The Road

We are called to share God's word of grace, hope, and life for the sake of our neighbor, even in the face of adversity.

Believing cannot be confined to your mind, but must show through the compassion in your heart and the action of your hands in caring for all.

We're quick to judge others by outwards actions and practices. While actions matter, Jesus reminds us that true integrity and transformation begins in the heart. Pastor Jon talks about how we can do the simple work of paying attention to our hearts first.

Faith is a gift of God which works to carry out the grandest designs of love, grace, and caring through quiet and ordinary people like us.

God calls us to simple commitment and devotion to act concretely on behalf of our neighbors and what is good.

The grace and love of God are like mustard seeds and yeast, relentless catalysts that grow and change our lives and our community, bringing the kingdom and community God intended near to us.

It's not our job to separate the wheat from the weeds, but simply to care so that all may flourish.

Generosity is an expression of defiance that combats a sense of scarcity and fear. It's a spiritual practice and social practice that builds hope.

Spreading God's wisdom and new way of life inevitably confronts real world challenges. This new life for us and our communities requires open hearts, prepared to understand our responsibility to care for others and honor the one who created us.

In humility and trust, we're called to listen and receive the wisdom of God's grace, knowing that God's love and truth is available to us and to all. In following this gracious wisdom, we will see its value and abundant effects come alive in our community and society.

God calls on us to speak out against injustice and exploitation, and instead pursue a world of peace where all are accepted and loved.

Jesus called his followers to a wider circle of commitment, which he knew would cause disruption to a social order shaped profoundly by families and tribes. Today, in faith, we carry on the call to love every neighbor.

Jesus called his students to form a new community based in a message of good news that extended into every realm of life, bringing healing and hope.

In Jesus' teachings, death and resurrection we see a pattern of humility, service and love given generously to us and our neighbors. His witness remains with us forever. Our own life and witness ensures this way of life continues.

The Spirit breathes new life into us all, restoring us to community.

Faith brings renewal and hope, but we have to wait patiently for our life and the world to be perfected. The alternative is that we force a future that undermines the very spirit of faith.

By the grace and love of God we find belonging and acceptance, and we find purpose in sharing that love with all our neighbors.

It is through our relationship with Christ, and our relationships in community as siblings in Christ, that we together reflect God's love

The way of grace and love that Jesus taught provides us with values to build community and spread joy and unity.

The stories we tell shape us and our community. In the passion story, we come to understand what is good and true, and we find a road to healing and redemption.

Out of whatever fractures we see and experience in our life and the world, we have been given a new life as a living hope that brings peace and restoration.

Easter brings a hope that engages the real pain of our world, and which has spread beyond control for the life of the world.

Although the celebration of Palm Sunday fades, it points us toward the passion and sacrifice of Jesus, which still fosters an enduring joy and merits our ongoing praise.

Jesus rebelled agaisnt the dangers he faced, the grief and suffering he witnessed, and he acted with hope and compassion. We are called to do the same for the sake of our neighbors and the world, which Jesus loves.

Jesus creates an offense by performing a compassionate act of healing on a day of ritual rest. In the end this shows who sees clearly and with compassion, and who uses rules to justify human judgement and control that don't align with God's own heart and will.

The community of true faith that is seeking to live and share God's love and blessings with every neighbor awaits us, if we are willing to step out our door and be swept away by God's Spirit.

The heart we draw upon to confront evils is the same one we employ to engage with others in respect.

We are called to be witness to God's grace, truth and life in our time. We do so with no guarantees about how it will be heard or lived out. But, we can trust that God continues to be at work and present in ways that we can't fully anticipate, and we certainly can't control.

In our words and actions, we are the salt of the earth, and the light of the world. We are called to bring seasoning and joy to life, to heal wounds, and illuminate God's love for all to see and experience.

We stand with people who have come to see with the same eyes as Jesus that blessings and honor belong to those who are often overlooked. When you embrace that same vision, you will come to see that you belong too, because there is nothing that distinguishes us in this life that makes us more worthy of God's blessings. It is our very humble humanity that God sees with love.

Jesus invites us to see the light—to see our neighbors with his own grace and compassion. It requires discipline and there will be moments when we falter, but we are called to have the same mind as Jesus.

Faith requires us to answer the question of what we're looking for. It asks us to look beyond our immediate needs and wants, and to see what is sacred and eternal.

In a moment in which heaven and earth converge, a message comes from God at Jesus' baptism, and we must decide whether we will receive the one who is called beloved into our own lives.

Jesus came as the true light into our world, bearing truth and grace. We grow as children of God when we embrace this incarnate light.

The good news of God's love and grace, that began with the Christmas story, has always posed an alternative and a challenge to rulers from Herod to the present.

God comes amidst the fractured places of our lives and world—into our uncertainties, failures and fears—and brings a radiant grace, filled with truth, peace and hope.

Prophets like Isaiah and John foresaw a messiah who would come and set things right in the world. When we look to God's coming with reverence and awe, we prepare our own lives. We become ready to cast away whatever parts of ourselves are not in sync with God's vision of love and mercy for the poor and those oppressed.

Isaiah spoke of a time when God would bring peace. God invites us to welcome this and dedicate ourselves to walking in this way of light and peace.

In the cross, we see that God is vulnerable and willing to sacrifice for us, even to the point of death. God rules with love and grace, rather than fear, meaning that we share in God's blessings and can share them in turn.

We continue to light candles symbolically every week, and let the light of God's gracious Word shine, as a reminder of God's presence with us through our life's journey. This has always been our mission and always will be.

Jesus extends an invitation to meet with a man who is an outcast to his people and it leads to transformation and redemption.

As the Church we gather in the presence of all the faithful, past and present, and live into our calling to be light for this moment in time, bringing hope and grace to the world.

In God's grace we are no longer divided, but made into one common humanity. In this is true freedom.

It is in both praying and pursuing justice that we hope to transform the broken world we live in and our own hearts in the process.

The grace and love of Jesus brings healing to our world, and we have the gift of his light to expand the sphere of his grace and healing to all.

Jesus calls us to forgive others and save them and us from further damage to our relationships and the social fabric.

Today is the day to move beyond complacency and embrace God's compassion for all, and to live with a spirit of generosity.

The need for justice in the world requires the voice of prophets, but perhaps even more importantly the companionship of true friends across divides who can reflect care and truth in our lives.
