WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO SELL FISH PLATES TO PAY FOR A FUNERAL (Official Crossover Episode w/ Whatever Face Podcast)

Hey UN•THERAPIST & Whatever Face Podcast Family! We need to UN•THERAPIZE something that has been part of the culture for generations…FISH PLATES.But not just any fish plates - the fish plates we start selling when somebody dies. The fish plates, raffles, BBQs, donations, GoFundMe pages, and community fundraisers that suddenly appear because a family is trying to figure out how to pay for a funeral. And that got us thinking…Why are we so good at coming together AFTER the crisis… but not always planning BEFORE it?For this special crossover episode, we're linking up with the good folks from Whatever Face Podcast to have a conversation about the things we don't always want to talk about until we're forced to.We're talking about financial planning, discernment, grief, guilty-pleasure music, and the decisions that can either prepare us for life or leave somebody else cleaning up the pieces.📌 Why is long-term financial planning so easy to postpone?📌 Why do we wait until there's a crisis to start asking for money?📌 Is community fundraising a beautiful example of Black communities taking care of our own or a sign that we aren't financially prepared for emergencies?📌 What does discernment have to do with the choices we make today?📌 And why are we willing to plan the party, the vacation, and the outfit… but not always the things we KNOW eventually have to happen? Then, because this is UN•THERAPY and Whatever Face, we couldn't possibly have a conversation this serious without getting into some guilty pleasures, entertainment, and the shows that have us locked in.From Untold Stories to The Blacklist, Lioness, A Toxic Love Story, and American Greed, we're sharing recommendations while asking ourselves what these stories can teach us about people, choices, relationships, power, and consequences. And somewhere between the laughs, the uncomfortable questions, and the recommendations…we might have to ask ourselves:Are we actually prepared for the life we're living?Because maybe the goal isn't to stop selling fish plates. Maybe the goal is to make sure nobody HAS to sell one just to survive a crisis.Join us for our ever crossover episode of UN•THERAPY Podcast x Whatever Face Podcast for a conversation about financial planning, discernment, culture, grief, guilty pleasures, and the realities we don't always want to face until it's too late.🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Whatever Face PodcastApple Podcast: Whatever FaceSpotify: Whatever Face

    IS MANDATORY GRATUITY LEGAL EXTORTION?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need to UN•THERAPIZE something that has become almost impossible to avoid: TIPPING.You sit down at a restaurant. You order your food. You eat. You pay your bill. Then comes the screen: 18%? 20%? 25%?And suddenly, what used to feel like an optional thank-you feels like a pop quiz you didn't study for. So here's the question…When did tipping go from something you WANTED to give…to something you feel like you HAVE to give?We understand that restaurant workers deserve to be compensated fairly. We understand that servers work hard. We understand that tips can make a major difference in someone's income. But here's where the conversation gets interesting…📌 If gratuity is automatically added to your bill, is it still a tip?📌 If the restaurant requires it, should we call it a service charge instead?📌 Why are customers being asked to make up the difference when wages don't reflect the cost of the service?📌 If a service is exceptional, shouldn't the customer get to decide how much they want to give?📌 And when the tipping screen starts at 20%, are we being encouraged to be generous—or pressured to be?Then there's the other side…What happens when someone receives poor service but still feels obligated to tip?Is tipping about rewarding excellent service? Is it simply part of the cost of dining out?Or has tipping culture become so normalized that we've stopped questioning it?And let's talk about the elephant in the dining room…Are we actually tipping because we WANT to, or because we don't want to look cheap?Because there's a difference between intentional generosity and social pressure. So where do you stand?Tip because you want to?Tip because you have to?Or don't tip at all?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE tipping culture, mandatory gratuity, restaurant wages, customer expectations, service charges, and the question of whether tipping has officially gone too far.🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

IS LOYALTY AN EXPECTATION OR AN AGREEMENT?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Is loyalty still a favorable trait? And if it is... is it something that should be discussed before it's expected? The more we talked, the more we realized that everyone seems to have a different definition of loyalty. Some see it as standing by someone no matter what. Others believe loyalty has limits. And some have been so loyal to people, jobs, or situations that weren't loyal in return. So now we're asking...Can loyalty become expensive? If staying loyal causes you to miss opportunities, delay your purpose, or sacrifice your own growth... is that still loyalty, or is it poor stewardship? Then we took it a step further...Does loyalty to a person automatically mean loyalty from your brand or your business? If I'm loyal to you personally, does my company have to publicly support you too? Or is it healthy to separate personal relationships from professional decisions? Can your friendship and your brand have different boundaries?Maybe the biggest question is this...Are people disloyal... or are we expecting them to live by a definition of loyalty we never took the time to discuss?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the true meaning of loyalty, the cost of misplaced loyalty, personal relationships versus brand loyalty, and whether loyalty should be assumed... or agreed upon. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

WOULD YOU GIVE UP YOUR SEAT ON A PLANE? (Feat. Uncle Smiley the DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Picture this: a family wants to sit together and asks if you'd be willing to switch seats. What determines your answer:Is it an automatic yes because it's the kind thing to do? Or does it depend on the seat they're offering in return? Does it have to be the same value? The same legroom? The same location? Or is kindness supposed to outweigh convenience? Then we took the conversation one step further...What about those exit-row seats? You agree to sit there, but once the flight takes off, you realize the responsibility is greater than you expected.Do you quietly hope nothing happens... or do you let the flight attendant know you're no longer comfortable with the responsibility?Because sometimes we say "yes" before we fully understand what we're agreeing to.So now we're asking...📌 What does kindness require?📌 What does responsibility require?📌 And when is it okay to admit you're not the right person for the seat you're sitting in?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE kindness vs convenience, exchanging seats, accepting responsibility, and knowing when to speak up before an emergency ever happens.🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

PRIDE V.S. PRIVACY: The tale of Pinky Cole & Slutty Vegan (Feat. Uncle Smiley the DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…This conversation started after watching an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, where Pinky Cole shared that she had filed for bankruptcy... but hadn't told her husband. That sparked a bigger question...Where does privacy end... and pride begin? If you're willing to share something with the world, should your spouse have heard it first?Marriage is a partnership... so why do some people operate like sole proprietors? Are there decisions that belong to just you? Or once you say "I do," do certain conversations automatically become "we" conversations? Then we went even deeper...Where does transparency end and secrecy begin? How far back does transparency go? Is your partner entitled to know everything about your past, or are there some chapters that don't need to be reopened? When someone says, "That's private," are they protecting their peace... or protecting themselves from accountability?Maybe the bigger question isn't whether you have a right to privacy.Maybe it's this: Can a partnership truly thrive if one person is carrying information the other never gets the chance to hold?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE privacy versus pride, transparency versus secrecy, and what true partnership really looks like. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Is there a difference between someone who says they can't make your event… and someone who says they're coming but never shows up?Technically, neither person came. But mentally… do y'all put them in the same category? Because there are certain people you really want in the room. So if you RSVP “yes” and don't show… what's next?Does no-show equal no more invites?!📌 Do we need an explanation? Do you get another chance? 📌 Or do we quietly adjust the next guest list and keep it moving? Then we got to talking about memories…📌 How do y'all keep yours?📌 Are all your memories living somewhere in your phone or the cloud? 📌 Do people still print pictures and hang them up? 📌 Are Polaroids still a thing?!Because we're probably taking more pictures than ever… but are we actually keeping memories the same way?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE RSVP etiquette, whether no-show means no more invites, and whether our memories belong on the wall… or in the cloud. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

No intro, just vibes! 💪🏽Hey UN•THERAPIST,When a company is struggling, is the answer always to start over?Or is the real challenge learning how to maximize what you already have?Think about Red Lobster. For years, people counted the brand out. Declining sales. Financial struggles. A changing marketplace. It seemed like everyone had an opinion about what the restaurant should become. Then came new leadership.Instead of trying to erase the company's identity, CEO Damola Adamolekun focused on rebuilding confidence in the brand. He leaned into Red Lobster's strengths, listened to customers, refreshed the menu, improved the guest experience, and reminded people why they fell in love with the restaurant in the first place.🚨‼️ For the FULL episode, tune into: THE BILLION DOLLAR STRATEGY BEHIND PRODUCT MARKETING (Feat. THE BILLION DOLLAR STRATEGY BEHIND PRODUCT MARKETING (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

No intro, just vibes! 💪🏽Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something...Why do some products make us feel something, while others are just products?Think about it.Why are people willing to stand in line for hours every time Apple announces a new iPhone? Is it really about the phone... or is it about what owning it represents? Then we shifted to airports. Why do airports make us walk past luxury stores, designer brands, and restaurants before we ever reach our gate? Is it convenience... or is every step intentionally designed to influence what we buy, what we notice, and how we spend? Then the conversation took another turn...Sometimes the biggest transformation doesn't come from creating something new—it comes from seeing new value in what you already have.Take Red Lobster. When the restaurant found itself in trouble, the new CEO didn't simply throw everything away and start over. Instead, he looked at the company's existing strengths, listened to customers, refined the menu, improved operations, and leveraged existing resources to breathe new life into the brand. So here's the question...📌 Is great marketing about having the best product... or telling the best story?📌 Are we buying features or buying a feeling?📌 How much of our purchasing decisions are actually ours, and how much have marketers already influenced?📌 And before chasing the next big idea, have we fully maximized what we already have?Because sometimes success isn't about reinventing yourself.Sometimes it's about repositioning yourself.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the psychology of product marketing, Apple's brand loyalty, and how Red Lobster's turnaround reminds us that your greatest opportunity might already be sitting right in front of you.🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

CAN WE JUDGE YESTERDAY BY TODAY’S RULES? (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something. Can we judge yesterday by today's rules? We started with a conversation about food.If someone remixes a recipe, changes the ingredients, or adapts it for another culture… who owns it? Does the origin still matter? Or does the person who evolved it get to claim it?Then we shifted into memoirs. How much of what we believe about people is based on who they really are… versus the version of themselves we were allowed to see? And if a memoir reveals something new decades later, should it change how we view them? Then the conversation took another turn…As children, we saw the world through one lens. As adults, we see it through another. So here's the question...Did the rules actually change… or did we?📌  Are we judging the past by today's standards? 📌  Or are we finally seeing yesterday with mature eyes?📌  Are we going by the law… or by a moral code? 📌 And if it's a moral code… whose moral code? Yesterday's? Today's? Society's? Our own?Because context may explain a decision… but should it excuse it? And if society changes, should our judgment change with it?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE origins vs ownership, memoirs and changing perceptions, and whether yesterday should be judged by today's rules… or yesterday's. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

WE’RE INTENTIONAL… BUT ARE WE ALIGNED? (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something, and we've got a question...📌 Are red flags really red flags… or are we the actual “red flags”?It feels like dating has become a game of disqualification. We're so focused on finding what we don't want that we sometimes forget to recognize what we do want. Then we started asking an even bigger question...📌 Have we redefined dating? Some people have redefined commitment. Others have redefined infidelity. Some have even redefined what it means to be intentional in a relationship.📌 But if everyone keeps changing the definitions... what standards are we actually dating by?Then we landed on what might be the biggest question of the night...📌 What's the difference between intentionality and alignment?📌 Someone can be intentional with you. They can communicate, pursue you, and genuinely want a relationship. But does that automatically mean you're aligned?📌 If a relationship ends after years together, were you ever truly aligned... or were you simply intentional?More importantly...📌 How do you measure alignment before investing years of your life?📌 Is there a barometer for it? 📌 Or is alignment something we only recognize after we've lost it?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE red flags vs personal filters, changing relationship standards, intentionality vs alignment, and whether we're dating for compatibility... or just hoping it shows up along the way. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

CAN YOU BE A PROFESSIONAL WITHOUT PERMISSION? (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Let's start with something light…If you bring food or drinks to an event and they go unused, is it tacky to take them home?📌 Does it depend on the event? 📌 Is a potluck different from a birthday party? 📌 Once something enters the event, does it belong to the host or to the person who brought it?Then somehow the conversation evolved into something much deeper…📌 What actually qualifies someone to carry a title?📌 What makes someone a caterer? 📌 Is it the person who cooks the food? 📌 The person who owns the business? 📌 The person who creates the experience? 📌 Can you cater without cooking? And that led us to an even bigger question…When it comes to professionals, how much proof is required? If someone says they're a doctor, a chef, or a professional in their field, is experience enough? Is licensing enough? Is documentation necessary? And if someone cannot immediately produce proof, does that automatically invalidate their knowledge, training, or work?Because underneath all of this is a bigger question…Do you become a professional when someone grants you permission… or when your work proves it?Have we become so focused on credentials that we've forgotten that every expert was once a beginner? So now we're asking…Do titles come from participation… or validation? From skill… or certification? From experience… or recognition? And who ultimately gets to decide?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE event etiquette, ownership of leftovers, credentials vs competence, and whether professionalism comes from permission… or proof. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

EVERY MOMENT TEACHES (Feat. Eu'nice McCoy)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Have we started attaching ourselves to second-hand trauma? Not trauma we've personally lived through, but trauma we’ve inherited through stories, social media, conversations, and experiences shared by others. And when people share traumatic experiences, are we extracting the trauma from it or the principles that came from surviving it?Because there’s a difference between learning from pain, and building your identity around pain you never actually experienced. Then we revisited another conversation we’ve had before about Black businesses and discounts. 👇🏾📌 Why does asking for a discount at BJ’s, Costco, or major retailers feel normal, but somehow becomes offensive when it’s a Black business?📌 Is it because it’s a small business?📌 Is it because it’s Black-owned?📌 Or are we applying different principles depending on who’s selling?📌 And if support is important, where does fairness fit into the conversation? On one side, people are saying, “support Black businesses.”On the other side, customers are saying, “If there’s a deal, why can’t I ask?”Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE secondhand trauma, extracting principles vs pain, support within Black business culture, and the unspoken rules surrounding discounts and community economics. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Eu'nice McCoySubstack: Every Moment Teaches

ARE YOU REPPING BLACK CULTURE OR EXPLOITING IT? (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something, in your opinion, where’s the line between representation and exploitation? We had a conversation surrounding the cartoon "Hey AJ" and one of the characters, Captain Durag, a superhero who wears a durag and flies around helping people. Now, for some people, it was funny. Nostalgic even. But for others, it was offensive. And what made the conversation even more interesting was that some of the same people who are upset about the character actively wear durags and bonnets themselves.Once people found out the show's creator was Black, some of the outrage softened. So now we had even more questions 👇🏾📌 Was the issue really the representation itself?📌 Was the discomfort connected to who was representing it?📌 When does showing culture become exploiting culture?Because sometimes we say we want representation, until the mirror reflects something we don’t want amplified. So now we’re asking 👇🏾📌 Are we upset because it’s inaccurate?📌 Because it feels stereotypical?📌 Or because it feels too familiar?📌 And does intent matter depending on who created it?📌 At what point does cultural expression become cultural exploitation, and who gets to decide where that line is?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE representation vs exploitation, cultural sensitivity, identity in media, and why some reflections make us proud… while others make us uncomfortable. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJApple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJPersonal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

SAFE SPACE OR JUST A "SPACE" WITHOUT ACCOUNTABILITY? (Feat. Uncle Smiley The DJ)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Quick question: How many sneezes does somebody get before you stop saying “bless you” and start looking at them differently? Like, after a certain number, are you checking on them or slowly creating distance? That conversation somehow led us into something deeper…📌 What does the term “safe space” actually mean to you?📌 Is a safe space a place where you can fully be yourself?📌 Is it a person you trust?📌 Is it a mindset?📌 Or is it simply somewhere you can speak without fear of being judged? And here’s where the conversation got interesting 👇🏾Does a safe space remove accountability?Or should accountability still exist inside of it?Because some people want honesty, others want people to listen to them, others want correction, and others want comfort. So now the question becomes…📌 If someone challenges you in your safe space, is it still safe?📌 Can accountability and safety coexist?📌 Or do we only call it “safe” when nobody pushes back? And maybe the bigger question is…Are you looking for healing or agreement?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the meaning of safe spaces, accountability vs comfort, trust in communication, and how many sneezes it takes before concern turns into evacuation. 🔗 Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)🔗 Connect with Uncle Smiley the DJInstagram: @UncleSmileyTheDJTikTok: @UncleSmileyTheDJFacebook: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube: @UncleSmileyTheDJYouTube Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJ Apple Music: @UncleSmileyTheDJSoundCloud: @UncleSmileyTheDJSpotify: @UncleSmileyTheDJWedding Wire: @UncleSmileyTheDJThe Knot: @UncleSmileyTheDJ Personal Website: UncleSmileyTheDJ.com

HOW FAR WILL YOUR CIRCLE CARRY YOU!?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…How important is your circle really? There’s a story in the Bible about a man who needed healing, but the room was too crowded to get him to Jesus. So his friends did something different. They climbed to the roof, opened it up, and lowered their friend down until he reached the place where healing could happen. Now pause there. Those friends took it upon themselves to help someone else achieve a transformation. So the question became:📌 How far are you willing to go for the people you love?📌 Do you help until it gets inconvenient?📌 Do you support until you stop seeing progress?📌 Do you stay committed when they lose motivation?📌 Or is there a point where you say, “I’ve done enough?"Then we talked about hope.At a conference, a speaker said many people don’t have hope. And if faith is the substance of things hoped for,  then without hope, one of the key ingredients of faith is already missing. So now another question rises: 📌 If one of your people seems hopeless, can you help reignite that spark?📌 Can your belief carry them until they can believe again?Because sometimes healing doesn’t start with a miracle, it starts with the right people carrying you until you’re strong enough to walk yourself.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the power of your circle, the limits of support, restoring hope in hopeless places, and how far real friends are willing to go for your transformation. Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

We hear it all the time, “I’m drained.” But if you’re empty in some areas and still full in others, is your cup really empty?Or are you just tired of pouring into the same people, the same conversations, the same situations? So now we have to ask: 📌 Is your cup empty, or is your patience?📌 Are there people you avoid because they drain more than they deposit?📌 Are there conversations you no longer want to have because they exhaust you instead of energize you?And here’s another layer: 📌 Who determines the cup is empty?📌 The person pouring, or the person being poured into?Because sometimes the person receiving still expects more, while the person giving feels like they’ve already given everything. And we can’t skip this part:📌 Have you said anything?📌 Have you communicated that it’s draining you, or just created distance without explanation?📌 Because if they don’t know, can they adjust? So maybe it’s not always an empty cup, maybe it’s unspoken boundaries, and selective pouring.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE empty cups vs selective pouring, emotional boundaries, draining relationships, and who really decides when you have nothing left to give. Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

FRUGAL? IS IT CHEAP? OR IS IT DISCIPLINE?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Is being cheap the same as being frugal? We sparked this from a conversation where it was said, "If a man is using coupons, looking for deals, or trying to save money, that’s not attractive."But let’s pause.📌 If you can save money, why wouldn’t you?📌 Are we ignoring discounts to look like we got it?Coach said it plain: "When his wife saves him money, that’s a turn on."So now the real question is…📌 Are we mislabeling discipline as cheap?Because there’s a difference between not having and knowing how to manage what you do have. Then we shifted gears: BABY SHOWERS. 📌 At what point did they turn into full-on adult game nights?Musical chairs, winner takes all, some of these games feel less like a celebration and more like a competition. So, who are baby showers really for? The baby OR the adults? And one more thing...📌 How is it that someone can call you “the problem” but years later, they’re still in the same place?📌 Was it really you or a mindset that never changed?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE cheap vs. frugal, discipline vs. perception, baby shower culture, and accountability vs. repeated patterns. Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

MR. TENDERNISM VS. FINAL DESTINATION SMOKEHOUSE (SHOULD INFLUENCE & IMPACT EQUAL EQUITY?)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Should influence and impact equal equity? We had a conversation centered around Mr. Walter Johnson, also known as "Mr. Tendernism,"  and what stood out about him wasn’t just the content; it was the connection we felt to him through our phone screens, the virality, and the way people showed up to the restaurant because of him.But here’s the twist 👇🏾He didn’t own the restaurant. So now the question becomes…📌 If an employee becomes a driving force behind your business growth,  bringing attention, customers, and revenue, should that translate into ownership? From the outside, it feels like a quick “yes," But from the inside, it’s not that simple.📌 If you give equity to one, do you owe it to all?📌 Where’s the line?📌 Who decides when influence becomes ownership? And on the flip side, as a creative, is that a conversation you should have up front? Or is virality too unpredictable to plan for?Because here’s the real tension: when someone contributes in a major way, do you let them grow with you or risk losing them altogether? If people came for him and he’s gone, what happens to the business? Was it worth holding onto everything to potentially lose what helped you grow?Or was the company right in protecting what they built?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE influence vs ownership, creative value vs compensation, and whether impact should ever translate into equity.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

IF I WARN YOU, DO I STILL HAVE TO SAVE YOU?!

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Let’s start simple: If someone brings you a grilled cheese, what kind of cheese do you think is in there?Sounds small, but it showed us something big: the same question, different expectations. Everybody hears the same thing, but sees it differently. Now, take that into real life: we talked about self-worth, and here’s the truth: it’s not that people lack value; they lack vision. You can be everything you’re supposed to be, but if you don’t see it, nobody can convince you.And then we got to the core: If you tell someone “don’t go down that road”… and they go anyway… what’s your responsibility after that?📌 Do you help them?📌 Do you step back?📌 Do you love them without rescuing them?Because at some point, we have to ask: Is helping still helping, or is it enabling? And if you already warned them, are you still responsible for what happens next?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE perspective vs expectation, self-worth vs self-vision, and the responsibility we carry… even after we’ve giving out preventative warning.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

DOES CONSIDERATION NEED TO BE LOUD FOR IT TO BE VALID?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Have you ever had a craving for something you haven’t had in a long time, and when you finally got it, it just didn’t hit the way you remembered?Maybe it tasted different. Maybe the excitement built it up in your mind. Maybe the memory was better than the reality. We kicked things off with a conversation about nostalgic foods, but it led us into something deeper.📌 Does consideration need to be done out loud for it to be valid?📌 When someone considers your feelings, your time, or your position, do they have to announce it for it to count? 📌 Do they have to say, “I thought about you when I made this decision,” for you to believe it happened?Because sometimes people consider us quietly. They adjust things behind the scenes. They make small decisions with you in mind. They move differently because they care. But since it’s not spoken out loud, it can easily be interpreted as the opposite. So the question becomes:📌 Do we only recognize consideration when it’s visible?📌 Does it only count if it’s verbalized?📌 Or is quiet consideration still consideration?Because if someone never tells you they thought about you, does that mean they didn’t?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE silent consideration, expectations in relationships, nostalgic cravings that don’t hit the same anymore, and whether acknowledgment is required for thoughtfulness to count. Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

ARE WE CHANGING THE STANDARDS? OR ARE THE STANDARDS CHANGING US?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…📌 When you say you accept someone, does that include the backlash that might come with their past? It’s easy to embrace growth in private. It’s different when that past goes public, and people start whispering and forming unwanted opinions. What do you do when your reputation gets tested? OR What do you do when standing 10 toes down for your person starts to devalue everything you've worked for? If someone decides to share their testimony with the world, does your acceptance include the scrutiny? 📌 The judgment? 📌 The friendships that may shift? And if someone chooses to step away because of your history, do you blame them? OR Do you recognize that consequences sometimes spill beyond one set of shoulders? Now let’s pivot.📌 When did the standard stop being the standard? There was a time when monogamy was assumed. Now you’ll see debates in comment sections saying the issue isn’t that "he had other women"… it’s that "he didn’t give her the option to choose."📌 So what’s the standard now?📌 Monogamy?📌 Polygamy?📌 Or just the conversation before the decision?Has the line moved from “this is unacceptable” to “just tell me first?"Are standards evolving… or are people bending them? Are we redefining commitment, or just renegotiating comfort?Because at some point, we have to ask: Are the standards changing us or are we changing the standards?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE accepting someone’s past versus accepting its consequences, shifting relationship standards, loyalty under pressure, and whether today’s “communication” has replaced yesterday’s non-negotiables.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

BEING BLACK V.S. BLACK CULTURE: BY DNA OR BY ASSOCIATION?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…📌 What does it really mean to be "Black?"📌 And does it carry the same weight it did when we were growing up?In our session, we found ourselves circling a question that sounds simple… but isn’t. 📌 Is being Black cultural, or is it DNA? 📌 Is it heritage written in your cells? 📌 Or is it rhythm, language, experience, and shared struggle?Because depending on who you ask, the answer shifts. Some say it’s biological. If it’s in your bloodline, that’s the end of the discussion. Others say it’s cultural. If you live it, speak it, embody it,  then that’s your claim. Then you have those who don’t even want to use “Black” at all.And then there’s “Afro” this and “Afro” that. Afro-Latino. Afro-Caribbean. Afro-something.📌  Where did “Afro” enter the chat?📌 Is that a bridge to Africa? A rebrand? A distinction? 📌 A way of saying, “I’m connected… but not fully claiming?” 📌 Or is it just evolution of language in real time? And here’s the deeper layer…📌 Does being Black hold the same connotation today as it did for our ancestors? 📌 Has it shifted from identity to aesthetic? From survival to selection? From lineage to lifestyle?📌 When people classify themselves now, are they honoring DNA, culture, proximity, preference… or something else entirely?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE Blackness as DNA vs culture, the evolution of identity labels, cultural claiming vs cultural living, and whether being Black today means what it meant yesterday. Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

    IS SELF-SACRIFICE CONSIDERED LOVE?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something...While watching an interview with a reality TV personality, a statement was made: "Self-sacrifice is not love." 📌 Do ya'll believe that to be true or false? The beauty of this is that life is that individual experiences may make us see this question differently, but to those of us who were ever blessed enough to experience true love in any capacity, we know that the majority of the ways to show love involve a form of self-sacrifice. WHY CAN'T WE ASK SMALL BUSINESSES FOR DISCOUNTS?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,I need your help. UN•THERAPIZING something…📌 Let me ask you a question. Do small businesses really believe that people shouldn’t ask for discounts or coupons? Because let’s be honest, every big brand we shop with BJ’s, Costco, Fashion Nova you already know the first thing we’re doing is hunting for a promo code. No shame. 📌 So why does that conversation suddenly feel uncomfortable when it comes to small businesses? Now granted, we do understand there's a difference. Smaller budgets. More sweat equity. A lot more risk. A lot more personal investment. But here’s the real tension: 📌 Why shouldn’t consumers be looking for incentives when deciding where to spend their money? 📌 Is it wrong to ask? 📌 Is it disrespectful? 📌 Or is it just part of how modern consumers shop? And while we’re at it… 📌 How long is a refill actually good for at a restaurant? 📌 Is there an unspoken rule? 📌 A moral line? 📌 Or are we just making things up as we go?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE, asking for discounts from small businesses, refill etiquette, and exploring the evolving dynamics between parents and their children once they step into parenthood themselves.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…What is the “Soft Girl Era?"For some, it’s about peace, pampering, and self-care, but for others, it's about being fully taken care of (bills paid, stress-free, and living in leisure). 🚨 But here’s the real question: When did softness become an era instead of a lifestyle? When viral terms fall into the wrong hands, it can distort the original meaning of the phrases we create, so we were definitely left with some tough questions:📌 Is the soft girl era about true healing and feminine rest, or has it turned into a luxury aesthetic?📌 Should softness depend on someone else’s wallet, or can it be sustained through self-discipline and self-worth?📌 And for the men, is there such a thing as a “soft man era?" 📌 Or does that sound like a contradiction by default?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the meaning of the “soft girl era,” how it’s changed modern relationships, and what it really means to live soft without losing strength.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

ARE BABY SHOWERS & GENDER REVEALS THE NEW WEDDINGS?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Have baby showers and gender reveals quietly replaced weddings as the new “major milestone” event? Let’s be honest, folks are out here dropping full production budgets on these celebrations, but weddings? Not so much. Coach questions when the cultural shift happened and when celebrating parenthood started overshadowing marriage...while the squad debates whether it’s about priorities or just social media influence. But that’s not all...things took a deeper turn when the crew started talking about time and focus. Rev said something real: "Most of us don’t actually lack time, we just lack discipline". Coach chimed in that focus is the difference between “busy” and “productive,” and Shay reminded everyone that real growth requires balance, not burnout. Then came the question that hit everyone: Does friendship automatically mean accountability? Because let’s be real, some friends hype you up, but few hold you down when it’s time for correction.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the evolution of celebration culture, the truth about time and focus, and whether accountability should be an expectation or an agreement.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

    DOES TRAUMA NEED PROOF?

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…What do you do when someone shares their trauma with you: Do you believe them right away, or wait for proof? Let’s be honest, that’s not as easy as it sounds. It’s one thing to say “I believe you,” but when emotions, loyalty, and history get involved, things can get complicated real fast.Coach Fernz kicked it off with a tricky question: "If someone you love accuses another person you love, how do you decide who to stand with?"Shay & Lady J said their first instinct is to "believe and listen," but even she admitted… “If it’s family on both sides, now I’m playing detective.” And when Coach brought up how false accusations can destroy a life just as fast as silence can destroy a soul... whew, it got deep.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE, believing victims vs. seeking proof, how to respond when someone trusts you with their truth, and whether compassion and caution can truly coexist.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

    THE ILLUSION OF LUXURY

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Why do we chase the look of luxury more than the life of ownership? Why are we so drawn to the appearance of having “made it,” even when the price tag doesn’t match our priorities?Let’s be honest, some folks don’t own the car, the house, or even the clothes they’re flexing in. But the illusion of wealth? Impeccable. And in a world that celebrates the image of success, perception can feel more powerful than truth.📌 Here's the real question: Is it about fashion or validation? Are we investing in status or self-worth?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE ownership, image, and why we love to look rich even when it costs us more than money.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

THE GRIEF OF SHOWING UP EVEN WHEN THEY DON'T REMEMBER

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…Have you ever lost someone twice? Maybe that didn't make sense when you first heard it, so let's ask it a different way. 📌 What do you do when someone you love doesn’t remember who you are? 📌 When their memory fades, their face looks the same, but their mind is somewhere you can’t reach...do you still show up for them?In this session, we took a deep dive into the emotional tension of visiting loved ones battling dementia or Alzheimer’s. 📌 Is it still worth showing up if they no longer recognize you? 📌 Are you visiting for them, or for your own peace of mind? 📌 And how do you handle the heartbreak of being forgotten by someone who once knew you best? There are some harsh truths and realities of caregiving, financial protection, and setting healthy boundaries in what it means to love through memory loss, where grief can start long before goodbye.Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE, showing up for loved ones who no longer know your name, honoring the past while holding space for the present, and finding grace in the moments that still matter.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)

    THE DOOR DILEMMA

Hey UN•THERAPIST,We need your help UN•THERAPIZING something…How long are you supposed to hold the door open for somebody? Like, is there a magic number? Two people max? Three? And what if they don’t even say “thank you” after you did the good deed...do you still feel like holding it open for the next person? This might sound small, but let’s be real: manners, respect, and courtesy shift depending on where you are, who you’re around, and how you were raised. What feels normal in New York might feel rude in North Carolina. And let’s not even get started on generational gaps or cultural expectations. 📌 So, how do we determine what manners really look like?Join us for another session of UN•THERAPY as we UN•THERAPIZE the “door dilemma,” unspoken rules of courtesy, and why environment and upbringing shape how we treat strangers every single day.Connect with UN•THERAPY PodcastInstagram: @UntherapyPodcastFacebook: UN•THERAPY Podcast YouTube: UN•THERAPY  PodcastUN•THERAPY Facebook Group: 🎉 UN•THERA•PARTY (Official UN•THERAPY Podcast Group)
