Ray2Go Post Show Blab Ep. 12 - New Or Classic Google Plus
Do you prefer the classic Google+ or the new Google+? Seems a pointless question since we won’t have access to the classic Google+ for very long. “We ripped it (Google+) down and built it back up.” Bradley Horowitz Google never has gotten “social” so this may work out better for them. Just not sure if the non-tech guy on the street cares whether Google gets better personal data so it can continue to pursue its semantic web and Artificial Intelligence goals. I’ll give it time before I make a final decision. It still is in beta and Google is actively seeking out feedback. Product Director at Google, Luke Wroblewski notes that the team is “trying to support advanced user features but working to find the right place for them.”

Ray2Go Blab - Do You Use Patreon for Your Blog?
Do you get paid for doing what you love to do? Who doesn't love to blab? :-) This week's Ray2Go post-show Blab with B.L. Ochman Randy Bowden and me. Who wouldn’t want to be able to afford to do what they love most? If you’re an artist, musician or writer who counts on a day job to subsidize your passions, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’d happily sing “Take This Job and Shove It” if it were an option.

Do You 'Patreonize' Your Favorite Blogger?
Do you get paid for doing what you love to do? Who wouldn’t want to be able to afford to do what they love most? If you’re an artist, musician or writer who counts on a day job to subsidize your passions, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’d happily sing “Take This Job and Shove It” if it were an option. This topic was inspired by a post by Mark Schaefer: Content Under Attack...and a Solution where he introduces us to +Patreon an application that “allows fans and readers to give a little back.” By setting up an account with Patreon, you can donate as much or little as you want to someone’s blog, in this case, Mark’s. While I empathize with artists not getting their due, especially musicians since the advent iTunes and music streaming, I’m struggling with it when it relates to blogging as I see that as a promotional tool for the writer. As a professional blogger/writer, I expect to be paid for my content. As a consultant who uses my blog to help others and in so doing, show off my expertise, I haven’t expected someone to sponsor me. (Although, if you’re offering…) Since Radiohead released their album, In Rainbows on their website in 2007, artists have been looking at other pay models. We’ve spoken about gated content before on the show. Would this be an alternative or used in conjunction with it? Does the financial situation of a creative person figure into whether you choose to support them? Would you give Seth Godin a monthly sponsorship as a token of how much you enjoy his blog or be more prone to support a relatively unknown writer?

What Role Does Empathy Play In Marketing? Ray2Go Ep 10
Do you consider yourself an empathetic person? Would you say your company is empathetic? That will be a very strange question for many business owners. Like "social", the word "empathy" doesn't seem to fit in the context of business. As marketers, we spend a lot of time researching and analyzing data so we have the latest stats and tools with which to do our job. As businesses, we worked hard to get our service or products launched to what we hope will be a public anxious to have what we consider indispensable. We checked all the boxes, completed our SWOT analysis and yet our sales are disappointing. How could people not "get it"? Who are these people? Unless you know who they are, what their needs are, what goes on in their daily life and what needs they have, you're rolling the dice instead of in the cash.

Blab Ray2Go Post Show Ep10 Empathy
Episode 10 of the Ray2Go show was all about "empathy" and its place in business. As usual, we invite our listeners and Twitter connections to join in the conversation in our post-show Blab. This is starting to eclipse the show itself as the discussion gets very free rolling and personal. For example, in this Blab we go from the cultural implications of technology on our ability to be empathetic to "bounce rates" on websites. Enjoy.
