The Word on My Walk to Work
by Chris Gable
Join Pastor Chris Gable for some simple truths from the Word of God on his daily walk to work.
-
105
Protection from the path of the destroyer
How do we protect ourselves from the designs of the devil in our lives? Simply "by the word of thy lips."Psalm 17:4 - Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
-
104
God's goodness "laid up" for you and me!
God goodness is "laid up" for those that fear Him!Psalm 31:19 - Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
-
103
The prayer request God will always answer
God will always answer the prayer request for wisdom and direction in doing His will just like He hearkened to Manoah when he intreated the Lord for wisdom and instruction in raising his son.Judges 13:8-9 - Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.9 And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
-
102
God feels your pain!
God feels the pain that we go through. He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities, just like He was grieved for the misery of Israel.Judges 10:16 - And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
-
101
At the end of the day, God will have His say!
Don't be discouraged at the sin and injustices that exist around you. At the end of the day, God will have His say. Vengeance belongs to Him and He WILL repay.Judges 9:56-57 - Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren: And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
-

When do we experience God's power?
We experience the power of God WHEN we willingly offer ourselves to Him. It was true for Deborah and the nation of Israel in the book of Judges and it is still true today!Judges 5:2 - Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
-
99
God's promises will not fail!
Joshua's testimony was that God fulfilled every single one of His promises..."all came to pass." As Christians, we can be assured the same thing; God's promises will not fail! "There failed not ought!"Joshua 21:45 - There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
-
98
Partially following the Lord? ...or wholly following the Lord?
If it's possible to wholly follow God, then it's also possible to partly follow God. Caleb wholly followed the Lord and was recognized and rewarded for it. God desires and deserves the whole... everything!Joshua 14:14 - Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.Joshua 14:8-9 - Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. 9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
-
97
Don't forget to ask God!
The Israelites were deceived by the Gibeonites because they "asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord". We will also fail in our Christian lives if we forget to walk with the Lord and see His guidance in every thing we do.Joshua 9:14 - And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.
-
96
Serve God with joyfulness and gladness!
God calls us to serve Him with joyfulness and gladness of heart and that's not unreasonable because He has blessed us with an "abundance of all things!" If we choose not to serve Him in that way, we bring upon ourselves a curse just like the nation of Israel.Deuteronomy 28:47 - Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
-
95
Rejoice in every good thing!
Too often we overlook and take for granted the good things that God has given us. Instead we should heed the command from Moses to the people of Israel, "Rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God giveth thee."Deuteronomy 26:11 - And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.
-
94
Turning your curse into a blessing
God turned the attempted curse of Balaam into a blessing, because of His love for His people. Today God promises to do the same for the NT believer! Because of God's love for us, He promises that all things will work together for good to them that love God.Deuteronomy 23:5 - Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.
-
93
Quit claiming credit for God's blessing!
Our blessings are because of Him not because of us! We need to be very careful that we don't claim credit for God's blessing in our lives. God told the Israelites to beware lest they say that it was their hand and their might that had brought God's blessing into their lives.Deuteronomy 8:17-18 - And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
-
92
Having a heart to follow God...for our good!
God's desire for His people today is the same as it was for the nation of Israel. He wants us to have a heart to follow Him not for His good but for ours, so that we and our children after us receive the benefit.Deuteronomy 5:29 - O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
-
91
"Wholly" follow the Lord today!
Caleb was recognized and rewarded by God because he wholly and fully followed the Lord...we as Christians should do the same!Deuteronomy 1:36 - Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
-
90
Sanctify God with your obedience!
God described Moses's disobedience as a failure to sanctify God in the eyes of the people. In choosing obedience, we have the opportunity to sanctify or hallow God in the eyes of those around us.Numbers 20:12 - And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.Numbers 27:14 - For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
-
89
Are you "zealous" for your God?
Phineas was rewarded for his zealous service for God...do we serve and obey God with the same zeal-the same energy and enthusiasm?Numbers 25:11-13 KJV - Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
-
88
Behold...look with understanding
Salvation requires "beholding" Christ on the cross just as God's people were required to behold the brass serpent in order to experience healing. Beholding is looking with contemplation and understanding.#cross #salvation Numbers 21:9 - And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
-
87
Resting and journeying at the commandment of the Lord
As Christians, we need to learn how to rest AND move forward...all at "the commandment of the Lord"Numbers 9:23 - At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
-
86
Both forgiveness AND remission!
In salvation, we can experience both forgiveness AND remission of our sin pictured by the scapegoat being sent into the wilderness on the day of atonement.Leviticus 16:21-22And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

85
Affordable cleansing for our sin
God has done everything to make our cleansing from sin affordable... just like He did for the lepers in the OT. Our cleansing is so affordable, it's free... God's free gift of salvation!Leviticus 14:30-31 - And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he can get; Even such as he is able to get, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, with the meat offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the LORD.
-
84
You are always on His heart!
Your high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, always has your name on His heart!Exodus 39:14 - And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
-
83
Generosity "sufficient and too much"
In my giving to God and others, has God ever had to tell me, "it's too much?"Exodus 36:5-7 - And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing.7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
-
82
Lingering in the presence of God
Joshua experienced a closeness in his walk with God...and he simply couldn't bring himself to leave!Exodus 33:11 - And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
-
81
God Leads "by little and little"
Exodus 23:29-30 - I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.
