While it is true that all black women were created equal, not all black women are treated equally. Black sororities have historically admitted some black women and rejected others. Misogyny is so dangerous and the way that the media perpetuates it has really dangerous implications for how women are allowed to live and express their freedom. My hope is that this podcast contributes to a larger conversation about women being able to live freely and holding the media accountable for perpetuating sexism.

Colorism is systemic. It cannot and should not be reduced to your "feelings". Coming off of the heels of Donald Trump's presidency and this general culture of thinking it's ok to say bizarre and contentious things just because, colorism shouldn't ever be used as clickbait for your views, likes, and social media engagement. It is real. It is painful. It causes irreparable damage. When you discuss colorism, please show deference.

As black women continue to ascend into increasingly public roles and positions, the attacks on them will amplify.
