The event organizer and art space creator SUREN KAZI GURUNG runs the creative restaurant Site, he is the manager of Api Saipal Treks and Expedition and the founder of Purnata Farm and Art Residency. We visited him at Site, which is an own art gallery of itself, where he also holds cooking workshops. But his main project is the performance festival FLOW ARTS NEPAL, which takes place every year at his beautiful nature space out of town. We live in a society where things are thrown away far too quickly, even when they’re still in good condition. Overall, we produce far too much waste. The artist NISTHA TIWARI explores this topic extensively and examines ways to give objects a new lease on life. Through creative work with printing techniques, she creates clothing based on the principle of upcycling. It all began a few years ago when she participated in a workshop on eco-printing; now she leads workshops for others herself. The Nepalese artist MRIGAJA BAJRACHARYA, better known as MRIGAJAB, creates fascinating illustrations, drawings, comics, and webtoons in vibrant colors. In the motifs she often features dystopian elements, cyborgs, metamorphic creatures, and pop punk. Her works also frequently convey socially critical messages and rebellious creativity. The creative artist JAMES KHATI takes an interdisciplinary approach to various fields, mixing them in unexpected ways and breaking down boundaries and structures through innovative ideas. He detests pigeonholing; instead, it drives him to constantly explore new paths that have never been considered before, to try out new combinations, and to experiment. This results in magnificent works, whether streetart, design, sculptures, installations, music, performance, or film. For example, at the Purple Haze Rock Bar in Kathmandu, he created a piece in memory of Jimi Hendrix using 10.523 ping-pong balls, which is exactly the number of days the musician lived. TARA HATAMI from Teheran began her creative journey in 2004, studying drawing for four years under Professor Farhad Gavzan. During that time, she explored a wide range of styles and techniques, building a strong foundation in art. Between 2008 and 2013, she focused closely on traditional media, especially colored pencil, developing both her technical skill and a disciplined approach to her practice. She later moved into digital art, working with character illustration and graphic design. Since 2015, Tara has been developing her own brand, BUDDHA CAT, creating digital illustrations and designs across different products and platforms. For her, art has always been a quiet and ongoing journey of learning and exploration. Her inspirations are rooted in nature, femininity, mythology, and traditional symbols. This year she was also part of the BHARATPUR STREETART FESTIVAL in Nepal and painted a great mural. From 8th to 15th February 2026 the first phase of the BHARATPUR STREETART FESTIVAL took place, and a long wall at the Balkumari Girls Secondary School at the Campachaur Cricket Pitch was transformed with stunning artwork. In an interview, we spoke with the initiator, MANISH KURMI, who has big plans for the event and intends to paint the city’s largest river bridge. He also runs the creative hub and alternative lodging space MY FRIEND’S HOSTEL. A place for accommodation, but also for workshops, art venues, and therapy for the soul and spirit. The amazing artist MOKI empathetically blends his emotions with his creativity, creating fantastic works of art. Sometimes gloomy and dark, sometimes colorful or chaotic - just as life and the emotional world are. The “mainstream” has always disgusted him; he wanted to do things differently, and why shouldn’t that be possible? Am 11. April haben wir uns mit Kunst im öffentlichen Raum beschäftigt, vor allem mit der Frankfurter Kunstsäule. Seit Mai 2017 finden hier dreimal im Jahr fantastische open air Ausstellungen wechselnder Künstler an der runden 360° Galerie statt. SHRADDHA SHRESTHA is a street artist, illustrator and muralist from Kathmandu and active since around 2011 she is one of the leading figures in Nepal’s emerging urban art scene. Her work is characterized by colorful, often imaginative figures inspired by her childhood and traditional cultural influences from the city of Patan. In her murals she combines urban graffiti aesthetics with local motifs and stories. In addition to creating in public spaces, she also works as an illustrator and is part of the VIRANGANA COLLECTIVE, which published the first comic anthology in Nepal created exclusively by women. SHRADDHA represents a new generation of Nepalese urban artists who use the streets to highlight cultural identity, imagination and social issues. She did huge murals with the FEARLESS COLLECTIVE, had exhibitions around the world like in the RUBIN MUSEUM in New York or was part of the fantastic festival MILLERNTOR GALLERY in Hamburg, Germany. The fantastic artist ROG from the Sanepa neighborhood in Lalitpur is a true multi talent. He got his start with the legendary ART LAB collective, which unfortunately no longer exists. But perhaps that’s just the way it had to be, and the members have gone their separate ways with their own projects. New collectives, groups, and projects have emerged and you simply can’t stop creative energy. And after that those former members even developed much more. ROG doesn’t just go with the flow of this energy; he harnesses it, builds upon it, motivates, connects, and links. He brings people, groups, ideas, and energies together. He is a connector. With a deep love for graffiti and urban art. We sat down for an interview with this fantastic person. All of Kathmandu and Lalitpur is filled with small stores and shops, many of which are art-related. They sell canvases, often of very high quality and created by local artists. But these places are just retail outlets. Where do the artworks actually come from? Who creates them, and who even teaches the artists how to do this? We visited the artist and art teacher KUMAR LAMA at his art school OLD MONASTERY THANKA AND ART PAINTING SCHOOL, and spoke with him about his creative space and the art presented. Currently 45 teachers work there and more than 100 students are taking part at the program. The artist GO GANG is a street dancer, performer, and videographer. For his interesting shows, he often creates entire stages and also the music. The musician BOBIN from Jeonju plays bass in various bands and has an incredible voice. She is a true natural talent, because without any musical training, she was thrown in by the musician YOU HEON SEOK, who immediately recognized her potential. She quickly became a permanent member of his blues band, also the BAND MUA, and the FNL BAND. After learning to play the bass within a few days, she now performs than 100 concerts a year, many of them also in Seoul and other cities around the country. The magnificent KUMANOVO GRAFFITI FEST festival has been taking place in the Macedonian city of Kumanovo since 2017, organized annually by the FORMA KUMANOVO crew. The Korean artist KIM SEOBANG has a deep connection to architecture, but also a passion for painting and visual design. Meanwhile he combines these fields in a fascinating new way of his individual expression. He began his career studying architecture, but something was missing: painting. He has since found a middle ground, merging the two spheres and creating fantastic architectural artworks, mostly in painting form, but also sculptural and photographic. KIM SEOBANG has lived in many places for extended periods, including Chicago, USA and Milan, Italy, cities with vastly different architectural styles. All of this has profoundly influenced him, providing him with inspiration and impressions. The artist GORAN BLAZHESKI, aka RAW.GB, is a fantastic illustrator and collagist from Skopje, who connects artworks in his own emotional way, inspired by styles of Cyberpunk, Biomorph, and FuturePast. He creates visual designs by combining different existing material while layering them on top of each other, puting them together in new ways or making reworkings on the motifs. The results are amazing, whether for album covers, event posters, clothing designs, or stickers. Seit dem 15. November und noch bis zum 21. Februar 2026 kann man in der Kai Middendorff Galerie fantastische Tondi Werke des türkischen Künstlers Ekrem Yalcindag bewundern, darunter Siebdrucke, Holzarbeiten und Ölmalereien zum Teil in runden Bildformaten. Am 13. Dezember besuchte uns der Galerist Kai Middendorff im Studio und wir haben uns über die Geschichte seines Kreativortes unterhalten, über die aktuelle Ausstellung und den Adventsrundgang der Galerien Niddastraße. YANNICK DAINELLI is the founder and manager of the FRÈRES D’ENCRE tattoo studio in Nice on the Côte d'Azur. The fantastic artist GOOD MOOD RUGS conjures up magnificent carpets in his workshop, or rather his atelier. That's because his works are not actually intended to be laid on the floor and walked on. Of course, you can do that if you want to – it's up to the buyer. But these are no ordinary rugs; they are works of art that are better suited to hanging on the wall. Those are often based on designs, illustrations, or graffiti by artist friends. We were able to visit GOOD MOOD RUGS in his studio and gain an insight into the creation of his works and examine the unusual equipment he uses, including homemade embroidery guns and large-scale stretching frames for larger rugs, which he also manufactures himself. Am 28. November sind wir eingetaucht in die Welt der Comics und Cartoons! Wir haben uns mit dem legendären KiX Verlag beschäftigt, der in den Neunzigern großartige und vor allem witzige bis skurrile Publikationen veröffentlichte, auch heutzutage sind die Macher noch aktiv. Uns besuchten die Gründungsmitglieder und Illustratoren RAUTIE und HERRJOERGRITTER, der auch die Sendung Seepferdefahrgäste bei Radio X moderiert. Wir haben uns über die Geschichte von KiX unterhalten, über den Vorgänger „Banane“, den Playmobilismus in der Independent Kultur, damalige und aktuelle Punkrock Projekte und natürlich die KiX Filme. The South Korean city of Gwangju is home to one of the country's most important universities, a center of knowledge for innovation and creativity. All of the faculties are certainly exciting, but we are particularly interested in the Art College. The architecture alone is fascinating, a circular building with different floors, each of which teaches different creative art genres. A spiral path leads step by step to the top, passing through all the creative areas. From painting and architecture to fashion design and sculpting, then the world of film, comics and manga, and of course new technologies, AI and computer programming. In an interview, we talk to Professor RYU BEOMEOL, who teaches “Animation & Comics”.
