All though the book of Mark, there are little moments where women pop into the story. Then, for the rest of the book, there are seemingly no women there. While church was instituted to be a loving community in which we can all pursue Jesus together, many people have had negative experiences with the church. Some of which have even led to psychological harm! One of my best friends, Heidi Ellis has recently completed a doctoral dissertation on this very issue! I got the pleasure of sitting down with Michael Sellers, who is an established professor of biology at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. He has a masters degree in Biological Sciences and has a ton of experience in the field. While not necessarily being a professed Christian, he does have a history with the church and is sympathetic towards the Bible and the Way of Jesus. We had a fascinating conversation about evolution and what it might mean for the Christian faith. We discuss both points of tension and points of compatibility between evolution and a traditional evangelical perspective about the origin of the world and the nature of God's creation.
