The Terrifying Freedom of Being Seen - What Happens When You Stop Hiding

This episode is about creativity, reinvention, visibility and what happens when you stop shrinking yourself to fit other people’s expectations. Are you sick and tired of waiting for everything, including you, to be “perfect” before you begin? This week on Stronger Sunday Stories, I’m talking honestly about what launching The Stronger Stuff Show has actually brought up for me emotionally, creatively and personally… and why episode 10 feels like a turning point. Because somewhere along the way, while building this podcast, I realized I’d accidentally started tempering myself inside my own show. Trying to be calmer. More polished. More “respectable.” Like I was slowly turning myself into some sort of serious podcast woman I didn’t even recognize. Meanwhile in real life? I’m moving country, homeschooling two teenage boys, relaunching my music career at 53, looking for a new home in London… and trying to learn social media without accidentally sticking Spotify links across my own face in Instagram Stories. And honestly? The hardest part of launching this show hasn’t been the interviews, the editing, the posting or the tech. It’s been being seen. Not hiding anymore. Not endlessly planning and waiting until I feel ready, look better, know more or have everything figured out. Actually putting myself out there publicly in real time.Messily. Imperfectly. As myself. And what’s surprised me most is this:The more I share… the freer I feel. Not fearless.Just less interested in letting fear stop me. Because I think a lot of women quietly spend years trying to become:appropriate, palatable, professional, less emotional, less loud, less themselves. And I'm realizing that part of this journey for me has been seeing that being myself actually IS getting it right. Because I believe our Stronger Stuff is about being fully alive as ourselves. The chaos. The humor. The heartbreak. The ambition. The stories. The music. The fear. The courage to keep going anyway. So right now I’m technically homeless in London, relaunching my music career, building this show in real time, posting things that make me uncomfortable daily… and somehow feeling more alive than I have in years. Maybe that’s what happens when you stop hiding...You stop waiting for permission. You stop waiting to become someone else before you begin. And instead… you just start building your life out loud. And somehow that becomes the freedom. #TheStrongerStuffShow #StrongerSundayStories #CreativeReinvention #FearOfBeingSeen #WomenWhoCreate #Authenticity #MidlifeCreativity #WomenInMusic #CreativeWomen #StartBeforeYoureReady #Reinvention Stay Connected:Please follow us and share the show to keep the us going strong! Your Body Remembers Everything - Trauma, Anger, Sex, Shame & Emotional Triggers | Alisa Lollback

Your body remembers everything. The shame. The anger. The fear.Even the things you think you’ve moved past. And emotional triggers that make absolutely no sense… until suddenly they do. At several points during this conversation I felt genuinely exposed. I felt like this amazing woman could see straight through me. And she’d never even met me before. In this episode of The Stronger Stuff Show, I sit down with psychologist, body psychotherapist and Core Energetics teacher Alisa Lollback for one of the most fascinating conversations we’ve had on the show. Why do some people become perfectionists, people pleasers, controllers or high achievers? Why do certain moments trigger huge emotional reactions? Why do many of our adult relationship patterns begin in childhood?According to Alisa, the answers live in the body. After this episode you will understand yourself - and the people you love - differently. From trauma, anger and boundaries to shame, guilt, parenting, relationships and nervous system regulation, we explore how our childhood wounds quietly shape the adults we become.WE TALK ABOUT:why anger is actually healthywhy suppressing emotions creates disease in the bodythe hidden roots of perfectionism and controlwhy some people never feel safe or like they belonghow unresolved childhood wounds show up in the adult emotional baggage, fear and shame we carry into sexwhy couples are often fighting about the past - not the dishwasherthe LOWER SELF HANGOVER after conflictgrounding techniques to calm overwhelmhow to repair ruptures with your children and partnerwhy self-awareness creates freedom This conversation is deep, emotional, practical and full of moments that will make you stop and think: “Oooh… THAT’S why I do that!”IN THIS EPISODE:Trauma stored in the bodyCore Energetics explainedAnxiety, anger & nervous system regulationChildhood wounds & adult relationshipsBoundaries, people pleasing & controlShame, guilt & self-criticismParenting & repairing emotional rupturesEmotional healing & embodimentGrounding exercises & breathworkThe connection between emotions & physical illness WHAT YOU’LL TAKE FROM THIS EPISODE:Why you react the way you doHow emotions become trapped in the bodyPractical tools to ground yourself during conflictA deeper understanding of your relationship patternsWhy awareness changes the way you react, love and relate to peoplePERFECT FOR LISTENERS NAVIGATING:Anxiety, overwhelm or emotional triggersPeople pleasing and boundary issuesChildhood trauma or abandonment woundsRelationship conflict and communicationParenting guilt and emotional repairPerfectionism, shame or self-criticismWanting to feel more grounded and emotionally aware #TheStrongerStuffShow #TraumaHealing #CoreEnergetics #NervousSystemHealing #EmotionalHealing #SelfAwareness #BodyPsychotherapy #Boundaries #RelationshipHealing #EmotionalTriggers #RelationshipPatternsStay Connected:Follow us and share the show to keep us going strong! The Quiet Voice That Changed Everything - Trusting Yourself When No One Else Understands

Have you ever made a decision…that made complete sense to you…even when no one else understood it and they all thought you were crazy? In this episode of Stronger Sunday Stories, I share the moments that shaped my life - not because they were logical… but because I knew they were right. Leaving Australia at 20.Moving to Paris on my own.Falling in love and moving to Hong Kong with someone I barely knew.Quitting a really successful career to go and make music.Selling everything, including our home, in London and starting again in LA. From the outside? They looked reckless. To me?They felt right. This isn’t about taking risks for the sake of it.It’s about trusting the voice that doesn’t need approval. Because the times I’ve got it wrong… that have really messed me up… Have always been when I didn’t listen to that quiet voice. When I didn’t trust myself. When I listened to other people’s voices, more than my own. That quiet voice? It doesn’t need to convince anyone. It just knows. And when I listen to it…I don’t need anyone else to agree. And I figured outThat, that…is my Stronger Stuff. IN THIS EPISODE WE SHARE:Trusting your gut vs overthinkingBig life decisions that don’t need validationMoving countries, careers and relationshipsThe difference between fear and knowingWhy self-trust is built through action WHAT YOU’LL TAKE OUT:How to recognize your own inner knowingWhy you don’t need external validationThe cost of ignoring yourselfWhat real self-trust looks like PERFECT FOR LISTENERS NAVIGATING:Big life decisions that don’t make sense to anyone elseTrusting your gut vs listening to outside opinionsCareer changes, relocations, or starting overFollowing instinct in relationships and loveOverthinking, self-doubt, and second-guessingWanting to trust yourself again #TheStrongerStuffShow #StrongerSundayStories #TrustYourself #FollowYourGut #LifeDecisions #Intuition #SelfTrust #StartingOver #MidlifeWomen #PersonalGrowth Stay Connected:Please follow us and share the show to keep the us going strong! High Fashion, Burnout & Imposter Syndrome - Why Success Still Feels Like a Fraud | Susan Walbrook

What if you could have the dream career… flying first class, working with global fashion brands… and still feel like a complete fraud? In this episode of The Stronger Stuff Show, I sit down with Susan Walbrook - former senior womenswear designer with 26 years in the global fashion industry, working at the highest level across major brands and creative teams.  On paper, she had it all. But internally?A constant voice saying:“You don’t belong here.” “You’re going to get found out.”  From art college to global fashion houses, Susan carried a relentless belief that she wasn’t good enough - pushing herself harder, working longer, striving for perfection… and never feeling it land. Until her body stopped her. In 2018, burnout hit. And everything changed. This is a conversation about what happens when high performance masks deep insecurity - and what it really takes to rebuild your identity, confidence and creative voice from the ground up. Today, Susan is founder of Trust Your Creative, working with global brands, creative leaders and founders - helping them overcome imposter syndrome, rewire their thinking, and unlock real creative confidence. This isn’t theory. This is lived experience - from inside one of the most demanding, perfection-driven industries in the world. IN THIS EPISODE:Life inside high-pressure fashion and creative industriesImposter syndrome at the highest levelThe reality behind “dream careers”Perfectionism, overwork and burnoutThe moment everything broke - 2018 turning pointHow self-doubt becomes your defaultThe hidden cost of successThe “Me File” - rebuilding confidence with evidenceRewiring your brain - neuroplasticityHow to handle fear before big presentationsWhy your inner critic isn’t the enemy WHAT YOU’LL TAKE FROM THIS EPISODE:Why success doesn’t remove self-doubtHow imposter syndrome actually worksThe link between perfectionism, burnout & identityPractical tools to interrupt negative thinkingHow to rebuild confidence from real evidenceA new way to work with your inner criticWhat real creative confidence actually looks like PERFECT FOR LISTENERS NAVIGATINGImposter syndrome / self-doubtHigh-performance careersBurnout & overworkPerfectionism Creative or corporate pressureIdentity & career transitionsWomen in fashion, business, media or leadership  #TheStrongerStuffShow #ImposterSyndrome #BurnoutRecovery #CreativeConfidence #WomenInBusiness #WomenInFashion #Perfectionism #SelfDoubt #Leadership #CareerGrowthStay Connected:If you loved this episode please follow us and share it to keep the show going strong!  Join the community & flex your Stronger Stuff @mystrongerstuff Follow The Stronger Stuff Show:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mystrongerstuff/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61587590469654LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/minna-walker-75130a138 Follow Minna |Artist Pixie Revolution:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pixierevolution/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/minna.walker.10Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068923526719 Susan Walbrook: www.trustyourcreative.com Music Credit:Music is written, performed and produced by Minna | Pixie Revolution. © 2026 Pixie Revolution. People-Pleasing Isn’t Kindness - It’s Fear (Why You Keep Saying Yes When You Don’t Want To)

Have you ever said yes… when you really wanted to say no? Or agreed to something to keep the peace… and felt yourself disappear a little bit in the process? This is something so many women experience - especially in midlife - without even realizing it. In this episode of Stronger Sunday Stories, Minna shares the moment she realized her People-Pleasing wasn’t kindness at all. It was fear. Fear of being judged.Fear of being misunderstood.... Of not being liked. For years, she thought being agreeable, supportive, and “good” was the right thing to do. But underneath that… she was abandoning herself. From staying silent in meetings to constantly second-guessing what others wanted to hear, this episode explores how People-Pleasing quietly disconnects you from your own voice - and how it links to something much deeper. This isn’t about blame. It’s about seeing it clearly - and what changes when you do. IN THIS EPISODE, I SHARE:Why People-Pleasing is often learned survivalThe connection between People-Pleasing and FearHow constantly adapting to others erodes self-trustThe moment I realized I’d been abandoning myselfWhy “being nice” can actually create disconnectionA simple shift that helped me start trusting myself againHow to begin setting boundaries without forcing it WHAT YOU’LL TAKE FROM THIS EPISODE:Why saying yes doesn’t always mean you’re being kindHow to recognize People-Pleasing in real timeThe emotional cost of overriding yourselfWhy boundaries don’t have to be dramaticA simple way to Pause before respondingHow self-trust starts to come back PERFECT FOR LISTENERS NAVIGATING:People-Pleasing and overthinking Fear of upsetting others Confidence and self-worth Struggling to say noIdentity and self-trust Midlife shifts and boundaries  00:00 Why People-Pleasing is hard to see00:45 Fear, safety and “being good”01:00 The moment I let myself down01:20 The truth about People-Pleasing01:30 Losing your sense of self02:30 The boundary realization02:50 “I’ll get back to you” - the People-Pleasing Pause03:20 Rebuilding self-trust03:50 What to notice this week to build your Stronger Stuff #TheStrongerStuffShow #StrongerSundayStories #StrongerStuff #PeoplePleasing #SelfWorth #Boundaries #Confidence #MidlifeWomen #GenXWomen #SelfTrust Stay Connected:Please follow us and share the show to keep the us going strong! Have you ever felt like you’re somehow behind, not enough, or doing life wrong? Like everyone else has it figured out… except you? This is something so many of us experience - especially in midlife, when we start questioning our direction, confidence, and self-worth. In this episode of Stronger Sunday Stories, Minna shares a deeply personal moment from the aftermath of her burn - lying on the sofa, unable to move, questioning everything - when she realized just how much comparison had been quietly running her life. Not in an obvious way. In a subtle, constant way that shaped her decisions, her confidence, and what she believed was possible. Because comparison doesn’t just steal your joy. It pulls you out of your own life.IN THIS EPISODE, I SHARE:Why comparison feels so real even when it's notThe hidden fear underneath comparing yourself to othersHow comparison keeps you stuck and disconnected from your own pathWhat actually happens when you start doing what you really wantThe moment everything shifted: “Whose life am I even comparing mine to anyway?”How to come back to yourself without forcing or fixing This isn’t about “stop comparing”. It’s about seeing it clearly - and what changes when you do. If you’ve ever felt behind, not enough, or unsure of your direction… this one is for you.PERFECT FOR LISTENERS NAVIGATING:Comparison & self-doubt Feeling stuck or behind in life or career Confidence & self-worthMidlife shiftsFear of not being enoughCreative blocks & hesitation Identity & life direction 00:25 - The moment everything stopped00:35 - “What am I doing with my life?”01:00 - The music realization - what do I really want?02:10 - The comparison pattern02:30 - “Whose life am I comparing mine to anyway?”03:55 - Fear underneath comparison04:10 - Taking action04:20 - Why comparison fades04:40 - A better way to relate to others04:50 - Coming back to yourself #TheStrongerStuffShow #StrongerSundayStories #Comparison #SelfWorth #FeelingBehind #Confidence #MidlifeWomen #GenXWomen #PersonalGrowth #FindYourselfStay Connected:If you loved this episode please follow us and share it to keep the show going strong!
