It's Crazy Until It Isn't
This week at The River, Pastor Ryan McVety brought a faith-stretching message titled “It’s Crazy, Until It Isn’t.” It met us right where real life lives. Those moments when God asks you to do something that does not make sense, does not add up, and honestly feels a little crazy. Through the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho, we were reminded that faith often looks foolish before it looks powerful. What God asks of us will not always align with human logic, but it will always lead to His purpose. Because what seems crazy in the moment can become undeniable in the outcome. This message stirred something deep. A reminder that obedience is not about understanding everything. It is about trusting the One who does. Scripture Focus: Joshua 6:3–5 – God gives Joshua an unexpected strategy for Jericho, showing that victory comes through obedience, not human logic. Isaiah 55:8–9 – A reminder that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours, even when we do not understand His instructions. Joshua 6:15–16, 20 – After consistent obedience, the walls finally fall, proving that breakthrough often comes after perseverance. Acts 16:25–26 – Paul and Silas worship in the middle of suffering, and God responds with power, showing that worship is a weapon, not just a reaction. Key Points: 1️⃣ GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS OFTEN DEFY HUMAN LOGIC God does not need our understanding to move, He is looking for our obedience. Again and again in Scripture, His instructions seem unexpected, even unreasonable, but His ways are higher. What feels confusing to us is often the very path to breakthrough. 2️⃣ OBEDIENCE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK CRAZY, BEFORE IT MAKES YOU LOOK RIGHT Following God will not always make sense to people around you. There will be moments where your choices look strange, extreme, or even foolish. But obedience is not about approval, it is about alignment. What looks crazy now will speak for itself later. 3️⃣ JUST BECAUSE IT HASN’T WORKED YET… DOESN’T MEAN IT ISN’T WORKING For six days, nothing changed. No cracks. No signs. But heaven was counting every step of obedience. Just because you cannot see it does not mean God is not building it. Do not quit on day six. You might be one step away from breakthrough. Live It Out: This week, let this message move from a moment into your everyday life: 🔥 Obey even when it does not make sense Do not wait for clarity before you move. Trust God enough to take the next step. 👀 Stop worrying about how it looks to others Obedience is not about perception. It is about trusting God more than people. ⏳ Stay faithful when you see no results God is working beneath the surface. Keep going. 🎶 Choose worship as your strategy Worship is not just a response. It is how we fight, trust, and move forward.

Faithful over Famous
Faithful Over Famous: Cultivating a Life of Steadfast DevotionPastor Brendan Witton delivers a powerful message challenging believers to prioritize faithfulness over fame in a culture obsessed with going viral and being noticed. He emphasizes that while the world celebrates quick success and instant gratification, God is looking for people who will be faithful in the small things, through difficult seasons, and over the long haul. This sermon explores faithfulness as a fruit of the Holy Spirit that must be cultivated through connection to God, rooted in His inherent faithfulness toward us. Pastor Witton calls the congregation to examine their faithfulness in multiple areas: to the Lord Himself, to His Word, to their calling, to the church, to their marriages, with little things, and especially when circumstances are hard. The message concludes with an encouragement that faithfulness may not be flashy or trending, but it is one of the most powerful qualities believers can build in their lives.Key Points:Faithfulness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that comes from being connected to the vine and allowing God to work in our livesGod's faithfulness is the foundation for our faithfulness—we can be faithful because He is faithful to usWe are called to be faithful to the Lord above all else, maintaining Him as our first loveFaithfulness to God's Word means staying committed to Scripture whether it's popular or not, in season and out of seasonEvery believer has a calling from God, and we must stay faithful to that unique call without comparing ourselves to othersBeing faithful to the church means serving, connecting, and interceding rather than criticizingFaithfulness in marriage requires commitment to the covenant even through challenging seasonsWe must learn to be faithful with little things before God can entrust us with greater thingsThe greatest test of faithfulness comes when circumstances are difficult and things aren't going as plannedFaithfulness isn't flashy and doesn't go viral, but it's what God values mostScripture Reference:Galatians 5:22-23 (Fruit of the Spirit, including faithfulness)Psalm 36:5 (God's faithfulness reaches to the clouds)Lamentations 3:22-23 (God's mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness)1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it)2 Thessalonians 3:3 (The Lord is faithful; He will establish and guard you)Revelation 19:11 (Jesus called Faithful and True)1 Samuel 12:24 (Serve Him faithfully with all your heart)Matthew 25:20-21 (Parable of the talents—"Well done, good and faithful servant")1 Corinthians 4:2 (It is required of stewards that they be found faithful)Matthew 22 (The Great Commandment—love God with all your heart)Matthew 4:4 (Man does not live by bread alone)Matthew 25:23 (Faithful over little, set over much)Psalm 23 (The Lord is my shepherd)2 Chronicles 7:14 (If my people humble themselves and pray)

Silence Is Not Absence

They believed the storm meant they were alone. But Jesus invites us to focus on Him instead. In this episode we discuss:• Why storms reveal what we truly believe • Why silence does not mean God is inactive • How to shift your focus from the storm to the Savior • How worship realigns your heart in difficult seasonsScriptures referencedMark 4:35–41 Matthew 14:23–30 Psalm 22:3If Jesus is in your boat, the storm cannot sink you.

Don’t Get Used to God
In this message from Season 14 Episode 8, Pastor Ryan McVety delivers a powerful reminder about spiritual hunger. In Psalm 63, David cries out: “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you.”Yet many believers today have stopped thirsting for God, not because He isn’t present, but because He has always been present. What is always available is easy to take for granted.Using the story of the woman at the well in John 4, this message exposes the empty wells our culture teaches us to drink from:success relationships money platform pleasureEach one promises fulfillment, yet leaves us thirsty again. But Jesus offers something different. He offers living water that satisfies the deepest thirst of the human soul. And when someone truly encounters that living water, everything changes. The woman left her jar behind and became a witness that led an entire town to Christ. This sermon challenges listeners to return to their first love for Jesus, rediscover spiritual desperation, and move from getting used to God to being used by God.Key ScripturesPsalm 63:1 John 4:6–18 John 4:28–30 John 4:39 Matthew 5:6 Revelation 2:4–5

What’s the Soundtrack of Your Soul?
What’s the Soundtrack of Your Soul? | Pastor Ryan McVety | The River Worship Season 13 Episode 14 Season FinaleWatch this Powerful Christian Sermon on Focus, Faith & Overcoming AnxietySpotify Wrapped just exposed your listening habits… but what if Heaven released the Wrapped of your mind?Pastor Ryan’s message asks a question that will define your entire spiritual life:👉 What is the soundtrack of your soul? 👉 What have you been putting on repeat—praise or pity, worship or worry, the voice of Heaven or the voice of anxiety? In this transformative sermon, Pastor Ryan McVety breaks down a life-changing biblical principle:1. What You Magnify Will MultiplyYour mind is never silent. The soundtrack you focus on—fear, stress, comparison, or God’s promises—becomes the soundtrack of your soul. David says in Psalm 34, “O magnify the Lord… let His praise be continually on your lips.” Because what you stare at grows, and what you magnify multiplies.2. What Voice You Magnify Determines Your StepsJust like Jesus in Matthew 3–4, you are constantly choosing between two voices: ⚡ The voice of Heaven (“You are My beloved”) ⚡ The voice of hell (“If you really are…”)Your “Top Artist” this year—your dominant internal voice—will shape your decisions, your confidence, and your destiny.3. Peter Shows Us the Power of FocusIn Matthew 14, Peter walks on water as long as his eyes are on Jesus. The moment he magnifies the storm, he sinks.Same storm. Same waves. The only difference? Focus. When you magnify Jesus, you step into miracles. When you magnify fear, you sink in the very thing God called you to walk over.A New Soundtrack for Your Soul Begins NOWFear, anxiety, shame, comparison—these have been the “Top Songs” in too many minds this year. But tonight, Heaven releases a new soundtrack:Faith. Peace. Courage. Identity. Jesus. He is the voice that affirms you. He is the One who sees you in every storm. He is the One who catches you when you fall. Life is a Contact Sport
Life is a Contact Sport | Pastor Ryan McVety | The River WorshipWhat’s the difference between brushing shoulders with Jesus and actually receiving your miracle? In Mark 5, the woman with the issue of blood shows us: it’s not casual faith, it’s costly faith.👉 While the crowd pressed around Jesus, only one woman was healed. Why? She didn’t just believe He could—she acted with conviction, risking everything to reach Him. That one moment of costly contact not only healed her body but restored her identity. Jesus called her daughter—the only time in all of Scripture He gave someone that name.In this powerful message, Pastor Ryan McVety unpacks: ✅ The difference between casual contact and costly faith ✅ Why faith without action doesn’t work ✅ How Jesus restores more than your body—He restores your identity, your future, your family, your name ✅ Why your breakthrough may be one step of conviction away🚨 Stop wondering if God will move. Start believing He WILL. Your faith in action is what compels heaven to respond.📖 Scripture: Mark 5:21–34 | Mark 9:21–24🙌 Watch until the end—you’ll never look at faith the same way again.

.Peace In His Pace
Missed Episode 3 of The River Worship’s Season 13?Pastor Ryan preached “Peace in His Pace,” reminding us that God doesn’t just care about where we’re going, but how we get there. David was anointed king, but before the crown came the field, the delivery run, and a lot of waiting. Yet none of it was wasted. The pasture wasn’t a detour—it was preparation. God often uses the mundane to shape us for the miraculous, and when we move at His pace instead of our own, we find peace, purpose, and power right where we are.Scripture Focus:In Psalm 27, David reminds his soul to wait with courage. But long before the palace, God’s plan unfolded through a simple invitation—to Jesse’s house, where David was anointed in 1 Samuel 16:3. The promise was real, but the process was long. These two verses frame the tension we often live in: we’re called, but not yet crowned; anointed, but still tending sheep. The peace isn’t found in the pace we want—but in the pace God sets.• Psalm 27:14: “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”• 1 Samuel 16:3: “Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.”Key Points:Anointing doesn’t skip the waiting: David was anointed to be king—but before the throne came the sheep, the Uber Eats delivery, and a whole lot of obedience. You may be anointed, but the pasture still has purpose. The wait prepares you for the weight: David didn’t kill Goliath with a sword. He used a sling—something he mastered during his waiting season. What you learn while waiting will equip you for what’s ahead. There is peace in His pace, chaos in ours: God’s pace comes with His presence, provision, and power. But when we mute His pace and follow our own tempo, things quickly fall out of sync. Let Him set the rhythm.Live It Out:If you’re in a season of waiting, wondering, or wandering, you’re not alone. The question is: can you keep saying “yes” to God even when the assignment doesn’t match the anointing? Here are a few ways to walk this out intentionally this week:Obey before you understand: Even if it feels small, stay faithful in the field you’re in. God sees it, and He’s using it.Let go of your timeline: God’s speed is better than your speed. Trust His process—it always leads to peace.Keep the click in your ear: Like a band follows the click track, we must follow God’s pace. Don’t mute Him.

Don't Give Me What I Want
In This Sermon, Pastor Ryan explores the journey of spiritual maturity, moving from a self-centered approach of asking God for what we want, to understanding what we truly need, and ultimately realizing that our deepest need is for Jesus Himself. He emphasizes God's wisdom in answering prayers with "yes," "no," or "not yet," highlighting that God's perspective is higher than ours and that He gives us what we need rather than always what we want. The message encourages believers to trust in God's timing and decisions, even when they don't align with our immediate desires.Key Points:God answers prayers in three ways: yes, no, and not yetMature Christianity involves thanking God for both the yes and the noOur wants often differ from our needs, and God knows bestSpiritual growth involves moving from wanting things to needing God HimselfTrusting God's wisdom and timing, even when we don't understandThe importance of seeking a relationship with God over material blessingsScripture Reference:Philippians 4:19 - "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."Isaiah 55:8-9 - God's thoughts and ways being higher than oursJohn 4:10 - Jesus offering living water to the Samaritan womanPsalm 73:25 - "Whom have I in heaven but you? I'm Fine
🎧 Episode Title: I’m Fine 🗓️ Season 12, Episode 7 – The River Worship 🗣️ Message by Pastor Ryan McVety"I’m fine." It’s what we say… even when it’s not true.In this vulnerable and Spirit-led episode, Pastor Ryan McVety takes us into the quiet, hidden corners of our lives — the places where shame, guilt, and sin live beneath the surface. We pretend we’re fine while silently carrying a weight that was never ours to bear.💬 “The weight doesn’t change. We do. We get weaker under it.”You’ll be challenged to stop performing, stop pretending, and let Jesus carry what He already paid for. Because the truth is:🔹 You can’t heal what you won’t hand over. 🔹 God wants the whole cup — not just your highlights. 🔹 "I’m fine" is code for "I’m drowning, but I don’t want you to know." 🔹 You’re not disqualified by your mess — you’re qualified by your Christ.📖 Scriptures to follow along with:Psalm 32:3–7Isaiah 53:5Luke 15:21Romans 5:8Psalm 103:4Matthew 11:28–30Matthew 26:39This isn’t a message about carrying more — it’s an invitation to carry nothing at all. 📌 Jesus chose the cup so you don’t have to. 🎙️ Tune in and let this message speak to the part of you still pretending you're “fine.”—🔗 Be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode with someone who’s been carrying too much for too long.

He Shall Have Dominion From Sea To Sea
Pastor Ryan McVety delivered a passionate message rooted in Canadian history and Scripture, calling us to believe for revival from coast to coast. What started as a party turned into a powerful declaration: “He Shall Have Dominion From Sea to Sea, and From THE RIVER Unto the Ends of the Earth” And guess what? That promise isn’t just poetic—it’s prophetic. There’s a move of God stirring in our land. It may have felt like the Church in Canada was asleep, but this season? We’re waking up. And we’re not trickling in—we’re flowing like a river.Scripture Focus:Psalm 72:8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.2 Chronicles 20:21-22Key Points:GOD’S PROMISES ARE NOT WRITTEN IN PENCIL: God’s word is not temporary or subject to change—it’s engraved in stone. Just like Psalm 72:8 is carved into the foundation of our nation, His promises are unshakable. No failure, opinion, or circumstance can erase what God has spoken over your life or this land.HE SHALL HAVE DOMINION ALSO FROM SEA TO SEA…: This isn’t just a poetic phrase—it’s a prophetic declaration. God still reigns over Canada. Even when it feels like the fire has gone out, revival is stirring. The church isn’t dead; it’s waking up. The season is shifting, and it’s time to step into the fire with boldness and faith.AND FROM THE RIVER UNTO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH: You are The River. You were made to flow—to bring revival, not just here but across nations. Worship isn’t a warmup; it’s a weapon. And revival isn’t a distant hope—it’s your assignment. So release the sound, declare His dominion, and flow with power.Live It Out:So how do we respond to a message like this? What do we do with the reminder that God still reigns and that we are The River? Here are a few ways to live this message out and carry revival wherever you go:Speak Life Over Canada :Instead of echoing negativity, declare God’s promises. Speak hope, truth, and life over your city, your generation, and this nation. Let your words align with heaven’s assignment.Pray Like Revival Depends On It:Prayer is not passive—it’s powerful. Set aside time this week to intercede for Canada. Ask God to move from sea to sea, and from your life to the ends of the earth.Worship Boldly, Live Loudly:Don’t hold back your praise. Your worship is your weapon. Whether in your car, your church, or your quiet time—worship with everything you’ve got. Flow like the River you were made to be.Be The River Wherever You Go:You weren’t made to trickle—you were made to flow. Look for opportunities this week to bring life, joy, and bold faith into your school, job, or community. Let revival move through you.

Old Things - Spirit of Fear
Welcome to the second message in our series Old Things! Last week, we learned that God has new things for us, but it’s time to “put off the old self” (Ephesians 4:22) and step into the freedom He’s called us to.In this powerful sermon, Pastor Ryan McVety tackles the Spirit of Fear—a tool the enemy uses to keep us from God’s promises. But here’s the truth: fear may be part of life, but it doesn’t have to control us. God has given us His Spirit of Truth to guide, strengthen, and equip us to step out in courage, even when we feel scared.📖 Key Scriptures:Galatians 5:13-25Proverbs 9:10John 14:17💡 Highlights:Fear isn’t always bad—it can inform us—but walking in a Spirit of Fear keeps us stuck.- True wisdom starts with a fear of the Lord, not fear of man.- Anxiety doesn’t define you—it’s not your identity or a life sentence.- God calls us to “do it scared,” trusting that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. This week, ask yourself: What spirit are you walking in? Pastor Ryan challenged us to fix our focus on God, not on negativity, criticism, or offense, which the enemy uses to steal our joy. Instead, he urged us to magnify the Lord, allowing His consuming fire to burn away everything that tries to steal our peace and purpose.Key Points:Magnify the LordGuard Your JoyLight a FireLive It Out:This week, intentionally shift your focus by magnifying the Lord whenever negativity or criticism arises, replacing it with praise for who God is and the blessings in your life. Guard your joy by being mindful of the "little things" the enemy uses to distract and discourage you, choosing not to let offense take root. Spend time in worship, prayer, and reflection, asking God to set a fire in your soul that renews your passion and focus on Him.Subscribe to get the latest videos and songs: https://www.youtube.com/@theriver.worshipFor More Information About The River, Visit:LinkTree: http://www.linktr.ee/theriver.worshipWebsite: http://www.theriverworship.caGiving: http://www.theriverworship.ca/giveMerch: http://www.therivershop.caConnect with us on Socials:Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/theriver.worshipInstagram | https://www.instagram.com/theriver.worshipTikTok | https://www.tiktok.com/@theriverworshipThreads | https://www.threads.net/@theriver.worshipYoutube: youtube.com/@theriver.worshipListen to our music, podcast, and sermons:Amazon Music | https://shorturl.at/jovwKApple Music | https://shorturl.at/dLWZ4Spotify Music | https://shorturl.at/fuCT8YouTube Music | https://shorturl.at/hisJLSpotify Setlists | https://shorturl.at/aqrJQSpotify Podcast | https://shorturl.at/jnzLWLearn more about Canada Christian College: www.canadachristiancollege.com Want to join us at The River for a worship experience? Wind and Waves
Pastor Ryan McVety shared a moving message titled "The Wind and Waves," based on Matthew 7:24-27. He reminded us that storms come to everyone—wise or foolish—but what makes the difference is the foundation we stand on. Pastor Ryan encouraged us not to fear the unexpected winds or relentless waves of life because, with God as our Rock, we can stand firm. He also shared how God can use even the fiercest storms for our good and His glory. Scripture Focus: Matthew 7:24-27 Isaiah 54:17 Acts 27:14 Mark 4:35-41 John 3:16 Key Points: The Wind and Waves are Coming The Wind and Waves Will Not End Your Story Do Not Fear The Wind and Waves Anymore Live It Out: Reflect on the storms in your life—those unexpected winds and relentless waves. Are you standing on the Rock or trying to face them on your own? This week, invite God to strengthen your foundation. Spend time in prayer, asking Him to reveal how He’s using your challenges to shape you and glorify His name. Step out in faith, trusting that He is greater than the storm and will see you through. And above all, remember: you don’t need to fear the wind and waves when the One they obey is with you.

Rescue Ship Christianity
We were honored to have guest speaker Pastor Brendan Witton, who shared a powerful message titled “Rescue Ship Christianity.” Pastor Brendan spoke from Matthew 28:18-20 and challenged us to see ourselves not as passengers on a cruise ship focused on comfort but as part of a rescue mission—one where we are called to share the gospel and bring people to Jesus. He reminded us that, though we share the message, it's ultimately God who does the saving.Scripture Focus:Matthew 28:18-20Key Points:Cruise Ship Christian or a Rescue Ship ChristianNegative Cycle:Phase 1 = DutyPhase 2 = DiscouragementPhase 3 = DistractionThe 7 Languages of Evangelism:Confrontational EvangelismFriendship EvangelismService EvangelismTestimonial EvangelismApologetic EvangelismPrayer EvangelismInvitational EvangelismLive It Out:Take some time to reflect on the role you play in God’s mission. From friendship and service to prayer and invitations, God has given us many ways to reach out. This week, ask God to show you where He’s calling you to step out, and trust Him to do the work of saving.
