Send us Fan MailWe wrestle with a simple question that turns out to be spiritual: should followers of Jesus eat halal meat when a prayer is invoked over it during slaughter. We read key Bible texts about food offered to idols, talk honestly about conviction, and share practical ways to respond without fear or judgement. Ep 41 - Is eating fish on Good Friday Biblical?

Send us Fan MailFish on Good Friday shows up like clockwork, but most of us were never told why. This conversation uncovers the real origin: it’s not rooted in Scripture or early faith, but in Roman Catholic tradition, which spread globally through colonisation, including into ethnic households. What started as a church-imposed practice of abstaining from meat on Fridays, with fish as a substitute, became normalised across many cultures. But here’s the key question: is it biblical? Scripture never commands believers to eat fish or avoid meat on Good Friday, and fish is still flesh despite how it’s often categorised. We also address whether this practice is pagant, but it can become an empty religious habit when followed without understanding. If you’re seeking truth rooted in Scripture rather than tradition, this conversation is for you.   Support the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Send us Fan MailWe respond to a listener question about disability and the church, and we get honest about the gap between “access” and true belonging. We share personal stories from visual impairment and hearing loss to challenge churches to plan weekly for inclusion, not once a year. • wheelchair access as a good start but not the finish • visual impairment challenges with glare and unreadable screen text • needing support on the pulpit without shame or awkwardness • disability being overlooked in platform roles and church participation • sign language for services and livestream church accessibility • baptisms and the need for hoists or alternative accessible pools • practical ideas like better seating options and clearer communication • biblical examples of radical inclusion and honour • respecting invisible disabilities and normalising “What support do you need?” • pushing for action with prayer rather than getting shut down Support the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Unfiltered Christian Podcast, Cece addresses the complex issue of salvation in the context of marriage, particularly when one spouse is a believer, and the other is not. She clarifies common misconceptions about the transferability of salvation and emphasises the unique role of the believing spouse in creating a spiritually nurturing environment. Through biblical references, Cece reassures listeners that while their faith cannot save their spouse, it can profoundly influence their spiritual journey. The episode concludes with a prayer for strength and peace in these marriages, encouraging listeners to hold onto hope and trust in Yah's timing.Support the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Ep 34 - Staying Grounded When Headlines Scream War And Fear

Send us Fan MailThe news cycle is loud, but fear doesn’t get the final word. We dive into Jesus’ warnings about “wars and rumours of wars” and ask a sharper question: how do we stay watchful without being consumed by worry? From UK emergency alerts to rising global tension, we trace how scripture interprets our moment and why “do not be troubled” is an invitation into practised peace, not passive denial.Together we unpack the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25 and what “extra oil” looks like today: simple, daily habits that build spiritual margin when life feels brittle. We also explore 2 Timothy 3 and the rise of self, money, and deception, discussing frankly false prophets, media overload, and the danger of outsourcing one's faith to personalities. Discernment grows where devotion is nourished, so we share practical ways to guard attention, test teaching, and keep your ear tuned to the Shepherd’s voice. This is an honest conversation about struggle and hope. One of us opens up about dyslexia, guilt, and the battle for consistency, offering realistic steps: audio Bible, one chapter a day, short prayers that cut through noise, repentance as relief rather than self-condemnation. We close with anchors from Psalm 46 and Isaiah 41:10, reminding ourselves that God is our refuge and strength, and that His peace is stronger than any headline. Ep 33 - Understanding Temptation

Send us Fan MailTemptation doesn’t usually kick the door down; it whispers. We start with the everyday mind battles—chocolate on the table, a scroll that turns into an hour, the urge to clap back—and trace how a moment of pressure becomes a pattern. From there, we zoom out to the bigger map: the difference between the devil’s nudge and our decision, why responsibility is not shame but power, and how Jesus’ time in the wilderness gives us a practical template to fight back with truth. We talk openly about real tools. Prayer that interrupts spirals and invites strength. Fasting that trains attention and loosens the hold of impulse. Boundaries that keep you out of the aisle and away from the timeline when you’re weakest. Self-control that grows slowly with accountability and wise community. We also explore a neglected angle: being tempted away from doing good. When you feel led to give, forgive, or show up, doubt and chatter can pull you off course. Faith reframes that tension—walk by trust, not by sight, and let God provide where you think you can’t.This conversation carries a pastoral edge: new believers often face the heaviest pull from old habits. We offer simple language, lived examples, and scriptures like Luke 22:46 and Proverbs that keep the heart awake. We challenge each other to be careful counsellors and consistent witnesses, because people are watching our choices to decide whether hope is real. The narrow path isn’t smooth, but progress looks like quicker pauses, better friends, and a growing memory of how far grace has brought you.Listen for clarity, courage, and a plan you can start today. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with someone who needs it, and leave a review—then tell us: what boundary or habit helps you resist temptation?Support the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Ep 32 - Tesco, A Tattoo, And A Test Of Mercy

Send us Fan MailA quiet ask at the supermarket entrance turned into a hard look at my own heart. A woman stopped me and asked for knickers—not cash, not sympathy, just a basic need met with dignity. I did the mental maths, offered the cheapest option, and then walked away when she chose the pair that would actually serve her. Minutes later I still had money in my hand, conviction in my chest, and a car park full of reasons to ignore the nudge to go back.I unpack what happened next: the swirl of fear and judgement, the memory of being stranded years ago and how one stranger bought me a single fare home, and the sting of scriptures that refuse to let faith live only in words. Hebrews 13:2 and James 2:17 meet in a very normal aisle and ask a very direct question—if the Spirit prompts, will I obey even when the act is small and my pride is loud? We talk about practical mercy: how to balance caution with compassion, why dignity often costs a little more, and how boundaries can coexist with generosity without turning love into suspicion. This story is not polished. It is unfiltered, ordinary, and true. I share it because small obedience shapes big character, and the kingdom often moves through simple acts that restore comfort and worth. If you’ve ever hesitated at the edge of a kind act, this conversation will help you name the fear, silence the excuses, and choose the next faithful yes. Listen, reflect, and then tell me: when did a tiny decision test your faith and change your day? Ep 31 - Our Generation Must Pick Up The Baton To Serve Teens

Send us Fan MailWhat if the most powerful youth ministry in London doesn’t start on a stage, but on a sofa? We dive into a hard truth: while many Christian communities are giving young people room to lead, London’s Adventist churches often lose teens right when they need belonging most. Rather than staying stuck in complaint mode, we unpack why this gap exists—migration out of the city, ageing leadership still carrying the load, and a church culture that can feel heavy—and how to rebuild with small, human steps. We share the blueprint we’ve seen work: gather two or three, open a living room, and begin with worship, a question, and honest conversation. No theological degree required. Let teens choose topics, pass the mic, and watch trust grow. If the building feels intimidating, change the venue. If one church says no, collaborate across churches. From gospel roller skating to inter-church youth nights to discovery via Eventbrite, there are already seeds to connect with. Our task is to pick up the baton Generation X held for us and carry it forward with consistency, warmth, and cultural fluency.Across the hour, we get practical about starting monthly, sharing responsibility, and preparing for pushback without losing heart. We talk about making space for those who’ve drifted, keeping the tone welcoming to people with questions, tattoos, or doubts, and choosing presence over production. We close with a prayer for courage and a challenge to act now, not later. If you care about youth ministry, London faith communities, Adventist youth, and building safe spaces that actually hold young people, this conversation is your nudge to begin. If this resonates, tap follow, share it with a friend who leads youth, and leave a review with your best small-start idea. Ep 30 - A funeral brought us face to face, but healing asked us to look inward first

Send us Fan MailGrief has a way of exposing what we’ve carefully hidden—especially when a funeral puts estranged family at the same table. I share how a long goodbye stretched my emotions thin, how a simple act of kindness from my sister disarmed my defences, and why the hug I thought I wanted felt impossibly heavy. This isn’t a tidy redemption arc; it’s the slow, honest work of naming pain, owning pride, and learning to forgive with more than words. We get practical about spiritual warfare in the mind, taking every thought captive, and asking Yahuwah to rewrite the stories that turn loved ones into enemies. You’ll hear the small, human steps that actually move reconciliation forward: fasting to make room for clarity, praying for the removal of lodged hurt, offering a soft greeting when silence would feel safer, and setting boundaries that protect without punishing. We talk about the danger of third‑party stories—how “Chinese whispers” warp motives and multiply offence—and a simple rule that can save relationships: if it wasn’t said to you, treat it as unsaid and take it to prayer. Along the way, we look at Yeshua’s pattern of mercy with Judas and Peter, the humility of examining the log in our own eye, and the comfort of Psalms reminding us that Yah is close to the brokenhearted. If you’re stuck between wanting peace and not feeling ready, you’re not failing—you’re human. Let this conversation give you language, tools, and courage to try again without pretending the hurt never happened. Ep 29 - Which Comes First: Denomination or Discipleship?

Send us Fan MailSend us a textThe journey to finding your spiritual home as a new Christian can feel overwhelming. With countless denominations, traditions, and communities to choose from, where do you even begin? In this heartfelt conversation, we tackle the question: should new believers research different denominations before choosing which to join?We share our personal experiences navigating church communities and denominations, revealing how focusing first on developing a genuine relationship with God provides the foundation for all other spiritual decisions. Drawing from our diverse backgrounds—with families spanning Catholic, Moravian, Church of England, and Seventh-day Adventist traditions—we discuss how inherited faith doesn't always align with personal convictions as your understanding of scripture deepens. The spiritual discernment that comes from prayer and Bible study often leads believers to unexpected places. Both of us share stories of feeling uncomfortable in certain church environments despite trying to make them work, and how the Holy Spirit guided us to communities where Biblical truth resonated. We emphasize that church attendance alone doesn't constitute a meaningful faith journey—intentional prayer and scripture reading must form the cornerstone of spiritual growth. For those struggling with church hurt or feeling unable to find a denomination that aligns with their understanding of scripture, we offer practical encouragement. Whether you're meeting in home groups, engaging with online communities, or serving through alternative ministries, remember that God looks at your heart rather than your church membership card. Your salvation and relationship with God remain deeply personal, regardless of which building you attend on weekends.Have you struggled to find your place within Christianity? We'd love to hear your experience navigating denominations and discovering where you belong in your faith journey. Ep 28 - You Don't Need to Be Perfect to Start Your Spiritual Journey

Send us Fan MailSend us a textHave you ever felt like you need to fix everything in your life before approaching God? Like some invisible spiritual bouncer is checking your qualifications at heaven's door? This deeply personal episode tackles the pervasive myth that keeps countless seekers at a distance: the belief that you need to be "perfect" before starting your spiritual journey. Shea and CC share vulnerable insights about their own ongoing struggles, creating a judgment-free space for honest conversation about faith's realities."There is never a perfect time to give your life to God," CC emphasizes, challenging the notion that spiritual transformation requires meeting some prerequisite standard of behavior. The hosts explore how focusing on outward appearances misses the heart of faith entirely—God looks at our hearts, not our habits, dress code, or vocabulary.Through candid discussion, they address why many people hesitate to enter spiritual communities, fearing judgment for visible struggles like smoking, drinking, or relationship choices. They contrast these with the "behind closed doors" sins that remain hidden yet equally present in religious communities. What makes this conversation particularly powerful is its exploration of spiritual growth as a gradual, ongoing process rather than an instant transformation. You'll hear how conquering one struggle often reveals another, creating a lifelong journey of refinement that keeps us dependent on divine guidance rather than self-sufficiency.For anyone who's ever felt disqualified from faith because of their imperfections, this episode offers liberating truth: the spiritual journey doesn't begin with your perfection—it begins with your willingness to come exactly as you are.Support the showThank you for ListeningTo ask us a question email us @ [email protected] the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Ep 27 - Is Speaking in Tongues Biblical or Misunderstood?

Send us Fan MailSend us a textThe controversial practice of speaking in tongues creates division among believers, with some embracing it as divine connection and others questioning its biblical basis. Shay and Cece fearlessly tackle this topic, sharing their personal journeys of discomfort and discovery.Shay recounts her first encounter with tongue-speaking at a youth Bible study. "I assumed she was speaking in her language," she explains, describing her confusion when learning it was considered a spiritual gift. This sparked her quest for understanding, leading her to Scripture and revealing a significant disconnect between modern practice and biblical teaching. Both hosts examine key passages, particularly 1 Corinthians 14:27-28: "If any man speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by course; let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent." This requirement for interpretation challenges the common practice of unintelligible utterances that no one can translate. As they note, "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace."The conversation expands beyond tongues to challenge how we approach faith traditions generally. When church practices conflict with Scripture, the hosts advocate for personal study and seeking divine guidance rather than conforming to tradition. "Not because everyone else is doing it means they are correct," Shay emphasizes, encouraging listeners to examine their beliefs with an open heart.Whether you currently speak in tongues or have questioned the practice, this episode provides scriptural foundation and thoughtful perspective. Take this opportunity to pray about your own spiritual practices, asking God to reveal truth as you continue your faith journey. Remember, we're all walking the narrow path together, learning and growing as we seek to honor Him.Support the showThank you for ListeningTo ask us a question email us @ [email protected] the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Ep 26 - Why Does God Allow Evil?

Send us Fan MailSend us a textWe tackle the challenging question of why a good God allows evil and suffering in the world, exploring the tension between divine goodness and human freedom.• Free will is essential for genuine love to exist—God gives us the freedom to choose good or evil• Sin is sin in God's eyes—we shouldn't measure some sins as worse than others while minimizing our own• Hurt people hurt people—many who cause harm are themselves crying out for love they've never received• Instead of just praying for protection FROM harmful people, we should pray FOR their transformation• Our struggles with patience and forgiveness reflect our ongoing journey toward Christ-like love• God's apparent "inaction" is actually divine patience—giving everyone time for redemption• We're called to be lights in darkness, even when we struggle with our own imperfectionsRemember, Elohim isn't surprised by the evil in this world—He's patient, giving everyone time to turn to Him. Ep 25 - Both Sides of Grief

Send us Fan MailSend us a textGrief strikes without warning, respecting no schedules or expectations. One moment you're functioning, the next you're struggling to breathe – yet somehow the world expects you to keep moving forward as if nothing has changed. This deeply personal episode explores both sides of the grief journey – what it means to be grieving and what it means to support someone through their grief. Drawing from my own recent loss and ongoing journey after my sister's passing in March, I share the challenging reality of grief's timeline not aligning with society's expectations. When breathing feels like work and the simplest tasks become mountains to climb, the disconnect between your internal reality and external expectations creates an impossible burden.Scripture offers us wisdom through passages like Ecclesiastes 3:4 which reminds us that Yahuwah allows time for mourning. This divine permission stands in stark contrast to a world that often seems impatient with grief, expecting quick "recovery" and consistent behavior. But grief changes us. It shifts our personalities, disrupts our focus, and transforms our responses – all perfectly natural reactions to profound loss. For those supporting grievers, presence trumps perfection. Sometimes a simple "I'm thinking of you" message or sitting in comfortable silence communicates more love than attempted solutions or platitudes. Your grace during a griever's inconsistent days – when they might seem fine one moment and shut down the next – creates sacred space for healing. As Romans 12:15 guides us, "Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep," even when you don't fully understand their pain.Remember that grief isn't something to "get over" – it's something to get through. The tears that come years later when hearing a song or remembering a birthday aren't signs of regression; they're testaments to love that continues beyond death. In our shared vulnerability, we can hold onto the promise of Revelation 21:4, that one day every tear will be wiped away. Until then, we carry each other with gentleness, extending grace in both directions. If you're grieving today, know that you're seen, you're held, and you're not alone. Your inconsistency is welcome here.Support the showThank you for ListeningTo ask us a question email us @ [email protected] the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast

Ep 24 - Celebrating One Year: How to Give Authentic Praise When Yahuwah Answers

Send us Fan MailSend us a textA year of podcasting calls for celebration, reflection, and above all, praise! As we mark this milestone, we dive deep into a question that's transformed our spiritual walks: How do you genuinely thank Yahuwah when He answers prayers—especially the unexpected ones? From spontaneous tears of joy to dancing like no one's watching, our personal stories reveal the beautiful diversity in how believers express gratitude. Faye shares how music becomes her sacred language of praise, while Cece finds God's touch in even the smallest victories—like catching that elusive morning bus with her son. But what happens when praise requires walking away from conflict rather than engaging? We explore the counterintuitive power of restraint as spiritual maturity, not weakness. The conversation takes a vulnerable turn as we confess a common Christian struggle: the tendency to move quickly from answered prayer to the next request without properly honoring what's been received. "I can pray and fast for something with all my might, but when it arrives, I barely pause before asking 'what's next,'" reveals Cece. This honest self-reflection challenges us all to develop more intentional gratitude practices.Perhaps most touching is what we're learning from children—their pure, uncomplicated thankfulness putting our adult hesitations to shame. When Shay's young son spontaneously exclaims "Amen, thank you Lord!" for catching the bus while she's busy worrying about schedules, it's a powerful reminder of Christ's words about childlike faith.Whether you're in a season of waiting, celebrating breakthrough, or somewhere in between, this anniversary episode invites you into a deeper relationship with gratitude. Ep 23 - Greif, Yahshua Wept Too

Send us Fan MailSend us a textGrief arrives without warning, tearing through our carefully constructed lives and leaving us standing at the edge of an abyss. After losing my sister to a stroke on March 1st, 2025, I found myself in that exact position—a qualified counsellor who suddenly couldn't apply any of her knowledge to her own overwhelming pain.In this deeply personal episode, I share why I've been absent from the podcast and the raw, unfiltered journey through grief that has both challenged and transformed my faith. Despite rallying prayer warriors and fasting on my sister's behalf during her four days in intensive care, I watched my closest star fade away on Shabbat. This experience placed me in a strange spiritual territory where my faith remained unshaken even as my heart shattered.Perhaps the most unexpected gift emerging from this loss has been reconciliation. My sister's passing somehow created space for me to reconnect with my estranged father and develop capacity for forgiveness I never thought possible. Through tears and scripture—Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, John 11:35, Psalms 34:18—I've discovered that vulnerability isn't weakness but evidence of our capacity to love deeply. As believers, we often feel pressured to "hold it all together," but even Yahshua wept.If you're walking through your own valley of grief, know that you're not alone. The podcast may be quieter during this healing season, but I'm still here, clinging to Yahuwah while honoring grief as the holy ground it truly is. Whether you're mourning a loss or supporting someone who is, this episode offers a sacred glimpse into how faith can hold us even when prayers seem unanswered and the path forward feels impossible to see.Support the showThank you for ListeningTo ask us a question email us @ [email protected] the show🎙️ Enjoying the podcast?Support the mission and help us keep these real, unfiltered conversations going:👉https://ko-fi.com/unfilteredchristianpodcast Got a question or topic you want us to dive into? 📩 [email protected]’s grow together in truth 🤍 Cece & Shay The Unfiltered Christian Podcast
