    Virginia Community Food Connections Executive Director Candice Armstrong talks about the organization’s work connecting families with healthy local food while supporting area farmers. At the Farmer’s Market, shoppers using EBT can visit the Market Tokens tent to swipe their card and receive matching tokens for free fresh food each week. The program provides up to $30 in additional tokens that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from participating vendors, helping families stretch their food budgets while improving access to healthy meals. Organizers say every cut supports scholarships, barbering education, and mentorship opportunities for students and adults working toward a second chance through the trade.     Sgts. Amanda Mele of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office and Steven Curtis of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office preview a regional senior outreach event scheduled for April 4 in Fredericksburg. The Triad Expo for Senior Adults  takes  place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at James Monroe High School. Admission is free and open to the public. Organizers say the event will focus on scam awareness and prevention, along with providing information about Project Lifesaver, a program designed to assist in locating individuals with cognitive conditions who may wander. Representatives from multiple regional agencies will  attend to share resources with older adults and caregivers. The expo is part of ongoing TRIAD efforts to connect law enforcement and community organizations with senior residents to improve safety and access to services.

Otitigbe has spent months meeting with community members as he developed and refined the design for the memorial. The concept centers on a raised section of the street marking the historic location of the auction block, creating a physical and symbolic space for reflection. The design also includes a vertical obelisk-like element rising from the site, intended to serve as a visible marker of remembrance and acknowledgement of the people who were bought and sold there.
