very much overlooked and neglected rite of passage deserving of as much dignity as any other significant rite of passage. She discusses how we live in a Death Denying culture and most of us die alone without prior Death planning. She sees her work as a sacred calling. Death Midwifery also deals with Death from an emotional, spiritual and practical place. She believes that Death has been taken from us by industry (medical, funeral , academia). She encourages families and loved ones to spend time with the beloved dead that have recently passed on. Angie explains that we have over-medicalized and over-industrialized Death so that it has become an incredibly toxic and unsustainable industry.Angie, as a Death Midwife, is reclaiming the caring for the Dead and their loved ones and family. Our culture doesn't give us the tools to grieve or mourn the 3 days of workplace bereavement leave doesn't cut it. Other cultures and countries continue to do forms of mourning. Angie’s Death Midwifery practices include a strong consideration for Eco-Friendly body disposition options. She tells us about how embalming fluid (Formaldehyde) is one of the most dangerous carcinogens known. It leaches into soil & ground water, etc. Angie says that there are many options and resources for Eco-Friendly natural burials, green cemeteries, green burials and water and earth cremation processes that are available and are carbon neutral. Burials and body disposition do not have to be toxic. It's Angie's hope that she opens up new ideas and alternative traditions around Death and Dying to the public and to be open to talking about these for ourselves and our loved ones. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Alice Markham-Cantor - Author of “The Once and Future Witch Hunt-A Descendant’s Reckoning from Salem to the Present’ and Co-Producer of “A Witch Story” film
Send us Fan MailNEW! Join us in this episode, for a spellbinding conversation with Alice Markham-Cantor! Alice is the Author of: “The Once and Future Witch Hunt-A Descendant’s Reckoning from Salem to the Present” and the Film Co-Producer of ”A Witch Story”, an award-winning documentary film about Salem and her research. Alice is a descendant of Martha Carrier, one of the Women accused and hanged at Salem. Her work has been published in New York Magazine, Scientific American, The Nation, and elsewhere. She serves on the working committee of the International Network Against Accusations of Witch Hunting and Associated Harmful Practices, and spoke at the first and second Feminist Conferences on the Witch Hunts hosted by the Campaña por la Memoria de las Brujas in Spain. She is from Brooklyn, New York.We begin by delving into why the Salem Witch Hunts took place and the build up of the socio/economic/political circumstances and unrest leading to the Salem Witch trials. There is unease and lack of leadership in Massachusetts Colony at that time. The Puritans were also at war with Algonquin native American Indian tribes which was a stressful issue too. Puritans had the viewpoint that the Native Americans were allied with the devil. There was no governor or local Magistrates at that time either. There was also friction between Salem Town and Salem Village. Samuel Paris became the new Salem Village minister in 1689. Like a wildfire all the circumstances have been escalating and then the flame is lit. In this case; the flame is Samuel Paris’ 2 girls living in his household that started having “fits”. Tituba was a slave in that house and she was one of the first accused of being a Witch also. This unrest and suspicion made Salem Villagers feel like the devil was out to get them. They needed a scapegoat and at that time period Women were thought of as spiritually weaker and more likely seduced by the devil and thus likely to be Witches. Especially the women who diverge from Puritan behavioral norms and therefore are more vulnerable to attack. All these factors contributed to the Salem Witch Hunts.Alice tells us that Witch Hunts are not a thing of the past. Currently, we see this with the Republicans party in the USA attacking illegal and undocumented immigrants. Alice believes it's exactly mirroring what happened with the Puritans using fear and hysteria to create the Salem Witch Hunts. Alice explains that over 20,000 people have been killed in Witch Hunts over the last decade worldwide. It is common to happen in places that are experiencing economic upheaval. Alice leaves us with her discovery that one of the reasons why Martha Carrier (her ancestor) was killed in Salem was that the 19 people who were hanged in Salem were those that refused to confess to Witchcraft because they did not identify as Witches. Alice thinks that ultimately the Salem Witch Trials are a lesson in fear. And the lesson of Salem Village is how fear works and how accusation works. Martha Carrier was extremely clear to her accusers in the Salem Witch Trials that she was not a Witch. Alice believes this is an important thing to remember as we participate in the season of Halloween and Samhain. Lisa’s lifelong personal assignment is to celebrate contemporary Women while drawing upon ancient stories to elevate their life journeys. She photographs archetypal imagery that is made to inspire Women to be their most powerful selves. Levart’s iconic photographs have appeared in numerous publications, including: New York magazine, The New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, Time magazine, and The Washington Post. She lives in the Hudson Valley, New York area.Lisa tells us that she was called by the Goddess to photograph Women as Goddesses after attending sacred circles led by Gina Martin (my previous podcast guest on The Oracle of Luna). She weaves her love for the sacred feminine in with her visual art and photography. And from her growth in the Goddess spiritual world Lisa developed her Goddess portraits. Her portraits combine different techniques such as collage, textures and mixed media which create depth to her photographs. She collaborated with all the Women that she photographed and asked them to choose which Goddess they wanted to portray and what elements water, air, earth, fire or spirit that they felt deeply connected to. The Women wanted Lisa to see them in this unique way. Her award winning book: “Goddess on Earth - Portraits of the Divine Feminine” reflects her passion for Goddess spirituality and her visual art.Lisa photographed and collaborated with indigenous women and this work evolved into her epic immersive large scale photography installation project called: “Still Here: Women of the Ramapough Lenape Nation”. The Ramapough Lenape are the indigenous peoples who lived in what is present day New York, Hudson Valley, New York city areas. This magical larger than life art/photography outdoor installation interplays with the cycles and seasons of nature and also honors the indigenous Women expressing their sacred stories on ancestral land.Lisa also photographed and published the: “Goddess on Earth Oracle Deck and Guidebook”. She loved the idea of creating an interactive divination deck with Women embodying Goddess archetypes combined with the elements. Each of the Women photographed in Lisa’s Oracle Deck also offered a message from their own perspective of the Goddess on the card that they portrayed. The images were used from her Mythica series. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Baba Yaga - New Moon October - Guided Meditation
Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Oracle of Luna; we will go on an October New Moon meditation journey with the Slavic Goddess Baba Yaga. I will be your guide, as we align with the current cosmic energies with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Libra and take a mystical journey to the deep woods and mountains of Eastern Europe to connect with Baba Yaga. I recommend that you listen to this episode with your eyes closed, being totally present, so you allow yourself to go on this inner journey.Baba Yaga is the Slavic Wild Witch of the Woods and so much more! Baba Yaga lives in a remote hut that walks through the forest on chicken legs with a fence of human bones and skulls, and she flies in the air in a giant magical mortar and pestle. She usually appears as a hag or crone with a bony leg, and she is known as a shamanic trickster to challenge those who are in need of lessons and transformation.Baba Yaga appears in Slavic and Russian folk and fairy tales over hundreds of years. In these stories, she represents a powerful shape shifting feminist crone archetype that is both heroine and villain, protective grandmother and horribly fierce, and acts as a Shaman or gatekeeper between the living world and the world of spirit and and a guardian of heroes/heroines. Baba Yaga is omniscient - she knows all things. She resides in the domain of the supernatural and holds secret knowledge, which she sometimes reveals to those whom she deems to be deserving of it.Baba Yaga is associated with the deep woods and forests, and the wildness of nature. A force of nature herself, she symbolizes the unpredictable and untameable nature of the female spirit, of Mother Earth, and the relationship of Women to the wild. There are indications that Baba Yaga was once an ancient Pagan Earth Goddess in Slavic mythology that morphed into many complex interpretations throughout the years. Baba Yaga reminds us that we are also ferocious, untameable, wise and capable of our own powerful potential and honoring both the dark and the light within us. The Oracle of Luna with Bridget Engels presents: Gina Martin- Author, Priestess, Healer & Community Circle Leader
Send us Fan MailJoin us in this episode, for an enchanting conversation with Author, Priestess, and community circle leader: Gina Martin! Gina, is the Author of the “When She Wakes” book series (Womancraft Publishing) starting with “Sisters of the Solstice Moon” book taking place in a pre-patriarchal world where priestesses come together and bring Goddess wisdom forward. She has also written a series called “Daughters of the Goddess” and she continues to write more books to this series. The characters in Gina's books have a common thread of amplifying and serving the Goddess so She can be seen, heard, respected and honored again and be invited into our lives. Gina tells us that we can learn so much with Divine Feminine wisdom by being receptive and developing a reciprocal relationship by having a sense of being eager to know Her and She being eager to know us. Similar to indigenous spiritualities who live in concert with the alive forces of the planet. We are one of all species - not the dominant species. This takes time, patience, sensitivity, practice and the ability to be quiet and not distracted which is a hard learning curve for most people given our non-stop consumerist, patriarchal society and our mindset of instant gratification. We chatted about Gina’s role as founding mother and High Priestess of Triple Spiral of Dún na Sidhe, a pagan spiritual congregation in the Hudson Valley, NY area that she created over 25 years ago. They have met every Moon & the Sabbats for 25 years and are now a 501(c)(3) registered congregation. Gina also wanted to have a place where girls through womanhood could learn, be involved and know about the Goddess within this Triple Spiral of Dún na Sidhe circle’s tradition. This Pagan spiritual community has a big 25th anniversary circle celebration planned this Samhain/Halloween.Gina has also composed songs/chants and wrote “WomEnchanting” and with other members of Triple Spiral circle with links to downloadable recordings of sacred songs and chants. Later Molly joined a Unitarian Universalist church training program in Feminists in Thealogy called “Cakes for the Queen of Heaven” and began creating circles and retreats for Women that are earth-based feminist theology practices that she still continues to do.Molly tells us about the mini Goddess statues that she and her husband create and how they embody the sacred Goddess in everyday life. They are a tangible connection to divinity. Molly tells us that her books have a common thread of intentional, creative, everyday enchantment, spiritual living and Goddess devotion that we can all access and help us to participate in the sacred rhythms of life and our own unfolding magic as it is, where it is.Molly writes poetry that she defines as Theapoetics (see link for more details): https://feminismandreligion.com/2012/08/27/theapoetics-by-molly-meade/Poems found Molly in the woods and she believes that everything is a poem if you know where to look and you can see it as it unfolds within and around you. Her writing is inspired by what's here right now. It’s the language of the Goddess that's alive in our own landscapes-wherever we are that we can be nourished and sustained by.
