But centuries before the cross, Isaiah described a Servant who would be despised, rejected, and silent—and through whose wounds we would be healed. Christian joy is not based on circumstance. You can have it regardless of circumstance. Life is filled with challenges. You may lose a friend, a job, or a marriage. But if you do, will you lose your faith? Today, Ron challenges you to let the trials of life perfect you and draw you into a more intimate walk with God.  

God hates evil and promises to hold vengeance in His hands, yet He also uses times in our lives when we feel destroyed to turn us around to follow Him. We will all come to an end in this life whether by death or by Jesus returning, but the question we have to face is where we’ll be after this life. The only way to hold assurance to the hope that is offered through Christ is to surrender to Him, acknowledge our sin, and repent.

Jesus demonstrates that His authority is not just an abstract theological fact but a compassionate power that steps directly into the brokenness of everyday human suffering. When you experience the heavy trials of physical sickness and brokenness, do you see them as random hardships, or do you take them to the compassionate Savior who rules over all creation?

Jesus may already be your Redeemer. The question is, have you made Him your ruler? When we profess our faith in Christ, we become his brothers and sisters. Like James, we’re His siblings, but we’re also His servants, called to demonstrate our faith by doing good works to help others. In other words, Jesus is more than our friend, our brother, and our Savior. He is also our Lord.

In the book of Daniel, we see a young man taken captive by a pagan society. But Daniel not only keeps his faith, he takes a stand and makes a lasting impact for God. On this episode of The Verdict, Pastor John Munro discusses the example of Daniel and what it takes to live wisely in a hostile culture.

There’s a difference between knowing something and believing it. When you just know something, the fact may live in your mind, but it doesn’t affect the way you act or the way you interact with the world. It is too easy, and sadly too common, to make fun of what other people believe. The truth is that what we believe as Christians is just as crazy to them when they hear the Gospel story. Rather than make fun of someone else’s beliefs or idols, we need to be open to hearing about their beliefs so that at some point they will be open to hearing about ours.

We live in an increasingly violent, fallen world with senseless tragedies occurring every day. So the first question that comes to mind is “Why?” There are unanswerable questions this side of heaven, Pastor Jack Graham teaches, but we overcome evil with good because the greatest good is God Himself!
