The Magic of Monaco - with Anthony Osmond-Evans
Send us Fan MailA very special show indeed!!Anthony has travelled the world as a writer / photographer / publisher. He is best known for his stunning coffee table books, including China the Beautiful.Anthony's books document the history and aesthetic of locations around the world, using his own writing and photography.Anthony has had several explorations to remote areas, always with an eye to a good photograph. During his time in the Himalayas, Anthomy went to Everest base camp at 17,000 feet and subsequently explored both Tibet and Bhutan.Anthony also once visited Mother Teresa in Calcutta, by appointment. Anthony was deeply moved by her work and her genuine sincerity. And as Anthony states, 'It is not often that one is in the presence of a saint. She was petite and hardly came up to my hip. We sat in the sun on the balcony of her sparse, but immaculately clean, room. For some 45 minutes she held my hand between her own two tiny hands and talked to me about the benefits of charity so that she could continue her good works.Mother Teresa allowed Anthony to take a photograph of her.Whilst in Southern China, Anthony woke early one morning to find the villagers assembling in the playground near the hotel and in front of them lined up ten prisoners who were to be shot for murder, with placards around their necks denoting their crimes. The families of the prisoners were sent a bill to pay for the cost of the bullet. 10,000 such people were executed in China that year. Anthony's photo ‘Mort du Matin' came out all over the world in Paris Match. Not forgetting a wonderful little story in Monaco with Anthony's great friend Shirley Bassey when they sung 'My Way' together, yes the title of my first book My Way - The Autobiography.Just a few senational stories we will be talking about on the show, plus a lot more too.You lucky folk... You get it all on The World of Lord Russell PodCast Talk Show.Such an exciting show next week and as always, I'm looking forward to seeing you all on the inside.

The Regrets of a Football Maverick - with Terry Curran
Send us Fan MailTerry Curran is an English former professional footballer whose career lasted from 1975 to 1988. Terry was an attacking midfielder who could also play as a winger, and as an out-and-out striker.During his 13-year career, Terry Curran played for 16 football clubs, both English and European. So truly the original football journeyman, although he is known by Sheffield Wednesday FC supporters for his part in launching the clubs revival during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Brian Clough was wanting to sign him but was put off by the asking price of £140,000, so he controversially told Terry Curran's brother of his interest so Terry would not sign a new contract, thus reducing the transfer fee He signed for Nottingham Forest in August 1975 for £50,000. In two seasons, he played 48 games, scoring 12 goals for Forest, helping them gain promotion to Division One in the 1976–77 season. I remember that season well with Nottingham Forest going up to Division One with Wolves and Chelsea. The following season Nottingham Forest won the First Division Championship and then won back to back European Champions League trophies, then of course the European Cup. In October 2012, Terry Curran's autobiography, "Regrets of a Football Maverick", was published. Terry also wrote another interesting book, ‘Gimme The Ball: My Take On The Beautiful Game’, which was published in September 2021. This fabulous book portrays Terry Curran as the Owls idol, which his was and still is, and shoots from the hip as the book explores the good, bad, and ugly sides of the 'beautiful game'. The book introduces, and discusses, the 'greats' including, GEORGE BEST, ALAN BALL and BRIAN CLOUGH, who or course inspired Terry Curran's own exciting, and unpredictable career, whilst also revealing Terry Curran's explosive, but close relationship with JACK CHARLTON.A fabulous Podcast about a fooball genious.

A View From The Man In Black - With Alan Snoddy MBE
Send us Fan Mail'A View From The Man In Black' with my special guest Alan Snoddy MBE Alan Snoddy officiated in the Football World Cup for the first time with Argentina taking on Italy. A former Irish League referee recalled how he prepared to officiate Diego Maradona at the World Cup by taking charge of a match in Northern Ireland's Amateur League. Alan Snoddy was a referee's assistant for Argentina's 1-1 draw with Italy in the group stages of Mexico 1986. Alan Snoddy reflects on what was then the biggest game of his career. With lots more to follow too as the referee for Portugal v Morrocco in the 1986 World Cuip Finals and West Germany v Senegal in the 1990 World Cup Finals in Italia 90. "I found out just a few days beforehand that I'd be doing that game," he said. For a man who was one of the most high-profile Irish League referees during a 25-year career before retiring in 2003, his final fixture before travelling to Mexico will likely surprise many. "Believe it or not, it was Bangor Young Men against Kelvin Old Boys in the Amateur League," he explained. "I went from taking charge of that on the 8th May to being linesman for Argentina v Italy less than a month later. "What I was trying to do was keep as fit as I could. There was a four-week break between the Irish League season ending, so I was just doing all I could to prolong my season and keep my fitness up." The Lions King - with Bryan King
Send us Fan MailThis eagerly awaited Show on The World of Lord Russell is 'The Lions King' with Bryan King the former Chelmsford City FC, Millwall Football Club and Coventry City F.C. goalkeeper where I talk to Bryan on his playing career and time as a Premier League scout for Tottenham Hotspurs, Everton Football Club and Aston Villa FC.Bryan also has his autobiography aptly named 'The Lions King' which is a boisterous warts-and-all autobiography of Millwall’s legendary record-breaking goalkeeper. Bryan was called up for England by Sir Alf Ramsey to face Portugal in 1974, a career touched by a parade of greats such as Gordon Banks, Bobby Moore and Lev Yashin. But this wickedly funny tale is a brutally candid account of life at the sharp end of English football’s golden age in the 1960s and 70s.What an exciting life story and exclusively on The World of Lord Russell PodCast Show.As normal The World of Lord Russell is on all PodCast Media platforms and on my NorfolkLord website:https://norfolklord.co.uk/podcasts/I look forward to seeing you all on the inside.
