The Way of Light

Do you have a friend that you can be honest with about anything? Someone to pray with and encourage you when it's hard? Someone to celebrate, laugh and be yourself with? Someone to kick you in the butt when you are being dumb? I do. His name is Levi. How can you seek and find strong friendship in your life?

Stay tuned for a short but personally significant update on the WOL. The last in the P.E. series. Where Evangelism is first and foremost about sharing the gospel, the good news of Jesus to unbelievers, we all need to start somewhere. Here are some practical ways to lead regular everyday interactions back to Christ, even in smaller ways. As people you speak with seem open to go deeper, do not be afraid to let the Lord take you there! The Gospel is the death burial and resurrection of Christ for the payment of our sins and the salvation of all those who believe. Do not be ashamed of the gospel! Just know your conversations must start somewhere, and this episode will give you ideas on where to start. Search the scriptures. Allow God to have the primary voice in your life. Invite him to speak to you and use you in the overflow of his love for you.

A lamp unto our feet brings clarity to immediate steps. A light on our path brings clarity for the future. The word of God does both (Psalm 119:105). And if scripture does not address your situation, let everything that you do, be for the glory of God. This will be the last prayer episode for a while. Practical Evangelism - It's important to practice as a follower of Jesus. It's also important to understand how to not suck at it. There are two primary ways you could suck at evangelism: 1. When you never try. 2. When your knowledge supersedes your love. So how to we grow? Prayer | Care | Share Here are some basic prayers you may begin with: “Father, thank you for loving me. Help me to love others the same way.” “Lord Jesus, I am your servant. Use me to tell of all you have done.” “God, help me to see others the way you see them.” “Lord God, fill me with boldness to preach the gospel.” “Lead me by your Spirit and give me the words to speak.” “Heavenly Father, you know all things. I do not. Help me do your will.” “Today, LORD, lead me to those you have chosen, but have not yet chosen you.”

As we learn to talk with others about our faith, it is essential to let the love of Christ be on the forefront of our minds. 1 Corinthians 13 makes it very clear that we may possess all knowledge... but without love, we have nothing. *Audio recording is off on this one FYI.

When it comes to God's grace, you must learn to receive it before you can share it with integrity. After receiving God's grace, we are tasked with resounding it in the world around us. I was certain God messed up making me and feared the thought of people knowing the depths of my emotional brokenness. Vulnerability and transparency are essential to living life in the light. Our first guest to interview on the WOL is significant for many reasons. The top reason is the privilege I have to call her my sister. Breezy and I are close in age, yet distant in our beliefs. We grew up in the same home and left with very different perspectives on truth. When she told me a number of years ago that she was an atheist, my pride took over and I focused more on my pitch for Christianity than I did on loving her well. Have you ever found yourself driving somewhere on autopilot? After being on the road for a while, you don't remember what road you took to get to where you are. It is scary to think that sometimes we can mindlessly drive around in a 4,000 lb heap of metal without considering where we are going. Prayer can feel similar. At times, even robotic. What does King Solomon have to say about the intentionality we should have in our prayers? When it comes to our time with God, mindless moments are meaningless.

It's time to get personal. This is hard to talk about. Each day brings new awareness to the dark corners within our souls and it is no different for me. It feels like every time there is a ray of light bringing hope on the horizon, it is followed with a test of faith. In this talk, I'm getting real about my most recent blind spots.

Everyone has hidden sins. Especially those who assume they do not. In this prayer episode, we will invite God to shine light on those hidden places within us. There are dark corners in the heart of every human. Are you aware of yours? Jesus often criticized the Pharisees and "Religious" leaders of his day for holding a flawed perspective of Gods intent for them. They were convinced like many of us today that they could see quite clearly the things of God. All the while, deceiving themselves into thinking the darkness within them was actually light. They thought they could see, but they were actually blind. How can we begin to eliminate the dark corners in our own lives? "Good" & "Busy" have become the two primary responses among Americans in response to, "How are you doing?". These responses have become so normalized that we don't consider the repercussions of our busy lives. Slow down and take a moment in prayer today through Psalm 51. Invite God to shine light on the business of your life and create in you a clean heart. A clean heart is a fresh start and it all begins with Jesus. Slow down and listen.
