Burnout Isn’t a Time-Management Problem (It’s a Nervous System Problem) You don’t need another planner. You don’t need more discipline. You don’t need to “try harder.” In this episode, we’re talking about something most teacher productivity advice completely ignores: Your nervous system. I share a time when I had all the right systems in place to make teaching easier — and I still self-sabotaged. I filled my time with unnecessary tasks. Stayed late when I didn’t need to. Made simple planning take hours. Not because I lacked time management. But because calm didn’t feel safe. What if I told you I have my students switch centers or stations everyday without me saying anything? Setting up centers for the first time can be hard. Especially when you're not sure where to even start. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but it can be really hard to navigate as a teacher. So how can you handle the chaotic holiday energy without completely using your mind? Around this time of year, it seems like disruptive behavior is on the rise, and the honeymoon period is over. So what can teachers do about it?   This week, we will be diving into why the honeymoon period ends with your students around this time, and some practical steps you can take to maintain a calm classroom.    October doesn't have to be the hardest month for classroom behaviors. When I was a first year teacher, I struggled with classroom management. My students were constantly out of their seats, they were a chatty class, and I always had to stop instruction to address disruptive behavior. So you just started your first teacher interview and you get the dreaded question 'What is your greatest weakness as a teacher?' The other day I was talking to a First-Year Teacher who asked me what do you do during a teacher interview when you don't know how to answer their question. The reality is that there are thousands of possible teacher interview questions they could ask you. And instead of practicing ALL of them, it's important to use a framework to answer ANY question with confidence.   Today I'm diving into my framework to answering any teacher interview question with ease and confidence. When I applied for my first teaching position, I was TERRIFIED districts wouldn't take me seriously because I was only 21 years old. I had just graduated with my masters, and I had wanted to teach since I was 5 years old.    Fast forward to Spring of 2018, I flew from Oregon to New Mexico for two different job interviews. Both of which regard me to teach a demo lesson. I turned my biggest weakness as a teacher into my biggest strength.    I did TWO interviews on the same day and BOTH of them offered me the teaching position DURING the interview.
