We also talk about the importance of the Holy Spirit acting through apologists from the time of Stephen and still found today with modern apologists as Bishop Barron, Trent Horn, Jimmy Akin and many others. An important point in this case, is Stephen did not seek out to debate, but rather was ready to do so in defense of the Truth. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 27' and final days of Jesus, the Son of Man, and the duality that can be explored with the Governor, Pilate, and both Jesus Barrabas, and Jesus the Messiah. There is also a thought-provoking discussion on the potential mercy towards Judas, the Betrayer and a key view on this matter by St. Leo the Great. There is also a huge plot twist in this episode considering the fate of Jesus and what could have happened if things had been different.There is also a big emphasis in this episode on Leadership and the role of the Governor and Captains, surrounded by mob mentality or hive minds. That it is a phenomenon in itself and that acts while under this influence must be avoided but if not possible, they must be forgiven. Forgiveness must be unlimited, even in the worst cases. We loved this part and are looking forward to continuing on to the next part. We would love to have you join us.

Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 26' and the different interpretations that can be found within the second-half of this chapter. We interpret the meaning of having a strong spirit, but weak flesh and how to overcome this. There is also a discussion on whether if you live by the sword, do you actually perish by it as well? Or can you be spared if used justly? Both St. Hilary and St. Rabba offer different opinions on this. The discussion then continues on the power of God and the importance of fate, when Jesus says that his death must come to pass for the greater good of the world. The closing point from Joe is one that is very profound, and makes you appreciate friendship and brotherhood on a deeper level, where it is said that Peter, after denying Christ three times, was forever changed and lived with sadness in his heart until the very day he was crucified upside down. Stick to the end to hear what is said.

Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 26' and the two types of betrayals you can face; both from loyal friends and disloyal ones. The value of one's true friendship cannot be counted in silver coins... for most. We also discuss the distinction of material and spiritual poverty in the name of God whereas you should always help the poor when given the opportunity and even more so share the word of the Lord. In the first parable, we talk about readiness and compare this to the faith but also everyday life. In the second parable, once ready, we talk about what to do with talents that are given to you. Should you hide them? Multiply them? Share them? What is the best way to optimize spiritual profit? Finally, in the third parable, we amalgamate all pre-discussed points with, once again; love. There are warnings given by Christ where he describes what to do and reassures His people that even though the times will be tougher than they ever have been, if remained steadfast, you will be saved. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 23' and the many woes that are given to the Pharisees and scribes for their hypocritical actions which are cloaked by fancy words. What is the difference between 'father' & 'Father'? Do you practice what you preach? Lead by example? These are all things you must ask yourself whether as a Christian or not. And when in a position of authority, you have tremendous amounts of influence over the people you mentor and thus with great power comes even greater responsibility.Love is shared. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 22' and truth about the resurrection and life after death. Ultimately, it is true we do not know what will happen, however it is speculated that when we die, we (hopefully) enter the kingdom of heaven and live a sort of communal life with the past saints and angels. We also have to understand that even though this sounds wonderful 'not all who are invited, are also chosen'. Which means that even though you may talk the talk, it does not mean you also walk the walk, and that even if you do, you might be spending more time then you think during the final trial which is the fire that is purgatory. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 20' and the parable of the workers in the vineyard. In this parable, there is a great lesson about envy in which we must all take a step back in order to appreciate a bigger picture. Envy creeps up on us all and what this parable teaches us is that we must instead have a generous heart and a community mindset. This further leads to an understanding of proper leadership where a discussion is made about one's place in the kingdom of heaven, and the actions we must take in order to attain entrance to such a kingdom. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 19' and divorce as seen through the eyes of both a catholic and a non-believer. The significance of marriage is also a topic of discussion as both the civil and spiritual meaning are brought up. Finally, a story is shared about a rich & young man who is quite healthy and successful sells all his belongings as he realizes that the material possessions of this world will not follow him when he enters the kingdom of heaven. Tom & Joe discuss 'Matthew 18' and way by which we are offered the kingdom of heaven by becoming more childlike, and less childish. There is a state that must be achieved in order to remain humble which is easier for children as they are always in a state of learning. We also emphasize what Jesus has replied to Peter when is asked how many times you should forgive someone when they have sinned against you.
