A Holy Spirit Moment in a Coffee Shop (with Katharine Guerrero)
This episode launches the weekly Holy Spirit Saturdays series centered on sharing real stories of divine encounters and everyday obedience. Dan Wilt invites listeners to pay attention to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, step out in faith, and trust God even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. A key story comes from Katharine Guerrero, who felt led to pray for a woman at a coffee shop, showing how a simple act of obedience can become a meaningful moment of encouragement and spiritual impact. The episode also emphasizes the importance of seeing people through Jesus’s eyes, overcoming fear of man, and planting seeds of faith through prayer and encouragement. It closes with a call for listeners to share their own Holy Spirit stories so the community can grow in faith, courage, and expectancy as they continue living out God’s love in everyday moments. We will be glad to attach your name or a pseudonym or for it to be anonymous—it’s up to you. It can be a story of coming to faith, a story of transformation, a story of healing, deliverance, suffering and sufficient grace, family reconciliation, prodigal returns, answered prayer, and so on. We are especially wanting to hear stories of Jesus doing his “all the things” ministry through everyday people like you and me. A word count of 300-500 words works well. The Kind of Place Where Miracles Don't Happen
This episode opens with a warm, family-centered celebration of Susan Walt’s birthday, setting a casual and deeply personal tone. From there, the conversation turns into a morning devotional and “wake up call” anchored in prayer and Scripture, creating the feeling of a shared gathering rather than a polished broadcast. The hosts emphasize that their show is about real life, real faith, and meeting with Jesus together, which frames everything that follows. The main teaching focuses on Mark 6, where Jesus returns to his hometown and “could not do any miracles there” because of unbelief. The episode explores the relationship between faith, community, and miracles, arguing that miracles are sovereign acts of God but are often associated with communities marked by love and biblical faith. The hosts contrast genuine faith with shallow or transactional belief, encouraging listeners to examine brokenness, ask Jesus what needs healing, and lean into a posture of trust, love, and openness to God’s work. The episode closes with hymn singing and a pastoral reminder to encourage others, especially those who are hurting or nearing the end of life, by reaching out and walking with them in love. On Becoming the Kind of People Who Don't Give Up on People
This episode centers on Mark 5 and the story of the demon-possessed man in the tombs, using it as a picture of “impossible situations.” The message is that Jesus steps directly into the darkest, most isolated places and brings freedom where no one else can help. A major theme is learning to become the kind of person who does not give up on others, even when their situation feels beyond repair. The episode also shifts inward, challenging listeners to change their posture from being responsible for people to being responsive to them before Jesus. Rather than carrying the burden of fixing impossible problems, the invitation is to come “unto Jesus for them,” trusting the Holy Spirit to work through us. The hymn “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” reinforces the same message: storms will come, but Christ is the solid rock, and God is still present and working even when life feels unstable. Who Needs the Weather Channel When You've Got Jesus?
This episode centers on Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4 and the bigger lesson hidden inside that miracle: not just that Jesus can command the wind and waves, but that he remained completely at peace in the middle of chaos. JD reflects on a real storm he experienced with a group of college students in Texas to show the contrast between human panic and Christlike stillness. The takeaway is that peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of Jesus within it. The second half of the episode turns that insight into an invitation for listeners facing their own “furious squalls” — cancer, divorce, anxiety, or any other heavy circumstance. JD and his dad reinforce the message through the hymn “Be Still, My Soul,” reminding listeners that God’s peace can steady us and spill over to others around us. The episode closes with a pastoral challenge: bring your anxiety to Jesus, let the Holy Spirit hold you, and become a person whose calm helps calm the room around you. The Critical Difference between Being Responsible for Others and Responsive to Them
This episode centers on a reflection from Mark 3 and the healing of the man with the shriveled hand. The main message is that Jesus—and by extension those led by the Holy Spirit—doesn’t simply notice human need, but responds to it with life, compassion, and action. JD Walt contrasts being “responsible for” others with being “responsive to” them, arguing that trying to carry everyone’s burdens leads to overwhelm and compassion fatigue, while Spirit-led responsiveness allows us to do what’s actually ours to do in the moment. The episode also emphasizes the idea that ordinary acts of love can have extraordinary, even lasting impact. Through prayer, a hymn, and a father-son duet, the hosts underscore that believers are not meant to carry the weight of the world alone; Jesus does that, and invites us to partner with him for a few people, one moment at a time. The closing takeaway is an encouragement to walk with the Master in daily attentiveness, trusting that small faithful responses can become part of God’s larger awakening work in the world. Why There Is No Such Thing as Secular
This episode centers on Jesus calling Levi, the tax collector, and the immediate ripple effect of that invitation. The conversation highlights the simplicity and power of Jesus’ words, “Follow me,” and then turns into a joyful singalong of “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” The message is that following Jesus is a daily decision, not a one-time moment, and that even ordinary people can become part of a larger witness when they choose to walk with him. The second half moves into a teaching on Mark 2 and the idea that there is no truly “secular” space where God is absent. Jesus is shown as constantly entering everyday places—homes, workplaces, and social spaces—rather than waiting for people to come to religious settings. The episode argues that grace crosses boundaries, sits with sinners, and restores what sin has desecrated, all while calling followers to take the same risk of being misunderstood in order to embody love. When Revival Becomes Awakening: The Age of the Spirit
This episode centers on spiritual awakening through repentance, Scripture, and keeping Jesus at the center. JD Walt introduces the Mark Pizza Challenge as a 16-day invitation to read through Mark, then unpacks Mark 1 to show how John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus. He emphasizes that revival is not mainly about spectacle, but about honest prayer, humility, and a fresh openness to the Holy Spirit. A major theme is that repentance is not shame-filled guilt, but a gentle realignment with God — a small turn of the heart and mind that can lead to profound change. The episode encourages listeners to “turn their eyes upon Jesus,” seeing Him as the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Overall, it’s a call to renewed devotion, subtle spiritual course-correction, and a deeper focus on Christ. The Mark Pizza Challenge (Part 2)
This episode centers on J.D. Walt’s exploration of Jesus, Mark’s Gospel, and the Holy Spirit. He frames Mark as a gospel of Spirit-empowered ministry and invites listeners to move beyond religious routine into a more vibrant, awakened life with God. A key thread is that Jesus modeled what a Spirit-filled life looks like, and disciples are called not just to study Him, but to become like Him. The episode also emphasizes practical and spiritual renewal through prayer, worship, and a fresh openness to the Holy Spirit’s work. Drawing from stories like John Wimber’s “do the stuff” challenge, J.D. encourages believers to expect healing, deliverance, and everyday empowerment as part of following Jesus. Overall, it’s a call to deeper devotion, greater spiritual hunger, and a life shaped by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The Mark Pizza Challenge (Part 1)
This episode opens with JD Walt returning after a break, thanking Dan Wilt for leading the previous series and announcing that he’ll spend the summer exploring the Gospel of Mark as a way of helping listeners encounter Jesus through Scripture. He frames the day with prayer and a reading from Acts 10, emphasizing that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power and went about doing good and healing. That theme becomes the anchor for the rest of the episode: the Bible is not presented as a duty, but as an invitation into real transformation and daily relationship with Jesus. JD then tells the story of the “Mark Pizza Challenge,” a youth ministry reading challenge he created years ago to help students read one chapter of Mark each day for sixteen days, with pizza as the celebration at the end. What started as a fun incentive grew into a powerful spiritual practice that stirred hunger for the Word, led to prayer, healing, all-night prayer meetings, and a broader awakening in the church. The episode closes with JD and his father leading a hymn, “Spirit of the Living God,” reinforcing the central message that the Christian life is simple at its core: open yourself to the Holy Spirit and let God do the transforming work. All the Things: You Are Ready for This!
This episode is the final day of the “All the Things” series, and it centers on the idea that Jesus is still at work through his people by the power of the Holy Spirit. Dan Wilt reflects on Matthew 28 and Acts 1, emphasizing that believers are called to go, make disciples, and receive power to be witnesses. He frames everyday ministry not as something reserved for a few extraordinary moments, but as a Spirit-led way of life marked by love, humility, and prayer. The heart of the message is that the church can participate in the works of Jesus today by asking simple questions like, “May I pray for you?” The second half of the episode becomes a practical sending. Dan encourages listeners to choose one expression of Jesus’ ministry—such as praying for the sick, encouraging others, caring for the vulnerable, or listening for God’s voice—and practice it faithfully over the next month. He ties this to a larger vision of legacy, where the church passes on a living example of Spirit-filled, love-driven ministry to future generations. The episode closes with a prayer of consecration, a doxology, and a hopeful transition into a new series ahead. Your Church Is a Kingdom Outpost
This episode is a reflection on what it means for the church to function as a “kingdom outpost” in the world. Drawing from Acts 2 and Acts 5, the speaker argues that the early church was marked not only by teaching, but by signs, wonders, healing, prayer, and a deep willingness to minister to people with humility and faith. The central message is that followers of Jesus are meant to live as apprentices who surrender to the Spirit, walk in love, and become available to bring God’s presence into ordinary moments of need. The episode also emphasizes that the church is not just a building, but any community of believers where heaven and earth overlap through compassionate action. In the conversation with JD, that idea is reinforced with the reminder that “where there is great love, miracles always happen.” The episode ends with a practical invitation: pray for your church, pray for your neighborhood, and ask God how you can help make your community known as a place where people encounter the nearness and power of Jesus. Healing Knows No Distance
Most of us underestimate the power of praying from a distance—and even doubt that God can move beyond the physical space we occupy. But what if faith isn't limited by proximity? In this episode, Dan Wilt shares a healing story that shows how a simple “May I pray for you?” can spark faith, bring encouragement, and change how you think about prayer. Dan also connects this idea to Matthew 8 and the centurion’s trust in Jesus’ authority, showing how prayer can happen effectively over the phone, by text, or on video calls. The episode encourages listeners to pray boldly, risk vulnerability, and believe that God can work anywhere, anytime—no matter how far away someone is. What You Have, Freely Give
This episode centers on the theme of freely giving what God has already given you. Drawing from Acts 3, it reflects on Peter and John healing a man who had been lame from birth, emphasizing that Peter did not offer money but instead gave what he had: faith, discernment, and the authority of Jesus’ name. The episode argues that believers do not need to wait for a special feeling of anointing before acting; instead, they should notice what the Father is doing, obey in the moment, and trust the Holy Spirit to supply what is needed. The second half expands that idea through a testimony about Lorinda, a breast cancer survivor who received encouragement in her hardest season and later began offering that same encouragement to others. The message is that healing, comfort, and spiritual gifts are meant to flow outward through our lives into the lives of others. Sometimes It Takes Pressure to Light a Match
This episode is a devotional wake-up call centered on the idea of true freedom in Christ. Dan opens by reflecting on Independence Day and connecting national freedom with the deeper spiritual freedom found in 2 Corinthians 3:17: “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is true freedom.” From there, he frames the day’s theme around everyday ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit, encouraging listeners to see themselves as vessels through whom God’s love, fruits of the Spirit, and gifts can flow into homes, neighborhoods, churches, and communities. The main teaching comes from Acts 20:7–12 and the story of Eutychus, the young man who falls from a window and is raised back to life by Paul. Dan uses that passage, along with a personal story from the Asbury outpouring, to argue that pressure-filled moments can become opportunities for faith and obedience. His core message is that when difficult situations arise, believers should stop, pray, and trust God to move rather than fear embarrassment or failure. He closes with a prayer, journal prompt, worship, and a call to live as “awakening people” who carry Jesus’ love through everyday life. Healed People Become a Testimony
This episode centers on the idea that healing is not only physical, but often deeply emotional and spiritual as well. Dan reflects on Matthew 8 and the story of Jesus healing the man with leprosy, using it to show that shame, fear, and brokenness can be at the root of what people need most. He shares a personal story of being healed in his vocal cords and explains how our own healing experiences can become a testimony that builds faith in others. The episode also offers practical guidance for praying for others. Dan encourages listeners to slow down, listen for the Holy Spirit, and lean into their spiritual gifts, especially encouragement and intercession, before jumping straight to prayer. The activation challenge is to identify someone carrying shame and begin praying for them with compassion, while remembering that Jesus is the healer and we simply join Him in His work. When to Say "Your Faith Has Healed You"
This episode explores the question many Christians wrestle with: why some prayers for healing seem to work while others don’t. Dan Wilt unpacks the biblical truths, theological tensions, and practical ways to approach healing ministry with humility, faith, and hope, while reminding listeners that healing is both a gift and a mystery. You’ll hear why Jesus’ miracles aren’t always immediate, how faith and suffering fit into God’s greater plan, and what it means to pray boldly while still surrendering the outcome. Drawing from the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8 and a five-step prayer model from his vineyard journey, Dan offers encouragement and real-world guidance for anyone longing to pray more effectively or walk through suffering with confidence. Kingdom 101: Keep It Real
This episode centers on Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6 about prayer, using it as a larger call to live and minister with sincerity rather than performance. The message emphasizes “naturally supernatural” faith: allowing the Holy Spirit to work through ordinary people in everyday life without pretending, posturing, or trying to appear spiritual. Dan contrasts hidden faithfulness with public showmanship, urging listeners to stay humble, let God receive the glory, and trust that private obedience matters just as much as visible ministry. The second half turns this teaching into a practical challenge. Listeners are encouraged to do something meaningful for someone in secret, then bring that act back to Jesus in gratitude rather than seeking recognition. The episode closes with a reminder that spiritual maturity grows through hiddenness, humility, and everyday partnership with God, followed by worship and a charge to carry the deep love of Jesus into neighborhoods, workplaces, families, and homes.
